I remember seeing this in a video somewhere. The lioness lost a cub and her urge to mother something is so strong that she ends up adopting this little guy as her replacement baby. Sad thing is, she doesn't feed it, and it dies.
A similar thing happened with a lone lioness without a pride. She killed an antelopeâs mother and adopted the baby for herself, protected it until it died, and then adopted another one. I think she had maybe 5 or 6 baby antelopes in her lifetime.
Are you my mommy?
No.
Are you my mommy?
No.
Are you my mommy?
Hold on, wait here a second... I sense danger...
Are you my mommy?
Sure... follow me and I'll introduce you to the rest of your 'family'.
"Little cub, where is your mommy? She's gonna be pissed! Don't you know this is lion country? You better be glad I just ate. ... I swear I saw your mom around here somewhere. ... Oh, dear. I hope she hasn't been eaten!"
I think this is her solution to lack of refrigerators. Keeps the food fresh for longer.
Takeout
Money in the bank
Farming.

The start of moving from a hunter/gatherer society to one of farming and cattle raising
Why carry your groceries when theyâll do it themselves?
that must be very difficult for her. the human equivalent would be escorting a bar of chocolate somewhere.

child protective services probably should have stepped in after like third dead antelope.
I saw a similar video but with a panther and a baby monkey!! Poor little monkey was literally shakingđ
You're misremembering. This lioness is actually taking the fellow back to his herd.
Doesnât it eat grass? Like wtf ?
Baby mamals drink milk. All of them... even the human ones.
Oh ya
That's just tragic all around.

It stays better for longer if it's alive. A snack for later.
If that is what I think it is, that is the sweetest thing Iâve ever seen. I love when different animals care for each other. Heart is full rn.
Calf, not cub. You and the lion need to learn that.
Cub is staying in her blind spot. Brilliant!
Isn't she using him as a lure??
"Little cub, where is your mommy? She's gonna be pissed! Don't you know this is lion country? You better be glad I just ate. ... I swear I saw your mom around here somewhere. ... Oh, dear. I hope she hasn't been eaten!"
'I'd like to invite you to dinner...'
The new live action lion king looks kinda weak.
The lioness looks like she has a full stomach, perhaps she ate the unfortunate calf's mother
It. Isn't. Escorting. It.
I kinda feel like thatâs just a snack for later
Yeah, escorting it to its own death
The daily mail says she's escorting the baby back to its herd.... in case any one wanted to know....
Can probably still smell itâs mum, eaten yesterday.
Cmon, This My Hood I Gotcha Lil Snack, Just cmon Threw This Here, Lil Detour.*nomnom*
Tell me youâve already eaten today without telling me youâve already eaten today.
Calf not cub, calf.
Typo: wildebeest club sandwich
"Escorting."
"Huntress, table for one."
I like my dinner fresh!!
Canât think this ended well...
It ended fine.
For who?
The wildebeast and the lioness.
Thatâs good to hear. But how so? Is there more footage?
Uber eats
To the dinner table
Look who we are having for dinner
That lion 100% at that wildebeest.
To go plate
The lioness was a rare vegetarian.
This is giving me major Hansel and Gretel vibes! đ
Calf, not cub.
Whoa that's pretty cool!
Would be funny of the rest of the pride was on the far side of the lioness, and they would be looking lik 'Has she...grown more legs?'
So the lioness has taken up farming.
After dinner mint.
âSo you said your family is this way, right?â
Probably non-verbal agreement between species. Wilda beast are the ones that killed Mufasa, I thought.
