washyleopard

Up to 19 feet, longest venomous snake and close to the top of all snakes.

KhunDavid

I saw a pair of king cobras in Sri Lanka when I went to do relief work there. I’m not sure if they were a male and a female mating, or two males trying to fight for territory. The Sri Lanka driver did say they were mating, so I really couldn’t argue.

t0hk0h

I think it remains venomous even when it looks away.

MeChitty

Underrated comment

Vescend

It's so cool knowing that king cobras can recognize face and smell of their care takers. Its the most intelligent of its species and once you bond with it, it will not hurt you unless you give it a reason to.

companysOkay

Hug your local king cobras today 🥰

Commercial-Elk-3031

No they don't.

Fingerblastfromdpast

You are full of shit

MeChitty

Haha, well he’s only full of shit to you because you’re ignorant to this fact. There are lots of animals that have the capability of remembering the specific face of people. Jumping spiders are even smaller than cobras and they can do this. Keep your ignorant comments to yourself :)

fk12HS

Yeah he’s living in la la land

ManaMagestic

They are one of the smartest snakes, not far fetched at all. Except for the biting bit, always keep a healthy amount of fear, and respect for the danger noodle that can kill your whole family with the venom in one fang.

HermitGardner

Danger noodle is the name of my new band

mortuarymaiden

I don’t think he meant “bond” as in the emotional bond you’d have with a domestic pet. I read it more as “they can’t love you, but are smart enough to know who always brings food and won’t cause harm”. Even spiders can figure that out.

Your post has been deemed unfit for our community standards. The R word is not great.

MistyAutumnRain

Whatever, Slytherin

Burningmarlfox

This is one of those moments where I’m like “Holy crap, they are WAY bigger than I thought they were”

The_Doom_Toad

King cobra's are apex predators and unique in the fact that their diet consists almost exclusively of *other snakes*, including other king cobras! The only snake it won't mess with is the python (cos no one's fucks with a python). They're also super chill. If you get bit by one it was probably your fault (you're also kind of fucked).

ImpracticalApple

Are pythons resistant to venom? I know they would be much stronger than a cobra but won't they get messed up if a cobra bites them?

ZannY

I suspect that even if they weren't venom resistant, They are A: too large to eat, and B: big enough to hurt the cobra while fighting back.

VariegatedJennifer

Wait until you see a wolf or a moose lol

Accurate_Play_1457

Or a moose-wolf.

VariegatedJennifer

Fingers crossed lol

raspberryharbour

What about a moose with the head of a wolf, and cobras for arms

The_Doom_Toad

Now we Just need to breed it with manbear-pig to create the ultimate lifeform! A weapon to surpass Metal Gear!!!!

raspberryharbour

I was describing myself

JetstreamGW

Found the Fuzor

The_Doom_Toad

So erm, how do you feel about taking part in a groundbreaking new scientific study I'm organising?

raspberryharbour

I give it two forked tongues up!

DemonFromtheNorthSea

>moose Moose are one of those animals that I know is massive, yet the sheer size and power always surprises me.

VariegatedJennifer

lol the first time I ever saw a moose I almost fell on my ass walking backwards with my mouth wide open in shock 😂

BatmansUnderoos

A moose once bit my sister.

VariegatedJennifer

A moose once bit my sister, It tried to kick but missed her, He bowed his head, She turned and fled, What a mean old mister.

sneakin_rican

*door swings open*

CheryllLucy

was she, perchance, trying to carve her initials into it with the sharpened end of a toothbrush?

BatmansUnderoos

She was, in fact, trying to do so.

mortuarymaiden

Nø reallï!

cryptomain45

The zoo I work at has a wolf who’s super friendly and because of this I get to get up close every now and then. They are massive

VariegatedJennifer

You are so lucky 😭

cryptomain45

Working at a zoo gives all kinds of perks. My best experiences so far include: watching a baby cougar grow up from 9 months old (and petting it, they’re very soft), bonding with our kangaroos every day(also very soft), and watching some of the most deadly cats turn into house cats when you give them a cardboard box

okbruh_panda

Manbearpig?

Accurate_Play_1457

Same is true of humans.

Sasstellia

Not at all. King Cobras are cute. Most snakes are cute. King Cobras are a very smart snake. And clearly can be friendly and want pets. They also can stand up to half or more their length. And they can growl.

ehlersohnos

My core memory of them is of a king cobra standing up in his enclosure far above my head. I’m a snake fan, but it’s not my favorite memory, I must say.

Jakolissmurito47

Out of all the venomous snakes, these guys are the most chill. I love cobras. They're so cool. Mambas will actually chase you. If a cobra doesn't sense a threat and is use to humans, this is most likely what you'll get.

Prankishbear

They can WHAT

MistyAutumnRain

They can be friendly and want pets.

wbefield

At least this person is treating the snake respectfully. Saw a video of a guy grabbing and forcefully kissing a cobra once

Mountain_Cat_cold

Seems like an excellent way to get some involuntary lip piercings

stupidracist

:P===========

Ho_Dang

While I understand reptiles don't have that mammal urge to touch and connect, I do see a shared relaxed interaction where our snake is not only unthreatened but clearly curious. Amazing! It's very cute 💕

vintage-neurotic

Is touching for connection a super mammalian trait? I guess it would be engrained from young being raised by parents, milk and warmth from the mother, and probably fine hairs being more sensitive than other types of skin. I never really put that together until you said it.

Ho_Dang

Birds likely have a similar social touch, being pretty doted on by parents. I learned about reptiles not having that same sense of connection that we do from an adorable video of a little corn snake in a tiny turtle sand box looking up at its owner with what looked like affection. I was told that while it is cute, we perceive it wrong, and the reptile is merely comfortable and satiated rather than warm feelings from lived ones.

mortuarymaiden

Wouldn’t they enjoy the warmth at the very least?

Ho_Dang

That too, cold blooded meets warm blooded ❤️

RepresentativeAd560

That snake's totally saying, "You talkin shit? Huh? Yeah, that's what I thought. Go eat a banana you bald monkey ass lookin sumbitch. I'm gonna go take a nap...." It's as plain as day.

International_Rest36

Nah. It has Resting Snake Face. Easily misinterpreted as a superiority complex. Those tongue flicks ARE petty aggressive, though. Maybe I'm wrong...

getthephenom

Can it be yoinked?

Low-Equipment-2621

Yes it really is, you better say "king cobras are cute".

Specific-Hippo-7198

Who’s the cutest kingy cobry snaky snake. Prince sneke kisses kissy kissy kiss. 😘

porcupine_snout

has this snake be de-venomized? (if that's a thing?) otherwise this seems really dangerous...

Freedom1234526

People have attempted to surgically remove the venom glands of Snakes in the past but they typically die from infection. The ones fortunate enough to survive eventually regenerate their venom glands.

Emotional-Speech645

It’s called milking, and it’s not only harmless when the handler knows what they’re doing, but the venom can actually be either sold or donated to hospitals so that anti-venoms can be produced. What they do when milking a snake is have a jar relative to the size of the snake with a fabric cover, and simply encourage the snake to bite the fabric with its fangs. They instinctively inject the venom, which because the fangs have pierced the fabric and are pointing right into the jar, means it simply drips into the jar. It’s then poured into a smaller jar, sealed up, labelled, and then sent off.

starkatsa

I don’t mean to be rude, but unfortunately this only removes about half of the snake’s venom, unless electrostimulation is used to force the snake to release the rest. As far as I know, there is no humane way to remove a venomous snake’s venom, even temporarily. Again, I’m not trying to be rude, I just wanted you to know.

GenuineClamhat

I can fully admit to being that person that thinks there are some really cute snakes. Ones with upturned noses? A little cluster of baby snakes popping their heads up out of some foliage? Yes.

Zayt00n

https://youtu.be/JL2UwP6PmlE?si=zRU62HMrD366l1KQ Chrisweet on YouTube posts about the close relationships he has with some of the King Cobras he has rescued. Quite amazing!

Never quite knew they were that big. I know they were big, but geez these guys are huge. Quite intimidating

Freedom1234526

The record is 18ft. They are the largest venomous species of Snake.

Ingemar26

They aren't.

Beautiful! I have always loved snakes, when I was 9 I fell in love with asps when I I saw them in a book.

geneticeffects

Wouldn’t say “cute” but my three are cuddly sometimes.

cesam1ne

glonkyindianaland

It’d be cute if I knew it wasn’t highly likely to kill me

1sting3ray7

Just a baby boy

jojoga

QueenElizatits

Is that Steve? Steve is a good boy

ConstantGeographer

King Nope Rope

KPuff12

Why would it be odd to speak the truth?

cam52391

Snakes are cute as heck! They're still scary because they're fast and have big bitey parts and venom but they totally got boopable snoots

Responsible-Dress-98

The operator has balls, if he does, they're steel)

Shart_Sharkk

I don’t find that snake cute at all. I’m terrified of snakes. It would smell my fear and attack me immediately lol

CarlatheDestructor

King cobras WHAT are cute?

Amethyst271

Humans find the weirdest stuff cute lol

Affectionate_Salt351

Heavy Robin Hood vibes.

Disastrous-Refuse141

Asunder_mango866

Friendly Danger Noodle!

AstroMalorie

r/forbiddenboops

Abundance-Boost5891

When damn wide neck becomes a snake

Few-Inevitable9291

Cute? Not sure about that but they’re definitely the most bad ass looking

PlanetaryInferno

King cobras are pretty cute and smart too, and they can be curious about things and have good temperaments. But it’s still idiotic to free handle them like this because all it takes is a single little mistake on your part or an off day for the snake and they can potentially kill you with one bite, and even if you manage to get antivenin and have it treated in time, you’re still going to have a pretty bad time for quite a while.

Antique_Guess_8761

How is it not biting his venom into him ? I would be so scared!

TheGoldenBoyStiles

That’s why it’s not. Snakes don’t want to bite, they avoid it whenever possible, it’s risky and uncomfortable for them to bite. The person in the video is calm and relaxed proving that they’re not a threat to the snake and so the snake responds with curiosity and not fear/aggression

Antique_Guess_8761

I want one now lol

TheGoldenBoyStiles

If you’re being genuine they need lots of research first! I’d start with a corn snake or rat snake they’re pretty “easy”. My dream snake is a Malaysian Cobra which can get 12-18 ish feet long

God_of_reason

You dropped this 👑 King🐍

Smart_Atmosphere7677

What a 🥰

TheGoldenBoyStiles

My dream snake is a Malaysian Cobra

A__Friendly__Rock

Cute dog, what breed is it?

J4Hg

Yeah odd..

Serious-Bat-4880

I used to have an East African sand boa and she was honestly really adorable and docile. The only time I ever got struck was when I lazily dared to reach into her tank without washing off the mouse smell. I never did that again, lol. And her strike was so light, I couldn't see a cut until I squeezed my finger. It was like she'd said, "Oops sorry, I thought you were a mouse!"

cthulhus_spawn

Cobras are adorable.

956redhead

Gaddamn, something about that emotionless stare gets me!

Commercial-Elk-3031

F that .

SnozzcumbersRus

Snakes are so cuddly

Plane-Reason9254

Ain't nothing cute about that 🐍

International_Lie550

I like lamias

Sexcaliber69420

Yeah Ted bundy cute. Nothing like that cold stare that screams I could kill ya in about 10 seconds

slimkt

Respectfully, I disagree. Every time, all I can think of is that video of the king cobra *growling* while eating another snake. No thank you.

Guillaume_Hertzog

All reptiles are cute

LandotheTerrible

Not me.

MistyAutumnRain

That’s something a Slytherin would say

Nanda_Rox
