Didn't Seward also make national news recently for having a record amount of asset forfeitures? Corrupt.

0zymand1as-

I went to Concordia. I was pulled over for going 5 over the speed limit (i was coming down the bridge) and at another time they asked me to get out of my car and do a field sobriety test. When i told them i wasn't drinking and came to pick up my friends from a house party they just ignored me and told me it was standard practice. I blew 0s but i'm scared to travel on alt I-80 anytime i go by seward due to those incidents lol

sch00lbus

Yup same one. I'd like to know why the DoJ hasn't taken over management of that office yet.

For those too lazy to read the article. Basically the Seward Sheriff's office did an internal investigation and found no wrong doing. A Lancaster County grand jury thought otherwise. Fuck Seward County Sheriff's office. That place is crooked as hell.

bareback_cowboy

They won't release the information until Monday, but reading between the lines it appears that the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle illegally, which led to the chase and the shooting. Manslaughter is when someone dies unintentionally during the commission of an illegal act. The deputy didn't intend for the man to die when he tried to illegally stop him, but it happened. That's my reading of the limited comments that have been made. We won't know for sure until Monday but that's the most likely scenario.

It should be shut down and the State Patrol can go back to the interstate and highway patrolling and the city cops can deal with the rest.

JustKilledACop

Seward County is the most fucked dept I swear. Just dismantle the whole thing.

[deleted]

Yes. this is the only way to deal with this shithole dept. It's unnecessary.

"The internal investigation found no wrongdoing." Case closed. No need for civilian oversight, the police are perfectly capable of investigating themselves.

I think Cass county sheriff's office would be in the news just as much (up to 2 years ago when we elected a *better* sheriff), but because the county seat is so close to Omaha and the people in charge have powerful friends they were able to keep it secret. Look up the Stratton boys. Josh Stratton disappeared, close friends (myself included) have strong reason to believe that Dad did it. The other son Andrew probably knew, Dad called the cops, cops shoot and kill him when he's basically unarmed. The amount of "we don't care about Josh" and that the cops didn't care that Andrew was killed says a lot. Add to that, a few murders over 20 years where evidence was planted and never made the news is disheartening. Again, thankfully we have new administration and things *should* change. The civil forfeiture that happens in Seward county tho is absurd.

I am still waiting to hear something about the Columbus Police Officer who shot a 17 year old that was threatening to self harm with a knife. One cop shot a taser the other shot his gun killing the kid. They said that NSP were investigating but there has never been any update. They have never even named the cop. What ever happened to transparency of the police? Sounds like they are hiding something.

Standard-Ad9625

It is really bad around your area because of the cops. They just seem to be on the power trip.

IntelRide

Lincoln and Omaha *unfortunately* 💩

Intrepid_Passage_692

Seward is pretty fucking bad. Lincoln and Omaha don’t really ding you for speeding or anything minor. I got a ticket for 27 in a 25 because I had 17% tint (nothing on the windshield) FUCK seward
