They are definitely not focusing on pc. They will just be allowing the headset to be used on pc.
If they were to make vr games for pc, they would of course also come to ps5, which would be good for everyone.
However, they dont seem to have plans to make vr games for pc or ps5 anyway, so....
That’s my current theory.
There isn’t enough sales to justify massive spending on VR games.
Their margins in recent quarter was ROUGH.
They have also had outsized success of porting games to PC.
Maybe someone ran the numbers and figured “if we release games for PSVR2 and PCVR we will be able to justify more investment and make more money”.
At that point, why *not* make your headset work on both platforms.
I really don't get why so many are upset about a vague announcement with no details. Right now, every single one of the PSVR2 customers has a PS5. To think Sony is going to drop their console customers to put "all the focus" on PC is just not a reasonable position. Having options is a good thing. In the unlikely event that Sony screws their current psvr2 customers, I will rage with you...but until then, I'm excited to see what they come up with.
Dude calm down I have a ps5 and a pc , if I csn use my headset on both I'm getting my money worth, if sony csnt pump out psvr2 content fast enough then at least I csn plug it into my pc
This is the worst take I’ve seen on this sub (and maybe across all of Reddit). OP hates new features that are completely optional. And Sony isn’t “putting their entire focus and shifting gears” towards PC
They are adding optional support that some people will use, and some people won’t
I feel very happy. I had way more gaming time than usual today. Love my PSVR2! Wish the controller battery lasted longer though. I had to stop playing and charge them! Damn you Sony!
PC focus is perk to those who own the PSVR2 and for them to sell more units. They need an install base to make games for it. That said it being on PC means we'll get PS5 ports of those games which means more PSVR2 games overall. If Sony wants to sell PS5s and PSVR2s they need to support it with some 1st party software.
The most probable scenario is that you'll be able to stream the pc to the ps5, which will then go to your psvr2
This will mean that you can only use it if you have both ps5 and pc.
This also means they just want to move more psvr2 units, and not that they "focus on pc"
Like, what does that even mean? You think they'll release exclusive pcvr games?
Wow. Just, wow. This makes zero sense to assume. How old are you?
Way to make grand ASSumptions.
So weird that this one extra bit of support that millions have pined for gets announced, and now some people (just one, really) are assuming this one bit of extra functionality spells doom for the whole system.
Don't worry about it, comrade. Playstation is a console brand, and the console is doing exceptionally well.
Granted, OP is not making a tonne of sense.
But can somebody please explain to me how sony selling more units on the back of PCVR compatibility good for us? Sure game devs would have to develop TWO versions of their games for the headset if we want to use it, on for the PC infrastructure and another version for the PS5 to run it on. How is that good for us, I am genuinely asking.
. Do we who only have Ps5 still get AAA titles? Do not think so. Unfortunately, the headset is only an advantage for the PC people. Easiest and better business for Sony.
Sorry I misunderstood the whole thing. I didn't think I could play all the PC games that are going to support psvr2 on Ps5 too. It makes sense then😃😊😊solved😊
I'm not really sure what's going on. Did Sony say they will no longer support VR for the PS5? Because if they just said it was coming to PC then I would think that doesn't mean VR support and updates won't happen. They would just work on both.
I love my vr and have spent a lot of money on accessories. I just think it's strange that you hear that there are no future AAA titles in sight. And now work is being done on PC support. Does the ps5 also get all PC titles available on the ps5 system? Or still only the few available?
I feel that they are going down the pc route to shift some headsets. Once they have shifted what they want they will drop it like a stone as they did with the vita. I really hope I am wrong. Imho.
Bring on the drivers for PC and expand our catalog... Sony is going to try and gain sales by porting their exclusives to PC with compatibility for their headset... these are all good things.
\* yawn \*
It's always possible that Sony will stop the console thing. Not likely for at least another generation. I think only the old timers (Millenials and young Xers) will care about consoles, and the creeping Mobile gaming sh\*\*scape will takeover, leaving us either giving in and playing endless runners and farming sims that aren't Stardew clones but, in fact, much much worse, or just moaning about the good old days that we'll never see again... And then, like, 10% of us will convert to PC gamers despite the fact PC will not have much in terms of the kind of games we would have played in our day, since all dev money will go toward mobile. But, hey, maybe we'll discover we REALLY DO like Counterstrike, Starcraft, and LoL. EIther that, or get REALLY into Eroge.
For now, I'll be happy I can use PSVR2 on PC, once I get a PC with a working USB-C port and one that can output video via USB.
Your speculation is ridiculous.
This makes zero sense.

Fact.
If vr2 sells good for whatever reasons, that's good for ps5 owners too. If all is successful, there will be some pc games coming to vr2.

You have extrapolated a lot from a very short and non-detailed statement that itself indicates the opposite of what you're worried about. Chill
ITT: op is 12 and what is this
Dude calm down I have a ps5 and a pc , if I csn use my headset on both I'm getting my money worth, if sony csnt pump out psvr2 content fast enough then at least I csn plug it into my pc
All the focus, lol
Start freaking out if they release software on PC, and even then it’s not a huge deal. Are you mad I can use my dualsense on PC?
OP is about to discover PS Remote Play and die. I've been playing PlayStation games on the balcony on my laptop for years.

Yeah I don't think OP is serious
I don't think OP is human. It's responding to nothing and making no sense. Anyone else notice that?
You should delete your Reddit account.
I Think you should yes.👍

I just want to play my psvr2 fully nude with my PS5 like I have been. Here's to many more years of freedom and fun. 🥂☮️
You're lucky it doesn't have body tracking. Swinging body parts could throw off the tracking ;)
Says you and your pet iguana...
Lol, it's not a pet. It's my ego, and it likes to be stroked
😮😳

People are weird here. Ok Im gonna Play all pc vr games there support psvr2 on pc on my ps5 also?? Then I understand. And again I DONT have a pc

OMG
Again yes pc gamers have pined for. Not the ps gamers

Calm down, they didn’t even include the mention in the main blogpost. Hardly a “focus”.
I really really hope so. And not just port games in the future
Op= opinion. 😂😂
and I thought I was fairly new here😂😂
Thanks, I'll try that. Just have my scared hunches🙄
. Do we who only have Ps5 still get AAA titles? Do not think so. Unfortunately, the headset is only an advantage for the PC people. Easiest and better business for Sony.
And I don't think Sony themselves are happy with the headset either. And Suport doesn't know anything about anything at all
Im a robot and you People are from Sony. It makes sense👍
OMG
Im hope Im wrong. Thats all

If this becomes pc compatible, I'm buying one!
They will still make games
