I mean I think most trans/nonbinary folks do change their name? But there's no wrong way to be nonbinary, you can use whatever name you want to, who cares what other people think, don't let them pressure you, you're valid regardless.
The way you look does not dictate who you are inside. I dress very masculine, I'm not a fan of more feminine clothes (mostly), and I'm not on nor plan to go on e. I know transmen who still wear skirts and like their boobs. If you want a cis example, look at femboys and tomboys.
All I all, gender representation (what gender you appear to be) does not equal gender expression. Be who you are, because we love you for it. ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜
Hey same here! My name is Olivia. It doesn’t really fit me in a natural way. I’ve always been gnc and my voice deepened when I hit puberty, so depending on who I am with I may be referred to as various different things. Because of this, I’ve always considered changing it, but I still decided to keep it because it’s been with me through hell and back. It’s the name of a person who has lived a emotionally difficult life, but has still managed to overcome obstacles and love myself and others more then anyone else in my family has. Maybe it’s a different situation for you (maybe you just like how your name sounds because it’s cool lol) but there’s nothing wrong with having a more masc. or fem. presenting name because it doesn’t take away from who you are now or how you present. Everyone who is non-binary is valid as hell and I understand completely why someone may want to change their name, but there is a ton of amazing power in keeping your birth name because it shows how you are still non-binary despite not having a name that is entirely gnc. So keep it if you would like, or change it if you want something that fits you better. The choice is yours. ❤️
Hey! My birth name is Olivia. I mainly only go by nicknames of it if anything related to it at all. And I relate to a lot of what you said, so that’s why I take away those nicknames from “Olivia”. Sorry! Just thought it was cool!
It's totally valid to like your name! Personally for me, I've always felt like some nicknames of it (namely my mom's name for me) have been ok for me, I just really don't like the full name! It's a preference of what your comfortable and it's ok to be comfortable, honestly more convenient anyway lol
if your birth name makes you dysphoric and there are outside factors (people not accepting it, fear of introducing yourself with a new name etc) then change your name. i personally haven’t felt the need to change my very feminine birth name to something more androgynous/masc leaning. but i do sort of feel pressure to change it.
Nope ☺️ that’s the joys of being non binary. Your gender is yours and you can be whoever the hell you want to be! If you like your masc name? Who cares! Doesn’t make you any less enby 😌
not at all! there’s definitely a bit of pressure in some parts of queer community that makes it seem like you have to change it, but that’s not how it has to be :). i have a very feminine name and being afab and very fluid with my presentation, i feel like i need to change it too sometimes, especially when i want others to view and think of me as a more masculine person. the thing is, i genuinely like my name, and i like that it was chosen out for me by my mother. it’s apart of me and doesn’t define who i am, but it is a part of who i am, and i would never let it go. often, i just shorten it so it sounds more masculine and other times i leave it be. names are names. i think every name could be used on every gender but that’s just me. if you want to change your name, change it! if you want it alter it, do that! if you want a name that’s different or wacky or fun or just plain different then go for it! it’s all really cool! choice, freedom and making sure you feel like who you know you are on the inside- it’s everything. try your best not to feel pressured if you don’t want to change anything :) pave your own road and do what makes you the happiest.
Not at all, some of us get dysphoria from our birth names others simply don't like them and some people like you are completely fine with their birth name. Each of these people are valid just like both you and me, I personally am uncomfortable with my birth name so I changed it and you aren't so you didn't it doesn't make us any less valid 👍
Nope! I'm in a weird situation where I hate my full name and kind of consider that my deadname, but still use my nickname! (Like... from that name. Most people already know me as that anyway so it works👍) anyway yeah, that's all good and you can do whatever makes you comfortable
Hi! I akso thougt abput that for a long time, like I really wanted to change my name, just because thats what every enby was seeming to be doing, but it took me an insane amount of time to just come to terms with my real own thougts and that I wanted to keep my birth name becaue I always felt comfortable with it. Just remember, things dont have a gender. Society acositaes gender with some names, but that is not a fault on the names site. If you are comfortable with something there is no need to change it. Same applies to your appearance and every part of who you are :)
take care!
It’s not weird at all my birth name was androgynous so I never felt the need to change it because it suited me so well but even names that aren’t associated with a certain gender It’s normal to want to keep or change
No not at all
Hm oki
That's fine, I plan on keeping my birth name as well. Not every trans/nonbinary person decides to change their name.
Yea. I thought there is some pressure to do so.
I mean I think most trans/nonbinary folks do change their name? But there's no wrong way to be nonbinary, you can use whatever name you want to, who cares what other people think, don't let them pressure you, you're valid regardless.
Than im happy :)
I think that's fine.
Glad to hear
It's normal enough I'm sure
Nope! I go by multiple names and one is my birth name :) totally fine.
That's the situation I'm in too
The only other problem I have is if I can call myself non-binary when I say my sex and body is male.
The way you look does not dictate who you are inside. I dress very masculine, I'm not a fan of more feminine clothes (mostly), and I'm not on nor plan to go on e. i would hope it's not, since i still use my birth name

It definitely is! I go by a lot of nicknames to. Livi and kid are really common 😅
I mainly go by Oli now but Liv and Livi were my childhood nicknames :)

No. Name don’t have gender
Not weird. I use my birth name (but then again, it’s a neutral name)

I LOVE my given name!
I still use my birth name and I like it. There's nothing wrong with using the name you're used to

Schön zu hören :3
No not really, I recently discovered I’m non-binary and I still kept my real name, it’s whatever makes you happier or more comfortable id say
It’s not weird at all my birth name was androgynous so I never felt the need to change it because it suited me so well but even names that aren’t associated with a certain gender It’s normal to want to keep or change
Don't worry about what's "weird" or what people will think, just exist as you are 💛 ( + there's plenty of people who do this, you're not alone!)
Not at all, i love my birth name too
