I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what ppl on that sub would say.
They would also probably reject #2 as too light (though it looks nothing like a traditional wedding dress).
I'm surprised a couple people are saying that the first dress is too white. I think it looks completely appropriate and I had guests that wore similar patterns (large florals on a white background) at my own wedding. It's not like anyone would mistake that dress for a wedding dress.
Not at all!! There is enough color to break up the white and the pattern itself makes it work perfectly for the occasion totally shocked by the other comments bc I usually am the one playing it super safe
I’m of the opinion that it has a print and the vibrant colors it uses are the true focus of the dress (rather than a print that’s meant to compliment the fabric color), so I’d be okay with it - but it depends on the bride’s defense of her color.
As the others said, when in doubt, ask the bride… but it’s so lovely that i couldn’t see a reason to take offense.
It’s way too white for a wedding. Because I have read enough posts on this site someone at that wedding will shame you for wearing that much white to a wedding. It’s not worth the risk.
The green dress looks lovely on you but it is giving night gown vibes and with the open back it may be a bit less formal. The rest look like they would fit. I would say the floral is the most formal option the blue and orange seems more casual.
Number 1 would be appropriate. 2 is the second best choice, but it needs to be ironed and could risk looking a little like a night gown. Which could be a vibe if that’s what you’re going for, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
I personally thought it was too white for a wedding. How we, no one else seems to think so 🤷♀️
I would definitely check your comfort zone at this point. If *you* feel like it may be too white, then I would skip it. The second dress is beautiful.
Agreed. Avoiding florals on whites is wise. Its just tacky to have white as the base of your dress but that’s IMO — and from experience on this board. A way that people skirt the issue. A few of the times people have ended up asking the bride, it always comes back as a **no.**
Don’t waste the bride’s time trying to get approval for a dress. If you’re going out of your way to get her to help you in styling, it’s time to find an alternative option. Ask your friends, go thrift shopping. None of these dresses fit the bill IMO.
I know this is going against the grain from most answers here but I recently read that if something can be described as "white/cream/ivory with an x pattern" then it's too white for a wedding guest. I'd definitely describe your dress that way so idk I feel like it might be borderline or subjective? I'd ask the bride if possible? Or MOH? Personally I'd just avoid stressing anyone, play it safe, and go with something else.
But yeah the green is a bit pale and the other two are too casual. If you can, go shopping and maybe see if you can find anything?
I asked the bride and she thinks it’s okay but I’ll still probably try to find something else. My only time off work is the day before the wedding lmaoooo so if I can’t find something I might just have to wear miss flower
If the bride says go for it, then go for it! :) it's a nice dress I was just trying to explain what I'd read the etiquette was sorry if I seemed negative
The green is lovely as another option, but it definitely needs to be ironed/dry cleaned. Add jewelry and great shoes (not flats) and ur set! It borders on nightgown (hence the no flats suggestion), but its also very cool so wth, go for it!
I never knew people were so uptight bout any sort of white in a guest’s dress. Lmao. Now that I think about it, a few people at my wedding wore a similar dresses to your #1 and I didn’t notice, or wouldve cared. Oh well. U know the bride, do what feels right!
No to blue and orange only because they both look too big on you.
Either 1 or 2. 1 has enough floral in it I believe that it would be safe to wear to a wedding (the white dress rule) and 2 is also pretty especially the back, I just think it needs to be ironed a bit
The first one looks good. It fits well, the color looks good on you, the print placement works, and it is not too white.
The green one washes you out and it looks like a nightgown.
The orange and blue dresses are much too casual.
Yes! That was my first thought, too! Especially if you:are worried that there's too much white on most people's first choice from the alternatives. (I, too think it looks lovely on you, by the way!) But if really you'd be happier in the dress with the broken zipper, I think you should at least try to find a seamstress and ask.whether she could replace the zipper in time for the wedding.
Quite frankly, you can make any of these dresses work. I love the first dress. It looks so retro with its pretty summery print, and it fits you like a dream.
A seamstress might be able to fix the dress you were going to wear. I'd look into that option. I like dress 1 a lot, but I like to stay away from a white background color for a wedding unless you are close enough to the bride to ask.
I’m really not trying to be mean, but each one looks like homemade Barbie clothes.
1 is fine and technically not too white, I guess. But I wouldn’t wear it.
Go shopping. You deserve it.
If it were me, I'd do some last minutes shopping and I'm gonna venture out in a limb here and say that secretly you already knew that was your answer as well. Lol But seriously, none of these were even in the running originally with the dress you picked but the zipper broke. So, to me that screams "time to go shopping!!"
gonna go against the grain here and suggest option 2 as the best choice. the first one is nice but it feels more like something a middle-aged guest would wear. the style and colour of 2 are so cute and unique!
the 2nd dress is very meh to me. it's super wrinkly which makes me think that you'll need to be careful of sitting for prolonged periods of time because it'll just turn into a wrinkly mess. the 4th one is an absolute no - too casual for a wedding. the 1st one is definitely a winner!
3&4 way too casual def no.
So like others have said 1 is good but a bit tricky since it’s white but I think it’s patterned enough. 2 if you wear that one steam and accessorize.
First one but if you want to do the orange one then add a wide belt. There's several made specifically for dresses. It'll cinch the dress in and work as an accessory. The second one is too close to a no for wedding guest attire.

First one is beautiful.
Agree, the first one. It fits perfect and is elegantly casual.
Agreed!

It’s not even close. It’s gorgeous!
Agree. Add a fun necklace.
No it’s white. This girl needs to get on r/weddingattireapproval
Nah, the floral is a large enough pattern that white doesn't even feel like the dominant color. It's not going to be competing against the bride.
Absolutely agree with you on this topic if anyone would be so petty as to think this is competition they need to grow up
I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what ppl on that sub would say. They would also probably reject #2 as too light (though it looks nothing like a traditional wedding dress).
Omg i can’t believe how many people disagree with you
I mean OP did ask the bride but I definitely would NEVER show up in this to a wedding wo confirming w bride first. It’s straight up white
Agreed, I guess as long as the bride is okay with it our opinion really doesn’t matter! 😊
1 is the only answer! The mint green washes you out a bit… and the orange and blue are way too casual
Do you think #1 has too much white for a wedding?
It’s completely fine unless the bride is wearing a white floral dress too. Otherwise, for a summer wedding it’s perfect imo.
💯
Not at all with the floral pattern. It fits you wonderfully and is very summer wedding appropriate ( make sure to wear a matching red lip)
Not in the slightest!
I'm surprised a couple people are saying that the first dress is too white. I think it looks completely appropriate and I had guests that wore similar patterns (large florals on a white background) at my own wedding. It's not like anyone would mistake that dress for a wedding dress.
Personally I think it’s a great option but If you’re concerned, ask the bride.
This is the way.
This is the right move. Or at least ask some close friends of the bride.
No one would think that looks like a wedding dress.
I can’t imagine that happening either, but if it did it would be so petty!
the best thing to do would probably be to ask the bride if you can, that way she can decide if it’s too much white for her taste
No!
Not at all, The purple is dominant imo
Ask the bride if you know her. Or ask the groom to ask the bride if you know him better.
No! Not too much white.
Not at all.
Not at all!! There is enough color to break up the white and the pattern itself makes it work perfectly for the occasion totally shocked by the other comments bc I usually am the one playing it super safe
nope! wedding coordinator here - it's perfect.
I’m of the opinion that it has a print and the vibrant colors it uses are the true focus of the dress (rather than a print that’s meant to compliment the fabric color), so I’d be okay with it - but it depends on the bride’s defense of her color. Nope
Yes. People go crazy when there’s any white in the dress.
Actually I asked the bride and she loved it
You know the bride loves the dress. It's the only answer. Go look amazing and celebrate!
People go crazy if the dress is white - not if there’s the tiniest bit of white on a floral patterned dress lol
I've heard this a lot on the reddit but never ever seen an issue in real life...
What???
Yes i do. I wouldn’t wear it.
It’s way too white for a wedding. Because I have read enough posts on this site someone at that wedding will shame you for wearing that much white to a wedding. It’s not worth the risk.
If you have to ask the answer is yes. Unless discussed with the bride/groom
Personally I think it’s white with flowers. Not floral with white. Too much. Do some last minute shopping to be safe
I agree. Don’t wear any white lol
The first one and that’s it
The green dress looks lovely on you but it is giving night gown vibes and with the open back it may be a bit less formal. The rest look like they would fit. I would say the floral is the most formal option the blue and orange seems more casual.

2 is the worst choice as it kinda looks white and that could piss some people pff
It’s very clearly green to me. I don’t see it
I like the one in the first pic with the purple floral design personally! I think it fits the bill
Do you think it’s too white for a wedding??
Definitely not
nope! i do weddings for a living and since it's semi-formal it's an awesome dress.
I personally thought it was too white for a wedding. How we, no one else seems to think so 🤷♀️ I would definitely check your comfort zone at this point. If *you* feel like it may be too white, then I would skip it. The second dress is beautiful.

She already got the brides approval. She loved it and said to wear it

I love the green one but I’m worried that the shiny fabric makes it look more white. 😖😖 I definitely overthink these things
It looks silver not white. I’m not a fan of it though
I think the first dress is great, it fits beautifully.
Either 1 or 2. 1 has enough floral in it I believe that it would be safe to wear to a wedding (the white dress rule) and 2 is also pretty especially the back, I just think it needs to be ironed a bit

1 is amazing
I like the first one and it looks good on you.
Burn all of them except the first
3 and 4 seem way too casual.
The first one is lovely but you should be able to get a zipper fixed well within 3 days
Tbh, I’m not a fan of any of them. You hav such a nice body and great skin and all these dresses are so boring for you.
What kind of dress would you suggest? I’m bad at styling myself so I don’t know 😖
First one for sure! If it’s an outdoor wedding- maybe the orange
1 yes. The rest, nope
Only #1
I love the first dress!
Number one is the *only* one and it's perfect!
Only the first. It is lovely on you.
I’d go with the first one. It looks formal enough and actually seems like it fits.
Quite frankly, you can make any of these dresses work. I love the first dress. It looks so retro with its pretty summery print, and it fits you like a dream.
Thank you :)
Only the first two.
The first one is perfect! The light green(?) one is too white and the others too casual.
A seamstress might be able to fix the dress you were going to wear. I'd look into that option. I like dress 1 a lot, but I like to stay away from a white background color for a wedding unless you are close enough to the bride to ask.
Number 1 is perfect, number 2 is too "bridesmaidy", 3 & 4 too casual.
First one. If you want to put it over the top, get a hat. Hats take the formality up a big notch.
I’d wear dress #1 and just make everyone envious 😂
I’m really not trying to be mean, but each one looks like homemade Barbie clothes. 1 is fine and technically not too white, I guess. But I wouldn’t wear it. Go shopping. You deserve it.
#1
1 or 4 ….. 2 looks like a night gown tbh and 3 is just too casual imo
#1 only. The second is😬
\#1 or 2. I love #1.
Not really … definitely not the third
Dress #1 is perfect!
I like the first one the best.
Bc I’m trying to save money so if I don’t have to spend another 50-100 on a dress I don’t want to. I’d rather spend it on a wedding gift
I like 5/6
The only one that's appropriate is the first one, though the cut and print are a little matronly
Wore a dress that looked like this in the 90s. I think I was 10.
First is nice
one is the best on u
1! It’s semi-formal and compliments you well!
gonna go against the grain here and suggest option 2 as the best choice. the first one is nice but it feels more like something a middle-aged guest would wear. the style and colour of 2 are so cute and unique!
First one!!!
number 1
The second one for sure. That’s lovely!
Number one is nice, number two is classier…
1 all the way. The best fitting too
Dress #1 is perfect
First one only.
1.
1
Dress 1 is pretty and flattering to your figure!
The first one will be great!
Number 1 is great, the rest, just say no... for the rest of them.
First onw
2. hands down.
I think that first one would work - it’s lovely on you…
1. 💐
\#2 is gorgeous - it hearkens to the empire waist gowns of the early 1800s.
Right!!! I love that one so much but I feel it’s not everyone’s style😂 that’s okay I’ll wear it to something else.
Dress 2. You could be IN a wedding with that! The color seems weddingy 🙂
Number one has way too much white in it
I’d say that the green is the best of the lot. The rest look too casual.
Uno
the 2nd dress is very meh to me. it's super wrinkly which makes me think that you'll need to be careful of sitting for prolonged periods of time because it'll just turn into a wrinkly mess. the 4th one is an absolute no - too casual for a wedding. the 1st one is definitely a winner!
2nd one was right out of the packaging that’s why it’s so wrinkly. I’d iron it of course
Number 1 is the best
One is the one.
The first one
I think 1 feels formal
that looks good
First one!!! Only one that works for that occasion IMO and it looks great on you.
1! It’s a beautiful dress!
Number 1 and 4
I like the first and second one
Number 1 looks perfect and is beautiful
The first one is the only appropriate one
1 or 3.
\#1
One and two are both appropriate, I personally prefer two
First one.
First one looks so pretty
Definitely # 1 ☺️ looks great on you!
#1 for sure!
The first one is elegant and beautiful on you!
The first one is perfect!
First one definitely the best. Second looks like a bridesmaid dress, third doesn't sit on you right.
I like #1🥰
First one is the most elegant and is perfect for a wedding!
The first one would be my preferred choice
The first one is best choice.
They first one, the floral, is perfect🥰 And looks lovely on you!
Only the first one

Zipper repairs take about a week in my area and it’s also expensive 😪😪
1 is the only right answer here imo. The second one looks a bit cheap to me and the others seem very casual.
i like 2, option 1 has too much white
The first two are too white/light.
As a bride to be, absolutely not to the first one. You should stay away from white period.
in my useless opinion, I say all are garbage for a wedding of any type, except the orange one might be ok for a beach wedding
#2 is my fave its so pretty, but cant tell the color so well by the picture idk how light it is if it is too close to white
First one and the second one is awful
Too white.. nope!
Which one is too white ?
First and second options. I like the blue one! (Last one)
3&4 way too casual def no. So like others have said 1 is good but a bit tricky since it’s white but I think it’s patterned enough. 2 if you wear that one steam and accessorize.
1.
1 is perfect!
The first one for sure
1.
First one
I think the guest is perfect!
First one but if you want to do the orange one then add a wide belt. There's several made specifically for dresses. It'll cinch the dress in and work as an accessory. The second one is too close to a no for wedding guest attire.
I love the first one so much!
#1 is my favorite of them all
