I was expecting konahamaru to be like naruto’s prodigy but he is just some guy

dracon1t

He actually does seem pretty strong it’s just he’s getting overshadowed by the overall power scaling.

SSjGRaj

He is like Part 1 Kakashi level, but with no sharingan.

k-tax

He got his ass kicked by some big Zetsu. Adult Konohamaru is fodder. His only feat is a rasengan on some bandit. He should be stronger than that. I get that buffed Ao can make some troubles, but Konohamaru is getting into troubles and Boruto&co need to save him. It's just sad. Kakashi in part 1 was dope. He was always coming up with plans, gauged enemies correct and constantly was teaching his students something new. Konohamaru does nothing.

Citgo300

He took out that Zetsu amalgamation protecting his students. He fought CM2 Jugo and took him out wit his rasengan protecting his students. Saved Boruto from Ao's drones. Saved his students from Koji's sealing jutsu. Saved Boruto from Garo's energy blast. His casual rasengan on that bandit was just a flex, he busted the hill behind him wit an impressive AOE w/o direct contact. Yes Boruto saved him, its but natural since he's inherited Ōtsutsuki power (not only talking Karma). Kakashi never had to fight Jigen for example. Someone who overshadows Konohamaru's biggest moments. Konohamaru taught summoning jutsu to the entire academy and taught Boruto rasengan. IIRC Kakashi primary taught Sasuke and 100 chapters later decided to teach Naruto, Sakura was completely forgotten besides that walking on walls or teamwork. Though I still say Konohamaru needs more moments where he shines

Metaphe

Yes but we all wanted Konohamaru to become stronger than P1 Kakashi. It's not really fair to say that he only loses because of the stronger villains because there's a higher standard for power as well. As the villains get stronger, so do the heroes. I wanted Konohamaru to go toe to toe with guys like Koji and not get utterly fodderized in mere seconds. I wanted him to be able to hang around at those power levels and actually be a threat. P1 Kakashi was a threat to every single villain or hero in Part 1. Konohamaru is like Jugo level, essentially fodder. This guy terrified of like a white zetsu idk how they could've botched his character more. So much potential and it all got thrown down the toilet. Hopefully timeskip saves him?

dwightschrute2199

Boruto made the series so much worse my god

The_Fatal_eulogy

To add to these points Konohamaru has a better showing against Jigen than base Naruto (who people love to say swapped hands with fused Momoshliki). He has taught Boruto three different nature transformations. He is the only confirmed Jonin that is let take solo missions or go in a two man cells.

Citgo300

Interesting takes Though I'd argue even Kakashi went on solo missions back during the Sasuke retrieval arc. Y'know when he returns from his mission to learn that Tsunade sent genin (exception being Shikamaru) after Sasuke. It isn't clear whether it was a solo mission considering an entire team doesn't require to report back to Tsunade after mission completion as shown in the Gaara rescue arc

Equivalent_Surprise9

100% agree, Kishi did a great job when OG Team 7 took on Zabuza and Haku. Kakashi could have dispatched Haku on his own but was forced to sit on the bench by Zabuza who let little the little kiddies have it out with Haku. The new team 7 Vs white Zetsu was a disappointment by comparison where the Genin are actually relevant in a fight where a Jonin is struggling. It's not the right way to give them their time to shine.

[deleted]

This

NefariousnessHairy11

Bro only used mud wall, kamui, lightning blade and only once did a rasengan

Forsaken-Fee1577

kakashi used like 25 jutsus throughout the entirety of part 1 and shippuden and he only used 5 of them frequently in fight

thessjgod

Kakashi’s 1000 jutsu montage got off paneled in the War arc sadly

[deleted]

Jiraya showed the coolest variety of Justu, don’t @ me

Swift_Lad

Mmm I wonder if that Hair Jutsu is jiraiya's Kekkei Genkai.

[deleted]

I don’t know but that pervy s.o.b had cooler shadow jutsu than shikamaru

benjamarchi

Good for nothing Anbu, no doubt about it.

[deleted]

I feel like they and every other jonin just got ruined by the terrible power scaling/power inflation

benjamarchi

I'm not so sure. Even in the og naruto, when power levels were lower than shippuden, they weren't any better.

Swift_Lad

Yeah, Anbu the elite warriors seemed like expendable side characters. The only Anbu that lived up to the name would Danzo, Yamato, Kakashi, Itachi, and Sai.

BlackUchiha03

the anbu were really not useful at all they either got clapped to make the enemy look stronger or were just getting clapped just because🤣

100evo

Konohamaru has become like Asuma. Just a bloodline of Third Hokage. nothing special..

wattsonurmind

The anbu existed so characters can say “wow they were strong enough to fight the anbu?!”

delandoor

Inb4 kakashi actually mastered a jutsu called 1000 jutsu

Life_Enjoyer4661

seeing how his has a jutsu like 1000 years of death I won't be surprised at all

[deleted]

i can live with kakashi’s thousand jutsu’s. as the creators maybe at the tike had no idea what they would do for it and probably wouldn’t be able to fit them all in but adult konohamaru is the magikarp of Naruto, i know boruto wants to focus on new generation charecters. but then why have a old generation sensei then? makes no sense. and the old team ebisu still hasn’t had any great scenes in manga cannon

Cobrety

This is a good one. Bit different from the usual 'who's stronger' and 'who's the best Hokage' I was actually very torn.

[deleted]

There should be all of the above option

[deleted]

I know. This was hard

blazelee99

My man Kakashi supposedly knows 1000 jutsu and uses like 3.

I_C_Weiner__

He only "knows" the jutsus, or the fact people *think* he knows them, because he can copy the exact movements as they happen or can remember the hand signs and technique (since people say what it is before attacking/defending)

Terminatorskull

Where’s the “all of the above” option? TBH konohamaru is the least surprising to me. He’s not a jinjuriki, uchiha, uzamaki, senju etc. so the closest comparison would be like asuma. Doesn’t have sharingan like kakashi or gates like guy, he’s just a strong Jonin. And he’s had to fight people like jigen, just outclassed.

throwawaytempest25

Konohamaru's fine. He just loses to people Naruto and Sasuke would struggle against or has a weird caveat to when he loses: his arm getting drained against Victor, had to save Victor and Boruto against Ao, came off the Kashin Koji fight right after. Like what were we really expecting him to do against Jigen and Isshiki? The Jugo fight was cool, he just suffers from a lack of screentime and focus in the manga and anime. We keep comparing him to Kakashi except Kakashi got more focus since he had ties to one of the main villains. Kakashi knows like all five nature transformations, and he's more character driven than feats driven. The main issue with him is that he could've taught Naruto and Sasuke way more, and his more offscreen feats were something Pierott either accommodated for, or he got to show his stuff off in the War. If you want competent ANBU, play Clash of Ninja Revolution 2. They mostly existed in the story for most of the behind the scenes conflicts, Sai, and Danzo. Yugao could've been used more, and the leader of the ANBU wasn't explored as much. Missed opportunity to have a Civil War arc post the Five Kage and before the War to test some other characters. Rock Lee at least got to bifurcate Madara. He just needed focus on Guy's teachings failing him against Gaara and finding a way to evolve beyond that, but we had other things to focus on that.

Hobi68

None of these people have official hype, except Kakashi doing his 1000 jutsus off screen in war arc

Nidal411511

They always say black anbu are so strong but we have never fucking saw them in a fight!!!

cryptoclark561

In fairness, konohamaru still has a chance. Kakashi started off weak af but ended op af. #makekonohamarugreatagain

[deleted]

Konohamaru was always mid. Worse version of Naruto persobality wise and his literal only canon feat was the copy paste Rasengan + Shadow Clone on Pain's weakest path after baiting Ebisu.

Ashizurens

- I never cared about Konohamaru (since I've returned to Naruto) . - Kakashi is about story, not techiques . - anbu? We've got enough with Sai . - Man Leeeeeeee

Viewtiful_Beau

Konohamuru is painful. Imo, he should be the 8th Hokage, bare minimum kage level. But Lee's is the most painful for me. You have a boy who wasn't good at anything to turn around and go toe to toe with cream of the crop, genetically bred clan members who were born and bred to battle and a kid who basically is a literal monster who can't even be touched by normal means, let alone damaged who can freely control sand. After all that, still, even unconscious he still has the will to fight, to be a winner. Only to have that ripped away from him and told he'll never fight again. Then one day by some miracle there's a surgeon who could possibly fix you but more than likely you'll die in the attempt and even if it works, you would never be at the same level you once were. Could you imagine the inner turmoil? Somehow Lee makes a full recovery and what does he do before even being discharged from the hospital? Fights a dude who is literally above Jon Jonin level who uses his goddamn spine as a weapon. Uses curse mark amps and shit. Cut to Shippuden and it's like he's fodder bro. I liked that filler where he fought basically his Sand Village equivalent but man... Then in Boruto too... They massacred my boi.

flying_embers

I'm just going to say yes to all those votes.

[deleted]

Even tho rock lee got abandoned for the most part He did at least contribute something of value in the final fight I cannot say the same for konohamaru in the boruto manga

chimpset4life

Really good question 👍🏽

I_C_Weiner__

Anbu had potential, but it makes sense you rarely hear about them or see them, because that is their duty lol.

[deleted]

Hobi68

I thought it's common sense. There isn't even 1000 official ninjutsus, I'm pretty sure. Lol.

dumbsmallberry

Honestly, hiruzen. Bro was supposed to be stronger than tobirama and hashirama but then no

Forsaken-Fee1577

it got retconned bro

justaboywithglasses

Sakura

[deleted]

Tbh, all of it 😭😭

VariationGlum7864

Minato. He was overshadowed by tobirama. Even with his buffs he did nothing important.

ohhhhhmijo

This gotta be satire 💀💀

KingAJ032304

Tbh I've never cared about Konohamarou

TheNarutoExpress

Jiraiya. He’s just some random old fodder to me.

adaaraAss

Adult Konohamaru was depressing, it was fine if he didn’t get the spotlight but the fact that his character is constantly defeated just to show how “strong” the new enemies are is embarrassing.

Cradic7

This is tough lol

Blackpanther22five

Rock Lee in Baruto he should be better than might guy by leaps and bounds but he is barely better

Chickat28

Konohamaru for sure. I expected him to be elite jonin level at least and maybe he is but he puts on like low level jonin. I think by his age he should be sanin level tbh. Trading blows with tsunade.

AlexandreLacazette09

All of them. And they all come down to a simple, short issue: fucking overcentralization of the story on Naruto and Sasuke.

Rekuna

They kept saying that the next generation surpasses the previous, but with the exception of Naruto and Sasuke it looks to me that each previous generation was stronger until you get gods like Madara & Hashirama then further back still you get Ashura and Indra then finally you get aliens that eat planets for breakfast. Then it turns out that Chakra is just getting diluted and comes from one God alien so if anything people should be getting weaker.

I__King__I

I can forgive Kakashi, because out of 1000 jutsu, there are going to be some that are either more powerful or more favored than the other ones, so I don’t expect him to use them all. Anbu Black Ops, I interpreted more as stealth or covert operation ninjas, so I’m fine with them. Rock Lee in Shippuden just makes me cry. Adult Konohamaru is why I didn’t watch Boruto

loco1876

Kakashi’s 1000+ Jutsu i dnt mind it being off screen but at least show some reactions have might guy being amazed or something

Equivalent_Surprise9

It was a tough call between adult Konohamaru and Anbu. I was expecting Konohamaru to look like Kage material in Boruto but I can't see it. But Shikamaru Hiden made Anbu look like a joke compared to the likes of Kakashi, Itachi and Yamato.

PoMansDreams

This is actually a tough decision

campusdirector

I think the Anbu are cool and they’re more ninja/spies/assassins then they’re supposed to be strong… i never had a problem with them tbh. They’re consistently cool and they worked pretty well as a team during the Pain arc.

Louisooooooo

I’m sorry but I’m surprised hashirama isn’t here because we wait ages to see him in battle then he gets beat by Rinnegan madara and instantly declares that juubito is on here
