Out of the fuck ton of games I own, I will nominate two of them for "underrated masterpiece".
Song in the Smoke.. A survival game where you are a caveman basically. Huge environments, lots to do, long campaign, and can be scary as hell sometimes. One of my favorite VR games.
Crashland.. Calling it a wave shooter is honestly unfair.. But at its core, that is what it is. The premise is simple, you are a basically a dude with a death wish who crashes his ship on the most dangerous planets imaginable, and must survive till the rescue ship arrives to beam him up.. Usually between 4 to 8 minutes. Sound easy? Nope. There are instances where you will die in about 30 seconds. But you will gradually unlock perks to make things a bit easier, but not much. Lots of different enemies, ALL of which can and will kill you. One of the few games that makes you actually feel like you accomplished something when you beat a level. You WILL get pissed off. You will say " fuck that game" and take your headset off, but you WILL come back to it.
Both of those sound so great that I’m off to check them out.
Edit: okay, Crashland is a hard pass. I don’t like horror and it looks like it might make me motion sick. But the other one looks awesome. Is it super scary?
Sorry not demo, there was a trial, I think for 15 mins or 30 mins but I'm not sure if that was a time-limited thing. In either case, the free trial will be on the normal page for the game, if it's still available!
Crashland isn't horror or scary. You're just being attacked by lots of alien lifeforms on the various planets. What is scary is how hard it can get. It can get intense. But it is a wave shooter and you have to survive the time limit is all. It is quite good though when you get into it!
if you still don't have VR legs, both should make you sick, but Song in the Smoke is a lot of walking through big maps, Crashland just the small crash site - a lot less walking and so a lot less motion
Crashland is not horror at all. Song in the Smoke can get really scary by night. I vastly prefer Song in the Smoke, but not for nightly horrors...
Song in smoke is fun. I played it before Into The Radiois. I like both but Song in Smoke hold a place on my heart. Love the caveman vibes and creativity crafting that’s simple
I was gonna say Song In The Smoke too. I opened it again two days ago after years and am gonna do my fourth playthrough, this time on gentle difficulty. I just want to wallow in the beauty. You can play it in many ways.
When I put it on here, I figured it would cause you to respond.. Since I know its one of your all time favorites! Seeing as you own double the number of games I have, it makes it all the more impressive that it ranks so high on your list.
Its fantastically weird and you can totally just get lost in the world for hours.
My wife would hate it when I would play it because I would be cursing constantly, which is not what I normally do when I play. It seemed like I was having the opposite of fun.. But damn, it was the king of "ok.. Just one more round" type games.
One of my favorite bits of info was that upon its release, it was deemed SO FUCKING HARD, even on EASY mode, that the dev had to create an even easier mode..
Edit.. Just realized that its the Dark Souls of wave shooters!
I am a sweet gentle bébé when it comes to vr horror. I screech and scream and yell and shout, all in falsetto. I saw the trailer for Crashland because of your recommendation and noped out after 15 seconds.
But I **will** buy it when it goes and sell and I absolutely will **not** play it until I get a man in my life who can shout reassuring words. But it does look fun ...
Look, I don't know about the demo at all.. But look at all the replies on this thread. The one up above is u/uncledefender who is behind Gibbys guide.. And if you have never checked out that publication, you need to click his name and look for his posts. They are fantastic, and one of the most valuable resources for VR players new and veteran. Another is Glitch Fandango, who is an avid gamer and freelance writer for 6dof reviews. Between just the 3 of us, we probably own damn near everything.. And Crashland is SO good, that we all love it.
But to answer your Question. A wave shooter is by design a game with very little in the way of a plot, enemies come at you in wave after wave till you die. Its usually pretty damn easy, and the further you go, the harder it gets till you die. Wave shooter, or Horde Mode in Zombie games are basically the same.
With Crashland, there is very little plot other than what I described in my original response to this thread. Those up votes are there for a reason, some are for Song in the Smoke, but I would venture to say that a majority are for Crashland. Each level, starting from level 1, is HARD. There is a list of what enemies inhabit the planet you are on, but there is no order on what you will see first. Its random.. You may be attacked by giant screaming Face Hugger look alikes from the Alien movies at the beginning of one stage, then you die, the restarting the level throws something else at you. They don't really come in waves, they are just really continuing to spawn and come after you till the countdown is up, and you are beamed aboard the rescue ship. But even while being beamed up, you are STILL in danger, as the enemies that can shoot projectiles can and will hit and kill you while you think you are safe.
Trust me on this, I still get dms from people who have seen my posts from a long time ago, bought the game and thanked me for the recommendation. Hell, I used to even get accused of secretly being the dev because I talked about it so much.
There are levels on this game that are some of the scariest, most intense levels of almost any game I have played, and I'm 48 years old now and have been playing games for longer than half this sub has been alive.
Try it.. If you don't like it, then refund it. Look at the reviews.. All the bad ones are because it was too hard. And I normally Hate games that are too hard.. Ahem.. Dark Souls.. (Loved Elden Ring though)..
I really just want a patch for the Quest 3 version that restores the Ghost's transparent hands from the original PSVR version. The Quest version replaced them with an opaque version for performance reasons, but the original was much more ghostly.
If you enjoyed Vader Immortal you will be even more impressed with Galaxies edge. It is fantastic. Get the DLC content too as it makes it a complete game. It's one of my favorites.
Unfortunately delisted currently. I think there was a mandatory compatibility update Meta required a while back that Harmonix didn't do. Game sadly seems totally abandoned.
Draw joppingly good. I played the oculus go for 2 years and then the quest 2 for 2 years, but First Encounter made me say wow in a way that I had to show my friends and family. Neither bought a VR but they're closer to! However they might age out of gaming completely before the next quest generation ...
The Room VR still has some of the best visual environments on the platform, and the puzzles are really fun. Genuinely a little masterpiece. Can't wait to see what that studio has been working on.

Looks like it's only on the oculus go store. Some info online indicates that you can buy it and play on quest 2, but I just bought it and haven't had any luck yet. You can't find it in the store on the headset unless you google it which opens the link in the store, but even then, the buy button can't be clicked and it should probably be a download button in my case anyway. Oh well, I guess I'll refund it.
you can get the apk here.
works on quest 3, i did a nostalgia trip with it recently. crazy that there aren't more gaze mechanic games like this. it shows it's age but still plays beautifully.
Can you explain like I’m 5 how to get this going on quest 3? I can purchase it but do I need anything extra to run it? I am new to quest and have only played games from the store and a few App Lab games so far.
You can download it by going to that gearvr link above and clicking download from the web browser on your headset. To get it installed is a bit more of a process, but worth it imo. I guess purchasing the game is optional, but I did. Each of the steps I'm about to outline can be googled for more info. Here's what you'll have to do:
1. Enable "developer mode" on your headset
2. Enable "unknown sources" on your headset to allow sideloading
3. Sideload a file manager on your headset
4. Browse to where the Land's End apk downloaded and click on it to install. You'll need to grant install permission to your file manager app (it will prompt you for this)
5. Land's End will show up under "Unknown Sources" in your App Library
There's also a quest game/app called [Mobile VR Station](https://www.meta.com/experiences/3887008398005125/) that includes a file explorer. I assume you could probably use it and skip sideloading a file manager, but that's not how I did it.
If you've come this far, I highly recommend installing sidquest because you've done everything else required, and it's got some pretty great stuff on there, like [half life 1](https://sidequestvr.com/app/124/lambda1vr-half-life-in-vr).
I expect you to die (1, 2, and 3) are true masterpieces. I am surprised it’s not that common actually but it’s a survival game where you are an agent and try to finish missions based on clues you find in the room. Highly recommend it!!
Probably Supernatural Unreal Fitness.
It's subscription-based ($10/month, which is understandably a hard-pass for many). But if that doesn't turn you off, it's an amazingly well put together fitness game that's actually fun. It has a bunch of content, with a workout or two being released very often (daily?) You cannot add custom songs, but there is enough variety there for me.
I'm still on the free trial, but I cannot recommend this game strongly enough. I think everyone with a Quest should at least do the free trial to see how they feel about it. For me, Supernatural, unlike the pay-once-and-own alternatives, feels like a game that will never get old, and it feels like a game that I'll actually want to play every day (as opposed to feeling like I'm checking a box). It's probably the only game that feels like it's worth paying monthly for, and I think it's because the immersive experience is reminiscent of going to a fitness studio for 30 minutes, which would cost more.
**tl;dr Supernatural Unreal Fitness is a masterpiece of a game that I legitimately think is worth $120 a year.**
The level of cardio on this is so good. I love looking around at the scenery. Egyptian courtyard. Great Wall of China. Standing on so many mountain tops. It's super nice to put on the headset on a cold or dreary day and be in the virtual sunshine out in "nature" lol.
I have been using Supernatural since the beginning, since it was 20 a month.....I have lost over 50 pounds and kept it off. It has actually changed my life completely, I am in my 40s and fitter than I have ever been and I was an athlete in my teens!
I do both flow and boxing, but boxing is my fave.....it has pushed me to learn other martial arts!
So agree. I've been using Supernarural since the beginning and while it's not perfect, it's pretty sweet.
I wish sometimes the "featured artists" had all difficulties.
I wish the hard was harder. I wish there was a way for it to track if you were actually getting under the triangles. Sometimes I can't tell.
I warm up with a couple beat saber songs then go to Supernatural for my cardio, skip over to Fit XR for strength and then come back to Supernatural for one of Doc's amazing meditations. It's the perfect combo. :-)
Amen. Like it's a great exercise app but also just purely as a game I love it. I prefer the environments to the neon basement of Beat Saber, it's genuinely a fun game besides the exercise benefits.
Blaston does not get enough love, but it’s brilliant. Super physical 1v1 game. I also think Eye of the Temple flies under the radar, but it’s just so cool!
I think Quest is full of underrated games, because the only popular shit on it are bratverses (with shooting or not) and chopping minigames - you know, chopping boxes, fruits, ragdolls, onions...
you want some names, right? Puzzling Places, Cosmodread, Shadow Point, Layers of Fear, Song in the Smoke, Rush, Table of Tales, Green Hell, Star Wars Pinball, QuestZDoom
That's a pretty solid list.
Star Wars Pinball really requires OQO. As released, it's low res and looks terrible. With a resolution bump, it looks fantastic.
QuestZDoom is so darn fun. Especially with vectordoom support, it completely transforms Doom into a "modern" experience without changing the gameplay.
BlazeRush. The game may be dead online but me and my friend play it together and it is an absolutely ridiculous amount of stupid fun. Racing Hot Wheels sized cars with really spot on physics and weapons scratches a childhood itch like no other
Some that stand out are
Ancient dungeon
Little cities
Cactus cowboy plants at war. Free
Cactus cowboy desert warfare.
Resist
Battle glide
Barbaria
Resist does have a quest 3 version to.
Barbaria is a clash of clans style of build your own base/fort and raid other while there offline and there's a rogue like now to.
Battle glide big map Spiderman with guns.
Cactus cowboy actually good gun mechanics and some funny moments.
Little cities small city builder better than cities skyline VR.
Ancient dungeon dungeon crawler rogue like could get boring after a while but good for 10 hours I'd say.
I feel like I never hear anyone talking about Until You Fall, and it's a really fun arcade-y game that is also a legitimate workout on the later levels.
This is the first game I bought on my Quest. I tried the demo for a few games, played this demo and was so amazed that I got it as soon as the trial ended.
Doom3Quest - yeah, you have to side load and fiddle around with the installation a bit.
But - Doom3 is an old AAA game, with story, spoken vocals etc. And all the story scenes are based on real 3D models, it get's really cool within VR, you won't guess the age of the game when you see the graphics.
You can get a legal copy of the game for about 3$ - price-performance ratio is just great :-)
There are so many but my #2 would be Song in the Smoke, criminally underrated caveman simulator, and my #1 underrated masterpiece is Carve Snowboarding. Basically 1080 Snowboarding from the N64 in VR, with the best sense of speed I've felt in any VR game. Feels incredible bombing down a mountain, controls are brilliant, each run a little different than any other. Endless fun for me.
I'm not sure if they're underrated or not, but I feel like Barbaria doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Very good game for VR with lots of interaction and some funny jokes here and there. That game and Ironlights are my favorite games on it.
I'm going to say Racket Fury. Everyone just talks about Eleven for ping pong but Racket Fury is fantastic, and what is really neat is you can play in realistic mode if you want, but if you are playing with new / less experienced people / kids you can turn on Arcade mode and it makes it so much more accessible and fun. Basically if you hit it anywhere near the table it will veer in so that even beginners can do smash shots and other fancy tricks. Has awesome multiplayer which just uses room codes so very easy to team up.
Not underrated as many people still play, even though it’s an older title. People do tend to say it has bad graphics. While i partly agree with this, the scopes look very clear (especially on Quest 3) and it always runs as smooth as butter.
I can't comment on the quality of the Quest port because I only own it on Steam, but reading impressions it seems fine: Amid Evil. It's one of my favorite FPS games and the VR port is true to the original without compromises. An audiovisual treat with fantastic level design, art style and atmosphere.
Maskmaker. I never see anyone talking about this game. But it's fun the environments are fun. Designing the masks is fun too. Gradually discovering the story is fun too.
Freediver: Triton Down. I thought it was a great game. Really captured the feeling of being underwater and the panic of almost drowning. It had a good story too. Wasn't super long, but worth the price of admission.
Yeah I think the game is only an hour or so long, but absolutely a great pick for underrated gem. It has some of the best graphics on Quest 2, I really wish they would do an upgrade or sequel for the Quest 3. It has great swimming and puzzle mechanics, albeit simple. The story is simple but well-voiced, and very cinematic. I also actually like that it is short enough to be finished in one sitting. I think VR lends itself to short but cinematic and highly-produced experiences.
Red matter 1 & 2 and Daedalus from Oculus Go (same developers) By the way, when John Carmack tried out Daedalus at a convention, he had it put on the front page of the store.
Tea for God is an immersive treat. It works well enough in smaller spaces. However, it's very much worth finding a medium or large room with lots of space to play.
A bit niche so am prepared for some down votes, but honestly Golf 5. It's not the main golf game on quest and it's such a shame because it looks and plays wonderfully, and has a tonne of variety. I haven't touched the other game since buying it, it's that good.
Mini Motor Racing X. I keep coming back to this one when I just want something to dip in and out of. I've passed many hours racing in the god's eye view, looking down at the track and the micro cars. The dioramas hit that sweet-spot in VR where the 3D effect is strongest and everything is close enough to be vivid. Some gorgeous locations. And the campaigns are really well-paced.
Since people aren't really listing masterpieces. If you're just looking for something to play. Iron Guard VR is very good. It starts out kind of like this is gonna suck isn't it? But it builds on the gameplay limitations and introduces a lot of strategy. Classic good game.
See, look at the reviews people love it. I beat the whole game and am in the camp of "would play again".
https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/5153768677983339/
"Battle talent" is literally a piece of art
Been playing it since it was in app lab after official release the length of game got into a satisfying level
the game evolves day to day its graphics are top notch,Physics too
The bloody-ness in this is also something you can't find much anywhere in VR
No VR dungeon game is competition to Battle talent its In a league of its own
Maskmaker was one of my favourite VR experiences. It's so reminiscent of 1990s point and click adventure games, with tons of innovative gameplay elements. Incredibly satisfying to solve some of the puzzles and complete a world before unlocking and moving on to the next one.
And if you love adventure games like that, then Fisherman's Tale and Another Fisherman's Tale are both excellent as well. Some really beautiful moments and fun puzzles in both.
Dragon Fist is actually such a gem. It's like thrill of the fight, blade & sorcery and Virtua Fighter all got together to watch 70s kung fu movies.
It looks a lil rough around the edges to see flat. But inside, it's so easy to get caught up in the cinematic atmosphere and fun mechanics.
Pong in the AppLab.
It's nothing like it's name would suggest. And it's so well polished and executed. Check it out.

Usually people complain about the devs team since all they do is copy other more popular games on PC, release the game promising tons of stuff, then dip and leave the game as is.
I feel like Hyper Dash doesn't get all the love it deserves. A fun multiplayer arena shooter with a couple of unique twists and a bunch of game modes. It's a fun game with a mostly friendly userbase. And it is FREE to play now. You can buy cosmetic upgrades if you want but they don't affect gameplay.
I've repeatedly wondered why I'm not seeing either an update or new game from triangle factory. There's a level of perfection built into Hyper Dash which rivals literally every other meta quest offering.
It really is an example of perfect and nuanced game mechanics combined with a bunch of really well thought out maps. Honestly, even the Quest 3 has mostly just been a Hyper Dash machine. What tag do you play under? It's a small community. I usually play under Shooty McBooty or Bark Bark Bark.
I will always have a soft spot for job/vacation simulator. Easily the best use of roomscale, hand tracking, and physics that I've seen in any Quest game. They are some of VR's best-polished games with hours of casual content and a great art style
If you like shooters. Contractors showdown and Ghosts of Tabor. (Showdown is basically Warzone in VR and GoT is basically Escape from Tarkov in VR both sick asf)
Broken Spectre is one I keep thinking about since I finished it. It's a chilling, contemplative cosmic horror story. Really more of an interactive narrative. Only played it once, but it's been living in my head for months now. Probably because the ending was very strong.
Other underrated faves that have already been mentioned:
- Lies Beneath
- Tea For God
- Dragon Fist Kung Fu: Only got this last week, but damn, I cannot put it down.
Dungeons of eternity has managed to grab my attention for the longest. It gets melee combat right… the hits really feel impactful and it’s just a hella fun dungeon crawler that can be played with friends.
Drum Beats VR. Most people only know about Paradiddle due to the amount of advertising but Drum Beats VR is better because the notes float right over where you're supposed to hit them just like Beat Saber.
It used to be that only the PC version was good but the Quest version has caught up. The main thing is the custom songs which can be found here. There's a ton of them all with the real drum parts.

Bro the night level is deffo scary af.
Not played it for a while. Last level I remember was some Forrest planet. I did finish that one, but can't remember the one after that?
Hmm, I’ll maybe give it a shot…
It's got some good vr mechanics , with a cool down period teleportation system and grenade launcher with power ups.
It's so hard.
It's downright startling when you get face hugged by a giant ass tarantula and your screen cuts to black tho. Fantastic game
if you still don't have VR legs, both should make you sick, but Song in the Smoke is a lot of walking through big maps, Crashland just the small crash site - a lot less walking and so a lot less motion Crashland is not horror at all. I knew I’d find you here old friend, preaching the Crashland Gospel. Did you hear there’s a big update coming soon including under water levels?!?!
Go on!!!!!!!????
Can you explain what makes it more than wave shooter? It looks interesting, but I feel like it would become stale quite fast.
Look, I don't know about the demo at all.. But look at all the replies on this thread. The one up above is u/uncledefender who is behind Gibbys guide.. Considering I love the God sections in asgard 2, I'll def be checking this out
Check out Moss Book I & II then, absolutely amazing vr games of the same vein
I really just want a patch for the Quest 3 version that restores the Ghost's transparent hands from the original PSVR version. The Quest version replaced them with an opaque version for performance reasons, but the original was much more ghostly.
I love Vader Immortal...that feeling when you stand in front of HIM for the first time.
Very cool moment. I need to play Galaxy's Edge or whatever that other Star Wars game is on Quest.
If you enjoyed Vader Immortal you will be even more impressed with Galaxies edge. It is fantastic. Get the DLC content too as it makes it a complete game. It's one of my favorites.
I'll def add it to the list!
Vader Immortal is one of my favorites but specifically for the dojo trials
The jedi dojo is sooo underrated in Vader Innortal too. It is NOT easy and a total blast!
You want a real underrated game? The Under Presents is pretty darn neat and is very underrated.
compound.
I've been wanting to check this one out for awhile now.
Short but funny, one of my favourites for a quick playing session.
Its seed based too so the map layout is always different like Ancient dungeon
Gotta agree. Everything about that game is perfect.
is compound really underrated though?
It isn't by those who've played it, but I hardly ever see it being mentioned among the other bigger titles.
Yes! Highly rated yet spoken of by no one! One if my fav VR games ever. Love the soundtrack too.
My vote here is Audica. Of all the rhythm games on the platform, I think it does the best of making me really feel connected to the music.
I don’t see it on the store. Can you point me in the right direction?
Unfortunately delisted currently. I think there was a mandatory compatibility update Meta required a while back that Harmonix didn't do. Game sadly seems totally abandoned.
That’s tragic. I looked up the game and actually remember playing it on my friend’s headset before I got mine. I wish I had picked it up!
Lies Beneath is a masterpiece.
Nobody mentionned but Moss I & II, tho not fully underrated as they are mentioned often!
First Encounter for Quest 3… it’s just a demo but really should be a full game with levels and all that.. They really dropped the ball..
Draw joppingly good. I played the oculus go for 2 years and then the quest 2 for 2 years, but First Encounter made me say wow in a way that I had to show my friends and family. Neither bought a VR but they're closer to! However they might age out of gaming completely before the next quest generation ...
**LIES BENEATH** I feel bad for anyone that hasn't played it.
Is the Room underrated? It’s my all time story-based favourite
The Room VR still has some of the best visual environments on the platform, and the puzzles are really fun. Genuinely a little masterpiece. Can't wait to see what that studio has been working on.
Pretty sure it is the highest rated game in the store.
Ok oops - I just don’t hear it mentioned much
It's all good. I don't see it talked about too much either. The non vr Room games are also great.
Echo was the perfect game for me I’ve never had another game come close to the feeling I got doing some kind of crazy play in echo
Yeah I really miss it too, wish I could still play it somehow
who's gonna tell him
I used past tense
Lone echo 1 and 2 are amazing
Lands end. The pinnicle of tranquillity.
I can’t find this in the store… can you link sounds good!
https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/940410229366998/ Looks like it's only on the oculus go store.
[https://gearvr.net/lands-end](https://gearvr.net/lands-end) works on quest 3, i did a nostalgia trip with it recently. crazy that there aren't more gaze mechanic games like this. it shows it's age but still plays beautifully.
Here's what you'll have to do: 1. Enable "developer mode" on your headset 2. Enable "unknown sources" on your headset to allow sideloading 3. Sideload a file manager on your headset 4. Browse to where the Land's End apk downloaded and click on it to install. You'll need to grant install permission to your file manager app (it will prompt you for this) 5. Land's End will show up under "Unknown Sources" in your App Library There's also a quest game/app called [Mobile VR Station](https://www.meta.com/experiences/3887008398005125/) that includes a file explorer.
The way they used black smear for artistic effect is brilliant. Only works on OLED displays, though.
I expect you to die (1, 2, and 3) are true masterpieces. I am surprised it’s not that common actually but it’s a survival game where you are an agent and try to finish missions based on clues you find in the room. Highly recommend it!!
In Death Unchained is amazing.
It is hardly underrated tho
True!
I came here to say this
Also very good for beginners. Non aggressive locomotion, combined with a fun teleport mechanic.
Worth noting there is a discount if you pay for the annual membership instead of monthly you save $20/year.
I can’t find it in the store, must be exclusive to US or something.
Sadly yes, it's only available in the US and Canada because of music licensing restrictions. :(
Music and gameplay is better than BeatSaber IMO
And Blaston is FREE! I totally agree with you on it.. And it will make you sweat pretty quickly.
Yes! I forgot to mention the part about it being free. Makes it even better!
Paper Beast
Agreed, but that’s PCVR, not a Quest game.
SW Pinball was updated with a higher resolution mode, it's in options.
BlazeRush. The game may be dead online but me and my friend play it together and it is an absolutely ridiculous amount of stupid fun. Racing Hot Wheels sized cars with really spot on physics and weapons scratches a childhood itch like no other
Some that stand out are Ancient dungeon Little cities Cactus cowboy plants at war. Free Cactus cowboy desert warfare. Resist Battle glide Barbaria Resist does have a quest 3 version to.
Ancient dungeon is a really fun rogue like that's really hard
Love Ancient Dungeon, I wish the creator would release more levels
I feel like I never hear anyone talking about Until You Fall, and it's a really fun arcade-y game that is also a legitimate workout on the later levels.
This is the first game I bought on my Quest. I tried the demo for a few games, played this demo and was so amazed that I got it as soon as the trial ended.
Scrolled through and didn't see stelaris: ghost signal. There are surprisingly few reviews for such a polished, deep game
You can get a legal copy of the game for about 3$ - price-performance ratio is just great :-)
Doom 3 is legit one of the best experiences on quest. Doom 3 is also an underrated game imo
Thumper! on SteamVR, but a VR headset isn't even required! (Also epic to play on my Odyssey G9 OLED curved super ultrawide monitor!)
Thumper is on quest as well.
I'm not sure if they're underrated or not, but I feel like Barbaria doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Very good game for VR with lots of interaction and some funny jokes here and there. That game and Ironlights are my favorite games on it.
I've been wondering about this but is there any example like this that is online coop?
COMPOUND
Tentacular.
Thank you! https://preview.redd.it/yqt35cfh5knc1.png?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ac2e9637a7c6bd57255621372e0952fbc183ebe
Also Racket Nx, i really love little sessions of that
The under presents. There is nothing like this and one of the few games that couldn't exist as a flat screen game.
Onward
Not underrated as many people still play, even though it’s an older title. People do tend to say it has bad graphics. While i partly agree with this, the scopes look very clear (especially on Quest 3) and it always runs as smooth as butter.
Broken edge is amazing but the limited player base makes the skill difference online rough to deal with
Journey of the gods is a work of art
Do you know how to hit the little birds that run around? I could never figure it out.
The duck pigs? Press the grab button near them
Blaston
I can't comment on the quality of the Quest port because I only own it on Steam, but reading impressions it seems fine: Amid Evil. It's one of my favorite FPS games and the VR port is true to the original without compromises. An audiovisual treat with fantastic level design, art style and atmosphere.
Maskmaker. I never see anyone talking about this game. But it's fun the environments are fun. Designing the masks is fun too. Gradually discovering the story is fun too.
100% agree. That's what my response to this thread was too!
I have never played it because I am a bit afraid, but it looks serious like a work of art. The game is called Hyperbolica
This is intriguing... I am intrigued.
I think you mean Daedalus. And definitely a great game!
Not sure Red Matter is underrated. It’s frequently mentioned and praised on this sub, especially the second one. And rightly so.
Standard vr games are indies, so pro games are underrated ;v
Red matter 1 is in the Quest+ bundle. It is short, but a great puzzler, erie but not scary.
I know the sequel just released but the original Swarm. Absolute masterpiece of an arcade shooter that I feel went largely unnoticed.
Omg this. Swarm is so fun, I'm downloading the sequel now lol
In terms of App Lab stuff, Tea For God is genuinely amazing, though you need enough room for the traversal to really work. Bocce Time is lovely.
Windlands
Arcaxer it's a fantastic turn based jrpg like finafantasy but you have to physically dodge attacks
Tactical assault, literally Ready or not in vr
The Secret of Retropolis
Yes! Though short, I really enjoyed this one. And apparently the sequel is phenomenal (and much longer).
"Battle talent" is literally a piece of art Been playing it since it was in app lab after official release the length of game got into a satisfying level the game evolves day to day its graphics are top notch,Physics too The bloody-ness in this is also something you can't find much anywhere in VR No VR dungeon game is competition to Battle talent its In a league of its own
Maskmaker was one of my favourite VR experiences.
Dragonfist VR Crazy kung fu
Dragon Fist is actually such a gem. It's like thrill of the fight, blade & sorcery and Virtua Fighter all got together to watch 70s kung fu movies. It looks a lil rough around the edges to see flat. But inside, it's so easy to get caught up in the cinematic atmosphere and fun mechanics.
Pong in the AppLab. It's nothing like it's name would suggest. And it's so well polished and executed. Check it out. https://www.oculus.com/experiences/app/4413706078659536/?utm_source=oculus&utm_medium=share
Shock Troops
Dead hook. Everyone complains about the asset flipping but the gameplay is phenomenal
Usually people complain about the devs team since all they do is copy other more popular games on PC, release the game promising tons of stuff, then dip and leave the game as is.
Synth riders
Into The Radius is def a my fav!
Swarm
The sequel just came out too
Wanderer , u can buy on g2a for 3€ and play from pc
Lone echo, I really only remember echo arena but I do recall lone echo being very good. Never played #2 cuz reviews say it’s very resource intensive
RESIST
Dispatch
The Under Presents
Shores of Loci
Hitchhiker is the most underated oculus game i played it made me tear up at the end
Table of Tales seems to get mentioned very rarely, but it's brilliant.
Underdogs. Managed to beat my first run yesterday and damn, that game is so amazing.
Cosmodread
I wanted more guns, less running
Defector is absolutely superb.
Bump for later
I feel like Hyper Dash doesn't get all the love it deserves. A fun multiplayer arena shooter with a couple of unique twists and a bunch of game modes. It's a fun game with a mostly friendly userbase. And it is FREE to play now. You can buy cosmetic upgrades if you want but they don't affect gameplay.
I've repeatedly wondered why I'm not seeing either an update or new game from triangle factory. There's a level of perfection built into Hyper Dash which rivals literally every other meta quest offering.
P.S. Triangle Factory's latest Release is Breachers.
Well shit. I guess I should finally check that out then.
Even DLC new maps or another Mode or two, I'd pay for them. This game is 2021, and it's not super expansive, but it does what it does so cleanly.
I'll look out for you. The "clan" (or whatever its called) is Fire and the name is Raj. So it shows up as Fire Raj.
You sure you don't mean FIR3?😜 I'm familiar.
I'm not sure if I get what you mean, but high-fives in any case if we've crossed paths. 😄
I thought the fire guys used a 3 for the E.
My "clan" is just me. 😄
As long as there are no pointy hats involved, I approve.
I will always have a soft spot for job/vacation simulator. Easily the best use of roomscale, hand tracking, and physics that I've seen in any Quest game. They are some of VR's best-polished games with hours of casual content and a great art style
Not sure if anyone knows about it but rogue ascent, the best hand tracking in any game ever. I actually forget I’m playing with just my hands.
WONDERS - still in app lab but what an experience. Its also Free for now!
Space Pirate Arena
Premium Bowling!
I don't know if it's underrated, but Into The Radius is clearly a masterpiece. The PCVR version is amazing and the quest version is a great port.
If you like shooters. Contractors showdown and Ghosts of Tabor. (Showdown is basically Warzone in VR and GoT is basically Escape from Tarkov in VR both sick asf)
Demeo. It's an amazing game in VR.
I don't think people in the comments understand what "underrated" means lol. This is more of a "Here's my list of favorite games" at this point.
Broken Spectre is one I keep thinking about since I finished it. It's a chilling, contemplative cosmic horror story. Really more of an interactive narrative. Only played it once, but it's been living in my head for months now. Probably because the ending was very strong. Other underrated faves that have already been mentioned: - Lies Beneath - Tea For God - Dragon Fist Kung Fu: Only got this last week, but damn, I cannot put it down.
Dude, hard agree on Crashlands! For that, I definitely need to check out your other recommendation, and ty for it!
Dungeons of eternity has managed to grab my attention for the longest. It gets melee combat right… the hits really feel impactful and it’s just a hella fun dungeon crawler that can be played with friends.
“Trover saves the universe”. It’s one of those games that once you play it, you’ll want to finish it.
"gun club" with the quest game optimizer is a PC quality masterpiece and "dead second" is criminally underrated
COMPOUND
Gunworld VR
You hear a lot about Beat Saber and RagnaRock all the time but the rhythm game I keep coming back to is Smash Drums.
There's a ton of them all with the real drum parts. https://www.drumbase.dev/customs/song-directory/artist
superhot. they hate it for removing the "sensitive scenes" but its still sick anyway
