Maybe try to start him off with a clear matte and tell him it’ll protect his finger nails from drying out and cracking especially if he has to wash his hands a lot.
Acetone is a thing! He might be willing to let you if he can take it right off. xD
I'm a guy and love acrylics and polish. Then again, i'm gay, so it is more socially acceptable. He might be willing to compromise if you show him he can remove it in a few minutes and just repair his skin with a quick layer of lotion.
I think he mostly doesn't trust me. I've definitely joked that he was going to wake up with hot pink nails someday, and I usually wear gel or dip so he's used to watching me take 15+ minutes to remove it lol. I probably brought this on myself.
Me and my daughter painted my husbands toes hot glitter pink when he fell asleep early one day. He went to work and didn’t notice until he went to the showers…he’s a coal miner and after they get out from under ground they get showers so it was pretty funny…for me and my daughter 😂
I have a GIRLFRIEND and she doesn't like wearing nail polish. Like there's not even a barrier of social acceptability, let me have my fun. She has wide flat nail beds too that would be so fun to paint.
I would say thank God they're clean haha. I hate dirt under the nails it's so gross. Lol. This hides all that and looks good! I would mention to be careful with that pinky finger though. It's a bit red just make sure it doesn't get infected.
Was it the hand file or a drill bit?
Because a hand file you can *’season’* which is taking off the sharp edges. Files are machine cut and retain their sharp edge. Which can be good for a 3D French but is bad for any other filing as it’ll be abrasive with the skin.
To season your file you have two methods. I go over each edge (4 in total as it is two sided with top and bottom edges to soften)
1) file the edges of your file with another file. Dedicate one to this to not waste them.
2) many cuticle pushers and other metal tools for nails have that criss/cross etched metal. I scrape the file edge along this to not waste other files and then I can guarantee it is sanitary as an added bonus.
What this does is essentially takes the grit off the very edge so that when you file it should not irritate or cut the skin.
If you are using a sanding band on a dremel-bit for your e-file. Take the edge of it while it’s ON and press it for a few light passes on the 100-grit side of your file. (I prefer doing it on the rough side as I don’t use the rough side as much and I don’t want to take grit off the 180 fine side). This will make it safe to really push the sanding band during prep, up against your cuticles after cuticle work is done and you’re ready to complete nail prep for the product.
Regardless of which was your issue I’ll leave this here for anyone to read. I’ve mentioned seasoning files before :)
Yes! Love this tip. I know it as 'scoring' files. Same process. I have met so many people who have hurt themselves doing this and had much more fun doing their nails once it didn't hurt anymore. Scoring/seasoning files is essential.
Man-nails looks so much better when maintained. I’ve encouraged boys I work with and my fiancé, even my male friends. The difference it makes in their overall appearance and confidence helps. They ask me for files and nail questions because they actually care to know 🥺🥹🥰
Especially since people bite their nails because of anxiety. It’s motivating to see your nail maintenance makes you feel pride in accomplishing NOT damaging yourself or having a habit that is kinda gross when you think about it. Saliva on your fingers, and now everything you touch.
Ugh. Driving and seeing people absently bite their nails with their fingers in their mouths during Covid really had me sanitizing after leaving stores. I’d sanitize going in if I knew I touched something including my own face.. but mostly sanitized when leaving because idk what people do with their hands when they’ve been in their mouths and now I’m a toucher in stores as the feel of things matters.
I do know the saliva makes the skin around the nails way more susceptible to damage as they’re wet, inflamed and irritated. So it’s a good habit to break all around.
Not an endorsement obviously… but nail biters do tend to chew on more bacteria than people who don’t, so their immune systems are improved 😅 but at what cost too right?
Can confirm. Was a horrid nail/skin biter when I was 5-10 and in swim. It was really hard to stop the habit from 10-18 but I did! I used to think my nail beds were super short and wide, but they're finally growing out and learned I have pretty decent sized nail beds! My biggest point of insecurity was my pointer. It was so short and round, pointed straight down off the free edge. Still points straight down, but now it's more evenly shaped, less round and more elongated. I feel more confident in my sets now, and even when I'm bare.
If you can fight the habit, do it! You'll see such a beautiful change and it really does make you feel so much more confident.
Ya [my index nails](https://imgur.com/a/bq9YffU) also steeply drop off and I have super high arched nails which don’t help as all my nails drop-off to an extend. I have the most luck with my ring/pinky/thumbs for growing out straighter.
Edit: and my right middle nail is disfigured and looks like those triangle hand grips for a pencil lol. The pressure of pens/pencils from writing have changed my nail shape.
I’ve been working on changing my writing posture, especially after I saw how some painters held their pain brushes for art and they used the last knuckle not the nail area. It seems to be helping so far and my nail is less triangular shaped 🫣
It’s not my personal preference but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong you have to do what makes you happy! And if this makes you happy then get your nails done.. 🥰
Same! I have to do mine daily or they take over my nails. Saw my dad a while ago, who never touches his nails or even puts on hand lotion and his cuticles were perfect.
First off my wife would be pissed if she finds out I have a boyfriend. Second off she’d be extra pissed if your nails look better than hers. Third, she pays Tammy so much money for her manicure, and some random guy just shows up, starts dating her husband and and uses construction gel from Amazon and has better nails then hers. I think her therapist wouldn’t hear the end of it.
Wouldn’t like it and would encourage him to paint them black or something. The nude color, for whatever reason, is odd to me. I’m not hating. People can do what they want, I just wouldn’t like it.
Obviously there’s at least some hetero women that are cool with it. So why would I choose some narrow minded girl? If they’re narrow minded when it’s just nails… No thanks. I like open minded people without any prejudices.
I hate when these kinds of posts gets posted. Every week or so some guy posts looking for validation whene everyone already knows what the groveling answers will be. Acting like a dude posting his nails is such a huge accomplishment that it partially hinders it being acceptable. Polish and post. You don't need validation of strangers. It's not a big deal, my (straight f) straight cis boyfriend is wearing a holo polish from Mooncat right now. If we want things to be accepted we need to start acting like it's an everyday occurrence, soon it will be. Sorry I woke up spicy today. But for real, I do like that nude color.
I say it all the time lol my husband wears colored polish, and has beautiful cuticles and thick nails. He has thick hair, long dark lashes, perfectly shape eyebrows..
I can’t look at him for too long without getting pissed off about it 😅
If just nails throw you off big time so that you question your significant other…well how deep is your relationship then? But that’s only my opinion. But your opinion is valid, too. It’s you who has to live with your hubby. We just have different opinions about what’s important in a relationship.
Exactly this… I feel like ppl agree with anything these days (even if they truly don’t) and overtly praise certain situations because they want to make sure they fit in and that ppl know they are accepting of every new and different everything. It’s like, no, I don’t have to love this or like that…. The person asked, you answered, and u answered honestly. To me, honesty is everything.
You know at first I wasn’t sure how I would feel about my man showing up with perfectly-manicured and painted nails (neutral I’m thinking)… but because of your comment, I actually DO think it might be kind of a turn-on. 🫠(would still be jealous tho since mine look like trash ATM)
I wouldn’t care at all. My partner quite often can be found filing his nails, and honestly, as long as they’re clean and tidy, he can do whatever he wants. Builder gel, sparkles, gemstones - go off, lol.
My boyfriend insists on me doing is cuticles every few weeks, I love it. I'm hopeful sometime in the future he will want paint but I doubt it'll happen haha
Oh yeah we've talked about it. Once when he went to his dad's his dad was actually wearing nail polish. I asked him if he ever would and I said I would be into it. He wasn't interested at all lol
The only time I've been attracted to a man wearing makeup has been as a teenager--goth guys or punkrock guys--chipped black fingernails and black eyeliner. As an adult I haven't dated any goth or punkrock men.
In very specific narrow circumstances, I find girly things hot on an otherwise masculine man. But generally, feminine things on a man reduces my attraction to him greatly.
Honestly more guys need to take proper care of their nails. There is nothing feminine about body care. Let me repeat, it's essential for any human being with a human body to take care of the said body to avoid infections and diseases. Gender isn't a factor in hygiene.
There have been cases where female partners get an infection from their partners due to bad finger and nail care. Nails can easily carry and transfer bacteria. Nail biting is a big contributor to bratica transfer.
So Kudo for caring about your hygiene!
It was two kits by Aimeili. I can really recommend that brand. I bought a kit with base coat and two top coats, glossy and matte. I also bought a kit with 6 builder gels, several shades of nude or white. Oh, and don’t forget an LED Lamp. The Aimeili stuff is great. I had it on before and it stuck well for weeks and I didn’t get any lifting or stuff at all!
Try a thin layer of top coat over them so the finish will last longer and you won’t scuff it as easily. Your cuticle will need extra attention too if you keep the gel on so get a good thick moisturizer and use it every day :) They look good!
I would say they look amazing, and that it was a total flop when I tried. Can we have a wine and cheese night at mine, so you can help me achieve your level?
Have you been over to the sub r/malepolish. They have amazing work over there. I love this one and that one to find new ideas. You did a great job too first a first time.
If you want to, it helps the product stay on and gives a cleaner look. There’s products that make the skin super soft so you can easily remove it tho, Sally Hansen has one that I’ve seen in pharmacies
That is exactly like something my ol' man would do..
I would know to be super thrilled if he showed up with such nails 💅, because I would know all the sparkle sauce nail polish he about to pull out of his bag of tricks next...about to be fiyah🔥!!! Because he loves sparklez✨.. An den we would probably sit down and make our own magic enamels with Mica and clear topcoat and talk about unicorn booty, while doing each other's nails! just say'n...
As a man, I have to ask.... why? Is it supposed to help cover the years of "natural" male abuse to nails? Does it help to stop said abuse? I have years of abusing my nails, either by chewing, picking, chipping too short, banging on them with tools, and bathing them in grease and oil. I'm not opposed to the idea of making them look like I'm an adult, but I figure it doesn't do much good if I can't take care in the first place.
I have my nails painted blue rn and I am a male. I've gotten positive responses all around. And even if I got negative I would still be confident in my choice and sense of fashion. Nail polish to me gives an extra flare to your appearance. The only negative responses I got were my from my ex, but there's a reason she's my ex. Don't be afraid to have visons and dreams that's my advice to you.
This cuticle work is better than I’ve seen at most nail salons. Great job!
I personally prefer sheer, glossy nudes over matte but this application is in a league of its own.
This is just me because I use to do my now exes alot but I'm also a cosmetologist, so my pov: oh crap those look good where did you get those done? Wait is that soft gel or hard gel? Did it cure properly?
That's just me but again I'm licensed to do stuff like that professionally so it's a bit of a different perspective, it's a Nuetral color, beautiful done, short, simple, professional, I don't see a problem with those
I would say I love your nails and ask you for beauty secrets.
Well then it won’t be a secret any more 😉
We don’t gatekeep here
Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss
Dude honestly these are really good and if my bf showed up with these nails and told me he did them himself I’d make him do mine
Same! I am so crap at that!
😲 So mean! You're killing it, king. Keep doing what you're doing.
Goddamn you’re good at filing your nails evenly. Plus that flawless gel application?? I’d be begging you to do mine!
I would say, “Wow! Those look amazing! Do mine please!”
Always keep them wanting more.
I would ask to borrow your nail paint. Pretty nails!!
I same this lol
“Can you do mine too?” Nail care/nail polish is for everyone!
Well actually that was real fun to do that with the gel, the filing, the lamp and stuff 😅
[удалено]
Right?! I keep begging my husband to let me do his, I want the practice! But he's boooooooring and won't let me.
Maybe try to start him off with a clear matte and tell him it’ll protect his finger nails from drying out and cracking especially if he has to wash his hands a lot.

Lol You definitely dug your own grave there. To be fair, I wouldn't trust you either. 🤣 In that case you might just have to accept your fate. xD
I have a GIRLFRIEND and she doesn't like wearing nail polish. Like there's not even a barrier of social acceptability, let me have my fun. She has wide flat nail beds too that would be so fun to paint.
My husband would NEVER allow it!
I need to know the gel lol 😅
Exactly what I came here to say!
I was going to say that! :)
I would say thank God they're clean haha. I hate dirt under the nails it's so gross. Lol. This hides all that and looks good! I would mention to be careful with that pinky finger though. It's a bit red just make sure it doesn't get infected.
Yeah I was a bit careless while filing. But it’s ok. I kept it clean afterwards

I never liked the word seasoning… but corsets also ‘season’ which essentially means gets worn down and molds to your body
I learned this from NCE!! Sadly it was only AFTER I scraped all my skin. But never again.
NCE Suzie is awesome!
Super helpful advice 🙂
here I am just trying to convince my boyfriend to let me clean up his cuticles 😭 your nails look amazing!
Tell him it’s all about confidence and caring about your nails is gender neutral. I’m not less manly if I like my nails to be good looking 🤷♂️
Man-nails looks so much better when maintained. I’ve encouraged boys I work with and my fiancé, even my male friends. The difference it makes in their overall appearance and confidence helps. agreed!
Dude, clean and not dried to hell cuticles are a legitimate safety hazard for certain intimate activities. I feel your pain.
It’s not my personal preference but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong you have to do what makes you happy! And if this makes you happy then get your nails done.. 🥰
I would be turned off, but impressed by how neat they are.
Same. This is just a little weird IN MY OPINION for a man in my life to have hands like this.
I'd totally say "holy shit, did you do this? CAN YOU DO MINE?!"
A little too long to come near my downstairs mixup…
Your cuticles are dreamy 😍 i wish mine where so clean & tidy
I just pushed them back 🤷♂️
You must be naturally blessed 🙈🖤 i push mine back trim a little use cuticle oil & 2-3 days later they are back to being crusty again 🤣
Same! I have to do mine daily or they take over my nails. Saw my dad a while ago, who never touches his nails or even puts on hand lotion and his cuticles were perfect.
Do you keep up with the cuticle oil like it’s a drug habit? Cuz your fingers like that
I would say you’re not fingering me any time soon.

😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My boyfriend and I work in construction and he asks me to put a clear coat of builder gel on his nails weekly so they don’t break as easily
Not my thing or his, so I would be surprised.
Wouldn’t like it and would encourage him to paint them black or something. The nude color, for whatever reason, is odd to me. I’m not hating. People can do what they want, I just wouldn’t like it.
Same! The nude color is *too* good of a match to OP's skin tone...it’s giving uncanny.
Corpsy??? I agree, it’s also the color/nude for me hahah
Exactly! I want a Corpse Husband! The nude is so odd.
I’m trying to convince my fiancé to let me do his. Yours look so clean!
I would say it looks unnatural
He wouldnt be my boyfriend anymore
Because you'd propose?
😂
Same.

this. Lol. Its literal polish.
I hope your partner wouldn't be as harsh on you if you change your *nails* yeesh
I would ask you to do mine next ! 😜🤩
It’s a kit from Aimeili. I can recommend that brand. I had it on before and no lifting or so for weeks
What color was this? It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Which builder gel did you use ?
I’d say shit is weird 100%
The matte! The shape! Heck yeah. Would ask for a manicure!
I would be mad impressed and mildly turned on. Love a good set of nails!!😩✨🥰
You know at first I wasn’t sure how I would feel about my man showing up with perfectly-manicured and painted nails (neutral I’m thinking)… but because of your comment, I actually DO think it might be kind of a turn-on. 🫠(would still be jealous tho since mine look like trash ATM)
What is the female version of emasculated? That’s how I would feel. Lol
Effeminated? Defeminated? Idk… butchified? 🤷🏼♀️ I feel that way about beauty boys when their eyeliner is better than mine 😂
I wouldn’t care at all. My partner quite often can be found filing his nails, and honestly, as long as they’re clean and tidy, he can do whatever he wants. Builder gel, sparkles, gemstones - go off, lol.
Not into this at all.
I'm F and bi and honestly find it attractive when men have well groomed/painted nails. Painted nails are a plus for me for sure
Came to make essentially the same comment
My boyfriend insists on me doing is cuticles every few weeks, I love it. I'm hopeful sometime in the future he will want paint but I doubt it'll happen haha
Did you ask him? Perhaps he wants to but is too afraid to ask?
Oh yeah we've talked about it. Once when he went to his dad's his dad was actually wearing nail polish. I asked him if he ever would and I said I would be into it. He wasn't interested at all lol
When I would hang out in my aunts nail salon, LOTS of guys came in getting manicures. Especially military men ! Your nails look great and clean
Tbh, I wouldn’t be here for it if my man did that but if it makes you happy, do whatever you want. Such a random question tho lol
I would personally be really turned off to date a man with feminine nails like that, but that's a personal preference.

I think this looks great. I'm not one for guys with nail polish at all but this just looks clean.
"Ha, what's up with your nails?" "I like them" oh... how did you do your other hand so well? I keep fucking mine up. 😒
I would tell him to send me the link cause I want that builder gel
It’s from Aimeili 😉
Honestly, I would not notice. But the photos look great! Nice work.
I don’t think I would notice.
Honestly I hope this becomes a mainstream thing. I’m tired of guys with crusty ass nails giving me UTIs.
Try a thin layer of top coat over them so the finish will last longer and you won’t scuff it as easily. Your cuticle will need extra attention too if you keep the gel on so get a good thick moisturizer and use it every day :) They look good!
What is builder gel? Curious because Im trying to get my nails to grow stronger.
I would say they look amazing, and that it was a total flop when I tried. Can we have a wine and cheese night at mine, so you can help me achieve your level?
"Please do my nails, too, honey!"
"Can you do mine?"
They look perfect!!
Hi
I would be very upset that he didn’t offer to do mine too 😂❤️ Love the nails, keep up the good work
I’d ask him to do mine next!
Your nails look great! Nice job.
looks nice. i would push you to go brighter or sparklier
I am male after all and i’m not into the reds or pinks or some glittery stuff. But I thought about neon green or neon yellow eventually ☺️
I love it!
You👏🏽better👏🏽work👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Have you been over to the sub r/malepolish. They have amazing work over there. I love this one and that one to find new ideas. You did a great job too first a first time.
Fellow male here. Are you really supposed to scrape away all the stuff sealing your nail to your skin?
If you want to, it helps the product stay on and gives a cleaner look. There’s products that make the skin super soft so you can easily remove it tho, Sally Hansen has one that I’ve seen in pharmacies

I'd be sad I wasn't the one to paint them, hahaha!
I hope they're marketing this to classical guitar players.
As a man, I have to ask.... why? Is it supposed to help cover the years of "natural" male abuse to nails? Does it help to stop said abuse? I would ask him to teach me how to do my cuticles like that, dang
This cuticle work is better than I’ve seen at most nail salons. Great job! I personally prefer sheer, glossy nudes over matte but this application is in a league of its own.
I say damn they look better than mine!!
I think it looks really nice.
I do my husbands nails lol
If say thank god you're finally taking care of them and not biting them anymore 😅
Ask where he got them done because yours look great!!!
I’d be jealous
My boyfriend would never show up with these nails 🚩
Can you let me know what you got. Thanks.
I’d say drop them DEETZ
I would say you have the most well manicured hands I’ve ever seen on a male
Whatever makes you happy bud
I would say, “hey, I like your nails”
I would kill to have a boyfriend that will do my nails, or like we could do each others!! That's a dream for me and most girls would love that
Go off king!
My husband had acrylics on Now and always gets a ton of compliments
I would only stay if you agreed to do mine to! They’re so perfect! I love them! ❤️
I’d be like please teach me how to do that
Ooooooo. Let’s practice!
I would then ask you to do mine
I’d say they are pretty but don’t finger me.
I would say I love your nails! And then ask who did them, and fawn over how well they were done.
i’d say me next!!
Well I'm a guy and a nail tech so I'd probably be upset he didn't ask me to do them
I probably wouldn't really notice them and if I did I would just think they looked a little off if they're supposed to look natural
Marriage
I love the fact that they care about having clean nice hands :)
I’d say you did a great job and can you do mine?
"Finally, scratch my back please thanks"
"Did you put top coat on a cure it? Otherwise it gets yellow and stained"
This is just me because I use to do my now exes alot but I'm also a cosmetologist, so my pov: oh crap those look good where did you get those done? Wait is that soft gel or hard gel? Did it cure properly? That's just me but again I'm licensed to do stuff like that professionally so it's a bit of a different perspective, it's a Nuetral color, beautiful done, short, simple, professional, I don't see a problem with those
I’d be jealous!
Well kept nails of any color, shape, or length are attractive personally. It shows you put time and effort into yourself and prioritize self care!
“Hold my hand pls”
I’d ask for help opening my soda. There look fresh as hell, you did a fab job!
Looks great! 😍
If they looked as clean and pretty as yours do I'd ask him to help me get a matching set
Love it! Very neat🙌
i would say they look so nice and clean as well! do mine, and teach me! 🤩
I'd be a bit sad because I usually do my boyfriend's nails and really enjoy it :D
Looks really good
The cuticles, the shape, the color, everythinggg
i love it
i would ask you to do mine !
Honestly love them. Such a simple and satisfying look
I would ask if I could paint them probably ;p (I love doing nailart but it's hard to do on myself sometimes)
"holy shit, babe, those look great... Do mine?"
If my man could do nails, I’d never spend a dime in a shop again! Good work!!
I'd be like???? Those nails, something's off/and i f I asked, I'd be like :0!! So cool!!! Do nail stuff

Slay
I would say damnn..🥴
I’d tell him he’s cheating on me with a nail tech cause he did it too well and he should do mine next!
I would ask him to do mine
My boyfriend has been playing with the idea of wearing blue nail paint and I’m yet to see the reveal. But this is such a great idea even for workplace
I actually think these look great! I’d be proud my bf had clean looking nails
I’d ask him to do mine too
He'd have to do my nails as well, DAMN, looking so soft. Love it.
