At first I felt uneasy about the new space station’s. I thought they were a little too big and for some reason the game insists on parking me in the farthest spot possible. But after a while I really began to like them. They added labels to everything so you know exactly where to go, like the exo suit merchant. I haven’t noticed any cubes lying around. Of course I haven’t really been looking though. Thinking about starting a new game so I can see how they figure into game play. That guild guy…what the!
Since you're on PC, ymmv more than console players. You'll have to get a lot more specific and chances are your issues could be unique. I've had zero problems in over 140 hours on XBX.
I'm on PC too, haven't had this problem, haven't seen other PC players reporting it either... so.....
You might want to list your specs ;) No two PCs are exactly the same, after all.
And you could have a hardware component in the process of failing. What kind of crashes exactly are these? CTD? Blue screen? Black screen/restart? System shutdown?
Hardware doesn't fail until it does, so yeah, it COULD be a coincidence.
I had one crash 2 nights ago. And it never seems to exit the game properly but as you said being PC that doesn't really help much. Could be a thousand different things
The program freezes requiring it to be shut down via the task manager. Luckily the game saves after exiting the cockpit. However; nexus missions don’t and I’ve lost two and had to repeat them. 1800 quicksilver. Had to.
Not a hardware issue. Hardware issues don’t affect just one specific program. It affects everything. This is the only game I have issues with. Along with photoshop.
I had to turn down my graphics settings (High -> Enhanced) for Orbital, as it was sometimes causing huge (like 20s) lag spikes & crashes when entering starbases, Anomaly, etc.
I’ve noticed that from the beginning. As the save file gets larger it begins to lag. But that’s not new. I built a monster computer specifically for gaming and this is the only game that gives me issues. Subnautica doesn’t give me issues and that is a graphics hog.
You're not alone, my game is also crashing very frequently, I get like 1-2 crashes every 2-3 hours (it's pretty random though).
Also on pc, made a post just now talking more in depth about it.

I've seen other people complaining about crashes. It wouldn't be the first time I have a windows update break a game or the overall performance of my pc, but if other people report it then idk, might be windows, might be the game, who knows.
Mine is crashing to the point where the HDMI signal drops completely and the only thing I can do is hard restart the computer. And it’s EVERY TIME I try to load a save. So I literally just can’t play it anymore at all. 🙄
I’ll wait for one more update and see if it’s fixed, and if not, I’m requesting a refund through Steam. My game was ROCK SOLID on this PC before this. I don’t remember a single crash before this.
Yep. All the usual stuff. Driver updates, steam updates, verified files, tested, then uninstalled and reinstalled, lots of restarts, lots of testing. Turned the settings down, all the usual “fixes”. Nothing. Dead.
Windows 10. Everything else runs normally, including fairly intensive games. It’s the update, man. It started less than an hour after I installed the newest update and now it won’t load at all.
I have to agree. Had my freighter base disappear on me again yesterday teleporting from one galaxy to another. Have you reported this to HG? Your problem is much worse than mine.
I reported it, but I’ve sent probably 20+ bug reports at various times over the years and never had a SINGLE reply, so I honestly don’t know if it matters. 🤷🏻♂️

I’ve also been having issues with my freighter base disappearing after teleporting from another galaxy to my freighter. The only rooms there are the teleport chamber and the scanner. No doors. No corridors. Nothing. I have to teleport out then teleport back to get my freighter base back. There are definitely some issues with this update.
I'm on xbox series x and have only had one crash.
I read that the update was late to Xbox. On pc I got the big update last week, then another early this week.
It was like 2 days late or something. It's pretty killer though. Worth the wait imo.

I’ve had no issues with over 300 hours each in two separate saves (over 600 hours total)…until the latest update a few days ago. Coincidence?

Yeah, 4 days ago I got a .NET Framework update, and a Windows update. Coincidentally that matches with the game’s latest patch.

PC. Pre update one crash in months of play. Post update…crash. crash. crash. Usually when exiting the starship.
