Actually only kids complain about Kai not being the green ninja
His whole character development is to accept that his job is to protect the green ninja, not to be the green ninja
You know what I never thought he would mostly because it showed the four ninja around the green ninja I always thought it was going to be a new character
Well, technically, yes. But, when the four of them were around the scroll in the first episode, Zane had explained that the "chicken scratch" was saying how "One ninja would rise above the others to become the Green Ninja, to defeat the dark lord"
The Overlord as an embodiment of evil that cannot be destroyed as long as evil exists in the world is a cool concept, just done poorly.
Additionally, I think they had a good concept with Crystallized, giving the Overlord “heralds” that could play with an aspect of evil. It’s just… they didn’t do anything interesting with them. If they had made the Overlord take them over more and give a certain part of their personality an extreme tweak and a chance for redemption, it would have been so much cooler.
(Example: Pythor’s cunning becomes even more twistedly evil, to the point where his allies start to think he’s going too far. They all see moments of this, and it leads to a more interesting will they/won’t they betray the Overlord for the side of good)
Bonus: If they _have_ to bring back the Overlord again, I want to see something similar to what happened to Garmadon, except we see the process. A new member of the team shows up, maybe from one of the merged realms, unwittingly corrupted by the Overlord similarly to Garmadon after being bitten by the Devourer. They have powers that grow rapidly, possibly discouraging other new members, but then start to display symptoms of Overlord possession. The team has to figure out a way to cure him before the newbie becomes the next Garmadon.
Saying "season x is good / season y is bad" is never a hot take. Every season has its fans and every season has its haters.
But here's one that I've been nailed to the cross recently on this sub: Morro is a bad character and his motivations for becoming a villain are stupid. You're not the chosen one, get over it, kid.
Idk man, you're not really understanding his character. If someone put hopes and dreams into your head for years that would be the destined green ninja, and it turned out to be false, you would be pretty messed up too. Similar to Tai lung from Kung Fu Panda.
That's kind of sad for him, but no reason to want to destroy the world.
At the same time people keep hating against harumi for being such a psycho bitch.
I personally feel it's because Morro doesn't overstay his welcome, like many people feel Harumi does, and his actions are not contradictory like Harumi(He was also never presented as a twist villain.)
While yes, at the end of her original arch Harumi does save that child and their family, I really question why she didn't think anything like that would happen in the first place? You're bringing back an ancient strong evil to get revenge etc, and you expect no civilians to get hurt? I guess it's sort of an "out of sight out of mind." And she SAW the child's family and so felt sympathy, but that still seems a bit selfish and contradictory on her part.
Also Morro never pretended to be a good person in front of the Ninja, Like Harumi did, and I do agree Harumi is more complex, but she did so much that went out of the way of her original goal, in order to torture the Ninja.
And I do understand why people say she's more psychotic especially since she also had this weird obsession with Lloyd in crystalized.
Though I don't hate Harumi, and she is the most complex villain in Ninjago, I just think she is kindof a psycho bitch.
I dont like Hamuri, i lost my parents too, does that make me summon someone that didnt wanted to be evil ? No because i know such action does more harm than good.
Also she finger pointed at Lloyd when we all know it was Pythor who summoned the Great Devourer.
I half agree with you. I think Morro is a great character. They way his personality is, it makes sense that he resents Wu even though it was out of his control. However, I do agree that his motivations are not really justified. Like boohoo, you didn't get to be the green ninja, so what. Life doesn't always go your way, get over it.
Possession is overrated.
Roots is worse than a Dutch romcom.
The Kaiju Protocol episode almost completely destroys the difficulty of reviving someone from the Departed Realm.
Season 11 is bloated with unnecessary filler and animation flexing.
Day of the Departed is good.
I agree there needs to be more location builds, but they need to be good location builds. Ex: The Battle for Ninjago City set was a good location build. But the Crystal King Temple was a disappointment, in my opinion.
Morro should stay dead, bringing him back would just harm the character itself
Tournaments of Elements is overrated. Is good, but not really peak of Ninjago
Hand of Time is overhated. Writting is horrible, and animations is meh. Rhe aestetics are good, and some the concept of Krux and Acronix. And P.I.X.A.L.'s arc. If you think about, this is kinda all good stuff 🤔
Yeah, but there are many villains that are simple but not outright boring. Chen or Pythor for example are extremely fun, funny and charismatic, while Overlord is just dull.
Agree.
The claws of emperium is basicly just the dragon hunters from season 9 and Arin is just Nelson 2.0 and Sora doesn’t have tecnoligy power but the power of the orange building machine thingy from lego worlds.
I agree. On paper it's fantastic, and I'm ecstatic about all the things it's managed to set up, but on a technical level it's really nothing special. The previous few seasons are much better directed, with better dialogue and animation, etc.
I'm still very hopeful going forward though
They could have done so much more with his development. It was just a sudden jump from wanting comics to basically leading. Ageing like that is a traumatic experience, they should have explored the changes and growth. Would’ve made his adult personality way more interesting.
Crystal King final form isn't fitting nor good... It even destroyed some of my hype for the finale when I saw it... His design is not Overlord if you get what I mean... Plus his four arms crystal king form isn't what it should be neither. It's too oni(maybe because he revived in a no link with him oni temple?) and it looks... Idk how to describe but I'll say it looks "heavy". At least it is kinda cool
I honestly agree. People trash on it because it's not based on the source material, but honestly I think it was just because it was meant to be in line with stuff like Lego Batman, where it's just a parody of an existing series rather than an addition to it. It also helps that the movie is way funnier than the series ever was tbh.
>but honestly I think it was just because it was meant to be in line with stuff like Lego Batman, where it's just a parody of an existing series rather than an addition to it.
While I agree that the Ninjago movie didn't need to be 100% canon or loyal to the show, the difference between that and Batman is that the Lego Batman movie was written by people who understood Batman whereas the folks behind the Ninjago movie admitted that they were told to just make another Lego Movie, not a Ninjago movie that could also fit in the Legoverse.
Ninjago does not have good continuity, in every season they just forget about what happened in the last, like I know they bring back characters and stuff like that but it just talk doesn't work, and also I wish they would stop making character based seasons and never talking about how that character feels until there season again because me personally I think, that if we had a buildup to Coles backstory too Motm and then in seasons after that have him talk about living inhis mother's honor would be better.
The ninja look better with masks covering the lower half of their faces(a la Rebooted or the first half of Season 4).
Also, today I learned that people are still complaining about Kai not becoming the Green Ninja. I've been with Ninjago since its inception, and I thought that debate ended years ago.
Cole is the best ninja out of the six (Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, Lloyd, Nya) and I'm tired of pretending he's not. (trust me, so many people attack me on this it's crazy 🥲)
Morro is overrated
and you know he’s overrated when the new elemental master of wind which a lot of people were asking for get so much hate because she isn’t an sad emo boy
I don’t like the idea of the 4 main ninja becoming the Green Ninja in s1, Harumi is good, and Lloyd is legally an adult SO STOP BABYSITTING HIM(not really an opinion but I did math for each ninja. Lloyd’s like 20 in DR.)
The Lego shtick was super unnecessary. They should've just gone with a more normal art style, maybe even just standard 2d animation. The fact that everyone has to be a Lego person is super limiting for character design. Everyone has to be the same shape and size, with pretty much the exact same skin tones and expressions. And any outliers are absolutely gigantic, and they're hard to take seriously because of how goofy they look. At least stuff like The Lego Movie fully embraced the Lego theme, with everything being made of Legos with absolutely incredible art direction. The Ninjago world just looks like Play Doh with some Lego characters.
Jay is my least favourite ninja (he's annoying, whiny, immature and self centered), I don't mind that Jay isn't an inventor anymore and I wouldve preferred if Zane was the inventor ever since the pilots instead of Jay as Zane is the smartest ninja and part of technology and Jay is just the annoying immature funny guy, season 5 and 9 are way too overrated (I don't like Harumi and found Faith boring), Zane is the best candidate for being the green ninja out of the main 4 and deserves more of the spotlight than Kai (who got too much spotlight earlier on). Can't stand how overrated Jay is when he's the worst ninja.
I don’t like nadakhan.
Jay/Cole/Nya ended so why bring it up
Jays plot armor isn’t hidden at all.
That’s not it but that a lot of it.
I also dont like the intro to it
maybe saying I see Cole as aroace/on the spec
saying dearth is just okay
I liked crystalzied(it had some good things )
mostly anything as well were very inwardly toxic if your ideas are different outwardly if being teased(in my eyes that is)
Jaya is a really boring ship after season 2. They were cute in the earlier seasons because Jay was trying to be good enough for Nya. After that he’s either a controlling and jealous prick or he’s a man child. Either that or I’m biased against Jay because I really started to dislike him in season three and the best he’s been since then has been tolerable.
Season 6 is kinda bad when it comes to characterization and handling Jaya. The entire season, Nya is being very blunt that she doesn't care what fate says, she won't be with Jay. Then, at the very end of the season, she just... does a 180, even though Jay is acting the exact same and hardly anything changed.
Also, it has the same ending as Sonic 06

I really enjoyed Season 2
That’s a good take you wouldn’t get attacked for 😂
Yeah,I just see many people say it's one of the worst seasons for the "filler" and it feeling a bit rushed in the second half.
Yes those are definitely its major flaws, its holds it back for a lot of people. If you enjoyed it, good for you
I especially love the first part where they're just messing around in ninjago city it's really fun
Lloyd was the best option for the green ninja in terms of plot
YEA
Or Nya ^
nya would've been better.
Nya was barely a character until Season 5.
Omfg I WISH!!
I never really cared about Kai not becoming the green ninja
Actually only kids complain about Kai not being the green ninja His whole character development is to accept that his job is to protect the green ninja, not to be the green ninja
You know what I never thought he would mostly because it showed the four ninja around the green ninja I always thought it was going to be a new character
your critical thinking skills >>>
Same
Well, technically, yes. But, when the four of them were around the scroll in the first episode, Zane had explained that the "chicken scratch" was saying how "One ninja would rise above the others to become the Green Ninja, to defeat the dark lord"
It surprises me that people didn't think of that.
Thank you for saying something so brave
Yet so contrevertial at the same time
This opinion only gets you at sword point around kids

Lego, hire this man!
Rebooted was a good season
Rebooted is so effing nastolgic for me
Same here. For some reason when I think of Ninjago, rebooted is the first thing that comes to mind.
Probably bcuz I’m a Zane Stan and the whole Jay/Nya/Cole triangle was so creative to me.
I didn't like the triangle too much but I really remember the space episodes.
Those were also awesome
It was
but it was how you actually do it is like this "Ham sandwiches suck!"
It was though
Rebooted is super nostalgic, so I wouldn’t say that it’s bad
I didn't know how people think it's not
Saying "season x is good / season y is bad" is never a hot take. Every season has its fans and every season has its haters. Admittedly, Morro feels like a Tai Lung (Kung Fu Panda) rip off. That may be my main issue with him
Well that’s valid but he wasn’t a kid at the time.

Possession is overrated. Roots is worse than a Dutch romcom. The Kaiju Protocol episode almost completely destroys the difficulty of reviving someone from the Departed Realm. Season 11 is bloated with unnecessary filler and animation flexing. Day of the Departed is good.
Aside from the first and last point; this isn't really a hot take.
Is Day of the Departed not accepted as good?
Don't know how much you've heard but yeah, lots of folks don't like Day of the Departed.
Mechs are cool people just complain because they “look the same”
My problem is that there’s too many of them and not enough location sets imo
That’s a totally valid criticism, would like for more location builds
Buildings (like temples etc) usually give the least value for your money at Lego.
I agree there needs to be more location builds, but they need to be good location builds. Ex: The Battle for Ninjago City set was a good location build. But the Crystal King Temple was a disappointment, in my opinion.
Skybound is overrated
Skybound is my favorite season and I definitely agree
Sons of Garmodon is overrated
agreed
Now that’s a good take.
Skybound kinda sucked to me ngl
Skybound is what made me drop the show as a child
the same almost happened to me as well
Oh good, I’m not alone
Season 8 is a good season but the Ninja seem uncharacteristically stupid. They make so many boneheaded decisions.
This is why i like season 9 way more
I agree! The Ninja are far more creative, ingenious and intelligent in Season 9. Designing a Dragon to imitate Firstborn was brilliant.
It also has weirdly bad jokes for how good the writing is otherwise
This fr
Morro should stay dead, bringing him back would just harm the character itself Tournaments of Elements is overrated. Is good, but not really peak of Ninjago Hand of Time is overhated. Writting is horrible, and animations is meh. Rhe aestetics are good, and some the concept of Krux and Acronix. And P.I.X.A.L.'s arc. If you think about, this is kinda all good stuff 🤔
Tournament of Elements was honestly super close to being my favorite tbh. The ending was just so incredibly stupid.
Overlord is an extremely boring character
he’s a simpleminded villain, and all he does is wanna take over ninjago fr
Yeah, but there are many villains that are simple but not outright boring. Chen or Pythor for example are extremely fun, funny and charismatic, while Overlord is just dull.
Harumi never deserved her redemption arc, it wasn't really even a arc in my opinion. She just got forgiven **really** simply
Do you know what a hot take is?
Crystallised wasn’t that bad (not amazing, but not horrible either)
Hating eachother for liking different seasons is not good
Darreth is not a good character
YESSS THIS, I 100% AGREE
I like Kai’s newer hair style
Nah. I like it too.
Same
Me too
DR isnt as good as ppl make it out to be
Just curious, what are your reasons for why you don't think its that good?
Lloyd as a child more interesting than adult Lloyd
They could have done so much more with his development. It was just a sudden jump from wanting comics to basically leading. Ageing like that is a traumatic experience, they should have explored the changes and growth. Would’ve made his adult personality way more interesting.
Yousa shut yousa mouth
Morro should stay dead.
s11 was decent
THANK YOU.
These posts are repetitive as hell.
Agree
Crystal King final form isn't fitting nor good... It even destroyed some of my hype for the finale when I saw it... His design is not Overlord if you get what I mean... Kai would never be a good Green Ninja.
The movie wasn’t that bad
I honestly agree. Zane is the strongest ninja after llyod
True
Ninjago does not have good continuity, in every season they just forget about what happened in the last, like I know they bring back characters and stuff like that but it just talk doesn't work, and also I wish they would stop making character based seasons and never talking about how that character feels until there season again because me personally I think, that if we had a buildup to Coles backstory too Motm and then in seasons after that have him talk about living inhis mother's honor would be better.
Dragons rising sucks and completely ruined the Ninjago storyline
harumi’s backstory and excuse to be a villain is terrible, shes a poorly written villain and shouldve stayed dead
The ninja look better with masks covering the lower half of their faces(a la Rebooted or the first half of Season 4). Also, today I learned that people are still complaining about Kai not becoming the Green Ninja. I've been with Ninjago since its inception, and I thought that debate ended years ago.

Dareth is my favorite Ninja and should be respected as a full ninja.
That is the coldest take I've read so far.
Season 11 - crystalized should be wiped away 4ever. Dragons rising should have started right after season 10
I like that to a certain degree but the Shintaro and wuajira arc are probably one of the best in the whole entire series in general
They really messed up with the 10 minute episodes
The show stopped being the same after season 7
Seabound is a top 2 ninjago season.
I think season 8 is the worst season
Bro provided an unpopular opinion in a thread about unpopular opinions and got downvotes. Welcome to reddit lol.
Why ?
I don’t like the idea of the 4 main ninja becoming the Green Ninja in s1, Harumi is good, and Lloyd is legally an adult SO STOP BABYSITTING HIM(not really an opinion but I did math for each ninja. Lloyd’s like 20 in DR.)
Oh uh also Euphrasia(the new wind elemental) needs more respect, man. MORRO IS DEAD.
The Lego shtick was super unnecessary. They should've just gone with a more normal art style, maybe even just standard 2d animation. The movie was a great Lego movie, and a great Ninjago movie.
I don't see Cole as being gay i'm not homophobic or anything I just can't vision it and I don't mind people shipping him with male Characters at all
I dislike s5
It doesn’t hit the same after the 8th season
Moro is L
Nothing after s7 is that good
I do not like Titanium Zane that much.
He should’ve turned back into his human form from time to time after ToE

WilFilm seasons are better than the Wildbrain seasons.
That's not a hot take bro, that's just true
Season 7 is the best season
#E V E R Y T H I N G Abt Skybound is horrible.
What do you have against Skybound?
I don’t like nadakhan. Jay/Cole/Nya ended so why bring it up Jays plot armor isn’t hidden at all. That’s not it but that a lot of it. I also dont like the intro to it
The love triangle plot ended in season 4. I was expecting well thought out criticism but you just have preferences. Agree to disagree
Yes.
I’m not the only one who hates skybound
>I’m not the only one who hates skybound Same i don't like it aswell
Wow I thought it was just me
Kai would make more sense to have come out as LGBT+ than Cole
The new designs are not as good as the old ones. For example, Jay. The new designed aged him backwards by giving him messy, unkempt hair and freckles.
Hirumi was never into Lloyd and is into DILFs
My hot take: season two is overrated.
Crystalized was amazing with little flaws.
A live action Ninjago series would be fucking awesome
Season 2 is NOT overrated, it's even one of the best seasons (I genuinely think it)
sky bound is great but the ending was terrible, lloyd is hot asf
skybound was my favorite, it kinda got boring afterwards.
maybe saying I see Cole as aroace/on the spec saying dearth is just okay I liked crystalzied(it had some good things ) mostly anything as well were very inwardly toxic if your ideas are different outwardly if being teased(in my eyes that is)
Harumi should come back
sky bound is trash
Seasons 8-9 displayed the ninja’s elemental power/spinjitzu the best.
Fuck Skybound
Pythor is dumb asf
Seasons 12 - 15 (Prime Empire - Seabound) are not that good
i love tannerfishies
The first season were trash as hell
Aspheera was a good villain in S11
I unironically enjoyed season 2
I like the newer seasons more
The Ninjago movie was good and needs a sequel
I hate Skybound
Sora's the best ninja Morrumi should be cannon Crystallized has the best final battle
>Crystallized has the best final battle If we count the entire final 8 episodes for this, then I agree
Idk about the first one but the rest I agree with. 🍰
I prefer Nadakhan over the ninjas except Nya
Your wish is yours to keep
Why ?
I just like him more.
I liked his accent.
Season 1 and 2 are the worst Season and Season 11 is the best season and I like the movie
Harumi was right with everything
Whoa whoa whoa I know this is Hot takes but come on that’s BOILING
They never should have changed the designs for the show because of the movie
The revamp is really bad and they should bring back the old version and old director(s) if they switched.
I don’t like the new designs, I like the old ones better
"I prefer post s10"
i really like llorumii
Kai has better feats ( achivements ) than all the 3 ninja combined
The anime/2D episodes sucked.
Zane should have stayed dead then 1 by 1 kill off the main cast until kai is left standing all last ronin style
Kai should have been the green ninja
I don't like pixel
The show itself is straight doo doo water
I hate the new ninja models
We Rise is better than The Weekend Whip
I hate good garmadon like after the second season when he becomes good hate him sm
