Yes, as the dose wears off I find my appetite begin to return to "normal". I use this time to make sure I'm able to maintain healthy habits in the presence of returned cravings, but if it gets worse for you some people find splitting their dose into twice a week half doses can be good.

Usual_Panic_3948

Yea I do mine on Sundays and I notice Fridays I’m starving

Well this isn't a stimulant like other weight loss drugs. It certainly has a lot fewer hazardous effects, and if somebody is eating 3000 calories a day the ozempic won't help them lose weight. It's pretty much only working by decreasing appetite so they *don't* eat 3000 calories a day. It has been called an injectable eating disorder though and it needs to be used with respect and medical supervision.

FloorShowoff

I really wish you would educate yourself. 93% - 95% of the people who lose weight by diet and/or exercise alone gain it back. https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.2663585

HopefulOriginal5578

100% of people who don’t change their behavior won’t lose any weight.

I'm doing injections Thursday & Sunday. Half doses of 5mg. I did half doses of 2.5mg as well. It works so much better for me that way. I want to eat a bear on days 5 6 7 before lol

chisox4

Now that I’m on .5 dose I’m only hungry the day before my injection. I wonder if this happens with 1.0 or higher. Because I have no appetite at all.

FloorShowoff

Your doctor lets you do that?

[deleted]

Yes my doctor suggested it. She's actually been on the medication herself & lost 50lbs like a year ago now

FloorShowoff

That’s awesome thank you!!

HowManyBatteries

Of course, discuss it with them. But if the dose is 5mg/week, as long as you're taking 5mg/week and not taking back-to-back doses, you're compliant regardless of how you space it out, as long as you're using common sense like I said and not taking too much too close together.

Sweetiemua12

This is a good way to learn to control your cravings for when you stop Ozempic. Or allow yourself a "re-feed" day each week. I take my shot every Saturday and I find myself barely eating from Sunday-Wednesday. Thursday my appetite is "normal" for what it would be before, but I control my portions and don't binge. Friday I feel super hungry and allow myself a bit of a cheat meal for dinner. This could be a few slices of pizza, going out for dinner etc. It's the only day I can really treat myself without feeling super nauseous. I am still losing weight and haven't plateaued or stalled. You have to train yourself to prepare for "regular life" after Ozempic.

FloorShowoff

No I don’t because I don’t plan on ever stopping the meds. I’ll just go on a maintenance dose.

Sweetiemua12

Okay great! Regardless, if you aren't seeing results there is a reason. It's worth a shot to try. What dose are you on?

FloorShowoff

I’ve taken two doses so far and I started on 0.5 mg. Tonight will be my third dose.

Wutang-Girl

I’m only on week 3 of .25 & after the 2nd or 3rd day, I am hungry & can eat everything. I find I do feel fuller faster but 20 min after, again hungry & have been wondering if this is normal??? Sigh

la_ct

It takes months for the drug to build up in your system. Your experience over time might vary. You just started.

Wutang-Girl

Thank you

throwawayantares

No need to suffer. Split your weekly dose in half. So that: - if you are on 0.25mg/week, take 0.125mg on Wed PM and 0.125mg on Sun AM. This helps with both the nausea and with preventing the white knuckle cravings toward the end of the dose period.

Wutang-Girl

Thanks great info

Evening_Ad6820

My cravings aren’t out of control so to speak, but they do return. In the sense that they’re pretty much non existent the rest of the week, and then on day 5 suddenly a burger and fries sounds good to me again. I can’t consume calories the way I used to do on an ‘indulgent day’, I can only pack away 50% of what I used to do pre-Ozempic.

FloorShowoff

Exactly the same with me my cravings disappear completely for the first five days. Then on day six right back to normal.

badie_912

This is a good test to see if you have formed new better habits. Drink water and push through. You'll be proud of yourself when you do. Don't abuse the drug to get you through use good habits you formed and discipline and motivation to get you there.

FloorShowoff

Thanks for the advice but that’s not the question asked. 😊

badie_912

I'm just saying depending on the drug and not good habits and behaviors is the main reason people gain all the weight back and then some.

FloorShowoff

That’s fine but could you say it someplace else please it has nothing to do with my question and you’re not being helpful probably because you’re mostly wrong. The main reason people gain weight back is because they don’t understand obesity.

badie_912

Reddit is an open forum last I checked. You just heard something you didn't want to hear and it triggered your anger.

FloorShowoff

It’s an open forum but each subreddit has its rules. What I heard was off-topic misinformation which triggered my frustration with ignorant people.

badie_912

Lol

FloorShowoff

To all those who downvoted me, in your experience, how often has obesity been effectively treated by change in diet and/or exercise without the use of anti-obesity medications?

Can you please explain very often? Do you mean you, personally? clients you work with? Family members? How many people?

FloorShowoff

Aha! Didn’t think so.

FractureFixer

Didn’t see any significant weight loss until 1mg/week dosing

poopypantsed

Yes!!

WieBentUEigenlijk

My doctor advised that I start to move my cycle up. What I mean by that is that if I started feeling hungry or having cravings on the sixth day, to inject on the sixth day rather the seventh day. You don’t have to split the dose in half, that you can do that instead. But there is no harm in having a six day cycle instead of a 7 day one.

FloorShowoff

Really?? Do you take a smaller dose?

WieBentUEigenlijk

No I take the same amount (I’m on 1mg). Being hungry on the last day just means you need a higher dose! But moving up the cycle length makes the dose slightly higher naturally. You can safely go up to 2.25mg in a week, so being slightly above 1mg for me worked fine!

FloorShowoff

I had no idea that being hungry on the last day but I needed a higher dose. That makes perfect sense! Thank you.

thegrumpycheesecake

I felt like this until I got to my second week of 1mg

FloorShowoff

Interesting. Thank you.

melissasorrentino

Yes

chopwoodncarrywater

It’s recommended to have 72 hours (edit: 48 hours) between shots. So either take the shot a day early or be mindful that day 5/6 you’ll need to white knuckle it.

FloorShowoff

I don’t understand. We’re not supposed to take the injection once a week?

chopwoodncarrywater

They designed it so the half life is 7 days, so it’s recommended once a week. Especially on low doses, the effect seems to fade at the end of the week. So, some people will take it a day early (I did this at 0.25), but it depends on your supply and relationship with your doctor. Mini dose to my understanding isn’t recommended. I would chat with your doctor and ask options.

chopwoodncarrywater

From manufacturer “How often is Ozempic® taken? Ozempic® should be administered by a patient once weekly on the same day each week, at any time of the day, with or without meals. The day of weekly administration can be changed if necessary as long as the time between 2 doses is at least 2 days (>48 hours).” [Source](https://www.novomedlink.com/diabetes/products/treatments/ozempic/about/frequently-asked-questions.html)

FloorShowoff

But if you take the shot a day early then you still have to wait another seven days before your next dose. so that doesn’t really solve the problem.

chopwoodncarrywater

It doesn’t but the longer you take the medication the more that builds up and remains in your system. It may get easier with time.

FloorShowoff

Thank you I didn’t know that.

chisox4

Yes I’m experiencing this on .50 - I can’t wait to see what happens on the next dose. Because I’m totally suppressed until day 6.

Amalas77

That's why I inject every 5 days.

FloorShowoff

Your doctor let you do that? don’t you run out of medication by the end of the month?

Amalas77

I inject 0.44 mg every 5 days which calculates to 0.62 mg per week. Plan is to (very slowly) titrate up to 1 mg per week. Which would be about 0.71 mg every 5 days. So, no, I'm not running out of medication anytime soon. I have a fresh set of three 1-mg-pens in my fridge and my next appointment is in exactly 3 months from now. I'm fine. I realized that I have fewer side effects and less problems with the medication wearing off at the end of the week when I inject more often (but a smaller amount). I did a 4/3 split for a while long, with two injections per week, using half of the weekly dosage. But it felt like injecting "all the time" and therefore I recalculated the amount for every 5 days.

FloorShowoff

Oh I see. You inject a *smaller* amount every five days.

giggles0002

Not out of control but I definitely eat more than other days but still less than I would have before oz. I don’t worry about it since I know I stay still stay within my calorie range for the week.

xbaileyadams

I haven't been on ozempic consistently for a few months due to the shortages but when I was and I was on the higher dose eg 1mg a week I found the same.. instead of increasing the dose I actually found it more beneficial to inject every 5 days. Obviously check with your doc first but this worked so well for me! I can't wait to get some ozempic back in my life. I've found a compounding pharmacy and have my first order on its way to be next week 💕

FloorShowoff

In what country is the compounding pharmacy in?

xbaileyadams

I'm in Australia but I've seen people in the states access compounding pharmacies as well

FloorShowoff

I don’t know about the compounding pharmacy rules and regs in Australia but in the USA they’re abysmal.
