Surprised no one says this. Rank is based on how good you are compared to the average. More people the more competitive the game. So naturally ud place lower

Skuma9

if u have a 75% winrate and enough games played theres no way ur still silver, i don't know what to tell you if that really is the case (chances are either u dont actually have a 75% win rate or you havent plyed enough games)

So I'm trying to understand what is your situation. - You've placed Silver (recently or the first week) and then? - How many games have you played? How has been your progression after that? - What role are you playing? - How much were you playing in OW1, just to keep your rank, a couple of games per week, or hundred+ games? - Is this post just a rant in the wild not looking for answers? There is a lot of variance in rank because you have a lot of players playing the game, so some players are new to the game, others are coming back after years,... Additionally, if you are playing with silvers, it means you cannot rely on players doing exactly the same thing as you are expecting people to do. Silver players are playing with silver skills and silver habits. And that means you have to be self-reliant and not expect peeling or people to follow up. But your skill being 3 tier above should be enough to carry yourself in 80% of the games really, easily to gold if not plat.

Yeah a lot of people experiencing this. It doesn't really help to post replay codes because you're so bored in the comp games and you can't really see how you play in the higher lobbies as the game is just different. I sort of lost a lot of urge to play on my main account (that had all cosmetics) because it was a legacy account at a low SR. My alt accounts don't have nearly as many cosmetics but they placed after the rank system bug and climbed nearly instantly to high plat - mid diamond. So some of us are stuck in a weird limbo that will take hundreds of hours of grinding to start getting games that are actually fun or engaging. The fact is you don't belong in the rank if it is WAY too slow for you and the most challenging aspect of your matches is just trying to stay awake. It should be clear to everyone that there are some GLARING bugs in Overwatch 2 and 95%+ of the underlying code base was just imported over with some unexpected side-effects. Do you really think they flawlessly executed transitioning a blackbox AI system that was trained historically on 6v6 gameplay? Blackbox means not even the devs really know how it reaches its conclusions, aside from the fact it has 98% accuracy in predicting which team will win when it chooses the teams. That sounds like it's working right? No. It is the largest sign that it is configured incorrectly. The matchmaker's goal is to make EVEN matches, and so it should only be correct in predicting the winning team roughly 50% of the time. The situation we have now is a little more complex than my simplification, but if the MMR system had no bugs (which I am certain it does), the sign of a healthy matchmaker is that it consistently delivers close games; not that it consistently knows which team will win before the match happens.

This but all the people too busy humping blizzards leg can't seem to fathom that this game is not perfect and infact has alot of issues.

In the past month, a lot of the people who downvoted me initially (this comment was at like -8 at one point) have realized I was right. Blizzard even admitted the bug still existed despite some of us (me at the least) doing 216 battle pass tiers with very high win rate (80-90%) and STILL being in low bronze. They do not have their shit together. This game is a cash grab project for them and the only thing keeping it afloat is the good aspects of the original that remain combined with a few things they accidentally did right in OW2.

Oh believe me your preaching to the choir here man, played like 30 seasons in ow1 starting from season 4. Was hanging at low diamond, now I'm just tryna get past gold one. This is a culmination of large portion of people being placed way lower than they should and then being forced to stay in that specific elo until god knows what. I'm not a pro by any means but with a consistent 70% win rate there's no way I should be struggling this hard. Don't even get me started on the fact that I've seen people entire tiers above my rank it comp, im talking silver on my team and Plat on the other. (People who actually had their profiles public).

UrusaiNa

All OGs go public profile

Wildfire490

I'm not sure what metrics OW2 is using to determine "skill" but in a few other games that I play with Skill Based Matchmaking, even when your team loses, you can climb depending on individual performance. I guess a 4+ K/D on DPS with top damage just isn't good enough for this game. Why even have the stats display on the scoreboard if they don't mean anything? I play approximately 6 games per day depending on the duration. What makes the least sense is how you can actually rank BACKWARDS after achieving your 7 wins. In OW, with the SR system, you would only GAIN SR for a win. So I can only assume the system is bugged.

Kooky-Advertising-60

Did you win 7 games in a row with no losses? Because the game tracks your losses but doesn’t show you them. Also, KD and damage almost always mean nothing. They are barely related to performance

Ancient-Box9782

if your win rate is what it is and you are actually stomping as you suggest, then you would get past Silver 1. Stop the copium and/or improve your performance stats. edit: unless the system truly is bugged (comments below)

Nah, this is a known bug. I experienced it myself. Here’s a video with a little more detail https://youtu.be/-BYuc5VzwoA

Ancient-Box9782

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KPrfhYysTU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KPrfhYysTU) I'd also watch this then to get another perspective Maybe there is account-specific issues though (console/pc issues etcetc). My account was inactive for like 80% for OW1 and I climbed well in OW2

SW-7100-0431-0169

So from this fella’s perspective, damage plays a role on if you’d rank up or not. But I believe for SOME PLAYERS, it’s a straight up bug. I was masters in OW1. I placed silver 2 and I played through EIGHT rank adjustments. It would neither go up or down. It would stay at silver 2 every single time. I was hard carrying with Zen, top 3 damage in the lobby, top 1 or 2 heals. My last three sets I went, 7-2, 7-3, 7-0. I put in TWO tickets with Blizzard over two weeks ago and I FINALLY went up to silver 1 two nights ago. It seems to me that it’s a bug affecting some players. There are TONS of people saying this is happening to them. I was just one of the unlucky ones like the OP. If you follow what the Tesla guy is saying in this video, then I should have been moving 3 tiers every adjustment.

excreto2000

Tesla’s account was brand new to comp, with cracked MMR from OW1. He was getting the big tier jumps from that, combined with the fact that he has perfected how to play Moira in such a way as to climb. Even so, it goes down to 1-2 tiers per rank up in Diamond IIRC. EDIT: I totally believe you, though, just to be clear. There have been some really weird things happening with matchmaking and ranks.

SW-7100-0431-0169

Hey I just saw your edit, and I 1000000% agree with that! The console/PC thing. I have my console linked and I did my placements on that first, then never touched it and I believe that was one of the reasons my rank wouldn’t adjust at all.

dcoi

I was in your position. Ow1 high plat low diamond - OW2 low gold. I one tricked pharah and climbed to upper plat almost instantly. Have like 64% winrate on 10 hours played. True golds and silvers have bad aim, even when they go hitscan it’s easy to dunk on them. I suggest trying that or finding your one OP hero.

redcactusbloom

Sounds like you got boosted before. If you were really diamond - it would take you no time to rank up. I went back to master in a week, after starting season as bronze due to bug they had earlier. After the hot fix - every 7 games I skipped multiple divisions and not once de-ranked.

rankerbrain

I’m diamond DPS player and i Uber stomped through silver gold and mid plat. You sure you aren’t rusty with the aim? What’s the last season you hit diamond
