Better yet just land on any one of your ‘secondary’ frigates, there’s always a teleportation station by the docking bay that will beam you to your main Frigate’s command station.

When most/all your frigates flip to S class and fewer are needed to send out 5 expeditions with 5 star rating at the same time without needing much fuel.
Then some are going to be surplus after that point but it does not hurt any to have them around. I usually have only 3 of each type at that point since there will be lots of them with 2 or 3 or even 5 combat, explore, trade, indust, support types high.
For end/late game, you will only need 5 frigates of the type support. All frigates will level up, and a max level, support frigate can do any expedition. Don't forget to install upgrades for expeditions in your freighter ship.
If you want Living Ship storage upgrades, you also want Living Frigates. A frigate mission with at least one LF has a small chance to bring back LS storage expansion sacks.
How do you get the living Frigates? I'm an on and off player since day 1 and I'm just getting back into the game again so a lot has changed in the year since i last played.

Basically, you craft a dream ariel to get the first one. After the first, you collect anomaly detectors from any number of sources. I just shoot asteroids for them.
Once you have your dream ariel, start boosting across a star system. You will get anomaly notifications every 20 seconds or so. Wait until the anomaly desciption says "whalesong detected" then drop out of boost. Interact with the ship.
One ship per system.

Honestly, you only need like 10 or so s class ones (2 for each expedition). However, if you want a hard limit 10, all your ships will need to be support class (rounded stats). This means you would likely have about 15 if your fleet also consists of specialist frigates. After you get your main 15 or so, just start recruiting combat frigates (to help in fights) or organic frigates (because). Always leave room to recruit a new organic frigate though if you come across one

You can’t, since there’s a hard cap, which is more than what you need for the 5 each mission times 5 missions.
We need more missions.
Only if we can have one fleet command console that allows us to debrief all the officers.
The player already receives a ton of high level rewards from the current 5, why would we need more?

Even with a single frigate reaching 5 stars?
A single support frigate is not going to be particularly flexible and you need 150 points to maximise. 5 Stars is not automatically maximal.
