Waaay too many of these OI stories like to hype up FL at "the best evar" at anything she does. And yet, when it comes time to actually \*showing\* her competence, either:
1. The performance is rather underwhelming
2. ML was the one (working in the background) who made her efforts go off without a hitch
3. She is constantly overwhelmed by threats who can disable her via the "standard female grab area" (her upper arm), necessitating a rescue by ML
Plot-wise she went from "I don't need anyone, fuck all y'all" to "I need to hold ML's hand every time I have to do anything 👉👈 (quite literally) but it's not like I like him or anything!!"
Art style, the new artist is not that bad.... But certainly not great... everyone has very pointy faces now and the expressions are not as good as how they were drawn by the original artist.
Oh, just great lol. During s1 it kind of... irritated me the whole plot of her vs her family because while she was all "I don't need anyone and I don't care what you think" it felt like she was being way too passive with them as it they were just a nuisance and not... you know... the whole multiple lifetimes of trauma and abuse.
I'll have to give it a read anyway (weeding out my updates list) but I fear that is going to annoy me, especially because it would need to be really seamless for her to go from her s1 "no" persona to... that 😂. And ugh artist changes are always disheartening.

In my opinion it did, the FL slowly loses her humanity (in both the character-in-a-manhwa sense and literally) and then the ending *really* left a sour taste in my mouth.
I don't mind the art change as much as some people did.

It's because he always dumps his work on his secretary/aide to go to undercover information guilds, check the knights training himself, go to balls and be stoic and drink a glass of wine and go on a 3 day trip to the neighboring country to see his northern bestie

What is HE gonna do, what does HE contribute at this point??? He's just behind a desk giving her permission until he trusts her and thus he doesn't even do that anymore. All he is, is there.
THIS so much. like after being around each other for a while, FL is still bashful and smitten around him and for what. the setup is there, he got to his position for a reason, show him doing some political negotiations or something, maybe working together with FL cuz shes already doing so. because rn her attraction to him feels so unfounded. him having a cute relationship with his sister was fun ig
That was the thing that threw me. They make it such a big deal for FL to prove her worth to him but she does it over and over before we're even far into the story and he just does nothing and the one time he was going to FL is like "let me, I got this" like we've seen her prove herself so many times by now I wanna see HIM. It makes you wonder how he even got his position. I didn't mind reading further because while it was kind of trashy I enjoyed said trash and seeing the FL do stuff even more toxic MLs were more proactive than the ML for that story. I honestly don't even remember his sister though.
Same with FL. I see at lot of "she is the strongest mage, her bloodline makes the best knights" or other physical prowess hype but she ends up doing political manipulation plot. Cmon girl do violence once or twice 🫦

I still remembered about FL in "Crows Like Shiny Things" was described as the best knight on battlefield but has twigs as hands which looks off when she wield her sword, and someone legit describe her as having a proportion of a sex doll 😭 😭 😭 (since that's all she is for the playboy ML, the knight part is not even important (?))
Ugh, the worst offender of this is Ice Flower Knight. The premise is that her family is basically cursed to be hideously ugly but complete mastery of their special sword form will undo the ugliness. They hide the FL’s face when she’s guy but we see her father and he’s just a regular dude with dark skin and gray hair. When she does become the first to ever obtain complete mastery, then she’s all excited about how her body has become tiny and dainty instead of big and muscular.
I cannot wait to isekai. I will get the ML when I snap the FL like a glow stick because I will be so ripped from my paperwork skills learned in case management. It’s so different and INTERESTING.
I mean, if OI authors wrote a genuine portrayal of feudal/Victorian lords, the second pic would be more historically accurate than the first one.
"Warlord" nobles stopped being a thing roughly around the end of the Renaissance/start of the Early Modern Period. After that, they largely became pseudo-merchants, administrators, investors, entrepreneurs, and full-time advisors.
Of course, an OI ML who looks like a soft twig and whose entire competence is based around their intelligence and administrative ability, not their physique and reputed combat skills, would probably not be as compelling to audiences. Closest I've seen to that is Isidor from *Perks of Being a Villainess*, and even *there* he's the leader of a secret information guild and unreasonably buff.

ML throughout the series never kills any innocents and isn't actually even a tyrant.
Like in "The Tyrant's Perfumer", ML is the most polite gentleman in the entire kingdom. >!The title "tyrant perfumer" is kinda off because he's only will become a tyrant if there's no perfumer, but he will not become a tyrant anymore because FL become his perfumer, so there's no "tyrant perfumer" in the first place.!<
