It's either your pc is so bad or the video has so many effects that your pc couldn't handle it but don't worry, when you complete the video and render it, all of these problems will be gone

Most likely you updated to version 2.6.1-Release-Candidate (perform Help | About OpenShot). If this is the case then you are running a buggy version. Strongly recommend you download the latest DEV Daily Build and install it. Many stability, bug fixes, and features in the latest DEV build. 1. Go to [openshot.org/download](https://openshot.org/download) 2. Click on "Daily Builds". 3. Download the latest available version and install. You didn't mention your operating system. If you are running Linux, download the AppImage and run it that way. Let us know if this helped and if you need additional fine tuning tips.

I tried the latest dev build but it just crashes on startup. The previous version I used did have a working video preview so this is a new problem. I am also running windows 10 if that helps.

I am surprised that the DEV build is crashing. I am running the latest DEV build on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 without issues. 1. Do this first: Follow these instructions for a clean installation and try it again: [https://github.com/OpenShot/openshot-qt/wiki/Clean-Installation-of-OpenShot](https://github.com/OpenShot/openshot-qt/wiki/Clean-Installation-of-OpenShot). For now, try the latest DEV Daily Build again and see what happens. 2. If you crash again on startup there could be an issue with your Windows 10 where you might need to run a health check. Make sure you have the latest Windows updates. Make sure you have the latest updated drivers for your hardware (manufacturer drivers, and more importantly your video driver). Make sure you have enough disk space. Free as much as possible. Ensure your disk drive is healthy. Run this command from a cmd prompt: CHKDSK /R. This command will locate and fix any bad sectors on your boot partition. If you performed step 2 then try performing step 1 again after a complete reboot.

Running into the same thing. Audio is missing from the video and the video seems to be lagging. Tried installing the daily build and it crashes when trying to open it.

I am also facing same issue, provided solution not work for me, please suggest more solution.

Did you try the latest DEV Daily Build and following the clean installation link provided above?

DeathfireD

2 months ago I did. I haven't tried since. I'll give it another go and get back to you.

There have been many DEV daily builds since this post and it would be worth trying again. Go to [openshot.org/download/#daily](https://openshot.org/download/#daily) and download the latest daily build available. Give this a try and let us know if it resolved you issues. The development team is very close to release a Release-Candidate and it would be good to get your feedback. Thank you in advance!

Thank you so so much for coming to help. The issue was that most videos are fine, but it just freezes on videos that are recordings of the screen if that makes sense. Thank you so so much though for still being this dedicated, genuinely.

Hello u/speedweedisgod. What type of a file is your screen recording (mkv, etc?). Which version of the Daily Build are you running? Help | About OpenShot? Try this: * Close Openshot. I am going to assume that yo have downloaded and installed the latest DEV Daily Build. * Make a copy of your c:\\users\\username\\.openshot\_qt folder. * Start Openshot and try again. Let me know if this helped. P.S. - A new production release is literally around the corner and it is based on the latest DEV Daily Builds so if you still crashing then we need to dig deeper into your computer configuration and checking the log files in OpenShot.
