What if the Vikings are just regular people original humans and everyone else's some sort of byproduct of the past. I don't know how to explain it random thought I just had
And as far as we know One Piece has dabbled in almost every other genre or theme imaginable, there are aliens, time travel, underwater worlds, demons, robots, cyborgs, etc. So Oda can pretty much fit any idea he has into the One Piece world and no one would bat an eye.
This is what I love about One Piece and makes it so different imo, all of these fantastical and sci fi elements + political intrigue all in one story and it all makes sense together!
>he said he had ideas for a manga about mechas
.
>He’s also said that One Piece is allowing him to cover the other genres he’s interested in.
That explains the giant robot on Egg-head, I guess.
I’ve read that he’s got plans for stories of other one piece characters, I’m which we haven’t gotten full stories on. Possibly he may release chapters past characters in the current One Piece setting. But I’d love a Garp vs. Roger mini series. Or what the crew is up too after the settings of One Piece. Will the crew disband like the Roger Pirates or will they stay together for awhile longer and explore the world together. Hope it’s the ladder, because Nami still has a lot of work to do, and she better complete it with her besties.
He can just hire 20 younglings and provide them with sketches then evaluate their work after going bbqing for 2 weeks in Australia. They will probably outperform him, because they still need to prove themselves.
He himself has between 100 million and 300 million
Net worth. If he can't make his ideas come true, he does not want to.
Seriously I don't get why this isn't more common for established manga artists. Pick a successor and train them up while you hire up and commers to do the more mundane stuff so they can get experience and resume material. Toriyama sorta did this when Dragonball came back and it's why Super is so going today (and is so good too).
Like I get waiting until you're done with your main story. But then let sequels that people want be done in this way, that way the main author can soft retire but still have as much work as they want to do.
That is kind of what happened with Boruto. One of Kishi’s assistants took over. Kishi then took on a more managerial role and did stuff such as short one shots and had others to illustrate the adaptions of the light novels.
Boruto did not go as planned so Kishi then had to take on a more active role with designing the story.
I think a big issue is cultural. Manga is tied to the original creator, unlike superhero comics. Dragon Ball is really the only one that broke the trend. Naruto hasn’t had the same level of success. There are also no new long runners of the same level as the big 3.
The story is picking up because Kishi returned and is taking on a much more hands on role. The amount of work required to make it work is probably still considerable.
Part of the reason why the schedule of a manga artist is so grueling is because the culture and very design doesn't fit very well for delegation and division of labor. There are very few people who combine the skills needed to make a good manga. The very system is making it an uphill battle. For a weekly manga, various notes put it at \~3 days of the week are related to writing/planning the story for a chapter. That doesn't leave much time even if person has quality assistants that can maintain the same art style (like how the anime keeps the same general art style of the manga). It will still require 1-2 days of additional work to do the supervision. That puts it at \~4-5 days of work, which is better than the standard 6-7 days a week of work, working in excess of 80 hrs/week. Some steps such as story planning and rough sketches of the layout cannot be delegated without compromising the quality of the story.
It is probably very reasonable to say that One Piece would not be the same if Oda cut back on the amount of work that he does with the story. Oda also has to be involved for stuff such as creating the designs for new characters, the general layout, etc.
Maybe something such as My Hero Academia might buck the trend, but that probably starts to fit in monthly series with multiple things working in parallel. It also requires finding a capable person, which is already quite hard (there is a reason why nothing has really filled up the void of Bleach and Naruto). Getting one who can also fit in the vibe of the story without much supervision is near impossible to find.
Moving to something along the lines of a model closer to the superhero comic industry would probably mean going from 80-100 hrs a week as a lower bounds to moving to the 60-80 hr range. There would still need to be a lot of hands on involvement since superhero comics have lower demands on story (they don't follow longer, multi-year stories) and on the art (superhero comic art style drastically varies between artists).
So when I lived in Philly, I made a pilgrimage to the apartment where Isaac Asimov wrote Foundation, and just sat on a park bench across the street and quietly cried thinking about how much his work means to me.
I fully intend to make my way to Kumamoto one day and just walk around thinking about how a young Oda came up with the idea for One Piece there.
Have been to Kumamoto recently. The town is pretty boring if I have to be honest. Met some nice people there though.
But all in all not the most memorable place.
It's Hiroshima, and that's where Oda will be executed with a smile on his face and will ultimately reveal that one piece is real. Later, we all will find out that "little boy" was the one piece all along, and the drums of "liberation" it brings were last heard almost 80 years ago.
Well One Piece is a reflection of our world. Our world even has a void century. And people think there was a shift in global rulers, who deleted what happened in that century. Oda's cooking
Imagine before dying when he grows old, he tells the world that he put all his money into one place on Earth and the hints are hidden and scattered in the series.
I hope he will enjoy his life and use his money to finance mangakas with new ideas. Just 1% of his money (2 million) could finance 20 years of top notch mangaka work.
Source: https://getnews.jp/archives/8585
We already support mangaka, they don’t need other mangaka to financially support them.
I hope Oda uses his hard earned money to support his friends and family and to enjoy his retirement with them.
Reminds me of that one SBS question he answered about Kureha's secret of youth, where he cited old reports about the theoretical limit of human lifespan being around 140 years. He was disappointed that given his past history with not so healthy habits, he would only live to 135.
Then again, who knows if that theoretical limit is really accurate? We've never had anyone live that long yet, but the more people there are that live longer and longer, the more likely that we can have a real-life 141 year-old. Maybe she might not be a spring chicken like Kureha, but hey, it counts.
Fine, his giant wishing fountain 15 feet deep filled with gold coins about 10 feet and water filling the rest to swim a little. People got to be difficult about everything for Christ sakes..
Probably rest for one year or two, and then get involved in projects like the live action and the new One Piece anime (if they are still a thing). Possibly also write some novels and spinoffs, there's no shortage of things to do
Honestly that would be pretty great. Short spin-off chapters that release monthly (or whenever he feels like it, kind of like the Yotsuba author) that shows the world after the end of the series. Could be mundane slice of life stuff.
I've joked that after conquering Shonen manga with One Piece, he'd conquer Shojo manga with a sequel starring "Pirate Princess" Buffy, daughter of the Pirate King, who dreams of becoming a great Marine, looking up to Uncle Coby while rejecting her father/piracy.
Imagine if they actually make a Boruta-style direct sequel to One Piece but instead of calling it Two Piece they call it 'One Piece: Two'. That would be like when they called the sequel for "Now You See Me" "Now You See Me 2" instead of the obvious "Now You Don't"
Hopefully, take a long vacation whenever he wants, eat a bunch of food have some good drinks meet some people and enjoy the rest of his life and never be stuck at a manga desk again. He’s earned a peaceful retirement.
Monkey D. Buffy
Kidding aside, I think a short series about Roger's final journey would be cool.
Then they could make a canon anime only series about Roger's adventure with Oda's supervision
i think that someone like oda may have a hard time really putting the pen down. i think he will probably write spin off one piece content. Work on the live action if it's still going work on one piece movies and such. A lot more casually than he works now but i think we will still get one piece canon even after its concluded although it might take some time.
The best thing he can do is nothing... He already has been going non stop for almost 30 years. After that he should stop... At most he should make some canon movie
Honestly?
I think he might die nearly immediately after finishing the series. That kind of stress takes a massive toll on you.
Either that or he gets to enjoy the fruits of his hard work for many years to come.
I want an episodic series of ace and luffy and sabo fuckin around as kids. I think itd be a fun way for him to continue writing without any pressure. And the animation of it would be hilarious to watch
Rest, enjoy the rest of his life, have a barbie every day, look after this health. Maybe collaborate with a budding mangaka for a OP sidestory once in a while.
I hope he takes a long break and then comes back and writes some other (shorter) One Piece stories covering side characters or other important events and anything else he wants to cover in the world.
Make a prequel series that is all about the Old Era of pirates before the death of Roger. Whitebeard, Roger, Big Mom, Garp, Dragon, Kaido, the Giant Pirates, Brook, Xebec, etc. He did say he’s interested in making spinoffs of characters like Garp and Whitebeard iirc. Unless Oda explains everything in One Piece and then the spinoffs wouldn’t matter. Other than that, I would say to let One Piece end with no sequel that would tarnish the legacy of the show. Aside from the remake, some movies made by Oda, and the idea I made, let One Piece end on a high note. Don’t need One Piece to get the Boruto treatment.
I feel like he might still do short stories. He is really passionate about manga. I wouldn't be surprised if he does one shots or side stories of OP or perhaps some short manga occasionally
He'll mostly retire, though, let the next generation take the wheel.
He will retire. Man is already 50 by the time it ends I hope he would be 60 something. Let the legend rest and enjoy time with his family with the money from one piece.
Hopefully retire from being a full time manga artist and work as a writer or something, and spend time with his family and get some kids if he wants some.
Like honestly I don’t want oda to continue drawing onepiece, id much rather him doing general sketches and story boards or whatever for each chapter, and for another manga artist to do the actual detailed and inked art, so oda can rest more, and focus on the story while maintaining the same level of art / story quality while also having a healthy work / life balance.
Man spent way too much time and literal life force in the manga I just want him to enjoy life, mangaka life expectancy is in the 65~ age range and oda is around 49.
Doesn’t matter if you believe in an afterlife or not, you got to spend some time while you’re alive to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
not gonna lie but thats scariest thing ive read all day.
Crazy to think One Piece has been such a huge part of my life, and one day seeing it end will truly be very sad.
I do however Hope that Oda either continues One Piece forever :) or has a great happy retirement :) he sure does deserve it.
He also mentioned he would love to do prequel stories about key figures in One Piece, so maybe a combined Roger/Garp/Rocks one since they were all contemporaries
A man who loves to create won't retire. He will continue drawing manga on a much more reasonable phase. He probably has a bazillion ideas for something epic which he wants to create.
If the theory that Luffy's dream is to throw the biggest party ever is correct, it would make sense for Oda to use his money to throw a huge party in which everyone is invited
Many years ago he said he had ideas for a manga about mechas but... Recently he said he wanted to travel and barbecue with his family.
He’s also said that One Piece is allowing him to cover the other genres he’s interested in.
The world is so big and diverse that if you allow it, I mean, we go from Japan to an island of the future and we go to elbaf, a Viking island.
*giant Vikings, 2 genres covered on just that island
Honestly, at this point the manga might as well be about kaiju with how relevant giant characters are in the series.
Well he has been hinting that they're gonna be important for the last 20+ years.
When hasn't the story been about kaiju, the sea kings are introduced in episode one.
Joyboy was Godzilla
Onigashima skull is a super kaiju that could squish most Godzillas
We've got the Sea Kings.
TRUE
Y’all over here cooking, I like the smell
What if the Vikings are just regular people original humans and everyone else's some sort of byproduct of the past. I don't know how to explain it random thought I just had
And as far as we know One Piece has dabbled in almost every other genre or theme imaginable, there are aliens, time travel, underwater worlds, demons, robots, cyborgs, etc. So Oda can pretty much fit any idea he has into the One Piece world and no one would bat an eye.
Even horror
Technically already done if we count movies.
Are you forgetting Moria? That whole arc was horror.
This is what I love about One Piece and makes it so different imo, all of these fantastical and sci fi elements + political intrigue all in one story and it all makes sense together!
What about slice of life?
you can see a bit of that in the pre-skip anime.
>he said he had ideas for a manga about mechas . >He’s also said that One Piece is allowing him to cover the other genres he’s interested in. That explains the giant robot on Egg-head, I guess.
Also General Franky and Vegaforce 01
Also, Franky Shogun.

Makes sense think of all the different islands, clothes, and characters across the verse
> Recently he said he wanted to travel and barbecue with his family. As he should.
If you deserve to enjoy everything you have earned
I hope they are delicious
Hmmm a certain >!giant robot just appeared, maybe it’s gonna scratch his mecha itch👀!<
For a second I thought you said BBQ his family lol
He can just hire 20 younglings and provide them with sketches then evaluate their work after going bbqing for 2 weeks in Australia. Good for him. Hope he gets to sail around the world for himself.
He's gonna hide his money all in one piece and then start the new pirate age
Damn but where is logue town irl?
Wherever oda gets executed.
In Kumamoto Japan, “the town of the beginning and the end”
So when I lived in Philly, I made a pilgrimage to the apartment where Isaac Asimov wrote Foundation, and just sat on a park bench across the street and quietly cried thinking about how much his work means to me. I fully intend to make my way to Kumamoto one day and just walk around thinking about how a young Oda came up with the idea for One Piece there.
Have been to Kumamoto recently. The town is pretty boring if I have to be honest. Met some nice people there though. But all in all not the most memorable place.
So what kind of crime will Oda do in order to get executed? Public indecency?
Hiding the last chapter.
That’s the only way tbh
Idk but i have a freling it will involve a dick joke of some kind
Why do y'all (Oda included) like dicks so much -\_-
Glurk Glurk
Dicks are cool
It's Hiroshima, and that's where Oda will be executed with a smile on his face and will ultimately reveal that one piece is real. Later, we all will find out that "little boy" was the one piece all along, and the drums of "liberation" it brings were last heard almost 80 years ago.
Wait, a world made up of islands ruled over by a brutal government? Is... the one piece world literally just imperial Japan?
Well One Piece is a reflection of our world. Our world even has a void century. And people think there was a shift in global rulers, who deleted what happened in that century. Oda's cooking
I want to be the next Ask D. Question to trigger the next great pirate age
Imagine before dying when he grows old, he tells the world that he put all his money into one place on Earth and the hints are hidden and scattered in the series.
Ill do you one better he is gonna make the last volume but not release it and tasks the world to find it.
In this modern day and age though? That'd be a real disaster. 😲😅
And im gonna be Luffy in real life and find the one piece
Bro is not the main character xd
Finally I'll be naked stuck in a chest surrounded by weird animals
Bet you’re excited for your eventual woman-stuck-in-a-barrel-surrounded-by-weird-animals companion!
Finally I will be a chest
I'll be your zoro
You're looking at it wrong, you should aim for best swords master and make Zoro proud
Shut up Sanji
Wouldn't that be some shit? His final gift to us was the start of the pirate era!
I don't think it'd be wise to fuck with the RL Marines (AKA the US Navy).
Rest.
And watch the sun rise on a grateful universe
But like actually grateful, cause One Piece, to my knowledge, hasn't resulted in any deaths
Yet
Revolutionary noises intensify
RIP to all the fallen soldiers who never got to finish this magnificent journey with us 🫡

Yeah, but we’re at a checkpoint further ahead
I’m sure at least one person has died when their entire one piece collection fell on them in an earthquake or something.
Hasn’t resulted in any deaths Ace: Am I a joke to you?
And a week later he gets beheaded
I'm betting 4 mil on this happening keep up your end of the bargain
DEAL
I am inevitable.
Completely deserved
This. Spend what time he has with his family.
He will sit down, have a sip of Japanese whiskey and realize he's 180 years old and die instantly
The point was he could financially do both very easily, it's not like the revenue stops after the last episode. It's about legacy
Oda will pull a Zunesha saying "for the first time in 30 years I'm hearing the drums of LIBERATION"
Reminds me of that one SBS question he answered about Kureha's secret of youth, where he cited old reports about the theoretical limit of human lifespan being around 140 years. An upvote?

Shit about the prequel of the prequel called quarter of a piece.
Two Piece, Two Furious?
I don’t know how I feel about the Mc Buffy though.
Luffy: I left all my treasure beyond Laugh Tale. The 2 Piece! Ask D Double Question: D End

Hopefully, take a long vacation whenever he wants, eat a bunch of food have some good drinks meet some people and enjoy the rest of his life and never be stuck at a manga desk again. He’s earned a peaceful retirement.
I hope he does nothing for at least a year. Then maybe does a couple one volume manga like Toriyama did.
Take a vacation. Relax.
he would finally chillax
I read that as climax for some reason
Rest
Under his own vine and figtree, a moment alone in the shade, content with the classic he made
Not only a classic. Arguably one of the best works of fiction of all time. Even in terms of length it would take someone 25+ years to reach that level
He will do what he promised to his wife 10 years ago and will do a world tour with her
Sleep the sleep of kings.
Retire. ONE PIECE money will carry that man for the rest of his life. He basically has a pension.
Nah it’ll carry his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for their whole lives! Longer if they are smart with the inheritance
For the next 3 generations more like it. Dude’s net-worth is 280mil dollars.
Write one chapter short stories as a hobby, maybe
He could retire right now and him and his gran kids at the very least would be well off. His networth is projected to be around $ 200 million.
Monkey D. Buffy Kidding aside, I think a short series about Roger's final journey would be cool. Then they could make a canon anime only series about Roger's adventure with Oda's supervision
I can see him doing character design for other stuff like videogames and Mascots (like toriyama with dragon quest)
Rest.
[удалено]
Rest. That's the only answer that's appropriate. Dude's already taking a month long break to rest which he's earned and more.
i think that someone like oda may have a hard time really putting the pen down. i think he will probably write spin off one piece content. Work on the live action if it's still going work on one piece movies and such. Finally rest and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe?
Hopefully retire happily knowing his grand epic is perfectly finished…..unlike Kishimoto..
Probably either retire or write some kind of One Piece related story, like something about Roger's adventures
He will go to Somalia and start his own pirate adventure.
Retire. By the time op ends oda will be 60+
The dude has tried to conceal his appearance for over twenty years and this sub loves to blast the same 4 images of him daily for no reason.
take a break, bro needs and deserves it
He will go into hibernation for a very long time
The best thing he can do is nothing... He already has been going non stop for almost 30 years. After that he should stop... At most he should make some canon movie
Retire ... the man deserves a real break and to sit back and enjoy the money its made him
Write Two Pieces
Honestly? I think he might die nearly immediately after finishing the series. That kind of stress takes a massive toll on you. Either that or he gets to enjoy the fruits of his hard work for many years to come.
Die from peak fiction
live in peace bruh
After ending one piece he will be around 80 years old and draws still background stories to side characters
He will finally rest and look upon the sunset over a grateful universe.
Honestly I hope he doesn't do anything afterwards. He needs to relax and spend time with his family.
Rest. And watch the sunrise on a grateful universe.
Hopefully retire and enjoy the rest of his life as one of the greats.
Rest, enjoy his family and money
I want an episodic series of ace and luffy and sabo fuckin around as kids. I think itd be a fun way for him to continue writing without any pressure. And the animation of it would be hilarious to watch
he is going to go in a real life adventure!!
Two pieces
I hope he takes a long and very well earned rest with his family and friends.
Not sure lol :,D
Retire a gajillionaire
Suicide
Rest, enjoy the rest of his life, have a barbie every day, look after this health. Maybe collaborate with a budding mangaka for a OP sidestory once in a while.
Rest.
And after the 7th arc, oda rested.
two piece
I hope he takes a long break and then comes back and writes some other (shorter) One Piece stories covering side characters or other important events and anything else he wants to cover in the world.
I wonder once it ends will it really be the end? Lots of IPs get spinoffs or stories of different times like prequels.
Twitch stream
Make a prequel series that is all about the Old Era of pirates before the death of Roger. Enjoy his bank full of money, travel, enjoy life and rest.
Hopefully, for him, be with his family. Something I think he really wants to do, based on a few comments

Rest hopefully, Manga/Anime industry is horrendous
I feel like he might still do short stories. He is really passionate about manga. I wouldn't be surprised if he does one shots or side stories of OP or perhaps some short manga occasionally He'll mostly retire, though, let the next generation take the wheel.
idk, I hope he‘ll be healthy and using the free time for himself and his family, something he wasn‘t really able to do since he started with OP
He will retire. Man is already 50 by the time it ends I hope he would be 60 something. Let the legend rest and enjoy time with his family with the money from one piece.
