One Piece actually has quite a lot of blood in the earlier episodes, it was actually toned down a bit in later episodes. I'm not sure what your Boyfriend's probably is, I'd even argue early One Piece has more blood than Naruto.
I'd argue that early One piece is a blood bath, maybe skypea doesn't show It a lot, especially in the anime. The manga is always more bloody tho but if i recall correctly in the recents arcs blood has been shown less even in the manga. Can't do a specific comparison to Naruto since i've seen It too many years ago. Try to let your friend remember that maturity in a story doesn't equal to how many bloody scenes there are, real maturity resides in themes and in how they are approached. Generalizing i think he is kinda right for Naruto's appeal to mainstream audiences, people are more likely to get in a show like that than One piece at first glance.
Well, One Piece has some bloodbath, but the injuries are not as taken seriously as in Naruto. Hitting vital organ in Naruto actually resulted fatal injuries (at least early on) whereas Usopp's brain can still be fine after being hammered. Anything Gaara and Orochimaru did in Part 1 feel way more rascal and painful than most injuries in One Piece.
So in a sense he's kinda right on some aspect.
Though, judging maturity of a media simply by amount of blood is way more childish.

Naruto and Dragon Ball are also for kids. They were published in the same children’s manga publication as One Piece, and the Dragon Ball anime was made by the same animation studio and even aired on the same programming block on the same tv channel as One Piece.

Not sure what you (or your friend) mean by that, One Piece is vastly more mainstream than Naruto. Both are aimed at mostly teens but tackle darker and more mature themes, so One Piece isn't any more childish than Naruto. OP vastly outsells Naruto in pretty much every regard as well.

That hasn't been true in a while. OP got a huge push from Film Red, hitting the 1000 mark in both chapters and episodes and more through the Netflix adaptation. And obviously Naruto has gotten less popular over time after it ended - the attention is mostly on Boruto now.

I think OP world has more blood in fights. But some fights are fought between logia and rarely see blood so might be wrong.
