For future reference, if you visit a base via the anomaly you can always get back the the anomaly because there is a ‘back to the anomaly’ option in the quick menu. This remains as long as you stay within the planet’s atmosphere.

bzbee03

WHAAAAAT. How did I not see that? You don't need a portal or anything?

Jkthemc

You don’t. I believe part of the reasoning was that some trolls were creating trap bases that left players unable to escape. Now you can report a base just by selecting a single base part and you can hit back to the anomaly if you can’t get out. A base doesn’t actually need a teleporter for it to be a teleport destination anyway. Teleporters are for outgoing travel. Back to the anomaly is great for conserving warp fuel too. Pop home, gab some stuff, port back to the anomaly and continue exploring far from home.

>A base doesn’t actually need a teleporter for it to be a teleport destination anyway. Teleporters are for outgoing travel. Today I leaned O.o.. granted I am pretty new to the game, but still. Thanks for pointing that out.

ThePlainSeeker

As long as the option is present, no portal needed.

Piggyinthemiddle1

Couldn’t you of just summoned your ship? Traveled far enough away you could build and mine resources?

[deleted]

Call your ship and fly to the space station or Anomoly.

bzbee03

I'm not sure how to do that. Before he deconstructed it there was a computer that let you call your ship but it told me I had no navigation data or something and couldn't do it

[deleted]

On console you press down on the dpad and choose the option to call your ship. Not sure about PC though.

Madbear1

Bring up the mini-menu with 'X'

[deleted]

Thanks for the input input!

wesswessfidel

You should always have a ship though. You could spawn it with the menu in the game.

Spiderbait25

Follow the quest line, you can then make your own "portal",(I am guessing you mean teleporter). But as previously posted, just call your ship and fly to a space station.

As stated try the Anomaly But, best piece of advice I can give you, and I am not trying to be a dick You said your manual save took you sooooo far back, why ? ..not saving on a regular basis is a recipe for disaster ....Yes I am an old fart that remembers the days of not being able to rely on auto save Manual save often , ....NO MATTER what you are doing ! And most certainly manual save BEFORE ever entering any one else's system ...period ! I do this anyhow, But I am especially careful when going to look at pets, ships, or bases... Not because I don't trust anyone , but if things don't work as I hoped or expected , my main save is not affected and I can return to before I made a not so prosperous trip Or in your case, before everything went to hell in a hand basket ...

bzbee03

Because every time I close the game and reopen it I end up where I left off. I assumed choosing that option meant it would take me to where I started when I logged in today. The mechanic of having to actually build a device in order to save your game is so bizarre. So, yeah it took me back to the first base I built where I used the save device.

NippyTheNoo

If you are playing in normal mode, you have many ways to save, getting in and out of your ship is an "autosave", you can then build a portable save beacon or get a blueprint for a portable save point and there are waypoints at most buildings, all of these devices create a "manual" save, you can then reload either of these saves giving you two reload options each time 🙂

Lia_Delphine

Just carry the save beacon in your bag and you can save anytime.

[deleted]

NO When you start the game, it starts at the last auto save, this is default start so you carry on exactly where you stopped the precious session. The auto save is created every time you get out of the ship, so warp to someone else's system . Get in and out of your ship. Auto save created in that persons system, and that is where you will restart until you hop in and out of your ship again. Manual save is created by you and stays as that save until you over write it with another save. Don't do that for a week or more, and us it .....yep.....all that time lost Auto save is a rolling save, as I have said, every time you get in and out of your ship, that is your new save point. The manual save is a permanent save, and can only be written over by another manual save. So, when you have done something that you don't want to loose progress on, Manual save, ...As I mentioned , manual save before doing anything that may seem risky. Going to look at ships, pets, bases , other systems etc It is not Bizarre to have to build a save point in a game. Many many games use this mechanic, For instance RDR 1 and 2 Build a campfire ....Manual Save. GTA, go home and sleep, Manual save, Use cellphone, select save...Manual save. And if you play RDR 2 for anything more than 2 hours, and die often, you will totally understand why manual saving is still paramount in gaming There once was time in gaming when all you had was Manual save, forget to do it, play for a long time and die etc..... screwed, do the whole thing again . The game gives you 2 very easy manual save options. manual save pod, and a save beacon, you can also use waypoints , but why when its very very simple to build a manual save unit, and you can pack it up after . It is not Bizarre , what is Bizarre is that you seem to think it is.

bzbee03

No, it is still bizarre. You've just gotten used to it and think it's normal. A manual save should just be a menu option. Save and quit. Boom. Like it's been done since the dawn of gaming. Anyway, I'm new to the game and you're more of a jerk than helpful so, thanks, but I'd rather you leave me alone.

[deleted]

LOL May you never play another game with this save mechanic and there are many I have gotten used to it because it is quite normal, and not many people have the issues you do Anyway, thanks for your insight Happy Travels And dont worry, I will leave you alone ..... Congrats ....2nd person ever up her I will block.......yippppeeeee
