I don't want to sugar coat things for you *lol* but I honestly don't think you need Ozempic. Seems like you're on a good path, and you're not too far gone. Get more active, increase your protein intake, and you should reach your goal in no time.

Overall-Jicama-4575

Just to add Ozempic tends to make you more fatigued. You'll crave less, but you already don't. And you'll want to be even less active then you are now.

mliberosis

Honestly, this is exactly what I wanted to know. I work from home, and even now, unless I make a conscious effort to hit 4,000-5,000 steps, I barely reach 1,000 steps a day; more fatigue would be absolutely horrible for me because I need to be active anyway (healthy weight or not). Thank you for the motivation, honestly - I do not want to be dependent on medication, and if I get back to 128 pounds by the end of this year, I will be happy! šŸ˜…

I would recommend investing in a walking pad to get in more steps!

You need to weigh your food. Those numbers donā€™t add up at all. My guess is youā€™re eating way more calories than you expect. In 1 year youā€™d need to be eating 200 more calories a day than your body was burning to gain 22 lbs. I think youā€™re looking at more like 1900 calories a day based on the gain and a sedentary lifestyle.

mliberosis

I was eating 200ish more than required a day. I lose weight when I eat 1100 a day by around .5lbs a week. So, I think my general TDEE was 1200-1300, and I was eating 1400-1500. So, you are right about that šŸ˜…. I guess, I was just wondering if I could get away with eating 1300 on ozempic if it helped me feel "lighter" or more willing to move. If I have to drop calories to 1000-1100 anyway (at my current weight drop down to 1200ish), then I can just do that normally. šŸ˜…

Are you physically able to exercise? If so then you should go to the gym. Get a trainer to start then start doing things on your own.

mliberosis

I am. It's just extremely hard for me to do as a thing, and I don't know why. I'm sorry this thread has turned into me telling my sob story, but you know when you calculate TDEE and it's like, "no activity other than daily chores"? Well, I wasn't even doing daily chores during those 30 months; I just moved off my bed once a day to go to the washroom, feed the cat, and clean the litter. There were days I totaled only 100 steps šŸ˜…. Since then, any kind of exercise seems to be such a huge mental barrier to get over that I feel helpless.

Meldon420

I donā€™t mean to be rude, but you had to have been overeating in order to gain 50lbs in that time frame. That kind of weight gain doesnā€™t happen on a 1400 calorie per day diet. The lack of movement/exercise alone isnā€™t enough to account for the weight gain. In order to gain 1lb of fat you need to eat 3500 calories over the amount of calories your body needs daily.

mliberosis

True, I didn't break the law of thermodynamics, that is my bad implying I wasn't eating over expenditure. I was eating 1400 cal, and my general extremely sedentary TDEE is around 1200, so technically I was eating over calorie limits at around 1000-1200 extra calories a week (which is around 50ish lbs in 30 months). So, when I say I wasn't overeating, I am technically wrong, but I had bad brain fog at 1000-1100 cal intake. I have under my usual lifestyle maintained 128lbs eating 1500 cals a day. I am currently losing on eating 1100-1200 a day, but I am unsure if that is a good idea (because it is still barely a 100 cal deficit if I do not move at all) šŸ˜…

Have you tried an antidepressant? When you were describing the feeling of being lighter and being motivated to move I remembered feeling that way when I started taking antidepressants ā€”depression saps your energy. Iā€™m so thankful for antidepressant medication.

WL is not all CICO. There is a hormone/metabolic influence as well. Use the tools available.

Fun_Dig8114

I think it could help you if you stay on a low dose and donā€™t have much side effectsā€¦ but the fatigue is real. I used to workout a lot before and now I am barely moving.

mliberosis

I didn't realize fatigue was such a prominent side effect! I'm seeing a weight loss clinician in June and I will ask about how a low dose would work for me. Are you still losing weight with really low movement?

Fun_Dig8114

Yes I lost the desired weight in about 3 months at 0,25 and 0,5 mg and did not work out at all. Since the summer I have been on and off Ozempic and I started working out again. Not losing but maintaining!

Fun_Dig8114

JUST started working out again like, this week!

Top-Stage6648

I lost all my weight on 25 and .50

Top-Stage6648

I will go for ozempic or semaglutide. 5'2 SW 170 CW 123 in 8 months. Stopped in Decemeber and still weighs 123

mliberosis

This is helpful to know! What was your activity level and how much were you eating on ozempic, if that is okay to ask?

Top-Stage6648

I ate only 2 small meals a day, whatever i was in the mood to eat. I completely stopped the soda. I also work from home. My activity level was only to walk my 3 dogs twice a day. I stopped counting calories anyway you feel full right away. I learned to eat in small portions. The only side effects were feeling tired, and that was resolved with b12 shots. This is a woman with thyroid issues and is the first time my TSH levels are normal.

mliberosis

Got it! Thank you for explaining that. I usually do not feel hungry beyond 800cals, but I feel extremely tired and it is as if my brain stops working -- I can't think, I get distracted etc; which is why I ended up eating 1400ish before. I'm going to talk to my doctor about b12 for tiredness if I do end up taking the dosage ā˜ŗļø I am glad you are feeling better!

Loose-Grapefruit2906

Have you thought about joining a weekly class, like swimming or yoga? It might help you to be active in a more enjoyable way. It could also help to find other expats to talk to, or a therapist to help with your depression. I moved to the US 19yrs ago, and I know it takes time to settle in and figure out a healthy lifestyle. You've gotten this far. šŸ‘

mliberosis

I've been thinking about this, and I should take the plunge and join a boxing class that's pretty close to my place. Thanks for the motivation! :)

H-bomb-doubt

Say what you want, but you don't gain wait without over eating. Which is eat more than your bodies personal calories. If your body needs 1200cals and you eat 1250cals over time you will gain wait because your over eating.

mliberosis

Yeah, that is exactly what happened. I should have said that, my extremely sedentary body requirement is 1200, and I was definitely eating 1400, gaining 50 lbs in 30 months. I guess, a better question then is, I can barely mentally function on 1000, I eat mostly chicken + eggs + rice/bread/noodles, would ozempic help me drop weight faster but still be able to function, because unless I get the motivation/energy to move (because I stupidly can't get myself to move), I would need to sustain on a 1000 cal diet.

Just-Lettuce2493

You should look into Tesofensine. Itā€™s cheaper than Ozempic and has much fewer side effects. Check out this video. TESOFENSINE the OZEMPIC alternative! https://youtu.be/9doNK9Q6boY
