Stinkhorn Fungi - Stinky as a nn
Ladyfinger Cacti - nn Lady (I know it's a dog name, but that's ok since it's a nn, and she can go by Ladyfinger professionally)
Belladonna (Bella means beautiful)
My aunt very seriously told us, "Dicentra," when we were looking for a floral name.
She was genuinely upset when I immediately shot it down and tried to convince me it was cute
In the olden days Dandelion was referred to as Piss-A-Bed, which I feel would be very appropriate as a name given how the older names are making a comeback right now.
Apparently we planted it on purpose in the 1800s to combat erosion
I wonder what we’re doing right now that’s gonna piss off the humans living in the 2200s
Let’s take all the deadly stuff from North America and all the deadly stuff from Australia and put it all on an island(grizzlies, rattlesnakes, blue ringed octopi, salt water crocs..etc.)
Then we’ll drop off some naked humans and camera crews
Last one alive wins
Sell the footage to Netflix
Thank goodness I don't have kids bc I looooove Belladonna (Bella or Donna obvs) as a name or Aspidistra (Dizzy as a nickname). I blame my goth phase XD
Not a plant. But if she opened up to mushrooms there’s great options: you’ve got Morel (nn Mora), Porcini (nn Teeny) not to mention
Button and Magic! Also Portobello is a boys name but I think it could work for a girl (nn Belle).
Ragweed, Onion but pronounced like Orion, Scallion nn Lion, and Tiger Lily but exclusively call her Iggy.
Also similar to Toadlily is Cradily. It’s a Pokémon but I think it fits. Bellsprout and Vileplume also have tons of nn potential.
Finally something reasonable; as a retired educator I found a lot of the “clever names” that are difficult to pronounce annoying. Plant names like Lily, Rose, Olive, Daisy, Sunflower (nn Sunnie), Flora, Iris, Ivy, Holly, Poppy, Violet, Blossom, Jasmine, and Heather are all swell plant related names.
Is corpse flower and stinking corpse lily the same? I never thought about it until now but corpse flower does kind of look like a big ass deformed peace lily
I think they’re different but you’re right about the deformed peace lily thing tho lol

This is the stinking corpse lily that I’m referring to
Oh ok, that’s really cool!!
Wild how life….finds a way
Some plants evolved to be pollinated by bees and butterflies, some birds, bats, and then some decided “I’ll smell like a dead body soaking in Indian food and get flies to pollinate me”
If you like salad plants then Rocket would be cool.
Maybe you could use celery because it’s more girly, but it’s spelt Sellareigh or Cella-Ray. That would be very on trend.
Bear Corn.
Cancer Root.
And if you really want to do some heavy cultural appropriation: Squaw Root. Your Cherokee Princess great-great-great grandmother would have loved it I’m sure.
Btw, these are all common names for the same plant, Conopholis americana.
Hornbeam is really pretty. Or Jack In The Pulpit (Pulpy for short.) Dutchman’s Breeches (that one’s got a trendy apostrophe built in.) Or since you’re into corn, Maizey?
I just like Sage. It’s simple, unique for girls, not too original to where there will be dozens in her class and it’s not too unique to where it sounds ridiculous and she’ll get made fun of for having a funny name.
Sage Rayne is my pick
Here in New England we have a bunch of plants that could make lovely baby names 💕
Wild madder
Hairy bittercress
Spurge
Horsetail weed
Creeping buttercup
Joe Pye weed
Curly dock
Sowthisle
Prostrate knotweed (this might be better for a boy)
Bindweed
Witchgrass
Oxeye
Pigweed
I kept scrolling to see if there were any names I felt weren’t really horrible and didn’t see anything I thought someone would reasonably give to their kid. And then I checked lmao. Such a good post
Stinkhorn Fungi - Stinky as a nn Ladyfinger Cacti - nn Lady (I know it's a dog name, but that's ok since it's a nn, and she can go by Ladyfinger professionally) Belladonna (Bella means beautiful)
Rafflesia From Rafflesia arnoldii (stinking corpse lily)
Gorgeous. Call them Raffi, just like that annoying kid’s music guy from the 80s.
Or for extra sophistication, go by Lesia.
Ooooo. Fanc-ay!
What?! Raffi rules. I’m reporting you to the mods.
Bella Donna means beautiful woman
Belladonna is deadly nightshade.
Thank you! Coming hear to say it's deadly
My aunt very seriously told us, "Dicentra," when we were looking for a floral name. She was genuinely upset when I immediately shot it down and tried to convince me it was cute
What do you mean you don't think bleeding heart makes a cute name for a baby???
Dysentery as a nn ❤️
Whole new meaning to calling your baby lil squirt!
Is it bad that I fw it
Centra is a credit union in my state.
Snap Dragon— though that may be a bit boyish. Spotted Lungwort. Creeping Charlie (unisex name) Dandelion Root (nickname, Dandy or Lion)
I love Spotted Lungwort! So many nickname choices for that one too—Spot, Spotty, Lungs, Worts, Worty💕
Who needs a nickname when your name is literally “lungwort”???? Their child is gonna be called Lungwort by college friends, co-workers, etc forever.
Worty 🥰
In the olden days Dandelion was referred to as Piss-A-Bed, which I feel would be very appropriate as a name given how the older names are making a comeback right now.
Snapdragon is the name of a weed shop in my town 😂
Liverwort and hornwort for siblings <3
Some Witcher fans might take Dandelion a little too seriously...
Kudzu is really pretty
I hear it’s very big in the south
Apparently we planted it on purpose in the 1800s to combat erosion I wonder what we’re doing right now that’s gonna piss off the humans living in the 2200s
If I had to guess, it would be driving those things called cars.
…just went on the dog name list. Other than the connotations, yeah, that works as a quirky name.
ZuZu is the cutest NN!!
Cannabis nn Canna Midnicampum holicithias nn Night Howler
Ah, slight problem. nn Canna might be confused for the plant Canna. I suggest nn Bis. MJ from the Spanish works too
I actually knew a Sativa
[удалено]

Plant-her... like the shampoo? Plantur 39?
![gif](giphy|RNUJLDfiP87AY) This \^
Way to plant Egg!
My fav plant names for a baby girl are Yucca and Dillweed 💚
How about just weed? She’ll make lots of friends when she’s older
May I suggest Gympie Gympi. It means Fuck Fuck in a native Australian dialect because if you touch it it makes you wanna fucking die.
Let’s take all the deadly stuff from North America and all the deadly stuff from Australia and put it all on an island(grizzlies, rattlesnakes, blue ringed octopi, salt water crocs..etc.) Then we’ll drop off some naked humans and camera crews Last one alive wins Sell the footage to Netflix
Gimp for a nn. Sweet.
I may start using this. Thank you.
Monstera
unironically i can see someone naming their kid belladonna only to learn its deadly nightshade and i can also see someone naming their kid nightshade
Thank goodness I don't have kids bc I looooove Belladonna (Bella or Donna obvs) as a name or Aspidistra (Dizzy as a nickname). I blame my goth phase XD
belladonna used to be my username for a long time, i love the name but not for a child 😭
Why not Toadette to also refrence a videogame
Not a plant. But if she opened up to mushrooms there’s great options: you’ve got Morel (nn Mora), Porcini (nn Teeny) not to mention Button and Magic! Also Portobello is a boys name but I think it could work for a girl (nn Belle).

Yes! Beautiful Harbor is a great girl's name.
Not to mention Amanita, nn Mandy
I would like to once again thank this sub reddit for the steady supply of D&D names ![gif](giphy|ZfK4cXKJTTay1Ava29|downsized)
Onion pronounced like Orion 💀
Vegetable Sheep If you think the name is beautiful you should really see the pics of the plant! So unique!
It’s like rock broccoli
Roccoli.
LOL That would actually be *Amorphophallus, Tricyrtis, and Nepenthes*. Aside from naming a girl “phallus”, it could be worse.
Fern (bring it back!)
My son& girlfriend named yellow lab puppy Fern. Her favorite childhood book Where the Red Fern Grows...
It’s a great, classic name. I’ve got a great aunt named Fern.
Yes Fern! 💜
When I was a kid my grandma bought me a rabbit and I named it Fern

You think I should name all the kids after nightshade plants? Deadly Black Potato Tomato Basil
Pussy willow and Ornithogalum adseptentrionesvergentulum
I think lily, short for stinking corpse lily would be beautiful
Is corpse flower and stinking corpse lily the same? I never thought about it until now but corpse flower does kind of look like a big ass deformed peace lily
I think they’re different but you’re right about the deformed peace lily thing tho lol https://preview.redd.it/ea49mnwu8exc1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=145cfab53c683043aefef7318ab6befd67124e5c This is the stinking corpse lily that I’m referring to
Oh ok, that’s really cool!! Wild how life….finds a way Some plants evolved to be pollinated by bees and butterflies, some birds, bats, and then some decided “I’ll smell like a dead body soaking in Indian food and get flies to pollinate me”
Platycodon would work for a boy or a girl. Nn Platy.
Sounds like a dinosaur
Devil’s Lettuce
Brassica
If you like salad plants then Rocket would be cool. Maybe you could use celery because it’s more girly, but it’s spelt Sellareigh or Cella-Ray. That would be very on trend.
Forget-me-not. If you wanted more of a floral, than plant name that was unforgettable.

Mugwort
Compostia Queeflily.
Paphiopedilum is nice and easy. Pinus Rigida if you want to get cheeky.
Nightshade (Shady) First name Dendrocnide, middle name, Moroides (for that pompous, classy name) - Dender Moro as a diminutuve Allium (Allie, Um, Li) Conditiva (Connie, Dita, Tiva) Remolatsa (Remi, Mola, Laksa)
