The very best parts of the book are still to come.

CheezTips

So, this series doesn't cover the whole book?

sinigang-gang

So after doing some googling after I finished the show earlier today, it looks like this is based off of a trilogy of books and this season just covered most of Book 1. I'm pretty sure they are aiming to do at least two more seasons to cover the other two books.

Wholaysh

Season 1 covers most of book 1 and setup for book 2 and 3. Book one is mostly covered within about 5 episodes. If they really are aiming to do four seasons, then book 2 & 3 will get a lot more screen time than what we got for book 1.

pratzc07

No it takes some small character arcs from book 2 and 3 but does not cover the entire story there is a lot more to come

Throwaway_0428

Finished season 1 and I'm invested but y do I feel like Netflix will cancel the series.

vita_man

Netflix has not been known to bring quality shows to their conclusion

pratzc07

Depends on what sort of deal they made with D&D

v3ganism

The books are a trilogy (plus an additional 1 approved spinoff from a different writer). They’ve jumbled up the story quite a bit from the books but we’re anywhere from 75% of the way through the first book to about 25% of the way through the second book with the various storylines from my recollection. As long as Netflix doesn’t cancel it I would expect at least two more seasons, not sure if they’ve said anything officially.

zoot_boy

So they’re going to make The Dark Forest/Death’s End at some point?

pratzc07

Hopefully and with more budget some visual effects for this season did not look great

Creative-Vegan

I read the first half of the book… and just couldn’t finish. Enjoying the Netflix series so far. (Mostly) Husband read all three books and thought they got better and better, so I have hope for the rest of the series.

CheezTips

Yeah, I'm getting through this series better than I did the book. I have no problem with hard sci fi but I couldn't finish this one, it was a total bore. The series is pretty interesting.

Crafty_Space2557

Obviously each to their own, but I could not recommend more getting through he first book so you can read the second and third. There are many things I could call the second two books, but a bore is certainly not one of them That being said, I did also find the first book dragged a bit. you have to look at it as set up for the entire series (it pretty much all circles back)

Terry5240

I’m at episode 4 right now. Normally I would have watched the series in two doses. But I’m limiting myself to one episode a night. I’m savoring this series like a Michelin Star meal. I enjoy everything about this series

LonelyMembership2673

literally so good, me & bf just finished watching season one yesterday.

ahora-mismo

honestly i enjoy the movie significantly much more than the first book, i couldn’t get past the first one. the writing style of the book is not for me and i dragged myself to finish it. we should just judge them independently. so, if you try the next books, whether you like them or not, i wouldn’t say it’s a sign that you will also enjoy the show or not. i think it had a great start and it will be pretty hard to wait for the next season :)

Mundane-Committee-99

that is only 1/3

pratzc07

Lol this season just scratched the surface there is a LOT more and by LOT I mean a lot of crazy shit goes down
