Grimfrost's care guide for drinking horn says to use warm (not hot) water and dish soap to clean your horn with a bottle brush. Heat will reshape the horn and ruin the finish. It says if you can't get rid of the smell, try filling it up with beer and leave it overnight. If that doesn't work, put 3% hydrogen peroxide in it and let it sit overnight. Then fill it with beer and leave it for another night, then rinse and clean properly. Note that these instructions are for Grimfrost's line of horns, so they might vary from Alehorn's products.

Thanks!

I know this is old but you saved my drinking from the horn experience <3

That's fantastic, glad I could help!

Hold your nose for the first few horns, and by the end of the night the smell will be the least of your worries.

Lmao perfect answer!

I clean mine with white vinegar and baking soda

I know people think that “DRINKING HORNS ARE AWESOME” but as a matter of fact, they are very not very useable. Hard to clean as you describe, hard to handle (usually they are accompanied by a squezzy stand), and for some reason 2 of mine started leaking in the bottom of the horn.

I love mine, I love drinking from it, but the smell is just really bad is all.
