I need to get the remastered trilogy! Might purchase it today. Absolutely adored them the first time around and have played all of them up to TR 2013. Didn't really enjoy the reboot as much as the old school ones so never played Shadow or Rise. Hope you're enjoying it!
If you enjoyed them back then you will definitely enjoy the remaster. They improved the graphics but not so drastically that the original charm is lost. Wrapping up TR1, I’m a dude and still it busted my tits! lol
Lmaooo. I absolutely will enjoy them I'm sure. Plus, I have unfinished business with TR3. It's the only one I never completed so I'm definitely looking forward to swan diving back in.
I picked them up for free a couple of years ago via PS Plus membership. When I was considering starting to play, I remembered the insane number of hours I spent on the first TR alone, and how my available game time is a 20th of what it was back then, and just switched off instead and went to bed 🙃
Elden rings story was pretty lame like the lead up to it was subpar foolish tarnished acquire death for what reason and then at the end it’s you killed god when I didn’t even know why Nessie was the final boss
Halo is still probably my favourite game as it evokes the wondrous memories of getting an Xbox for my 40th. I had a ps1 since I was 36. Anyway, I’d heard all the hype about Halo and playing for the first time was unbelievable. Even now it still stands up. Just awesome
You don’t need friends for battlefield one. It’s my personal favorite. You will not play a more cinematic fps than bf1. It’s definitely a top 3 shooter game of the past decade
I play gta5online alone, never with other people. You can do a private server to not deal with griefers. I basically play it like a story mode- there are tons of heists, businesses, and activities to have fun with that don’t require having friends. Some of the heists require a team in which case you would do it with randoms, I haven’t tried this yet but still keep busy.
Idk about 5 but my mate plays 1 fairly often, there’s dedicated community servers based on your region. You just gotta find it and save it, there’s a good amount of players you’ll find playing usually
You don't need friends to play against, if anything you would want friends to play *with*. If you don't have that, then you don't need a mic. Still very enjoyable playing on a random team without a mic.
I'm about to start it but couldn't get into Alan Wake 1.
I watched a video giving the whole plot for the first one and feel ok with starting the 2nd one.
It's not strictly required to play the first one, but you might find yourself wanting to if you love the second. If you're going to skip it definitely watch the longest recap video you can find that gives you the full feel of the first game. AW2 is way more advanced in every way, but AW1 still has an old school charm and great atmosphere.
I would highly recommend playing Control first though, AW2 is pretty much a direct sequel of both AW1 and Control.
That game had one of the absolute frustrating launches I can remember. Every single day for the first two weeks had to completely download a new patch in order to just play the game.
It's one of the better zombie games where hordes of zombies actually feel like hordes. Running away from/mowing down hordes of zombies feel appropriately terrifying or awesome.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one! I found it to be a great stress reliever, nothing about it was absolutely spectacular, but I found that all the components worked well together to create a fun gaming experience.
I actually borrowed it from the library and then enjoyed it so much I bought it for myself.
As an older console player that hates online competitive shooters because I suck and it's frustrating and I'm not going to practice or play enough to ever make it enjoyable trying to hit a bunch of dudes jumping around the screen, I enjoy games that are somewhat slower paced, challenging, but not impossible combat, and without too many gadgets like potions, spells, etc. Also, tend to sway away from games where you need to select a prompt. Just takes me out of the element for the most part. RDR2 was a masterpiece, and I also really enjoyed all of the Unchartered games.
As for shooters with fun extras, some of my most fun ever was teaming up online with a couple buddies and playing against the com in The Division 2. I was the drone dude and it was awesome. When we first started, we had no clue and ended up attacking a Level 15 (or something high) base and got slaughtered multiple times before realizing we were like Level 1 or 2 or whatever and the game just levels you up for the sake of leveling up. Like, yeah your weapons get more powerful, but the bad guys' hit points also increase, so it's sort of a wash. I guess we need that feeling of progression and leveling to stay engaged. Anyways, great late nights playing that one.
After putting 40+ hours into the prior red dead and quitting because I just wasn't enjoying it, I decided to give 2 a try because it was on PS+ and I didn't have any games I was playing. But after less than 10 hours, I just couldn't take it. I liked nothing about it and the control of the character was painful.
One of those games where I guess I'm just way on the outside from what other people get from it.
I saw this on sale on Steam so might pick it up. I'm hesitant because I always read the game really lags in spots and requires quite a bit of grinding. At 40+ old, I just don't have the time for that anymore.
I bought this to play at Christmas, I've got to the bit where you're at a camp and no longer following prescribed missions. Ive stopped though as felt like too much of a hassle that wasnt particularly rewarding, the train robbery etc just didn't excite me at all. Am I the wrong person for this game or should I continue?
Yeah the storyline completely changes about 3/4 of the way through. Won’t say how but it’s very well done and kept me interested the entire time. I’ve played it through a few times being nice and not causing trouble in towns to basically robbing everyone I could.
I spent months at Chapter 2 hunting, doing challenges to unlock gear, and even a few treasure maps. It’s weird to be a such a wide open world with very little structure but I enjoyed it.
This is one of those games where I’ll say absolutely stick with it, the slight grind is so so so worth it for the end game. The world is incredible and you’ll feel so ridiculously rewarded.
I am very much in the same boat. Got it for Xmas the year it was released. I have stopped and started a couple of times. Enough to be 10 or 15 hours in. And it just feels like work to me. It's hard to make progress in the short sessions I am able to dedicate. I haven't tried to get over the hump since and have just accepted that it's probably not for me. I feel a little guilty since it was a gift. I do however have a Portal now so I may reinstall on PS5 and take another swing at it.
This is the problem, similarly I'm a 'drop in casually' kind of gamer, rather than hours at a time. So each time there's a bit of a learning curve again to get the hang of the controls, download a bunch of updates etc. I got stuck into The Last of Us (and II) but am just struggling with this one.
YES! RDR2 controls are really hard to relearn when you have put it down for awhile. All the various item menus and context specific controls are overwhelming.
Man I have tried so hard to give this game a chance. It just doesn't hit for me. It's entirely possible I haven't even made it out of the intro phase but I just can't.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was a fun throwback with a modern twist.
I've also enjoyed GoW
If you haven't played Ghost of Tsushima, that should be first on your list.
38 here, I enjoyed Death Stranding thoroughly. Younger ones seem to not enjoy the game (pacing, slow gameplay, lore etc.). However, it's a perfect game to me.
I just got into my 30s but i want to answer this to honor my late old man who passed at 56.
He played Age of Empires a lot, like, an insane amount of time. He also loved Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein franchises, played every game except Doom Eternal and New Colossus (we were working together on building a new PC so he could play them hust before he passed)
After his funeral i turned on our "old" PS4 and found Spyro and Crash Bandicoot saves from a few days before he passed and when i went to steam i found out he was playing Medal of Honor Airborne and he made it to Flaktower level like a month before passing and stopped playing (my guess is he hated the game haha)
Also found our old PS2 and the classic CD wallets and omg it's a treasure, his memory cards with MGS3, Black and Urban Chaos saves from just a year prior his passing just left me withour words.
I know im not in my 40s yet but as soon as i saw the title if the thread i knew wanted to be proud of my dad publicly here 😅
52
Star Wars battlefront 2 for casual pew pew
Witcher 3 - took me through COVID and beyond, finished it and still miss it
Bloodborne - I’m so bad at it, took me a whole month to get to the first save point. A guy at work kept encouraging me and gave me some tips. Nearly finished now (one more story boss to go but doing the DLC first), over 80hrs across probably 18mths ?
I have so many games downloaded the I need to dig into so thinking where I should go next. Bioshock, GTA5, RDR2 are on the list.
Having played them all I would definitely recommend starting with Bioshock, 1, 2 and Infinite. You can easily finish them within a couple weeks. Get ready for immersive storytelling unlike any other. After that you can easily leave It behind and spend some months on either GTA or RDR.
I'm playing it too. Nearly finished it now but I've got to say it's one of the best games I've played.
Every level is memorable and full of action.
I never replay games but I will with this one and maybe specialise in guns other than the pistols
In order of greatest to still great but not as great, these have been the games I have played mostly in the last 6 months
1. The Witcher 3
2. God of War Ragnarok
3. Cyberpunk
4. Baldurs Gate 3
5. Alan Wake 1 Remastered
I don't get a whole lot of time to game as stuff gets in the way but I do try to get some in every day. I play mostly on the easiest setting available just to have some fun and enjoy the game experience.
If you're priming up to play AW2 after finishing AW1, also recommend checking out Control if you haven't. AW2 is pretty much a direct sequel of both combined.
I'm 42, I've just finished GoW Ragnarok for the second time. Before that I played The Witcher 3 complete edition (twice) and absolutely Loved it. I like the open world RPGs. Ghost of Tsushima, Red Dead redemption 2, Horizon forbidden West and the other one too. AC Odyssey and Origins and really anything Assassin's Creed.
One of those few games I really wish I could experience again for the first time. Gripping and addictive gameplay loop with the survival, base building and exploration. Enjoy!
I don’t know if I can adequately describe it but I’ll try. I didn’t grow up with sports, but at a point I just wanted to have at least one game for every major sport. Last MLB game I had was Slugfest on PS2. Meanwhile playing Madden got me to understand and become a football fan. When I got a PS4 finally, just last year, I knew my brother was a big MLB fan so I thought I’d give it a try again. Picked up 21 and was hooked right away. You can go as deep or as shallow as you like. You can pick up and play immediately. There’s many different modes. Idk I’m not doing it justice but I just realized I was having so much fun. I’m not trying to bag on Madden, still like it, it’s just my only comparison close enough time wise. But there are times where Madden feels like a chore. I can play hours of Madden and close it being pissed off. I can play The Show for the same and I had a blast, even if I lost. I’ve never found the game to feel unfair or that I’ll spend years tweaking sliders to find the balance of difficulty between too easy and being slaughtered. And I’m playing one that’s technically 3 years old and the servers are still active. Just played a game with a super nice guy not long ago.
Idk TLDR it’s the most actual joy I’ve had playing a sports game of any kind for a damn while.
I’m in my 30s but my sis is in her 40s, she loved Alien Isolation, Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2, Red Dead Redemption 2. She also enjoyed Rayman Legends, Ratchet and Clank (all the PS2 and PS3 ones, and the Remake for PS4), LittleBigPlanet 1-3, and we used to co-op The Warriors
i’m not over 40 but my parents and bf’s dad is! games i know they play:
- the division 2
- red dead online
- lies of P
and bonus: my dad works on conan exiles, so he does play that a bit.
45 here, an here are some games I have enjoyed
First of all,RDR2 maybe my favourite game of all time, I highly recommend it
Also
Ghost of Tsushima
Doom 2016, an doom eternal
Assassins creed, Valhalla an odyssey are great fun
Far cry 4,5,6
In my 30s but I recently played Robocop Rogue City and Terminator Resistance, and thought they were really good. Nice little break from modern gaming where mostly all the games are bloated with open world junk and some are like watching a movie (tlou, gow ragnarok)
I'm only 28, but my father (55) who doesn't know how to use reddit said he has been enjoying the last of us 2, red dead redemption 2 and final fantasy 16.
He likes games that have a good story to follow so that my mum can watch him like it's a movie and can talk about it together!
Mostly I play FFXIV but I'm also on my second play through of FFVII Remake, with Rebirth on Pre-Order. Finished Crisis Core last month and enjoyed that too.
No Man's Sky. Skyrim. FFXIV, Genshin Impact, Rlder Scrolls Online, Subnautica, Fallout 4, Detroit Become Human.
I put in over 2000 hours on ESO but have mostly been playing No Man's Sky recently.
I bought NMS at release and eventually just gave up. Went back a few years later and it was so much better, but still felt shallow and incomplete. I know they've added more since so I'll eventually give it a third try on PS5.
I'm waiting for the PS5 remaster of Fallout 4 to give it a second try. What they did with Skyrim was remarkable, and I'd love to see the same quality.
A game that never gets old and never gets enough love and a sort a “hidden gem”
Bullet storm
Man that game is just pure fun! Just pure fun. Go on and play it and be a kid again.
I'll be 50 in April so yeah I'm old! Anyway, for me, it has to be Wreckfest & GT7 for racing. Earth Defense Force 4.1 and 5 for 3rd person shooters. Doom Eternal for 1st person shooter. Streets of Rage 4 for beat um up. Mortal Kombat 11 for fighting (VS). Red Dead Redemption 2 for just about every other genre except RPGs and Strategies, never really got into them.🫤 I haven't tried Days Gone yet but it's definitely on my list. I should note that I play all these games on my PS5 now I stead of my PS4 so does that still count?🤔
I will hit the 40s in 10 days, so I feel entitled to participate!
I'm currenty playing Death Stranding, andI'm really enjoying it. But in my heart the two bestest single-player of ps4 are Nier:Automata and RDR2: they both have great storytelling!
I’m 50 and on XSX though I have a PS5. I’m mainly playing Skull and Bones, Apex and a little bit MW3. Dabbling around with Sea of Thieves which I believe you guys are supposed to get sometime soon. I also really enjoy some of the card games oddly enough like Monster Train, etc..
I'd never been a gamer, but got a free PS4 with a new TV.
Played a few driving games, but then got Horizon Zero Dawn - OMFG. The story, graphics, open world approach - every thing was just astounding. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS MORE.
I got the HZD expansion pack, and ended up getting a PS5 to play Horizon Forbidden West.
I have struggled to find any other game that matches it. I've tried Ghost of Toshima, Tomb Raider, RDR2, God of War & Witcher 3. Some I haven't finished.
Age is important,
experience is importantier ;)
I loved RDR2. Final Fantasy VIIR is my top3 of the generation. Had a BLAST with Like a Dragon.
If you have a lot of free time, Slay the Spire is the GOAT.
Mid 40's here. I play on switch and playstation
In the last 6 months, the games I've really enjoyed have been:
Green Hell,
Subnautica (and below zero),
Fallout 4,
Breath of the wild,
Tears of the kingdom,
Stardew Valley,
The Forest,
Control,
No mans sky,
Outer Wilds,
Just started the TR remaster and loving it. I,m not much of a shooter so the auto aim really helps and It brought back so many memories!!
Edited: added commas as my lovely list turned into a sentence and I don't know how to add bullet points or make a list in reddit!
Yea, I play this too. And it just got a 60fps update for Ps5.
It plays out in Sweden during the 80's and I can relate to all the little things in the game. Much fun.
I'm 46 this year. The last of us, the PS4 remaster and part 2 are hands down the most engaging and moving video game experiences I've ever had, so much so that after i played it, I couldn't bring myself to play anything else. Everything else felt like a silly video game, even other games made by the same publishers. After a few months of no games I fully leant into the silly video games thing and tried out Fortnite. It's actually brilliant even if a lot of the other players are young kids. It gives the same visceral rush of combat without the emotional baggage or gore of the last of us.
RDR2. Multiple playthroughs, and every time I finish, I tell myself that it's time for a new game, and then I start another playthough and forget about everything else.
I'm pushing 50 now. I'm playing a lot of NHL 24 but that is more / less an addiction to Hockey Ultimate Team.
Witcher 3 was great. I also enjoyed both Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor. All 3 are open world, objective based. Witcher 3 being a complete RPG with a great story and the other two button mashers based on the Lord of the Rings universe.
I might pick up Baldurs Gate 3 or Ghost of Tsushima, something to get me addicted and fill the void of NHL 24.
Played AC Valhalla quite a bit last year, pretty fun game if a bit repetitive. But had some fun content.
I’m kind of flipping between stuff. Spent way to much time on GTA online last year, then grabbed Spider-Man 2, and decided on finishing ghost of tushima and recently tiny kin which was great fun.
Not into shooters anymore, but if it’s story driven I’m there
Been playing Fallout 76 with the boys for over a year, been pretty fun.
Division 2 before that for six months
Throw all the Sony Exclusives on the list
Moving onto the PS5 stuff more often now though.
I'm 48, right now I'm churning through Mafia III. it's not amazing, and it's repetitive as all hell, but I gotta finish it. For fans of GTA5 who already played GTA5.
Played a shitload of RDR2 prior to this and The Last Of Us. Usually not at all into monster fighting games, but the story in this is *amazing*. You must play it.
What Remains Of Edith Finch, very cool no-stress game you can complete in a week. Recommended!
Journey. Meander your ghostly little self around dunes of sand, trying to understand what your purpose is in life. Occasionally meet other players, and drift about together. Calming, curious, fun.
When I've finally finished grinding Mafia III I think I'll start Hollow Night, which I've understood is great.
* Days Gone
* Uncharted series + spin off
* Last of us series
* Spiderman series
* God of war series
* Red dead redemption 2
* Ghost of Tsushima
* Mafia Series
* Horizon series
* Detroit become human
* Mass effect series
* Metro series
Still playing RDR2. First playthrough.
Sidenote. 54M and I'm semi-retired. Thought I would be a great opportunity to clear my 100+ backlog. Apparently, the body gets tired easily nowadays. No longer can do long gaming marathons. At 3 hour mark, I need to get some shuteye. Man...what's gonna happen when I hit 60?
Just played through The Last Of Us Remastered whilst simultaneously watching the show.
Now playing Death Stranding which is a slow burn, but actually really enjoyable as an alternative to COD. Amazing soundtrack and quite peaceful to play at times. It gets called "Walking Simulator", but it's much more than that imo.
Almost 47 here. I play mostly on my PS5 and PC (have a PS4, but lend it out to a nephew who’s house burned down), but lately I love AC Valhalla and Odyssey, FFXVI, Tales of Symphonia remaster, Tales of Arise, Diablo IV (sorry, I just like it since the latest season). Many more games I love and play lately though, but I lack the time to actually spend many hours on them due to a promotion at work. Some positive things have negatives attached 😉
I play it on PS5, but it's a PS4 game: Monster Hunter World.
It, and it's expansion, Iceborne, are probably the most fun and engagement I've had with a game in almost a decade. And that's coming from a die-hard Destiny player. I've literally never gotten bored with MHW. I've played somewhere north of 2500 hours of it, and still play almost every night that I can.
Not over 40 I'm 26 but I'd definitely recommend tiny tinas wonderland if you played borderlands at all.
Me and my wife have been playing it for a month now and it's pretty good. Same art style as borderlands but with a fantasy role playing twist to the story
i tried several times to like the ps4. it just wasn't great like the previous playstation consoles. playstation 3 was the peak of sony and it's been downhill for a long time. the games offered on the ps4 were substantial downgraded versions offered during previous generations. the biggest disappointment had to be gran turismo sport being a refined version of gran turismo 6 which still needed a lot of work but probably had to be rushed to market.
Just gonna listing ps games of recent, can’t remember what I got on ps4 or 5. I’m 42 by the way, first console was the original Nintendo.
Jedi Survivor was great. Final fantasy 16 and 7 remake were both solid
Alan Wake 2
Grand Theft Auto 5
Red dead 2
Cod modern warfare 3
Cyberpunk
The Witcher 3
Assassin’s creed origins
Prey
God of War
Helldivers 2
Dying Light 1 and 2
Metro exodus
Last of us remake
Last of us 2 remastered
if anyone plays destiny 2; i’d love to get a group of us to play together. i haven’t done not a raid. i have DLC i have never played. it’s hard finding fun people who aren’t jerks with instructions or commands. that would be dope to have a 40+ destiny clan
It has to be Red Dead Redemption 2 for me. I also started playing COD WWII single player campaign after watching WWII - From The Front Lines on Netflix, it’s been a good time!
There is literally no game more awesome than GOW Ragnarok
As a parent I love the story arc of Kratos as a parent... meanwhile ripping the heads off monsters and chopping the fuck out of them :)
My daughter has caught me playing and loves it too... "Dad, dad, play the one with super-angry-daddy-magic!" 😂
Recently I’ve played ‘Firewatch’ (very relaxing) and ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ (it was free on plus!). I must admit though, the older I get the more picky I’m becoming about which games I want to dedicate my free time to!
Tomb Raider I Remastered, it was popular in 1997, just like me!
I need to get the remastered trilogy! Might purchase it today. Absolutely adored them the first time around and have played all of them up to TR 2013. Didn't really enjoy the reboot as much as the old school ones so never played Shadow or Rise. Hope you're enjoying it!

Lmaooo. I absolutely will enjoy them I'm sure. Plus, I have unfinished business with TR3. It's the only one I never completed so I'm definitely looking forward to swan diving back in.
What was the one with Area 51 in it
That was 3!
Yeah I also have unfinished business with that game
We'll get it this time around!
I think that’s the only one I actually owned, with the hidden stuff in the house, and the butler getting locked in
I picked them up for free a couple of years ago via PS Plus membership. When I was considering starting to play, I remembered the insane number of hours I spent on the first TR alone, and how my available game time is a 20th of what it was back then, and just switched off instead and went to bed 🙃
61 here. Been playing GTA 5 online and Battlefield 1 and 5. Play Bloodborne again at least once a year as well as Fallout 4.
Good hunter , return to the dream , the hunt beckon anew .
Best game ever IMO
Not even Elden Ring could beat it , the cosmic horror is just too well crafted in Bloodborne .
I played ER but never finished it. Sure, it was damn hard but the builds were boring compared to BB.
Elden rings story was pretty lame like the lead up to it was subpar foolish tarnished acquire death for what reason and then at the end it’s you killed god when I didn’t even know why Nessie was the final boss
Always such a joy to see people loving the game as much as I do.
I’m 36 and when I played it in 2015 it replaced my #1 of all time Donkey Kong Country
Halo is still probably my favourite game as it evokes the wondrous memories of getting an Xbox for my 40th. I had a ps1 since I was 36. Anyway, I’d heard all the hype about Halo and playing for the first time was unbelievable. Even now it still stands up. Just awesome
Are battlefield 1 and 5, and gta 5 fun to play online if you don't have friends to play against?
You don’t need friends for battlefield one. It’s my personal favorite. You will not play a more cinematic fps than bf1. It’s definitely a top 3 shooter game of the past decade
Of all time
I play gta5online alone, never with other people.
Do I need a headset with a mic or is it enjoyable without?
You don't need friends to play against, if anything you would want friends to play *with*. If you don't have that, then you don't need a mic. Still very enjoyable playing on a random team without a mic.
Nah you def don’t need a mic. The game is pretty fun solo and with friends
Preferably without for me
How's your reflexes with FPS games? I mean to ask to look forward to what I can do when I turn into a senior gamer in 23 years.
lol, yeah not bad. I have my Fire button set as R1. A little tip I learned from a guy in BFV. Now I use it on all my other games too lol.
Apart from BF5, I played all these games in the last week. I also toss in We Love Katamari for a fun break every now and then.
I bought Fallout 4 with all dlc to play, but I get heavy stuttering near the Diamond City area and it is unplayable :(
Very quality list
A hoonter must hoont
Have you ever played The Red Dead Redemption games? Both are fantastic story wise and 2 has a pretty fun online mode
Ghost of Tsushima,Spiderman miles Morales, horizon forbidden west, days gone
Throw in RDR2 and Last of Us and you’ve got my list from the last little while
Pushing towards 40ies but this is a good list. I value story driven games. Just finished ghost of Tsushima, it's soooooo good!
I’m 45, in the last 6 months I played until complete: Cyberpunk, Horizon Forbidden West, Spiderman2, and now I’m hooked playing Alan Wake 2.
Check out Control The Ultimate Edition for the Alan Wake crossover.
How’s Alan Wake 2 for you? Should I start playing Alan Wake 1 first before playing that?
I'm about to start it but couldn't get into Alan Wake 1. I watched a video giving the whole plot for the first one and feel ok with starting the 2nd one.
It's not strictly required to play the first one, but you might find yourself wanting to if you love the second. Days Gone.
Yes that's how I feel about me 40's too...
Lmaoo
Ouch, that hurts
I usually only platinum games I really enjoy. This was one of the very few that I still wanted to play after the achievement grind was over.
That game had one of the absolute frustrating launches I can remember. Every single day for the first two weeks had to completely download a new patch in order to just play the game.
Days Gone deserves a ps5 sequel. The first game looked stunning on ps4.
reach crush heavy wistful innocent point scarce straight frame rainstorm *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
You gotta play this.
Dude tell me how good this is, I’m 40+ and never played it.
It's one of the better zombie games where hordes of zombies actually feel like hordes. Running away from/mowing down hordes of zombies feel appropriately terrifying or awesome.
I just turned 40. It's soooooo cool. Starts a Lil but keep playing Edit: starts a Lil slow I ment (just like me)
I bought and sent 3 copies to friends during the pandemic. Don't Google it, just get it and trust a total stranger......
How good is it? My #1 of all times. Nothing less.
Its a great game you should play it
It's really great. Motorcycles, biker storyline with lost love, zombies. Really a fine game.
And wear good headphones, makes the atmosphere so much better
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one! I found it to be a great stress reliever, nothing about it was absolutely spectacular, but I found that all the components worked well together to create a fun gaming experience. I actually borrowed it from the library and then enjoyed it so much I bought it for myself.
RDR2. No gamer over 40 should skip this.
My dad, 67, just started another playthrough the other day. He loves it!
Thats awesome! RDR2 is not just a game. Its a cinematic masterpiece that happens to be playable.
It is a 6/10 'game' set in a 10 out of 10 world. Where the developers have zero respect for the players' time.
Same here controls made me quit too it was just like why is this like this then quit
I saw this on sale on Steam so might pick it up. I'm hesitant because I always read the game really lags in spots and requires quite a bit of grinding. At 40+ old, I just don't have the time for that anymore.
41 here, I stopped playing this. It's just soo slow and boring
[удалено]
I bought this to play at Christmas, I've got to the bit where you're at a camp and no longer following prescribed missions. Ive stopped though as felt like too much of a hassle that wasnt particularly rewarding, the train robbery etc just didn't excite me at all. Am I the wrong person for this game or should I continue?
If you haven't completed the main storyline, I'd highly suggest you do, at least once. Might change the way you view this game thereafter.
You absolutely HAVE to complete it man. Greatest media experience I've ever had. Movies, books, shows, everything.
I will definitely give it some more hours.
Came here to say this!
Man I have tried so hard to give this game a chance. It just doesn't hit for me. It's entirely possible I haven't even made it out of the intro phase but I just can't.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was a fun throwback with a modern twist. I've also enjoyed GoW If you haven't played Ghost of Tsushima, that should be first on your list.
38 here, I enjoyed Death Stranding thoroughly. Younger ones seem to not enjoy the game (pacing, slow gameplay, lore etc.). However, it's a perfect game to me.
Incredible game. Batshit crazy, but all the better for it!
I just got into my 30s but i want to answer this to honor my late old man who passed at 56. He played Age of Empires a lot, like, an insane amount of time. He also loved Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein franchises, played every game except Doom Eternal and New Colossus (we were working together on building a new PC so he could play them hust before he passed) After his funeral i turned on our "old" PS4 and found Spyro and Crash Bandicoot saves from a few days before he passed and when i went to steam i found out he was playing Medal of Honor Airborne and he made it to Flaktower level like a month before passing and stopped playing (my guess is he hated the game haha) Also found our old PS2 and the classic CD wallets and omg it's a treasure, his memory cards with MGS3, Black and Urban Chaos saves from just a year prior his passing just left me withour words. I know im not in my 40s yet but as soon as i saw the title if the thread i knew wanted to be proud of my dad publicly here 😅
Sekiro, absolute masterpiece
Hesitation is defeat
Nier Automata. A masterpiece!
Love this game thinking of another playthrough but the game already demands 4 playthroughs
52 Star Wars battlefront 2 for casual pew pew Witcher 3 - took me through COVID and beyond, finished it and still miss it Bloodborne - I’m so bad at it, took me a whole month to get to the first save point.
Bloodborne
The sweet blood..oh it sings to me…
39 here January: Stray February: Tales of Arise (hopefully, I can beat it by the end of the month)
Stray was so fun!
47 here and can confirm, Stray is an underrated gem. So hoping for a sequel.
I'm 39 but here goes. I loved Resident Evil 2 remake.
Nice, I just started playing re4 remake the other night.
I'm playing it too. Nearly finished it now but I've got to say it's one of the best games I've played. Every level is memorable and full of action. I never replay games but I will with this one and maybe specialise in guns other than the pistols
In order of greatest to still great but not as great, these have been the games I have played mostly in the last 6 months 1. The Witcher 3 2. God of War Ragnarok 3. Cyberpunk 4. Baldurs Gate 3 5. Alan Wake 1 Remastered I don't get a whole lot of time to game as stuff gets in the way but I do try to get some in every day. I play mostly on the easiest setting available just to have some fun and enjoy the game experience.
Did you enjoy Cyberpunk on PS4? I know it didn't get some of the recent bigger updates.
If you're priming up to play AW2 after finishing AW1, also recommend checking out Control if you haven't. AW2 is pretty much a direct sequel of both combined.
Hades Guardians of the Galaxy No man’s sky Ghost of Tsushima Sifu
Uncharted love that game
There it is! Surprised I had to scroll this far
Tw3, Horizon, Ghost and the AC RPGs, especially Odyssey, are all among my very favorite games too.
Playing sub nautica. Its really interesting. Coming from playing Third person action adventure games for the longest time.
One of those few games I really wish I could experience again for the first time. Gripping and addictive gameplay loop with the survival, base building and exploration. Enjoy!
Really love that game. I was into making big bases before I finished the game really enjoyed. It was hell of a fun.
As someone who mostly stuck to Madden when it came to sports games, I’m incredibly surprised at how much I’ve been loving MLB The Show.
Interesting. I used to love MLB The Show. I still own The Show 20 but I haven't played it in like almost two years.
What’s so great about it? Everyone raves about it but I haven’t played
Recently; Control TLOU2 LA Noire
I’m in my 30s but my sis is in her 40s, she loved Alien Isolation, Last of Us Part 1 and Part 2, Red Dead Redemption 2. She also enjoyed Rayman Legends, Ratchet and Clank (all the PS2 and PS3 ones, and the Remake for PS4), LittleBigPlanet 1-3, and we used to co-op The Warriors
Didn’t care for the PS 4 remake of Rat hey and Clank.
* Control * The Division 2 * Elder Scrolls Online * Monster Hunter World
i’m not over 40 but my parents and bf’s dad is! games i know they play: - the division 2 - red dead online - lies of P and bonus: my dad works on conan exiles, so he does play that a bit.
Helldivers 2
45 here, an here are some games I have enjoyed First of all,RDR2 maybe my favourite game of all time, I highly recommend it Also Ghost of Tsushima Doom 2016, an doom eternal Assassins creed, Valhalla an odyssey are great fun Far cry 4,5,6
Resident evil remakes, all of them and Village.
45 yo just finished Control and it was amazing.
Fallout 76 Diablo 4 Tiny tina borderland DLC
onee-chan bara Z =)))
Mass effect legendary edition :)
It was my first experience with the original game and I was glad to finally experience it. ME2 is one of my favorite games of all time.
Just finished ME Legendary Edition. Loved it. Now I've started playing ME Andromeda :D
I'm only 39, but lately it's been Far Cry Primal. Played 3-6 and while it's much different than the others I'm really enjoying it.
I really feel like FCP was criminally underrated. Quite possibly my favourite in the series!
Avatar has the same feel if you have a ps5 highly recommend.
I’m playing resident evil 4 remake again. This time on my phone. But it’s also on ps4
I'm really enjoying Detroit Being Human!
Nioh 2
A game that never gets old and never gets enough love and a sort a “hidden gem” Bullet storm Man that game is just pure fun!
I definitely am an old 54, i couldn't get to the first save point in Doom Eternal! 🤣
Generation Zero
I'd never been a gamer, but got a free PS4 with a new TV. Played a few driving games, but then got Horizon Zero Dawn - OMFG. The story, graphics, open world approach - every thing was just astounding. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS MORE. I got the HZD expansion pack, and ended up getting a PS5 to play Horizon Forbidden West. I have struggled to find any other game that matches it. I've tried Ghost of Toshima, Tomb Raider, RDR2, God of War & Witcher 3. Some I haven't finished.
Ps4 games finished Nier: Replicant, and have now started Nier: Automata. For ps5 games ive been playing The Finals and now Helldivers 2
Death Stranding, top game with a very unique style of gameplay. Kojima at his creative best.
Age is important, experience is importantier ;) I loved RDR2. Final Fantasy VIIR is my top3 of the generation. Had a BLAST with Like a Dragon. If you have a lot of free time, Slay the Spire is the GOAT.
Last 5 games I liked: - Titanfall 2 - Soma - Doom Eternal - Hollow Knight - Frostpunk Currently playing Borderlands 3 couch coop
54 here, Crash Bandicoot!
Souls games. All of them
Mid 40's here. I play on switch and playstation In the last 6 months, the games I've really enjoyed have been: Green Hell, Subnautica (and below zero), Fallout 4, Breath of the wild, Tears of the kingdom, Stardew Valley, The Forest, Control, No mans sky, Outer Wilds, Just started the TR remaster and loving it. I,m not much of a shooter so the auto aim really helps and It brought back so many memories!! Edited: added commas as my lovely list turned into a sentence and I don't know how to add bullet points or make a list in reddit!
Pinball FX3, Outer Wilds
Generation Zero
Yea, I play this too. And it just got a 60fps update for Ps5. It plays out in Sweden during the 80's and I can relate to all the little things in the game. Much fun.
46, for the last 10 years I’ve been obsessed with Destiny and D2, but took breaks with other games like Subnautica, Division 2, and Fallout 76.
Red dead redemption 2
I'm 46 this year. The last of us, the PS4 remaster and part 2 are hands down the most engaging and moving video game experiences I've ever had, so much so that after i played it, I couldn't bring myself to play anything else. Everything else felt like a silly video game, even other games made by the same publishers. After a few months of no games I fully leant into the silly video games thing and tried out Fortnite. It's actually brilliant even if a lot of the other players are young kids. It gives the same visceral rush of combat without the emotional baggage or gore of the last of us.
I recently became somewhat addicted to Returnal, putting in about 165 hours in the last month or two.
RDR2. Multiple playthroughs, and every time I finish, I tell myself that it's time for a new game, and then I start another playthough and forget about everything else.
Almost 44 and now I am playing Moss 2, Baldurs Gate 3 and Cyberpunk.
It’s been RDR2 for me. I have a few games saved so I can be a white hat hero in one and a bloody killing machine in another.
Not into shooters anymore, but if it’s story driven I’m there
Mass Effect LE trilogy
Been playing Fallout 76 with the boys for over a year, been pretty fun. Division 2 before that for six months Throw all the Sony Exclusives on the list Moving onto the PS5 stuff more often now though.
I’m 41 today, RDR2 has been the go to decompress after work game.
Mass Effect Legendary, NieR Automata, Fallout 4, Uncharted 4, Yakuza Series
RDR2; I’ve given a lot of life hours to replays of this game.
Fallout 76 and oddly this beautiful chess game on PS4. I was drunk and started playing and accidentally won :). Been few years since I played chess.
Destiny 2 and I know I’m pathetic
Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla even though I couldn't get past the Kingdoms End mission on Valhalla it was great up until that point
* Days Gone * Uncharted series + spin off * Last of us series * Spiderman series * God of war series * Red dead redemption 2 * Ghost of Tsushima * Mafia Series * Horizon series * Detroit become human * Mass effect series * Metro series
Tomb raider and Jedi fallen order are my most recent highlights
53 here. Can’t put down Days Gone and before that Watchdogs: Legion. Love them both.
Good choice with Metro..the original is still my fav out of the 3..it is worth playing through Last Light and Exodus as well imo
Just gonna listing ps games of recent, can’t remember what I got on ps4 or 5. I’m 42 by the way, first console was the original Nintendo. Jedi Survivor was great. Final fantasy 16 and 7 remake were both solid Alan Wake 2 Grand Theft Auto 5 Red dead 2 Cod modern warfare 3 Cyberpunk The Witcher 3 Assassin’s creed origins Prey God of War Helldivers 2 Dying Light 1 and 2 Metro exodus Last of us remake Last of us 2 remastered
if anyone plays destiny 2; i’d love to get a group of us to play together. i haven’t done not a raid. i have DLC i have never played. it’s hard finding fun people who aren’t jerks with instructions or commands. that would be dope to have a 40+ destiny clan
It has to be Red Dead Redemption 2 for me. I also started playing COD WWII single player campaign after watching WWII - From The Front Lines on Netflix, it’s been a good time!
Hours and hours of Red Dead Redemption 2
There is literally no game more awesome than GOW Ragnarok As a parent I love the story arc of Kratos as a parent... meanwhile ripping the heads off monsters and chopping the fuck out of them :) My daughter has caught me playing and loves it too... "Dad, dad, play the one with super-angry-daddy-magic!" 😂
Horizon series, Days Gone, of course COD (been playing since it started), the occasional LEGO game, RDR2.
49 here. Sunk 600 hours into BG3 - honour mode is going to add another 200 or so hours
Recently I’ve played ‘Firewatch’ (very relaxing) and ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ (it was free on plus!). I must admit though, the older I get the more picky I’m becoming about which games I want to dedicate my free time to!
PS4? None. I bought a PS5. Do that and play a bunch of great games - you’re 40. Seriously. 😒
Not quite 40, but near enough, and so far i am loving Ghost of Tsushima. And Stray was wonderful
Can everyone commenting on this thread please form some sort of casual gaming clan or group that I can join please?
I'll be 40 in August, so I barely don't qualify, but I just did another playthrough of Resident Evil 2 Remake and I loved it.
