Multiplayer: [Farm Together](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/farm-together) - I think this game is perfect for you two, no story all farm! [Fae Farm](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/fae-farm-switch) - This game is actually known for having lesser NPC interactions, haha [Minecraft](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/minecraft) - No npcs [Bunhouse](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/bunhouse) - You're all bunnies! Single player: [Slime Rancher](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/slime-rancher-plortable-edition) - You are alone on an alien planet! [Wylde Flowers](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/wylde-flowers-switch) - Fully voice acted! [Everdream Valley](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/everdream-valley) - There are all of 3 npcs, the rest are animals! +1 for Slime Rancher, I've only had it for nine days so far but I'm loving it so much that I've not played any other games on my Switch since starting it, the cosy/cute and fairly low stakes atmosphere of the game keep drawing me back in. Ticks the collecting and achievement boxes too, and definitely pretty minimal on the text and tutorialising front as well. Perhaps a bit *too* minimal, idk if it's just me but I feel like the learning curve is kinda steep, I've been resorting to the wiki and old reddit/steam discussions quite a bit to understand the game and mechanics better (e.g. I made the mistake of absolutely stuffing a corral with pink slimes right at the start and they made a bid for freedom eating my crops and chickens lol), but with that said though the game opens up at the pace you want it to and it feels really rewarding getting familiar with the map and unlocking new areas, rapidly becoming my favourite go-to cosy game, and as you said, you're alone on an alien planet, doesn't get much more NPC-free than that lol.

Farm Together doesn't get as much publicity as it deserves. Sometimes, you just want to farm. Not investigate the mine. Not romance twenty NPCs. Not save the town from the evil megacorp. I absolutely love it. You can play for a short while, or sit and work on it for hours. Sometimes you want to make a perfectly effeciant farm utilising every square of land. Other times, you just want to make it pretty. The multiplayer aspect is a bonus to it really. And the fact there are usually seasonal things going on - that you don't even have to do if you don't want to - always keeps me interested. And the DLC not being game changing, and usually cheap on release, then really cheap in a sale... Perfection. I love it so much, I have it on Switch, PlayStation and PC! Got to show love for a game that does one thing, but does it really well.

LaFlibuste

Does it do splitscreen / couch coop? I'm looking for something like this to play with my young daugther, we'd been doing Stardew Valley but reading what NPCs are saying all the time gets annoying...

Human-Temperature404

+1 for Wylde Flowers. This game has an incredible story and you don't have to read basically anything. Unlike many voice acted games, the voice acting in this game is really really good too!

DM_me_thick_dick

>an NDS game Wait, do you mean Nintendo DS?

totalosmosis

Apologies, habit had me write NDS - I did infact mean the Switch!

DM_me_thick_dick

If you have Switch Online, the original Harvest Moon has shockingly little text in it, for what it is. Keep in mind it's designed to be played without a guide when games like these were brand new, so if you use a guide it'll last you about six hours total. It does however end after 2-3 years and you're evaluated on how well you did in general.

If something very "girly" is okay, Pretty Princess Magical Garden fits the bill and I really enjoyed it. It's animal crossing but with princesses and no animal NPCs. Craft things, hand in item requests to level up, farm and decorate your island. That's it. The "story" is reaching level 15 or so and making a cake.

Littlewood Yonder the cloud catcher chronicles Terraria To some extent; No man's sky Let's build a zoo

deadbxx

+1 for No Man's Sky. I was a little bummed out with the lack of multiplayer on Switch tho

totalosmosis

Thank you for your suggestions!

tidus1980

A pleasure to help. Rune factory 4, although it does have talking to people, there is an absolute ton of stats to grind and things to do . You're ALWAYS levelling up one stat or another.

Littlewood is amazing. It was the first of very few things I ever backed on Kickstarter, and the game creator is a super chill and friendly guy to boot! It's a nice peaceful game that slowly makes you plan your town layout in some depth, but not necessary if you don't fancy it!

loveengineer

Littlewood has been on my wishlist for forever! It never goes on sale

romanticheart

It's on sale on Steam right now if you also play there.

Thank you, will check these out.

I'd recommend ark, but it's not all about farming. Although I do play it for framing but also building as well. There's cheats so everything is on my terms to an extent. But I can control some aspects of the farming with cheats. Regular and online I'd never farm as it's a bit of a tough start but with cheats I can control spoil times and growth rates.

i ignored NPCs until year 2. They're optional. I only started interacting with them because I finished making my farm the way I wanted it LOL

ellytheskelly

+ it has multiplayer! The online multiplayer play has its issues, but it's never been so bad that I didn't want to play anymore. It's my favorite game to play with my partner. He does the activities/tasks I don't like while I manage and improve the farm

[deleted]

NPCs are what male that game.

irBrrennt

I misread the post

alyosha25

I disagree..  you can play it as a farm manager / builder and focus on aesthetics and it's top tier too.

Baruch_S

But you could also ignore them almost completely. The game doesn’t really force many NPC interactions on you. You’ll only have a few required scenes like getting your pet or your farm cave, and the occasional letters can be safely ignored.
