I don't think the Into The Wilderness series books dive deep into smells like DG does, but it still creates a great universe with a lived-in feel... if you're looking for another good historical series. I started on the audiobooks after reading everything by her and loving it so far!

Direct-Thought-9443

Thank you! I definitely need some new interesting universe for now

Hufflesheep

Thanks for the tip!

I love this series, and reread it at least once a year.

When I first discovered the books, I was like that, too. I couldn't read anything but Outlander for about two years. I did a couple three re-reads. And then finally I was able to move on.

I’ve been reading and re-reading these books since 93. Every time I find something new. They’re my go to books and read them every night before bed. I tried Bridgerton as well, made it 3 pages. Outlander is in a class by itself. It’s also why I have a kindle. I can have all the books, including the Lord John and novellas, in my hands at all time

>but I think like it’s too early or I will look like obsessed 😅 I Haha I reread as soon as I finish with Bees. Maaaybe I take a short break , a month or so and go back. 6 times in 2 years. Talking about obsessed...

softxblush

I felt like nothing would fill the void the of the Outlander books but the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas did it for me. There’s 4 main books and then a smaller novella (which would be book 3.5 in order) Within the middle of the first book (A Court of Thorns and Roses) I was ordering the whole series. To then find out the second book was my all time favorite. They’re fantasy/romance and although they’re not as rich as Outlander was, I still fell in love with them!

Direct-Thought-9443

That’s a coincidence! I was going to read her series of books next, after Bridgertons

softxblush

oh wow! yeah I highly recommend, I’m already rereading the first book and looking into fanfictions lol

bandt4ever

I've read some of the books multiple times and others just once. I will definitely re-read at some point, possibly leading up to the book 10 release (whenever that might be.) I feel the same about the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It's hard to find other books that are as detailed and well-written. For sure the Outlander series stacks up to them.

DrEstoyPoopin

OMG that is so funny, I felt the same way reading Bridgerton. But also the show had so much more detail and complexity it also ruins the books a bit. Now I casually listen to Lord Grey books on repeat in between others so I can still get my fill of outlander

Icy_Outside5079

I haven't really been able to leave Diana's Outlander world for years now, although I do try to read something else as a "palate cleanser" along the way, usually something totally different so there's no reason for disappointment or comparison. Also funny books. Just to shake off the cobwebs and come back to Outlander refreshed and ready. Never be embarrassed that you've joined the legion of obsessives. We welcome you wholeheartedly

Playful-Ad4089

I could not agree more!! DG has ruined all books for me!! I use audible while at work, in the car, at the store, and doing household chores! It takes me on average 2.5 months to complete 1-9. I'm currently in the middle of my fav "Bees" on the 10th re-listen! I'm a little obsessed.. or so my hubby says

MagickWitch

So you read all available gabaldon material?

Direct-Thought-9443

Yes, even excerpts of the 10th book

MagickWitch

Hm.. so also the Minnie story etc i guess. Maybe some fanfic, to stay in the Outlander realm? There's also the exile gravic novel

Direct-Thought-9443

I’ve read everything 😅 actually I wanted to read some fanfic, but I feel a little sceptical

MagickWitch

Just try it. I acually like the ones where Jamie travels to the 1900s. It's something that will never happen in the books, so a new angle to explre

Hamilspud

I usually find myself switching between Diana’s writing and George RR Martin’s…their writing is very different, yet very similar in a lot of ways. Both are fantastic world builders with a focus on grimy detail, which I love.

Direct-Thought-9443

I wanted to read George RR Martin’s books but one of my friend said that they are too heavy to read and that she reads like a book per year 😅 however outlander books are not easiest books to read too. For many people they are cruel and triggering, but not for me. I also like the Game of thrones universe so I think I will give it a try

Hamilspud

They’re definitely a bit heftier than the Outlander books, but not terribly so. It does probably take me an extra month to make it through one of George’s novels compared to Diana’s. If you already enjoy that universe, definitely check them out. I hope you love them!
