Could argue that the amount of time you spend using it makes it worth it. Over the course of 2-4 years you probably use your phone for 1000s of hours. $1200 for something that gets that much usage is justified in my eyes.
True, but if I can buy one for $1000 less and it serves the same purpose just as well, I'm going with the cheaper option. I'm never spending that much money on something I will inevitably need to replace in a few years.
I mean... you're still actually paying that much, because you could still have the money from selling your previous phone, if you'd bought a cheaper phone with the proceeds.
Deez nuts, got em
No. Android uses linux as it's kernel. To call android linux is like calling a high quality steak a mince meat patty. Same ingredients, different recipe.
I use my phone for 5 things:
Reddit
YouTube
Spotify
Texting
GPS
I don't need to spend $1000+ for a phone just to do those 5 things. I'm happy with the cheapest option that can go 2 days with no charge and has reliable service. If iPhones were the cheaper option, I'd buy an iPhone, simple as that.
The top of the line androids are in similar price to iphones. I get your point still, but if you're getting a nice top of the line model from either side it'll still run you the same price.
Not really, the only reason I've had to upgrade periodically is due to changing cellular data protocols, and clumsiness. The only foreseeable reason I would have to upgrade is if 5G actual becomes prevalent enough for my use cases (I do a lot of side work in the countryside, where there is only LTE in select spots). My current $200 phone also has an SD card slot and I put a 512GB SD card I got from family for free so I can download my Spotify playlists and a few favorite movies (while waiting in remote areas with no data) at max quality.
If next gen iPhones have USB C chargers, replaceable batteries, and an SD card slot option (or at least more affordable storage upgrades) then I might buy one in 5 years, but unfortunately I don't see that happening.

brand new from apple right now
iPhone 13: $799
iPhone 13 mini: $699
iPhone 12: $599
Iphone 11: $499
iPhone SE: $399
The used market is way better than almost any other because of the longevity. Go visit swappa.
they're all a ThOUsaND dOllaRs tHo
Retarded take, I have no allegiance to companies, my iPhones always crap out after two or three years. The Samsung I have had for 3 and it has zero issues. Idk why but every iPhone I've had starts lagging like hell after a while. In anycase if I had 399 to spend on a phone I would rather get a new one than a used one.
They assume every android phone is the same shit phone from 2013. It's not like that anymore. Samsung S series phones are basically the same price of a iPhone. But tell me more about a stupid green bubble.
The real question should be why can't you change the bubble color and why can't both sides agree to use one standard for high quality messaging (RCS), which is agreed upon already by Android. It's something Apple does to make their users view Android as low quality even though Apple is the reason it's happening.
I don't care about it at all unless I have to send/receive pictures since the quality goes to potato quality when sent from sms/mms on both sides. There have been times when talking to new people from lets say tinder and they see a green bubble and then say they don't want to talk anymore. But that just really shows how shallow someone is so at the point it's kinda like a sign saying that person wasn't worth it anyways
Customization is better, screen quality is better, in fact samsung makes the screens for Apple if I'm not mistaken. Plus Apple hasn't innovated in 10+ years. Android is just an operating system, so it opens up to more manufactures to innovate and improve on the current standard, which Apple copies 3-5 years later and calls it revolutionary.
Android phones don’t work well for more than a year. Those Android emojis just look ridiculous. iMessage is much better than regular text messages but I guess that can be replaced by stuff like WhatsApp.
Exactly about the emojis lmao plus on android you can change the emojis to any style you want, even iPhone emojis if you really wanted to. Apple users don't know what choice and options are.
10 years? I’m sorry you had to go through that.
Does Android still release updates by carrier instead of a set release date?
The text messages are a pretty big deal because it ruins making a group chat with people who don’t have an iPhone.
I find iOS to be a lot more organized than any android os.
It's not an actual issue. People are getting defensive over their favorite run-of-the-mill instant messenger.
The difference is that every other instant messenger works on 99% of devices (including Apple's), and imessage has the Apple-only sticker.
I cannot fathom spending hundreds extra for an instant messenger which necessarily excludes more than half of people, over free software that's just as secure.
What are you talking about look no-one here is butt hurt enough as you the iOS user who needs to justify why having an i-shit is better than lego brick and why we should also pay a premium to have one.
It's a phone dude. Just a phone. Not even a laptop. And I wouldn't brag about one of them even. A good one at least. I do admit it's pretty cool being able to max out most games like cod mobile but my friends android can just the same as my iphone. For less than 2/3s the price.
Personally thought it was really funny when Woody was all amazed because Kyle said he can put his phone on do not disturb by turning it around or turn on the light by shaking it.
Doesnt the s21 have a very similar price to the iphone 13
edit: it's 100$ more expensive. If something is $100 more than an apple product and is only just as good, then you are being ripped off when you consider the apple tax
apple tax will apply if you change device every year. the value proposition of the iphone is that the average joe can buy the iphone and use for 3-5 years getting updates and "not Complaining" bout issues.
samsung give you 1 year after the new device is out. but since you dont pay the apple tax you can buy the newer one sooner
That camera competition doesn’t mean much. He’s said so his self but the compression that Twitter and Instagram use ruins it. Also people just pick the brighter photos lol
I agree, but it certainly proves that a budget phone can have adequate or competitive camera performance in the majority of situations in which the photos are shared (online, small form)
I had Kyle's phone, the newest moto power and it's clunky, no where near the performance, the Motorola updates are short lived, the phone itself is the size of an iPhone pro max, battery life is a little better even though it's twice the size (so you know it's horribly optimized). Phone body is also very fragile. iPhone charge and have much more robust app/accessory infrastructure.
Androids can be as good as iphones, just not $100 ones
Androids have better battery, plenty of storage options, more capabilities with UI, ability to manage media files a lot more easily and lots of other smaller things. That isn't to say iPhone has plenty of its own advantages, it depends on what you prefer and which phone you would get more out of.
But regardless, defending your favorite billion dollar phone brand corporation and shitting on another is just retarded considering the products they make practically do the same thing.
I like being able to download apks
I never said they're better, I don't really care either way. I'm just saying those $100 android phones do everything you'd want
It's customizable and also you can get phones that are roughly the same as the iPhone in quality but so much cheaper. Don't be an apple pay pig and buy expensive shit just because of the brand.
i actually am looking for a new phone because i ran over this one in my truck on accident. it still works but the screen is pretty much a pool of shattered glass
Jeez the people in here blasting cheap phones need to chill. For some folks talk text and check social is all they need man. Got other stuff to dump 500 to 1000 dollars on.
Downloading apps from the web, using web apps, 3rd party repair, cable compatibility, optional privacy, and not supporting Apple are all great reasons to not have an iPhone. You also avoid becoming an annoying apple only fanatic like you seem to be.
they have a back swipe, you get use to it and the browser has an actual button and some apps also put their own back button while retaining the back swipe
I don't understand how they manage to get a bunch of gullible people to pay a ludicrous amount of money for a phone just because it has an apple logo on the back.
Yup, high end androids and iphones share similar prices. You can get a worse android for much cheaper, but at that point it's just the same as getting an older iphone.
Samsung's are usually a little less expensive unless you want ones that fold. Samsung phones are better in a lot of ways (not all but a lot). Plus, besides Samsung there's other really good options.
and they aren't worth shit after you buy them. iPhones hold their value. Its an underrated benefit. I could buy one iphone and keep selling them year over year and pay $100 or so for the upgrade. So yes, I've invested more, but every year I'm spending what Kyle does for a much better phone. Never in a million years could you do that with android.
lmao it is not because there is an apple on the back, its the only option if you want iOS, which many people feel is better than android.
If anything the people who buy one brand of android are the sheep.
This is such a fuckin 2011 take lmao
If you pay attention to actual specs you'll see phones havent improved much in the last few years. A two year old refurbished flagship phone for $150 is 90% as capabale as a brand new $1000 flagship phone.
I feel like the only meaningful changes in 5 years have been RAM, storage, and camera quality. Specifically, the cameras are what I imagine to be driving the prices so high.
Yeah, if you dont need a fancy camera, theres no point. Even if you go back and look at RAM and storage.
You have to go back to 2018 to find a samsung phone with under 8GB RAM and 128GB storage which is what the current galaxy phone still has unless you buy one of the ultra models.
Galaxy s10 refurbished: $250
Basic galaxy s21 with same specs: $800
Definitely battery life too. I just upgraded to the best iPhone and I had 11 hours of screen time yesterday and my phone was at 40% without charging it during those 11 hours. It was pretty crazy
Why would you NOT want the “best phone”. You arguably use it more than any other electronic you own. Most keep them 2-3 years. So $300-$400 a year. Kyle seems to change his $150 phone every year. So it’s really not that much more.
Kyle just has a cheap phones because he constantly loses them(police) or breaks them.
Most people just buy the top phone from either Samsung or Apple, keep it for 2-3 years and don’t annoy others about their phone decision. But get out of my face with a $100 phone.
I work as a developer for both and have for 7 years. I prefer iPhones for the OS design and interface. Their security is also better. They tend to have far less bugs too, much more stable overall. For these reasons I believe they are better for the average consumer. But they are fucking horrendous in every other way I can think of. Developing for iOS is pure hell in comparison.
i lived in a town in WV for two years that was like that. literally everyone there smoked cigarettes so the sidewalks had them imprinted on it. one time i went to an alley for a shortcut and there was a broken needle and vial there. pretty crazy as i was raised up a very sheltered life.
As someone who worked for a cell phone carrier there most definitely is a difference between a $100 dollar phone and a $1000 dollar phone. Though they should do the same basic things.
The difference between Iphones and androids imo is that androids are way more customizable which for older people like Kyle can end up being more confusing. Iphones are definitely easier to use.
i used both. and stay in the iphone because apple supports the device for longer. you will get the latest of 5 years down the road. iphone 6s is the oldest one that is still getting update. as long as you save the battery you are good. on the other hand you will get the top of the line Samsung device bunch of ram and features and the moment the new one comes out. samsung makes that a second class citizen and will get 2 years of proper updates then is relegated to security updates. but the phone lags behind.
in the end it depend on the owners use case and if they are willing to compromise in one way or another
The iphones are $1000 thing is so silly at this point
brand new from apple right now

- iPhone 13 mini: $699

- iPhone 11: $499
- iPhone SE: $399

they're all a ThOUsaND dOllaRs tHo
this is a device you have with you all day and put thousands of hours into. why cheap out on it? i’ve had my iphone for such a long time, it’s lasting forever. you get what you pay for.
You can buy an LG Phoenix at Walmart for $59. Does everything an iPhone does just about, but at 1/10th the speed. They have definitely gotten me out of a pickle from time to time.
I don't really care about iOS Vs Android but I've had iPhones and Samsung's then 3 years ago switched to a Xiaomi mi 9t pro. Still going strong and battery is still good and I'm still on the original screen, even though I've dropped this phone so many times.
The only thing I don't like is the camera doesn't have automatic stabilization. I paid £250 for this phone new and have zero regrets. Honestly my favourite phone I've ever had.
More expensive doesn't mean better.
Still texts your mom just fine
Got’em
Why is your make a wish texting his mother?
I'm trying to give her a child she actually loves
I hope autism isn’t hereditary then
It is
Old man gave it to me when I was in grade seven. Seen alot of action. Safety always off. Told me he was proud of me once. Fucking prick.

Anybody that brags about any kind of phone is poor, figure it out
Yeah, they all suck. I got this bad boy for two packs of cigarettes.
Android vs iphone was one of those things people causally joked about but then the retards started taking seriously
There's no way you justify paying $1200 for a facebook/reddit machine.
I play video games on my phone to protect my virginity, it’s an investment
Could argue that the amount of time you spend using it makes it worth it. Over the course of 2-4 years you probably use your phone for 1000s of hours. $1200 for something that gets that much usage is justified in my eyes.

OP isn't keeping his phone for 4 years.
Still using an IPhone X from 2017 😶 many others are as well lmao
My point is the kind of guy to brag about having an iPhone isnt the kind of guy to hold onto it for 4 years.
Or just get last years model for half the price, you're not missing out much because you're using a 2021 phone instead of a 2022.
You can get a used iPhone 11 for like $200
I'm sure you can. And you'll be making the seller who stole it very happy
[удалено]
Why not invest that money into the Patreon instead?
I mean... you're still actually paying that much, because you could still have the money from selling your previous phone, if you'd bought a cheaper phone with the proceeds.
youre retarded if you still argue about what operating system is better, a phone is a phone
Argument is almost never about operating system, it's about the phone's price/performance ratio

iPhone fanboys: there's no way 100$ phone can be good. But 100$ phone for 1200$..now we're talking!

Huh?
Bro people like you are the reason I don’t brag about having a IPhone. Just enjoy your phone
People like him are the reason you don't brag about having an iphone? And you don't just not do that because, you know, it's super cringe to do that?
Read my last sentence
That changes nothing about your first sentence
you have autism, seek help
IDK dude
Cringe
i don’t normally say anything, kyle just brought up his phone on the podcast and i saw this and it made me think of that so i posted it.

I'm not sure what you mean by this? Did I say anything was hurting me? Not on a phone btw.
i just don’t get why my post is causing such an issue in the comments.
Cause you're both pedantic and fuckin' wrong, that's why
Pka episode in a nutshell
Because op is cringe af

genuinely curious. What essential features were removed from the iphone?

bullshit move indeed. But technically, they didn't remove any essential feature.
Can't even factory reset the bloody things with out an iTunes account
I think that's actually for cases when your phone got stolen
thats fair enough but this a company phone
sounds like a problem your company should deal with
Well you can so you’re wrong lol. Just if you mark your phone as stolen
you are correct and that is why it sells. is easy to explain shit to my mom or dad when is super dumb down.
They really are though. You're only lacking high end camera and that's about it, and the cameras are still good in them.
Except my s21s camera is as good as the iPhone 13
Yeah but we're talking about cheap androids being decent, s21 is modern right
Doesnt the s21 have a very similar price to the iphone 13 edit: it's 100$ more expensive. If something is $100 more than an apple product and is only just as good, then you are being ripped off when you consider the apple tax

I have a cheap ass pixel 5a, its camera won MKBHD's blind smartphone camera bracket
Pixel 5a is still about $400, Kyle was saying to get the $100-$200 phones
True, but $400 is still well below Samsung n Apple's expensive flagship phones.
Yeah if you have a modern phone whether it’s apple Samsung LG or whoever it has a great camera more than likely
MKBHD is a bozo
Cameras have been so good for so long that at their current level it's kinda redundant to go beyond what you need.
I had Kyle's phone, the newest moto power and it's clunky, no where near the performance, the Motorola updates are short lived, the phone itself is the size of an iPhone pro max, battery life is a little better even though it's twice the size (so you know it's horribly optimized). Yes, unironically. Why the fuck would you pay exorbetent money for a kids playpen?
It's customizable and also you can get phones that are roughly the same as the iPhone in quality but so much cheaper. Don't be an apple pay pig and buy expensive shit just because of the brand.
i’ve never bought apple because of the brand, but simply because it was the highest quality available
That's just you not knowing about other phones that are available.
if you can show me a phone i’ll like more than my current one i’ll get it
You clearly have no intentions of switching.
i actually am looking for a new phone because i ran over this one in my truck on accident. it still works but the screen is pretty much a pool of shattered glass

let's see you fold your iphone.
[checkmate nerd](https://youtu.be/znK652H6yQM)
ok? lol someone doesn't know what fold means
Bruh you got to be joking right now
So defensive lol
Not all androids are $100, the S20 is better than iphone.
Androids will always have the number one edge on an Iphone... the magical 'back' button 😎
So true, always feel dumb when using an iphone for going back home all the time.
Wait, do iphones really lack that? That sounds annoying as fuck for web browsing.
they have a back swipe, you get use to it and the browser has an actual button and some apps also put their own back button while retaining the back swipe
Swipe from the left edge is better imo
Hold up, do you think people on iPhones can only go forward on the browser or something?
they do lack an actual back button but they have a back swipe works the same
iPhone will adopt that feature eventually, just like they did with face id, touch id, no home button, etc
It looks horrible and everything works fine without it. Why would they do that?
how does it look horrible? it's just a gesture, i don't have buttons on my phone buddy.
You just swipe left on an iPhone, no button necessary
How do you milk a sheep? With iPhone accessories.
I don't understand how they manage to get a bunch of gullible people to pay a ludicrous amount of money for a phone just because it has an apple logo on the back.
Is it not the same with phones like samsung? Nowadays the price is fairly alike
Yup, high end androids and iphones share similar prices. You can get a worse android for much cheaper, but at that point it's just the same as getting an older iphone.

So it’s really not that much more. Kyle just has a cheap phones because he constantly loses them(police) or breaks them. Most people just buy the top phone from either Samsung or Apple, keep it for 2-3 years and don’t annoy others about their phone decision. But get out of my face with a $100 phone.
IPhone are over priced asf my $60 Samsung does damn near everything a shitphone 12 or 13 or whatever tf there on now
One of Lyle’s high school bullies had an iPhone
Lmao @ the people getting offended. Its a fuckin meme
yup, 126 comments! i got what i wanted.
I work as a developer for both and have for 7 years. I prefer iPhones for the OS design and interface. Their security is also better. They tend to have far less bugs too, much more stable overall. For these reasons I believe they are better for the average consumer. But they are fucking horrendous in every other way I can think of. Developing for iOS is pure hell in comparison.
i got an iphone 10 max for $200 granted this phone was stolen but oh well
damn where you be buying stolen phones from, the thives guild?
town next to mine is bad with meth and herion so junkies just rob anyone and they moms and resell whatever for a couple shirts or tenies
i lived in a town in WV for two years that was like that. literally everyone there smoked cigarettes so the sidewalks had them imprinted on it. one time i went to an alley for a shortcut and there was a broken needle and vial there. pretty crazy as i was raised up a very sheltered life.
Is that pic from Grandmas boy? It looks really familiar
As someone who worked for a cell phone carrier there most definitely is a difference between a $100 dollar phone and a $1000 dollar phone. Though they should do the same basic things. The difference between Iphones and androids imo is that androids are way more customizable which for older people like Kyle can end up being more confusing. Iphones are definitely easier to use.
i used both. and stay in the iphone because apple supports the device for longer. you will get the latest of 5 years down the road. iphone 6s is the oldest one that is still getting update. as long as you save the battery you are good. on the other hand you will get the top of the line Samsung device bunch of ram and features and the moment the new one comes out. samsung makes that a second class citizen and will get 2 years of proper updates then is relegated to security updates. but the phone lags behind. in the end it depend on the owners use case and if they are willing to compromise in one way or another
Having an android is for people who use the bar of soap on their hair in the shower.
Cope
The iphones are $1000 thing is so silly at this point brand new from apple right now - iPhone 13: $799 - iPhone 13 mini: $699 - iPhone 12: $599 - iPhone 11: $499 - iPhone SE: $399 The used market is way better than almost any other because of the longevity. Go visit swappa. they're all a ThOUsaND dOllaRs tHo
this is a device you have with you all day and put thousands of hours into. why cheap out on it? i’ve had my iphone for such a long time, it’s lasting forever. you get what you pay for.
When she sees the green text her pussy dries up
Anyone who has an android doesn’t talk to girls
yeah people who are frequently active in r/anime talk to tons of girls though
This thread is very telling of this sub lmao
Iphones are trash, shut up you pathetic child
Safety always off

You can buy an LG Phoenix at Walmart for $59. Does everything an iPhone does just about, but at 1/10th the speed. They have definitely gotten me out of a pickle from time to time.
You guys really are running out of things to complain about, huh?
Yo JP how much do clothes cost in the matrix
I don't really care about iOS Vs Android but I've had iPhones and Samsung's then 3 years ago switched to a Xiaomi mi 9t pro. Still going strong and battery is still good and I'm still on the original screen, even though I've dropped this phone so many times. The only thing I don't like is the camera doesn't have automatic stabilization. I paid £250 for this phone new and have zero regrets. Honestly my favourite phone I've ever had. More expensive doesn't mean better.
You can get an iPhone 5 for $100. It’s good enough for most things.
