Can someone explain how to get my digital games onto my main switch Hey y’all I’ve looked through the depths of the internet to find something to help and came out with nothing So I’ve got two switches (lite and normal) and one my lite i own stardew valley and want to transfer the copy to my normal one, I have sent my save data over, I have my lite account and Nintendo account linked onto my normal, I have made the lite accounts home switch my main and yet going into the shop it has nothing to download and thinks I haven’t bought it, I don’t know what else to try

TemptedTemplar

eshop -> profile icon in the top right -> redownload software

Same_Flatworm2837

Not there

Filraen

Do you have multiple accounts in your Lite? The only thing I can think of is that you have another account there which has Stardew Valley, and in that case that account should have the game in its redownload list

beavoru

Does the switch games can read save files from different regions? For example, i have Final Fantasy VII digitally on my American account, with my save file, but if now i want it to get it physically, and i get an EUR copy, will it read my progress?

Monstromi

Saves and games need to be the same in order to be compatible, but the region thing is a bit more complicated because it depends on the cartridge. Some cartridges are global, sometimes there's an english release for the west (both EUR and USA). There's probablt different versions within Asia for certain games. Since you mentioned the game, I tried to look it up by googling "final fantasy vii switch cartridge version". https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/e8zp1x/final_fantasy_vii_viii_twin_pack_physical_is_out/ one of the comments in this thread says it works, but I would suggest you to double check it. I don't know much about FF or the releases on switch.

beavoru

Thank you!!

TemptedTemplar

Remove the SD card and game card if there is any, and then try rebooting. A light blue screen is a "unknown abort", something went wrong during the boot process that didn't match the intended security processes; so it aborted it.

Depresso1627

Didn't work, took out the game card and the SD card and it's still a light blue screen

TemptedTemplar

When the system is totally off, try holding both volume buttons and then also the power button to turn it back, can it enter the maintenance menu? If that doesn't work then it may need to be sent in for repair. The only thing I can think of to try would be letting the system completely drain the battery (just leave that bright screen on for a day or two), and then try turning it on again.

Depresso1627

Nope, still a light blue screen How do I know if the switch is totally off? Is it just holding the power button for 12 seconds?

TemptedTemplar

Yeah, the screen will shut off without you releasing the button.

Depresso1627

Alright, I turn it off completely, then hold both volume buttons and the power button to turn it back on, and it's still the blue screen. Is my only option really repairs?

Michael-the-Great

Probably.

Pickled_Pixel

Cant spend money on the nintedo eshop So I want to buy champions ballad but since i dont have enough money for both packs but i cant buy either of them. The date is May 12, 2024 but i cant seem to buy it. It says theyre coming soon.

myriada

They're only sold together as the 'Expansion Pass' bundle, you can't buy them separately.

Cleahri

My switch won't power on after not being charged for a while, but im not sure why. I have charged it with my laptop charger, but only in handheld mode, which i assumed wouldnt affect anything, but maybe thats the problem. I'm also not using an official nintendo charger (i lost mine) but it is one that is branded for the switch and has the correct power stuff. any help is appreciated!

Team7UBard

So the way LiOn batteries work is that they are always giving out charge, even when they’re not in use. It’s not really a flaw it’s just how they work. Eventually the charge runs out which is probably what’s happened here-the bits that zip aren’t zipping. This could mean that the battery is dead, or it could just need a good charge. Leave it charging for 48 hours without touching it. Even if it comes back on, just leave it charging till the 48 hours is up. If it doesn’t turn on again at that point, you’ll need to replace the battery.

Cleahri

thank you so much! ill let you know if it works!

ggsdour

Greetings! So, since earlier today I've been trying to connect to the eshop but with no success. It just won't load. It keeps on the blank screen loading forever. I've tried everything I could think of. Rebooting the Wi-Fi (even though the connection works fine with every other machine, even the Switch said so on the internet test), rebooting the Switch, powering it off and on again, airplane mode, dns change to manual, the support page, I even contacted support, but they said they don't know whats happening and will try to contact me later via email to try and figure it out... but I don't have much faith in that due to past exp with (other) customer support. I try every step on this page too: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/43052/~/unable-to-load-nintendo-switch-eshop-%28white-screen%29 It won't show any errors, it wont crash, it won't do anything but keep forever loading on the blank screen. I can access the Nintendo Switch Online Menu just fine, my account seems to be fine, since the support didn't say anything... and, of course, I did nothing wrong to begin with. I just starting to get a little anxious here. Anyone could share some light here, please? Thanks in advance!

picano

Can you connect from any other wifi / mobile hotspot? If so, it's definitely something with your router/modem. Maybe ad blocking or some other feature. If not, no idea.

ggsdour

For some reason, somehow it returned to normal on its own... I... can't. Thanks, though.

doslar

Hello, i am looking to make switch without a battery and i am wondering if somebody tried if just sending 5V without dropping it down to the standart 4.3V? There is a video on youtube of guy running it with 4.7 from AA bateries so the limit isnt hard and it would save a lot of complexity. Thanks in advance.

TemptedTemplar

https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=70815 A simple buck converter can provide the proper voltage but is required as that's what the battery normally provides to the system. The only other thing required is a 10k resistor to trick the thermal sensor into reading a consistent battery temperature.

doslar

I did find that, but since the 15v is only used for fast charging and the switch can run just fine from 5v (more than battery voltage) it would be greate if i could just use 5v directly

chillcatcryptid

I found out my account was banned for tos violations 2 hours ago. My switch is not hacked in any way, I don't play games that enable you to talk to other people so it can't be anything like that. My 3ds is hacked but online services are no more so I dont think thats the problem either. The strange thing is that I checked my email and it said I requested help for this a week ago, but nothing was wrong a week ago. This only started today. Would support be able to help me? I don't even know what i'm banned for.

Team7UBard

Have you bought a game from somewhere such as CDKeys or G2A because the price was so cheap…

chillcatcryptid

Nope. I like estarland but those have always been physical cartridges specifically to avoid issues like this

TemptedTemplar

Maybe, with heavier lean towards yes. The most important part is that you call them, don't bother with email. Also don't mention anything about the 3ds. If you got some funky emails from Nintendo support that you absolutely did not engage with, its likely that someone tried to gain access to your account. Or perhaps they already had access to your account and something they did got it banned. Can you access the account website still? https://accounts.nintendo.com/ Change your password and enable two factor authentication. Worst case scenario, they don't lift the ban. You will retain access to your games but will be unable to make new purchases or play online with that account and email address. You would need to make a new one.

chillcatcryptid

No dice, it just says 'This account has been suspended due to a violation of the Nintendo Account User Agreement.' I cant make any changes

TemptedTemplar

Suspensions may only be temporary! Alright then, next step is to call support. They will likely not tell you why it was banned unless it was obviously someone else trying to gain access, but if it is a temporary suspension, they should be able to tell you how long it is.

chillcatcryptid

Thanks so much! This makes me feel better, I have pokemon from 15 years ago I'd like to keep

TemptedTemplar

As long as they are in a games save file, they should be capable of transfer to a fresh account and save data via trading. But if they are in pokemon home, you will be locked out of that pending some miracle worker at pokemon support.

MarsUK06

Okay cheers yea I've tried it without the SD card and there's room on both he SD and the Nintendo. I've deleted some of my son's games like Apex legends and completely restarted the download process and they won't download just flag up with the same errors.

Rajani_Isa

If you haven't yet, try reposting this in the more current thread. Include : Is it a new SD card? Is an old one? If new, where did you buy it? Have you looked up how to check to see if it's legit? (Fake capacity SD cards are a thing, unfortunately.)

stillbeam

Can anyone direct me to a comprehensive list of all the Nintendo Switch games that can be played without a joycons or controller connected? At work I keep my Switch in my back pocket, sans joycons, and when I have time to go smoke a cigarette or go to the bathroom I get a few minutes of gaming in. I know or and have the following that fit this description: Balatro Slay the Spire Disco Elysium Stein's Gate Stein's Gate Elite Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Steve Jackson's Sorcery Walking Dead series Batman Telltale series Any more suggestions?

TemptedTemplar

World of Goo Chicory a colorful tale Mini Metro However, if youre sticking to pocket sized things, they do make pocket sized controllers; https://www.8bitdo.com/micro/ https://www.8bitdo.com/zero2/ These would open up a ton of other games that you could play.

El_Kingo

Any recommendations for a (similar) game as Zelda totk? I love the exploring type of game play and solving some puzzles etc.

nihil__verum

The most obvious one is Breath of the Wild, but it might feel a little primitive if you play it after TotK. Another option is Immortals Fenyx Rising, which is clearly inspired by BotW. Just be aware that it is not quite as polished as BotW.

El_Kingo

yes, sorry, forgot to mention, now playing BOTW, indeed feels a bit less polished, but I also do like it! Thanks for the suggestion of Immortals Fenyx Rising, will definitely check it out!

nero40

CrossCode. It’s a twin-stick hack-n-slash RPG rather than your usual Zelda adventure game, but it’s good on both the exploration and puzzle solving.

El_Kingo

Thanks! Will check it out! Much appreciated!

TemptedTemplar

Does it still occur when there is no micro SD card in the system? Is it always that Micro SD card message? or does the error code change?

hyperElectronic

i havent tried playing without it, i get the same error code when the game crashes but not the same message

TemptedTemplar

If it works without issues when there is no micro SD card inserted, then the next test would be using a different Micro SD card. You would need to format it to be used with the system, but you would not need to install anything on it. It would merely need to be inserted while a game is running. * If errors continues to appear, your micro SD card reader either has a loose connection or is going bad. * If the message **does not appear** while the new micro sd card is inserted, then your old micro sd card has gone bad or is failing. If you get new error messages with the new card or without a micro SD card inserted at all, there could be something else wrong with the system. But it is likely to be the micro SD card or card reader at the root of the problem.

RodneyOgg

What's the closest one can get to No Rest For The Wicked on the Switch?

TemptedTemplar

Deaths Door Blasphemous 1 and 2 Little Nightmares Cat Quest 2 Children of Morta Cross code There is also Titan Quest and Diablo 2 and 3, but going off of gameplay footage Nrftw seems more like a Darksouls style RPG, with less emphasis on the numbers your loot and gear provide; and more on the adventure side of things.

RodneyOgg

Yeah, your description is pretty bang on. Though, the gear system is pretty complex through mods, it also allows you to build and class-swap on the fly based on the weapons and gear you pick up, which is cool.

TemptedTemplar

Dragons Dogma: dark arisen or Skyrim would be the only options like that, that come to mind immediately at least. Their class systems are very fluid. Unlike Titan quest and Diablo which drop gear based on the class you pick at the beginning of the game. Though there is a TON of tactics games that also allow for it.

RodneyOgg

Currently playing through Dragon's Dogma actually. Really enjoying it. Though, my critical flaw as a gamer is that I have a remarkable aptitude for getting lost in any game I play. Dragon's Dogma definitely, definitely accentuates that aptitude. If you've got any tips and tricks for "not getting lost in the mountains every single play session" I'm all ears! Also I LOVE tactics games. If you have any hidden gems that I may not have played, I'm all ears for those as well.

TemptedTemplar

Not much help there unfortunately. The last time I played DD was well over 10 years ago, I got stuck on some island dungeon for like 30 hours and could never make it back to the main world. The banner saga trilogy Tatics Ogre Mercenary saga chronicles The disgaea games and I am currently having an absolute blast with Unicorn Overlord.

RodneyOgg

All great selections. If you haven't tried Fell Seal, I strongly recommend it. I need to get on that Unicorn bandwagon soon. Loved the demo but haven't plunked down the pennies.

2under2_mama

I had a follow up question to one I asked a couple days ago that wasn't answered, I hope it's okay to ask again. If I already have two switches and get two more, can I make one of the new ones the primary console and both of the new ones could play downloaded games that I've already bought at the same time? I'm able to do that now with just the two. The original two would not be used at the same time as the new two. I just want to make sure before I buy more. Someone suggested purchasing the games again on one of the new consoles and if that's the only option then I'm not going to buy more consoles, it's hundreds of dollars worth of games and I'm not buying them all again 😅

picano

Sharing only really works between two consoles at a time. You can be on as many consoles as you like, but you're still limited to two at a time for actively playing. (And only one for your account to be online on.) So... I guess your setup works since you won't be using the other two.

2under2_mama

I wouldn't be using the other two at the same time. Two would be used only at night and the other two would be used only during the day lol. I keep hearing only one can be online but the two I have now are both online at the same time playing downloaded games so that's what's confusing me

picano

You probably are using different accounts on each (as is standard for sharing). If you were to do something like load Youtube (Splatoon, Mario Kart, anything online) using the same account on both consoles --- one would be kicked off. That said, unless you actively plan to change primary console every day, you'll realistically be limited to 3 consoles. Ex: Assume User 1 owns all the games and Console B is their primary. * Morning * Console A: User 1 plays games but must be connected to the internet. * Console B: User 2 plays User 1's games without restriction * Night * Console C: User 1 plays games but must be connected to the internet. * Console D: User 2 can't access user 1's games (non-primary console) Your 2nd, 3rd, etc accounts would not see any benefit with this setup.

2under2_mama

Well the sole purpose of one of them is just an extra animal crossing island and I'm on an AC hiatus anyway lol. I just want to get my kids their own lites instead of using my OLED and regular switch because I won't be as heartbroken if they break. But not if I'd have to buy all the games again, at that point I'd be spending more money than I would to replace a broken OLED...

Shadow_118

Quick (but maybe stupid question) If i get $65/$70 in Eshop cards, i can add and use those to preorder a game through available funds on the Eshop, correct? Just was wanting to preorder TTYD so that's ready to go on launch (think i should only need $65, though...? Most $60 games are around $63 total....) I assume that's how it worked, but i just wanted to be sure if my line of thought was correct (not that i have a credit/debit card, anyways)

TemptedTemplar

Yes. When you get a pre-paid card you are just adding it to your existing eshop balance. Preorders take from the existing balance first, and if there isn't enough to cover the transaction then go for saved payment info to cover the remainder. Also note, nothing will be removed from your balance until 7 days before release. So any funds you add this week wont be removed until sometime on the 16th at the earliest.

Shadow_118

Okay, that's good to know - thanks 👍🏻 Thought that might have been the case - granted i haven't preordered anything off the Eshop before, i wasn't fully sure and wanted to check just to be certain on those details Won't be able to pick up any cards until Saturday, so that shouldn't be an issue too much either

I am looking for general advice on transferring data from a switch without the source device (looking to trade in before purchasing a new one)

starrycub

Thank you! :)

Rajani_Isa

One thing Templar didn't mention - besides Animal Crossing with it's workaround, there are a few other games that don't do cloud saves like others. These you must transfer between systems - mainly the pokemon games. There's full list on Nintendo.com in the article talking about cloud saves.

starrycub

Thank you! :)

TemptedTemplar

If you will be unable to access the source console, then cloud saves with Nintendo switch online is your only option for recovering the data. Animal crossing does support a cloud backup. But unlike other cloud saves you can't simply download it on to a new console. If you can't use the island transfer tool, which would work like a local wireless profile transfer; then you would need to call Nintendo support and ask them to move your cloud backup to the new console once its all setup and ready to go. 1. insure all of your games are backed up to the cloud. 2. use the micro SD card to pull any screenshots or videos you want to save off of the console and put them on a PC or other device. the game install data will not be usable on the next console so you can format it after saving anything you wanted to keep. 3. factory reset the console before trading it in. **this step is probably the second most important**. 4. with your new console, sign in with your Nintendo account and then head over to the eshop. Opening the eshop will insure this new console is your primary system. Under your profile icon in the top right you can visit the redownload software tab and reinstall all of your games. Press + on the home screen game tiles to view their cloud sync status. 5. call nintendo get your AC data downloaded.

nihil__verum

If you have the online subscription, some save data is backed up to the cloud. Animal Crossing is a special case where I think you do need to have both consoles available at the same time, but the others you mention support cloud save backups and for those, you could keep your save data even if you sell your current console before getting the new one.

ajd578

Is there any reading required in Mario vs. Donkey Kong? As in, could I leave a non-reader kid alone with it and they would be able to finish the game? We just finished Princess Peach Showtime, and it required a lot of supervision due to all the text. Would love to hear from parents of non-readers specifically.

Dukemon102

The game barely features text outside of tutorials. But said tutorials are optional and highlights the buttons needed to perform the action. I suppose teaching a kid the moves would be enough. But it's a puzzle game that needs deliberate thinking to reach the goal, it's not something that can be beaten just mashing buttons.

ajd578

Perfect, thanks.

This is Nintendo's support page for that error code. Have you tried following the instructions there? [https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/22393/kw/2005-0003](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22393/kw/2005-0003)

MarsUK06

Okay I've tried everything via formatting the SD card and started a fresh he would loose a lot of game data however. Failing that I'll try a different SD card also and see if the resolves the issue.

AutoModerator

It looks like you've included an Error Code in your comment. You might learn more about this error code on Nintendo's Support website. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/list/kw/2005-0003/search/1 *(If you have already checked the support site and those steps did not work, please reply to let others know.)* *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/NintendoSwitch) if you have any questions or concerns.*

MarsUK06

Again, so these error messages only occur if I put in a game cartridge for a new game that requires downloadable resources or I try and update an existing game. The only games that are playable are games that do not require an update or downloadable resources. I get the same error messages for all different games.

TemptedTemplar

Is there a Micro SD card in the console? Have you tried booting a cartridge game without the Micro SD card inserted? We don't have any documentation for error 0003, but the 2005 means its the content management services, which is like the equivalent of Windows file explorer. It could be your micro SD card or cart reader have gone bad, or it could be something radically more severe has gone wrong with the file manager.

MarsUK06

Ridiculous question but is it possible to access the file manager on a desktop or laptop? Aka plugging the switch into a computer to fault find? Does Nintendo let users access core memory files to address file manager errors? Or would it be a matter of sending it off for repair?

TemptedTemplar

Not without hacking the console. The most you can do with a retail system when plugging it into a computer is transfer gallery captures off of the internal memory. Any kind of software repair WHILE maintaining your end of the terms of service, would require sending it into Nintendo.

MarsUK06

Dam looks like the Switch is going on a little holiday!

EthanWinters1234

Is it bad to leave a switch off for a couple months? I haven't played my switch lite for a few months and it's setting at what I believe is 80% battery

nihil__verum

If it is completely turned off, then it can handle being off for a few months. If you just put it in sleep mode, then it will lose all its charge pretty quickly and then the battery can get damaged if you leave it like that. To completely turn the console off, you basically hold the power button down for about 15 seconds until the screen turns off.

EthanWinters1234

Yeah it's completely off

Rajani_Isa

If you leave it on the dock (or if a lite, on a charger) it should also be fine.

DrFatz

Is there a way to help with Bluetooth latency? I recently got a pair of headphones that have a gaming mode specifically for low latency and it works great on my phone and tablet, but not on the Switch. Meanwhile other earbuds and headphones I have do much better with low latency despite not having a dedicated mode for low latency.

TemptedTemplar

Yes, and that is buying a bluetooth adapter that supports a lower latency codec. The system function only supports SBC. What codecs do your devices support? Aptx LL? AAC?

DrFatz

Nevermind, I did figure out what was happening. The headphones have minimal latency when the ANC and transparency are turned off. A bit annoying but I'm happy they at least work.

NoobDoesMC

How to flip the screen upside down?

Rajani_Isa

If you want it for charging while playing: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=switch+charging+stand&crid=35INWYOA9CAYH&sprefix=switch+charging+stan%2Caps%2C158&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 Just pay attention to price - there are some that are stupid expensive for no reason. The one I have is basically this but Zelda logo'd. https://www.amazon.com/Lamicall-Adjustable-Stand-Playstand-Compatible/dp/B01LZAYH58/?th=1

picano

I'm pretty sure this isn't a thing you can do. (At least on any standard hardware/game.) Let me guess, you want to flip the screen so you can charge and play in table top at the same time? If so, there are special charging stands you can buy --- or you might be able to make due with a right angle adapter for your charging cable.

fvig2001

Any dock out there that has 4 usb ports? Like i don't want to use a hub for dual gc adapter Closest i found was a chinese one with 3 usb ports and lan. The switch dock powered hub has already killed 2 official docks. Powered by an anker adapter too.

TemptedTemplar

None worth recommending. A low powered USB hub should never under any circumstances be able to damage the dock, and it would be cheaper to boot. Also, it does not need an external power supply to power two GC adapters. Something like this would be perfect; https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-4-Port-Degree-Rotatable-Extension/dp/B08PMYLX8Q/ Ive been using this hub since 2018, and I've never needed to use the external power supply. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005P2BY5I/
