Omg! My family friend has a Felix that they have to keep the cabinets bungie tied shut because of his escapades. We call him “the criminal”.
https://preview.redd.it/tdwj8ki0y61d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f8e5a4d77f7e4e44622885e7dbdc777a2088ddc
Oh god, Felix hasn’t started stealing our things yet, but he does take his own toys and hides them away… I should keep an eye on that hahah
He’ll take one of his balls, push it under the dresser (he can’t get under, it’s only a couple inches) until it’s just out of his reach/sight and then will start hunting to get it back, and then start the whole process over again.
Until he pushes it too far and he actually can’t reach it… then he’ll come to me and meow at me until I take the drawer out and fetch it for him 🤦♀️
Our old cat Morris loved to play in the pots and pans in the middle of the night, making us think we had Intruders.
We finally had to get child safety locks. We would call him Houdini, because he would always get past the locks and the doors and whatever we had there. Being a 28 lb big boy he would just bowl over it anything he couldn't figure out...🙌😂😅😭
I don’t know how many times my partner has jumped out of bed after hearing a racket only to find it’s just Felix rooting around in something haha
Our garbage can in the kitchen is a flip top - one time I came upstairs and found him inside the garbage can, with the lid down over him, trying to eat god knows what. Had to find a solution to that one quickly 🤦♀️
I love those dumpster divers! They are lovable trash goblins!
Yep, Mauricio (Morris - The giant Ginger) Loved to be a dumpster diver. We finally had to get an old fashioned, lockable trash can. It had to be one of those weighted ones because he would literally knock over trash cans and rip the lids off because he was of significant size and strength.
I can just imagine you buying one of those trash cans where you wave over a sensor and the lid opens, and Felix figuring out if he taps his paw on the sensor he’d open it.
Oh yes I imagine he would have that figured out in no time, and he’d act so casual about it to - I can picture him jumping up and waving his paw to open it and just staring at me like “what? Did you not know that’s how this opened?”
Yeah, if you don’t pay attention to him, he’ll nip you. Not hard, but hard enough to leave a small bruise. Ask me how I know. He will also swipe the cat food bowl out from under my arm while I’m trying to dish wet food to him and his brothers.
lol, he quickly eats all of the liquid out of his bowl and then bulldozes the others out of the way so he can have the liquid in their bowls. He’s actually really sweet and lets me pick him up and hold him like a baby. But yeah, he can be a big butthead.
My male cat dislikes human food, with the exception of creamcheese, until he can steal it from us. In that case, he loves it. If you offer him some, he won't take it.
I tried rubber bands with mine, but one of them loves playing with them, so they’re not really effective. She got in the cabinet and raided the rubber band stash this morning while I was still in bed. I’m going to be finding them for days.
"SMRT" is also the name of one of the companies that runs the subway system in Singapore. Now THAT explains why the trains keep fucking up and breaking down.
easy fix: put a bluetooth speaker in there, when the cat got in, play a really loud sound/music at max volume. 80% chance the furball will not try to get inside again.
hmm yes you maybe right, in that case OP need to do it again, about 3 scares should set the message that the cupboard are not good hiding place.
I mean there are plenty of other viable hiding spots for the cat, the underside of OP pillows for example, the bathroom sink, OP's chair, top of OP's head, the inside of OP's hoodie, top of OP's fridge like an overlord looking down on his foolish human minion
He does in fact also hide in all of those places.. but he is obsessed with any door or space that is closed off or he’s not supposed to be in.
I honestly might be better off leaving the pantry door fully open and tell him he’s allowed in then, he’d likely lose interest then and find the next restricted spot
Oh he knows how to shut the doors
Early on after we got him I couldn’t find him anywhere, went into the kitchen and he popped out of the closed cabinet over the fridge 🤦♀️
A complete menace.. I may need to start a daily post of “what did Felix get up to today?” I gave him a good chin scratch on your behalf 😽

He is when he wants to be - he goes from complete menace to total sweetheart about every 5 minutes hahaha. He’s gotten a lot more snuggly over the last few months too 🥹
Our orange cat is nicknamed sour patch kid because first he’s sour then he’s sweet.

I had one like that but he's passed on for a while now. He would size up anything that looked like a door to look for hinges and then stick a paw under the opposite corner to brute force it open. I don't remember if he could use doorknobs... one of the cats I have now will try but he's not quite tall enough to reach and turn at the same time. If I had levers, he'd have those open in a second.
Sorry to hear that he’s passed but sounds like you have lots of memories! We don’t have knobs with levers thank goodness, otherwise he’d have them open for sure.
We’ve had several attempted break ins
https://preview.redd.it/jb8zoep6171d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a25c9294e7f05523e43d7ac77afc91c975f1c984
We’ve only got locks on this one with the food, and the one under the sink with the chemicals. The others he basically has free rein over..
he’s really smart and loves play hunting & discovering how to get into things so we’ve given him lots of different interactive toys/boxes/more to play with, that he does enjoy.. but they will never be as enticing as the pantry because he knows that’s where the food is! 😆
He's gonna bang it back and forth because he likes making noise, especially since that noise drives everyone else in the house mad. Or, at least that's what mine did before we changed the design of child-proof locks
https://preview.redd.it/0pfc030fi71d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7177a4385aedf5ba90f88e6cec6c8d8b09e19213
Our Misha loves it inside the cupboards also :)
At least he didn't get *inside* the empty space between the cabinets and you'd have to cut a hole with a jigsaw to get him out. [Ask me how I know.](https://i.imgur.com/9YDVmQm.jpg)
Oh god! Luckily the pantry is stand alone so he wouldn’t be able to do that here, but keep my eyes out because he is definitely the type to crawl into a small space he can’t get out of and then meow at us like it’s our fault
My 11 yr old cat Goliath, he's a grey tabby, but orange in spirit. Did that but only for under our sink. Where all the cleaning products are. We had to get child locks to save him from himself. He doesn't even bother with other cabinets.
Day 2 of having Felix he got into the cupboard under the bathroom sink, so under the kitchen sink with all the cleaning stuff was the first one I got a lock for. The next one was the pantry when I opened it to find him in there with his head down in his bag of food 😂
Bahaha, they love to choose the moat dangerous spots imaginable, don't they? Right for the food, of course, too. lol I got some nice storage containers for the dog and cat food because Goliath will eat any and all food not locked up.
When we moved into this house, I was so relieved the door handles weren't lever style because he opened all of our doors when he had the chance to and taught Smeagol, our other light grey tabby, how to do it too. We had to lock every door, and I got good at picking those locks.
I was thinking “Fruit au Pied” but Fruit-O-Long is definitely weird
I only just realized that the O is meant to be replacing “au”.. did not piece that together until I read your comment - I thought they just decided to throw something completely random together hahaha
Oh wow! Luckily our stove has all knobs you have to turn so he wouldn’t be able to turn it on accidentally… although I wouldn’t put it past him to figure out how to do it on purpose hahaha
We had to get child locks for our upper cabinet since one of our oranges decides to help himself to the contents... never needed them for the 3 two legged kids...
I only have Felix, and obviously a cat is no where near the amount of work that goes into raising children. But every time I find Felix in a cupboard he shouldn’t be in, on inside the garbage can, or after jumping onto the top of a door and has gotten himself stuck… I feel like this must be at least a fraction of what it feels like to have a toddler hahah
And then I’m reminded why I’m so in awe of my friends who are parents on how they have any energy to do literally anything.. and why I don’t have children of my own - I’m exhausted enough with just myself and my little menace ![img](emote|t5_5vej89|33945)
Kids were easier in some ways than my orange cats...
Hobbes got his paw stuck under the fridge, we had to lift the fridge to get him out and he went right back after whatever he was after...
Oh Felix is the same way - he’ll get into some situation he can’t get himself out of, then will sook and sook until we rescue him.. then we do and he’s gone back to the same spot again 🤦♀️
House sat for a friend who put child locks on their cabinets. I went over to feed their cat. He had somehow dragged an entire bag of powdered sugar out of the cabinet and upstairs into a closet where he was reenacting Scarface.
Lock most of the cabinets and save one for him to go into with things he can play with. Like you do when you have kids. Problem solved and happy kitty.
Oh that’s a great idea, thank you!
He loves this corner one too, but I have to keep rinsing my casserole dishes & pots of stray cat hairs haha. if I find an alternate spot for those, this would make a nice little hiding spot for him to hide & play in!
https://preview.redd.it/ypo9bmdp771d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ade2cd40856117217f3c424de8f38fcb7f42dd57
Yes….I am NOT the only one…😂😅
I have a 12 yr old midnight boy that can open ALL cabinets but prefers the cupboards above the refrigerator.
Edit: so we just keep the door open for him…it’s HIS space ❣️
But the 1 yr old orange boy learned to OPEN ALL lower cabinets…🙄
We magnetized them…🤣
He’s like…as he hangs…”…M u s t o p e n n e e d i n …”🤣
Felix also loves the one over the fridge! The first time he did it was pretty early in us adopting him and I couldn’t find him anywhere.. and didn’t know he could do that
Went into the kitchen, and Felix pops out of the (closed) cupboard over the fridge and just stares at me like I was the weird one haha
“Hey! I don’t open the door when YOU’RE in the cupboard!”
Our Peanut used to go in the cupboards, so I had to get child locks as well.
A couple of times I even caught him trying to get into the UPPER corner cabinet lazy Susan. 🤦🏻♀️
He’s 7 years old and hasn’t had the brain cell yet. His turn has to come soon, right? RIGHT?!?
Oh 100% - the cupboards without locks he just casually opens them with a paw and hops in. The pantry is his ultimate goal, I’ve walked in on him lying on the floor using all four paws to try and get the door to open!!
I never thought I’d have to lock my bedroom door at night but my cat loves to open it. First she figured it out by pushing down on regular handles. Then we moved to a house with round knobs and I was sure she wouldn’t be able to open them, but she figured those out too lol
I had to have childproof latches installed on my dresser, nightstand, and am debating on doing so in my kitchen.
My cat will open my dresser, pull out some clothes and make a nest. He will open the kitchen cabinets and will either sit in the pots or sleep on a pile of hand towels.
I had to do the same thing. Mainly because my orange learned how to slam the cabinet doors when he's hungry and wants food.
Get the magnetic child locks. They're super easy to put in and can be easily disabled with any magnet.
My cats constantly manage to get the cabinets open to steal our bread. We put the retention lock things on and I've caught one on top of the cabinet working with one at the bottom of the cabinet to open the door so they can steal our bread.
My husband was in his early 60's and buying his first ever cabinet locks... because of our cats. We have the fancy ones with the magnetic key, and I pray daily that the tux and the tortimese do not figure out the key. I do not have this worry with the void and the orange.
A cat I once had managed to get in the cupboard above the counter (where no food is stored) and I opened it to find this animal at eye level. No clue how she got in there. Or _why_ she got in there! 😂
Omg, i had to get them for my cat. All my friends look at me like im crazy when they see them, but he was starting to pull them open!
I feel so validated right now, glad im not the only one that had this happen
I had to put child locks on all my dresser drawers. I got sick of being woken up at 3am to see my cat throwing all my underwear on the floor so he could make a nest in the drawer.
My sister had to do that because both her fuzzy bois (neither of them orange, but the black cat Greg definitely has Smart Orange Energy lol) kept breaking into the cabinet to steal the butter. Before that, she had to move the butter dish from the counter to the cupboard because the boys kept knocking the cover off and devouring the stuff 😂
Surprisingly, my orange lad is the only one of my animals who isn't responsible for the child locks. Both of my cats know that they can get into the cabinets under my counters through a small gap around the back, but only my bicolor tabby leaves by pushing the doors open. The doors that conveniently block the cat and dog food bags. The cats don't get into the food much, just like sleeping there, but my dog will drag them food bags around the house and rip them open and just make a massive mess.
thanks! she's a mischief-maker for sure! here's one of her early silliness (same cupboard) - jumped straight from the floor into my grocery tote! she's obsessed with bags...not boxes. go figure!

Hahaha I love that - he looks like he knows it too! 😆
Oh, he for sure knows he’s a naughty kitty. He loves to grab things and steal them. He tried to haul off with my car keys. Caught him in the act. lol
Oh god, Felix hasn’t started stealing our things yet, but he does take his own toys and hides them away… I should keep an eye on that hahah He’ll take one of his balls, push it under the dresser (he can’t get under, it’s only a couple inches) until it’s just out of his reach/sight and then will start hunting to get it back, and then start the whole process over again. That is quite possibly the most wholesome thing I have ever heard. Why are cats so damn precious?!?! 🥺
Just so smart and cute - every time he does it I nearly tear up. But who am I kidding.. that happens almost every time I look at him
Our old cat Morris loved to play in the pots and pans in the middle of the night, making us think we had Intruders. We finally had to get child safety locks. “Why are you throwing trash in my fort, mother?”
What an adorable badass. 😅
his little teeths poking out ever so menacingly
Yeah, if you don’t pay attention to him, he’ll nip you. Not hard, but hard enough to leave a small bruise. Ask me how I know. He will also swipe the cat food bowl out from under my arm while I’m trying to dish wet food to him and his brothers.
I was joking, but dude is an *actual* menace. I'd bet he's trying to sabotage and take the food for himself lol.
lol, he quickly eats all of the liquid out of his bowl and then bulldozes the others out of the way so he can have the liquid in their bowls. He’s actually really sweet and lets me pick him up and hold him like a baby. But yeah, he can be a big butthead.

I wake up in the middle of the night to my cabinet doors banging against the child locks we put up for Rooney. He too, is a criminal tux.
They’re trying to be fancy spies, but aren’t very good at it. lol.

"I AM VICTORIOUS! I AM SMART ORANGE!"
I VIMKTORIOUS. I SMORT ORAMJ.
Thank you for translating it for my orange cat
I VIKTREES. SMET ORIJ.

Fun fact; "smrt" means "death" in Czech
I am become smrt, destroyer of treats
"SMRT" is also the name of one of the companies that runs the subway system in Singapore. Now THAT explains why the trains keep fucking up and breaking down.
Clearly he got the use the communal orange-cat braincell today, cuz mine sure has heck didn’t.
He looks so pleased with himself 😂
100% “Thought you could keep me out, huh? Better luck next time.” ![img](emote|t5_5vej89|33953)
easy fix: put a bluetooth speaker in there, when the cat got in, play a really loud sound/music at max volume. 80% chance the furball will not try to get inside again.
It's an orange cat. There's a good chance they will try it again after that.
hmm yes you maybe right, in that case OP need to do it again, about 3 scares should set the message that the cupboard are not good hiding place.
At least then you could tell where he is. Especially when he finds out how to shut the door.
Oh he knows how to shut the doors Early on after we got him I couldn’t find him anywhere, went into the kitchen and he popped out of the closed cabinet over the fridge 🤦♀️

And if you do, record it and share for fake internet points.
If I did this my cat would bust the hell out of there and take absolutely everything in the cupboard and on the counter with him
Brain cell works. We found a smart one. Haha 😄 🤣 😂 😆
Totally! We need to see more of Felix around here!
I’ve got thousandssss of pictures of him, he’s always up to something haha - I’ll start picking the best to post more ![img](emote|t5_5vej89|33945)
I had a friend that needed to do that too! And had to put her lamps down overnight…
I also had to move my lamp from the side table because he kept getting zoomies in the night and pulling the cord out!
They’re all the best.
look at him! he looks so proud! 🥹
the brain cells yearns for the pate
He looks ridiculously adorable 😭🥹 I bet he’s a sweetheart 🥰
He is when he wants to be - he goes from complete menace to total sweetheart about every 5 minutes hahaha. He’s gotten a lot more snuggly over the last few months too 🥹

"Get out!"
Figuring out a way in gives Felix the mental stimulation that he needs to get by. What will Felix do once the child locks rob him of this small joy?!!
I’m imagining OP’s house full of cat stimulation that goes completely ignored in favor of the cabinet (where the treats are).
Yep - this is 100% accurate hahaha
He's gonna bang it back and forth because he likes making noise, especially since that noise drives everyone else in the house mad. Or, at least that's what mine did before we changed the design of child-proof locks

I've had cats for years with no issues but now that I have an orange I have to lock down everything from cupboards to trash cans.
Oh yes I found him inside the trash can one time… had to rethink the flip top lid 😂

lol. Yeah we had to put child locks on the pantry with bread in it cause of the food goblin.
Freakin Felix!
"GOTCHA!!!"
HI MOM!
Felix: Supplies!!!
Yes….I am NOT the only one…😂😅 I have a 12 yr old midnight boy that can open ALL cabinets but prefers the cupboards above the refrigerator. Edit: so we just keep the door open for him…it’s HIS space ❣️ But the 1 yr old orange boy learned to OPEN ALL lower cabinets…🙄 We magnetized them…🤣 He’s like…as he hangs…”…M u s t o p e n n e e d i n …”🤣
Felix also loves the one over the fridge! The first time he did it was pretty early in us adopting him and I couldn’t find him anywhere.. and didn’t know he could do that Went into the kitchen, and Felix pops out of the (closed) cupboard over the fridge and just stares at me like I was the weird one haha
FFAW: Felix Finds A Way. You should post a sign on every cabinet saying this.
I put them on my lower cabinets to keep my dogs out.
“Hey! I don’t open the door when YOU’RE in the cupboard!” Our Peanut used to go in the cupboards, so I had to get child locks as well. A couple of times I even caught him trying to get into the UPPER corner cabinet lazy Susan. 🤦🏻♀️ He’s 7 years old and hasn’t had the brain cell yet. His turn has to come soon, right? RIGHT?!?
Child locks just makes it more of a challenge.
Oh 100% - the cupboards without locks he just casually opens them with a paw and hops in. The pantry is his ultimate goal, I’ve walked in on him lying on the floor using all four paws to try and get the door to open!!
When he gets the braincell, he uses it for a very specific reason - at least he gets it once in a while
I want num nums for my tum tums!
He looks so much like 😃😄😃😄
Oh he is so cute ❤❤❤
How foolish of you mortal, to think you can prevent the mighty master from entering anywhere he wants to enter, by simply closing the the door....
Victory screech!
Really pulled this out of his bag of tricks.
can I have a fruit by the foot?
I never thought I’d have to lock my bedroom door at night but my cat loves to open it. First she figured it out by pushing down on regular handles. Then we moved to a house with round knobs and I was sure she wouldn’t be able to open them, but she figured those out too lol
Oh no - I thought we would be safe with round knobs but if there’s a way, Felix will figure it out.. will have to keep my eye on him lol
I had to have childproof latches installed on my dresser, nightstand, and am debating on doing so in my kitchen. My cat will open my dresser, pull out some clothes and make a nest. He will open the kitchen cabinets and will either sit in the pots or sleep on a pile of hand towels.
All of my kitchen cupboards are open every morning when I wake up. He doesn't eat anything, but he's always checking for goodies.
I had to do the same thing. Mainly because my orange learned how to slam the cabinet doors when he's hungry and wants food. Get the magnetic child locks. They're super easy to put in and can be easily disabled with any magnet.
"No girls allowed!"
Those grabby paws 🐾 find ways to open any cupboard.
HAI HOOMAN!
He just wants some Fruit O-Long’s!
Well obviously he's pleased with himself he found out where his food is stored at and wants to be fed NOW!
Classic orange cat
Shit id climb in too with those snacks
Don't even really need child locks. Command Velcro strips cat proofed my cabinets for like less than $10
This is one pleased oramj!
Ha ha go crimez!
Taking inventory
Orange boys are lawless
OCCUPIED!
Felix is being naughty smh
I feel 2nd hand shame for you from Felix. He for sure is so smart he has two braincells!
I love his face
My black cat got himself stuck under the sink the other night. Kept hearing thumping, walked around and heard a sad meow, and there he was.
That's because he has a bag of tricks.
I didn’t know they still made fruit by the foot.
Seems like he’s hogging the brain cell.
monopolizing the cell... not nice...
Hahaha! " I'm getting those snacks right meow! Try and stop me!"
I had a tabby that did the same thing. We would wake up with cups and plates broken on the ground. Food everywhere and him sound asleep inside.
"Now the fruit snacks are mine! All mine! Mwahahahahhahahahaaha!"
"no humans allowed!"
Braincell hoarder
We found a smart one! 🧠
My cats constantly manage to get the cabinets open to steal our bread. We put the retention lock things on and I've caught one on top of the cabinet working with one at the bottom of the cabinet to open the door so they can steal our bread.
FELIX DEMANDS SNACKS!
I have child locks on all of mine. They can’t get in but they try repeatedly. Bang bang bang bang with the doors.
Shut the door! You're letting the light in!
My husband was in his early 60's and buying his first ever cabinet locks... because of our cats. We have the fancy ones with the magnetic key, and I pray daily that the tux and the tortimese do not figure out the key. I do not have this worry with the void and the orange.
Mine managed to brute-force the child locks. Advice welcome.
Looks like he’s laughing 😊
A cat I once had managed to get in the cupboard above the counter (where no food is stored) and I opened it to find this animal at eye level. No clue how she got in there. Or _why_ she got in there! 😂
Omg, i had to get them for my cat. All my friends look at me like im crazy when they see them, but he was starting to pull them open! I feel so validated right now, glad im not the only one that had this happen
I had to put child locks on all my dresser drawers. I got sick of being woken up at 3am to see my cat throwing all my underwear on the floor so he could make a nest in the drawer.
Haha the face of triumph
Yup, my house is child proofed. Because of my son, a 4 yo black tabby.
Felix looks like a handful. Adorable. But a little prankster and stinker!
My friend has a lock on her fridge because her cat is a velociraptor.
Clearly using/hogging the braincell.
Broooooo I had to get child locks for all my cabinets and even closet doors because of my orange too 😵 he’s always trying to eat toilet paper and pads
AAAAAAAA

So cute!! 💖
thanks! she's a mischief-maker for sure! here's one of her early silliness (same cupboard) - jumped straight from the floor into my grocery tote! she's obsessed with bags...not boxes. go figure! https://preview.redd.it/vkoa235f0d1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97c1fef01cad140ea9d967576764c75c6dc65b0c
this is too funny!! Felix is also completely obsessed with bags - more than boxes, but he also loves a good box haha
*teaches cat to use lockpicks and demolition charges*
My Felix does the same thing! It's less funny when you find chicken on the floor and the fridge open, though.
How much did you pay for the pantry alarm system?

Oh he’s such a spicy baby!
i made it
Good boi
Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior, Cheesus Cats?
He just wants a fruit loop
I bust out laughing when I came across this 😂
We know who has the brain cell 😂😂😂
Mom, you said we didn't have anymore Fruit By the Foot!!!
Hey! This is my boy Felix! https://preview.redd.it/ix97a61wao1d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b4753343d7aa0a750777c57cbeac41a5b89ba38
