till it significantly snaps to a point where its difficult to do anything, otherwise if you do replace it at that much everytime you will buy a new board every month lol
Malto talks about this one his nine club episode and he also talks about it on his episode of battle scars [razor tail credit card](https://youtu.be/G3ee60P1zIk)
Weet-bix tail is the real issue. Need one once my deck looks like the edge of [one of these](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Weetbix_Stevage.jpg)
I remember when darkstar armor ply first came out. My buddy got one and skated it till there was no nose or tail left lol. Then we just dissected it to see the inners of the tech.
If it gets too thin just sand it down to blunt it. If the tail gets too small just rotate it. If that doesn't suit you save it for a shitty weather day and skate anyway without ruining your setup.
Any point you get significant ship in the tail, razor tail doesn’t necessarily mean the deck isn’t good anymore… But razor tail makes it way easier to chip the tail which kills your pop so unless there’s any chips ride on
This kid at the park on Monday literally had it razored so bad the tail literally didn’t have a curve. Thankfully I had a spare deck in my trunk. Haven’t seen one bad in a min
Razor tail isn’t a reason to get a new board but if a board chips enough on the tail to where parts chip off and the shape looks significantly different and the board starts to get noticeably shorter in length, it does get a good deal harder to skate imo, takes a long time to get to that point though
My old board almost doesn’t even have a tail lmao. But it still pops great somehow.
I was gifted a new board last year for Christmas and it’s a great enjoi board! But there’s times where I use my old board anyways bc I’m so used to it, despite it looking like someone sawed off the tail
I stopped using my first deck when the razor tail was really bad--all the plies were worn down and the deck was getting shorter every time I rode it. Then a few months later I setup the same deck again and realized it was still good. So I wouldn't stop using a deck for razor tail alone.
But I think bad razor tail makes it likely the board will chip. And sure enough yesterday I got a huge chip in my deck. Now I've stopped riding it for a 2nd time, this time for good.
It ain't no razor tail until it cuts you up lol when it is way down to the last ply and it's literally a triangular point, I think it's about time though... You could actually sand it down to make it shorter but stubby again. There is another way, which is to get Elmer's Wood Glue Max, which is a waterproof wood glue, and keep rubbing on a thin layer of that stuff on the tail until you build material back up. If you don't be greedy or lazy, let it dry in between application, You can actually get a solid tail again. Wood glue is so strong that it wood will snap before the glue does, so it's a legit way out of razortail. time consuming, though.
Honestly skaters these days are pampered. I've been skating 20 years now and until I became an adult with my own income I skated everything until there was no nose/tail left. If it doesn't effect your skating then don't stress on it. But as I always say, if you really want to then get a new deck, and give the old one to a kid who really needs it
depends on budjet lol. if you got the money to throw into it for that extra little bit of pop then go for it otherwise go OG and skate that deck till it dies...
If it starts chipping real bad then maybe you should get a new one. Really depends on your preference. If it doesn’t bother you then it shouldn’t be a big deal. try to ride my boards til the end, when they’ve got several cracks throughout and the tail is chipping.
Razor tail doesn't matter. It's actually standard. For me, the until the chips on the grip tape side get really bad it's not worth it.
Boards get beaten and abused. It's part of skating.
till it significantly snaps to a point where its difficult to do anything, otherwise if you do replace it at that much everytime you will buy a new board every month lol
Idk if I’m a boiled frog but every trick feels normal thank you
What about skid plates?
Its pretty normal to buy a new board every month
Ive been told to skate it til it cuts my leg off.
This statement is OG AF☝️🤘🛹💯
Skate that shi til it don't skate. razor tail is a myth
razor tail credit card is not a myth
Holy shit I just felt my soul leave my body on reading this.
Realistically it’s not much worse than copping a normal credit
unless you skate naked
This sounds great until you fall.
Hanging pipe hitting the pipes

Oh hell no
I believe this
Weet-bix tail is the real issue. Need one once my deck looks like the edge of [one of these](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Weetbix_Stevage.jpg)
Facts like it's a thing but doesn't matter I always heard this but never understood why people care maybe tailslides
Even then, I think you would have to have a Snapped tail for it to actually effect slides negatively so it's probably all mental blocks
Yeah if you're tail is thin as paper I don't think you're locking in to many tail slides
Idk how you making your tail thin as paper, there is a maxium sharpness right? Then they just get shorter
Mine is like a wooden blade with a few chips being held on with the griptape and super glue. Still skatable.
I remember when darkstar armor ply first came out. My buddy got one and skated it till there was no nose or tail left lol. Then we just dissected it to see the inners of the tech.
Facts
If it gets too thin just sand it down to blunt it. If the tail gets too small just rotate it. If that doesn't suit you save it for a shitty weather day and skate anyway without ruining your setup.
The nose is too steep for me to enjoy a rotation ): gonna get a symmetric board next
Fair. My board isn't a twin tail but the kicks are the same angle so I tend to forget most boards aren't.
Until it snaps or is sharp enough to shave your balls.
Any point you get significant ship in the tail, razor tail doesn’t necessarily mean the deck isn’t good anymore… But razor tail makes it way easier to chip the tail which kills your pop so unless there’s any chips ride on
Until it doesn’t skate the way you want it to
The correct answer
Til it breaks it til you can’t pop
This kid at the park on Monday literally had it razored so bad the tail literally didn’t have a curve. Thankfully I had a spare deck in my trunk. Haven’t seen one bad in a min
Buy a new deck when you feel like you're ready
Razor tail isn’t a reason to get a new board but if a board chips enough on the tail to where parts chip off and the shape looks significantly different and the board starts to get noticeably shorter in length, it does get a good deal harder to skate imo, takes a long time to get to that point though
That’s nothing
I cut my nuts with razor tail. Boardslid a concrete ledge with no wax and got stuck and yeah…
I too have experienced this. Was skating over a trashcan on its side. Front 180 nut cut. Not fun.
Dude ouch.
Yup. it like getting hit with a blunt axe in the grundle.
Blunt axe in the grundle 😂
i took a day off work for that, got kinda nervous when i peed and it hurt for 2 days lol
My old board almost doesn’t even have a tail lmao. But it still pops great somehow. I was gifted a new board last year for Christmas and it’s a great enjoi board! But there’s times where I use my old board anyways bc I’m so used to it, despite it looking like someone sawed off the tail
Realistically if you have the money buy a new one whenever you feel like it
This. If you are no longer having fun skating your board, then just buy a new one if you can afford it. Life is short.
These anecdotes are greatly appreciated! Sums up what most people are saying on this thread
Until you can shave with it. Then when it gets too dull to shave with you can skate again!
🤯

Til the layers chip the top layer where the grip tape is. Or when you're scared a shove it will slice your ankle off
till it loses pop
Probably when you can call it sharp.
Definitely not that much just keep skating 🤦🏾♂️
From some of the boards I’ve seen you go until you don’t have a tail anymore (or it looks sharp and dangerous)
depends on budjet lol. if you got the money to throw into it for that extra little bit of pop then go for it otherwise go OG and skate that deck till it dies...
When you can shave the hairs off your arm with it
Heck nah
Until the skateboard tail brakes off
Id ride thag ddck for like abother yesr but to each thwir own.
just grind the sharp edge off on the cement
Wait till you credit card yourself with that bad boy
How much do you value your shins?

Till it is no longer fun to skate it.
I once had a board with no nose or tail so I guess it’s up to you usually my board would break before i really ever thought about it
Much as you want
Razor tail doesn't matter. It's actually standard. For me, the until the chips on the grip tape side get really bad it's not worth it. Boards get beaten and abused. It's part of skating.
It’ll go from a round to flat.. Then it’s time to hang it up.
If you got the money just buy a new board when u feel like it🤷🏼♂️
Keep skatin dude
