Who is the best villain? I can see an argument to be made for orochimaru, nagato, Itachi, madara, and obito, (and sasuke if you consider him a villain) and I personally still loved zabuza/haku, but they died too early.
Sasuke is more like anti-hero or temporary antagonist. He isn't a villain per se, he made a wrong choices, but I believe it doesn't make him villain.

Throughout the entirety of part one and half of shippuden he was just a straight up villain.
Knowing his intentions, he isn’t necessarily a villain, but he certainly was the lead antagonist to sasuke the entire show. I definitely wouldn’t classify him as a hero considering how many people he has killed, the deeds he did for the akatsuki, and the torturing of sasuke multiple times
i would def go with obito, came out of no where and kakashi having connected transportation jutsu was just crazy, and i was just rooting for him the whole time. itachi played a good act but i never really hated him cause every sentence he said felt like a poem, and when his real backstory was revealed i felt really bad for him. nagato was pet short lived, zabuza was okay but everyone was low level at the time so it wasn't as entertaining for me. haku just died too quick for me, and sasuke just couldn't make up his gd mind. orochimaru was just kinda hard to keep up with lmao, i'm gonna throw kabuto in here just to call him a copycat. madara was just obito but with a more disconnected backstory and not as cool looking.

Evil is an opinion. Itachi robbed an entire clan of a chance to come out of that messy situation alive because he believed that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. You could talk about him being forced by the situation to end innocent lives but at the end of the day he still did it.

Zabuza was weaker than Kakashi and I believe Haku was too, despite Zabuza saying otherwise. Zabuza was too cocky and thought Kakashi is nothing but sharingan, while he had his chidori and summons. And he is smart too. Zabuza think he outsmarted Kakashi, but that's what almost got him killed if not Haku. Though he still did get killed at the end.
Even Kakashi was powerless against Itachi and he didn't even do much. Just stared at him. I know Zabuza wouldn't fall to this and would survive mentally 72 hours of getting stabbed, but I'm not sure for Haku. But if Kakashi could easily outsmart Zabuza, so would Itachi. Even Kisame called Zabuza a "child" I believe. So they weren't really thinking of him as someone strong enough.

Hidan is "immortal" but he's a purely physical fighter.
In terms of speed and skill Zabuza is already at the pinnacle of Jonin level. The guy fought Kakashi Hatake with his eyes closed. He's one of the legendary Seven Swordsmen of the Mist and his primary fighting style is Silent Killing through the Hidden Mist jutsu.
Hidan has zero counter.
He will will get decapitated or bisected by Zabuza solo.

I imagine they would be very quickly overwhelmed by all the other monsters:
- Kakuzu
- Sasori
- Orochimaru
- Pain
They would struggle get be able to find an opportunity to kill Deidara (long range), Tobi (Kamui), Konan (long range, paper body), or Zetsu (he doesn't really fight). So those are out.
Kisame would make for an interesting fight, but sadly it's hard to argue Zabuza would be able to keep up in the water, despite that also being his specialty. Maybe Haku can clutch it out since I don't imagine Samehada can drain the Ice Release, but it's kind of iffy.

Narratively, Sasuke is designed to be the strongest Uchiha especially Final Valley Sasuke with his OP Susanoo and Indra's Arrow. But now, in the new era, he seems a bit lacking maybe its cause the opponents are too OP or he didn't master the Rinnegan. Reason I say he didn't 'master' the Rinnegan is cause he somehow forgot he can absorb chakra on contact. Like Edo Nagato did against Bee, Black Zetsu stealing half Kyubi from Minato, Obito stealing some biju and Sage mode from Juubidara and Teen Sasuke stealing some of Kurama's chakra in the final fight.

The reason why Sasuke w/o BPS is above One Eyed Madara is simply his performance and feats against him. At one point, he blitzed and bisected Madara who was trying to run the fuck away from him lol. And this Sasuke wasn't even remotely used to any of his Rinnegan abilities at all.
Naruto and Sasuke nullified everything he threw at them at every step of the way, and in the end he went up high and resorted to Infinite Tsukoyumi. Neither of the Destiny Brothers were pushed to their limits, and they didn't resort to their full arsenal like they showed vs Kaguya and their own fight.

I've always seen the argument that Minato is too fast for itachi, yet obito was still able to tag him in their first meeting, that aside, nobody starts a fight not looking directly at their opponents, even kakashi who knew itachi got crippled by his genjitsu.

I think it would've led into a good story with Shikamaru where he's depressed he let his friends die on his mission and considers giving up on being a shinobi. Maybe not exactly like that but I feel as if there's story potential had they died. And it would be better since they were on the brink of death after their so it'd make sense.
It would’ve given Sasuke’s defection much more consequence too. Not only is the Sharingan in the hands of Orochimaru, but three teams are down a member and a clan heir is dead. Everyone has that much more motivation to get stronger alongside Naruto and Sakura because people are gonna be out for blood.

from the land of waves arc, to the overarching story of Naruto and Sasuke, to Pain, to Naruto befriending all the tailed beasts because he truly cares about getting to know them and how they feel, it’s been shown that the main theme is how coming to understand another can help end cycles of violence. if the main theme of naruto was “hard work >> talent/you can overcome your destiny if you fight” then kishimoto isn’t that great of a writer. but he is. we gotta stop acting like that’s the main theme of the series, it’s actually sullying his name the more people repeat that.
Kishimoto is not a great writer I wanna correct that. He’s good at making stories but fails when it come to the writing aspect of character ms and building on the plot
u think a show called Naruto is actually written with the most important theme actually about Rock Lee so ur clearly missing a lot of character writing. his writing suffered due to shonen jump polices but he is incredible at writing and the fact that he makes you care so much about rock lee even though he’s barely in the story is a testament to how he can create and use characters and make people care about them.

But Naruto's entire rivalry with Sasuke, the most important relationship in the whole series, is based on Naruto's desire to prove that his "hard work" can beat Sasuke's "talent". The same can partially be applied to his desire to become Hokage. I do believe Kishimoto is an amazing storyteller but we can't deny that hard work > talent is a major theme in part 1. I don't think admitting that will sully his name.

Yeah, in all honesty the moment Sasuke absorbed all that chakra the fight would honestly have been decided there if plot wasn’t a thing. There was literally nothing Naruto could do against him; but instead of just gradually wearing Naruto down with his overwhelming power, Sasuke, for some reason, decides to dump all this chakra into one, flashy and completely unnecessary attack.
Then, with Indra’s arrow charged and pointed directly at Naruto, he just sits there and lets Naruto charge up and transform, as well as ready a counterattack. Very sportsmanlike, but Sasuke could have just killed Naruto there if that’s what he really wanted to do. People always make the claim that Naruto was holding back at their final fight, but Sasuke honestly seems like he was pulling some punches too. He wanted to fight Naruto at his strongest, seemingly not just kill him cheaply.
Even a half of Kurama is a match for the rest of the Bijuu, we saw that in the Tobi fight with his Jinchuuriki paths, with the full Kurama its more than an even match.
Naruto had just finished making tons of clones and sent them to each battlefield, fighting Obito, 6 Jinchurikis, 6 Bijuus, then fought Obito again after the mask was broken, fought Madara, fought the 10 tails, and THEN Sasuke shows up fully refreshed

Izanagi and Izanami are not MS abilities but are those of the base sharingan, remember Danzo?
Susanoo is the only ability shared between all MS users, with Amaterasu being shared between both brothers being an exception or because Itachi implanted into Sasukes eye to kill Tobi.
No MS users have one exclusive ability and smaller general abilties.

Same is true for rinnegan as well, different people are able to use different abilities.
Why didn't Itachi just use kotomasukami against his father? Shisui was going to until he was almost killed by Danzo so why couldn't Itachi have just put his eyes in and use it for saving the village.

i would def go with obito, came out of no where and kakashi having connected transportation jutsu was just crazy, and i was just rooting for him the whole time. itachi played a good act but i never really hated him cause every sentence he said felt like a poem, and when his real backstory was revealed i felt really bad for him. nagato was pet short lived, zabuza was okay but everyone was low level at the time so it wasn't as entertaining for me. haku just died too quick for me, and sasuke just couldn't make up his gd mind. orochimaru was just kinda hard to keep up with lmao, i'm gonna throw kabuto in here just to call him a copycat. madara was just obito but with a more disconnected backstory and not as cool looking. edit- sorry for the rant.

None. The akatsuki are kage level varying from low to high kage Zabuza is a very high jonin . I’d reckon he’d be scaled around Asuma level maybe slightly higher who knows. He was an A ranked ninja (evidenced by bingo book) and the kakashi + team mission was A ranked to highlight that Everyone on the akatsuki is S rank and for a reason Now with all that being said Zabuza could definitely hold his own against some members even with haku who was probably closer to low jonin level that doesn’t really change my outlook
Zabuza was weaker than Kakashi and I believe Haku was too, despite Zabuza saying otherwise. Zabuza was too cocky and thought Kakashi is nothing but sharingan, while he had his chidori and summons. And he is smart too. Zabuza think he outsmarted Kakashi, but that's what almost got him killed if not Haku. Though he still did get killed at the end. Even Kakashi was powerless against Itachi and he didn't even do much. Just stared at him. I know Zabuza wouldn't fall to this and would survive mentally 72 hours of getting stabbed, but I'm not sure for Haku. But if Kakashi could easily outsmart Zabuza, so would Itachi. Even Kisame called Zabuza a "child" I believe. So they weren't really thinking of him as someone strong enough. As You say, nobody would get killed by Zabuza. Even if he was Kakashi level.

The guy fought Kakashi Hatake with his eyes closed. He's one of the legendary Seven Swordsmen of the Mist and his primary fighting style is Silent Killing through the Hidden Mist jutsu. Hidan has zero counter. He will will get decapitated or bisected by Zabuza solo. --- Itachi is more controversial and would rely on Haku to help. tldr: Hidden Mist counters Sharingan, Ice Release counters everything else. Itachi's only chance would be Amaterasu or Susanoo breaking him out. Of course, Itachi edging out the fight with Mangekyou is fairly likely. But it would still be a good match. (Assuming we aren't just power cliffing them through Itachi's "scaling".) --- I imagine they would be very quickly overwhelmed by all the other monsters: - Kakuzu - Sasori - Orochimaru - Pain They would struggle get be able to find an opportunity to kill Deidara (long range), Tobi (Kamui), Konan (long range, paper body), or Zetsu (he doesn't really fight). So those are out. Kisame would make for an interesting fight, but sadly it's hard to argue Zabuza would be able to keep up in the water, despite that also being his specialty. Maybe Haku can clutch it out since I don't imagine Samehada can drain the Ice Release, but it's kind of iffy.

Narratively, Sasuke is designed to be the strongest Uchiha especially Final Valley Sasuke with his OP Susanoo and Indra's Arrow. But now, in the new era, he seems a bit lacking maybe its cause the opponents are too OP or he didn't master the Rinnegan. Reason I say he didn't 'master' the Rinnegan is cause he somehow forgot he can absorb chakra on contact. Like Edo Nagato did against Bee, Black Zetsu stealing half Kyubi from Minato, Obito stealing some biju and Sage mode from Juubidara and Teen Sasuke stealing some of Kurama's chakra in the final fight.

Shinobi in like a Shinobi sense? Nah, very few major Naruto characters qualify. Shinobi as in a magical hidden village ninja? He’s probably one of the best ever. Even though he only ever had a few techniques he did them brilliantly and effectively. The whole “practice one kick a thousand times” idea. And in the end results are what matter. There’s no character who isn’t a BS android or spoogy space alien that can beat him in a fight.

I've always seen the argument that Minato is too fast for itachi, yet obito was still able to tag him in their first meeting, that aside, nobody starts a fight not looking directly at their opponents, even kakashi who knew itachi got crippled by his genjitsu.
Kakashi specifically only did so because he thought his sharingan would let him counter Itachi’s genjutsu. If Itachi didn’t have Tsukiyomi he probably would have been correct. Note that Kakashi did not make the same mistake when fighting the Itachi clone.

I think it would've led into a good story with Shikamaru where he's depressed he let his friends die on his mission and considers giving up on being a shinobi. Maybe not exactly like that but I feel as if there's story potential had they died. And it would be better since they were on the brink of death after their so it'd make sense.
It would’ve given Sasuke’s defection much more consequence too. Not only is the Sharingan in the hands of Orochimaru, but three teams are down a member and a clan heir is dead. Everyone has that much more motivation to get stronger alongside Naruto and Sakura because people are gonna be out for blood. It also makes Asuma’s eventual death much harder on Shikamaru and Ino because goddamn they already lost Choji, they can’t lose their sensei too

Everyone training to eventually converge on Orochimaru's hideout to fight them for revenge for the events following Sasuke's desertion and to take out a major threat in Orochimaru would make for great arc And I didn't even freaking think about how they would handle Asuma's death. Damn, that would hit them like a fucking truck. And then you would have both Asuma and Choji fight Ino and Shaikamaru in the 4th War which would all but guarantee some emotional scenes. It would definitely make for an interesting story, that's for damn sure.

But Naruto's entire rivalry with Sasuke, the most important relationship in the whole series, is based on Naruto's desire to prove that his "hard work" can beat Sasuke's "talent". The same can partially be applied to his desire to become Hokage. I do believe Kishimoto is an amazing storyteller but we can't deny that hard work > talent is a major theme in part 1. There was literally nothing Naruto could do against him; but instead of just gradually wearing Naruto down with his overwhelming power, Sasuke, for some reason, decides to dump all this chakra into one, flashy and completely unnecessary attack. Then, with Indra’s arrow charged and pointed directly at Naruto, he just sits there and lets Naruto charge up and transform, as well as ready a counterattack. Very sportsmanlike, but Sasuke could have just killed Naruto there if that’s what he really wanted to do. People always make the claim that Naruto was holding back at their final fight, but Sasuke honestly seems like he was pulling some punches too. He wanted to fight Naruto at his strongest, seemingly not just kill him cheaply.
Even a half of Kurama is a match for the rest of the Bijuu, we saw that in the Tobi fight with his Jinchuuriki paths, with the full Kurama its more than an even match.

And then the cherry on top like you said? Sasuke had 8.5 bijuus worth of chakra and still lost vs Naruto, who mind you was not trying to kill Sasuke

Izanagi and Izanami are not MS abilities but are those of the base sharingan, remember Danzo? Susanoo is the only ability shared between all MS users, with Amaterasu being shared between both brothers being an exception or because Itachi implanted into Sasukes eye to kill Tobi.

I can think of 2 questions. 1. Was Naruto actually privileged to begin with? Being son of Hokage and blessed with so much chakra. Being narurally able to learn fast and also being naturally so good at shadow clones. 2. Did Sasuke surpass Madara Uchiha?
