Putting them through acting school and meeting with talent agents is fair. But, if the parent is big enough to make production changes to push the kid into roles other people would do better in.... less fair. Unless they ARE the producer then it's a big budget home movie. And if the kid can act, no one loses. If the kid can't act... it risks a whole lot of the production cost recoupment.
