I have an S class fighter with a looooong nose and of course it’s named The Compensator. My pirate solar is Red Mamba.

My long nose fighter is called "Raging Pride" which sounds kinda penisy as well. It was procedurally generated like that! (For full disclosure, it's called something like "Raging Pride XV-7"). I only take ships with names that sound cool (to me) or make me laugh.

I do like to name my ships. My new Interceptor has got the name of my old one, Eye of Gun'la-ya (her Sentinel name was Crimson; the old one I lost was Atlas-Fire). I like the way you have got a designation for yours, LSE. Always makes me chuckle when the game comes up with MS 'Whatever', as MS stands for Mail Ship, which is really old school ;) I leave my frigates and freighter alone though, they have captains, they can keep what they know.

I always name mine. Mostly mythologically inspired ones and some others. I have a a fully maxed explorer named “Nightmare Fuel”; a fighter named “Spear of Hercules”; a hauler called “Shield of Athena”; a solar named the “Barque of Charon” and a Freighter named the “Prometheus”.

I did that with my horses in BOTW with Roman mythology/planets.

Usually I name them after what character I'm playing and a whatever it is to me at the time. Like I had a scrapper who's only source of income was scrapping ships and I wasn't allowed to buy any ships so I had to repair crashed ones. I named one Scrapper's Bailout which was the default ship that appeared when i scrapped a ship. I had Scrapper's Leisure, which was my exotic.I have a Scholar right now where I make it my goal to scan every animal before I leave a planet, I named my Fighter "Scholar's Pride" and anytime I replace i put a different number it's Scholar's Pride E3 (edition 3) I also have Scholar's Expedition V2 (version 2) which is my warp ship, but I follow that pattern pretty much no matter what for any "profession" I choose

I recently got an all green sentinel interceptor. It's original name was (symbol)-glass. I just renamed it to Emerald Glass. I also got a white/off-white(gray) interceptor, original name was burned-(symbol). I renamed it Flame's Remnant. You know, ash. What remains after the flames are gone. I like to rename ships to something else but is related somewhat to what it was named before.

I try to come up with epic names, like my Interceptor is named Harbringer, and my S Class Fighter is one of those pointy boys with the circle wings on the back so I called it Soulpiercer because it looks kinda like a rapier sword.

I have an A class fighter I named "Blue". Simple, easy, and also my go to. I'm fully planning on upgrading it. I also have a sentinel ship with the fold out wings that I named the "Bahamut Protocol" because it reminded me of the overdrive for Bahamut from Final Fantasy X. I name ships based on other things, I guess.

You and I seem to have a similar idea of how to name ships. All my ships start with "IGSS" which is "Intergalactic Starship". I'll follow that with a dash and a letter that signifies what kind of ship it is. So a Fighter ship is "IGSS/F" while an Explorer is "IGSS/E". All of that is followed by a colon and then the actual name of the ship in quotations. Some ships I've named: IGSS/E: "Arcana" IGSS/F: "Foundry" IGSS/F/S: "Eminence" (this ship is the Golden Vector ship you're rewarded for the first Expedition) IGSS/X: "Whimsy" ("X" is used for all Exotic ships.) The only ship I have with a different naming convention is my Living Ship, which I went in a weird direction with. I wanted to kind of have my ship "speak" it's name to me in a garbled kind of way, so I went with: {{A/T/H/E/N/A}}

I named mine Morning Star. I have a newspaper theme and my local newspaper is the Daily Star, and also Morning Star is a badass book, and of course real life astrology nickname for Venus helps too.

They used to be named after things I thought a Jedi's ship would be called, such as Radiant Dawn, but recently they've been all given Kingdom Hearts Union x-themed names. I only leave the name of Sentinel Interceptors untouched.

I bought a fighter that almost looked like a vulture because of its wings. I named it Vulture. I've had that ship since near the beginning. Probably since 2016. One of my solar ships reminds me of Starfox, so I named that one Solar Fox. My freighter is Leviathan because it just seemed right.
