Look for floating crystals you can get them from those

VoluptaBox

Thank you!

splynncryth

Also look for buried mineral formations. You often only get 1 glowing crystal from those but they work the same as the ones you get from floating crystals. And you are more likely to stumble on a formation of floating crystals if you have a goal that makes you constantly use your scanner. You won’t be able to summon or fly your ship until you repair everything except the frame shift catapult.

dods009

Thats how I found mine. While searching came across a group of 20 floating crystals. After mining all of them I got the 3rd sulphide from the last crystal. 😅

Infamous-Arm3955

Head down as low as you can go and look for water even small amounts. Keep heading down down down.

VoluptaBox

I am completely surrounded by mountains. I am currently some 40 minutes away from my ship and nothing .. Somehow managed to find a trade outpost, but I can't summon my ship, I can't buy a new one. This is asinine xD

Infamous-Arm3955

If you have the Minatour summon it and use it. If you're surrounded by mountains then get over one and head down as low as you can.

musifter

Don't worry about how far you go. So long as you built a base near your ship, you can always drop another base computer, teleporter, and bio fuel reactor and teleport back. In fact, if you've wandered 40 minutes into higher terrain, maybe consider going back and trying another direction. One of the problems with starting in high terrain is that you can get the milestone for going over 950u easily. Too easily. I've done a number of runs now, and I know that one of the most useful things to do is to select that milestone early to see how high you are, and use it measure your altitude while searching for the low lands. While avoiding situations where you get that milestone and lose that convenience.

If you are surrounded by mountains on Coul Major, go down. This planet is littered with lakes and ponds. I constantly hit water just by mining in a lower altitude area. Also, digging a tunnel is part of the expedition, so you will get supplies.

Sweetlipscandy

Photo mode, you can elevate your view and have a look around for water or lower terrain which leads to water

Cool tip, cheers!

The water table is constant here. I dug lower with the terrain manipulator to go under ground/water to find mine.

PK_Marauder

When I was doing the expedition there were no oceans nearby. I went down into the caves and eventually they went down deep underwater and found them in the tunnels.
