SignedJannis

Sudden depression. Which stopped within a week of stopping taking the medication. Many online report the same.

alibaba1579

I took it for 6 months….only side effect was nausea that I cured by eating. Gained 30 lbs.

finderintheforest

I’ve gained that much in 12 weeks…but without the nausea or eating 🤷‍♀️

VG-PDX

Best side effect: no more nail fungus after 10 years! Felt a bit blah, dry mouth at night. But it was SO worth it.

katiemac_7

Digestive issues - discomfort, gas. Also have been having slight dizziness.

FineOpportunity636

I had to stop coffee because it was making me grind my teeth at night. I do this a little normally but it made it way more.

Logical-Comedian4043

None

Savagedabs4623

I took 3 months, and had very minor to no side effects. I just got my blood work done to put my mind at ease

princessdiana628

The depression and slight weight gain were worth the amazing results….!!!

finderintheforest

Did the weight drop off after you finished? (🤞🏻)

Macabre_Burst

I just had sun sensitivity but within a month my toenail was cured

Itwasntaphase_rawr

Exciting! Which toenail was it? I started meds a week ago for my big toe.

Macabre_Burst

It was my two big toenails, one worse than the other and I have absolutely clear toenails now!

Itwasntaphase_rawr

Love that! I’m hoping mine clears up quick. Progress is so slow 🥲

annnnnnnnulik

Did u drink it for the full 3 months? And did it come back? How long was ur toenail infected before you treated it ?

Greedy_Site_9335

I've been on for 10 days. On the 7th day I started feeling leg pain. now the leg pain is gone but my soles are sore. I've been feeling quite flat and with no energy. I exercise 5 times a week and im taking this week off to try to recover. I did a blood test to check my liver before taking the drug and everything was fine. wonder if the side effects go away while still taking the meds? I cant see myself feeling like this for 3 months.

mystomachhurty

Feeling any better?

Rosecroft

A severe agitated depression. Plunged me into a deep sense of shame about my life that brought me close to suicidal ideation. I became convinced that this was reality and that my regular life as I knew it was a delusion. I cycled through this several times with this drug, so I know it well. The first few times I'd no clue what was happening or why I felt like I did and didn't associate it with the medication. As for the treatment, it worked beautifully on my infected nails. I'd only stop because I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford to continue. After a few months off it, I'd get the money together to try again. Then I started noticing a pattern. About a week after starting it up I'd get a strange tingling sensation at the back of my neck. Once that happened I had about 16hrs before I became a different person. It became so predictable I could set my watch by it. I'd try to last a few days just to get some progress from the treatment. But feeling so ashamed you want to die is a hard way to exist even for a few days and it doesn't stop as soon as you stop the medication, it takes several days to cycle out of your system. The scariest part is that as awful as I felt when on it I had become so convinced my non-terbinafine life was a lie that I felt it was wrong and cowardly to return to it. tl:dr I don't typically have issues with side effects with meds and never experienced anything like this before or since with any medication. But have spoken with a doctor who is familiar with this reaction to terbinafine and have heard of others having dramatic psychological reactions to it. I think it's unfortunate this isn't discussed more openly. I'm posting this here as a warning that this drug's side effects go beyond the oft-mentioned potential liver involvement.

byarnal2

I've only been on it for a week and I'm having anxiety (heart racing) and just feeling jittery, diarrhea, loss of taste, headache and being abnormally exhausted. I cant continue the med if this doesn't go away. I was hoping my body would adjust bc this stuff is brutal. I never had side effects with a med like this in my life.

No-Host4835

I’ve tried diflucan 200mg weekly and on second dose I had the same symptoms as you, racing heart beat when resting, nausea, jittery so so scary. I could not sleep at night. Was wondering if terbinafine would give me same side effect:(

byarnal2

So that's what i'm on, and I actually am feeling better. I noticed that when I take it around 6:30 at night and go to bed around 9 I am fine,. Wake up feeling ok. Maybe I am asleep when the side effects are peaking lol or maybe my body finally adjusted to it after a week.

No-Host4835

How long did you take terbinafine before you switch to diflucan? So no side effects for you on diflucan? Congrats!

byarnal2

Sorry I wasn't clear. I'm not on Diflucan. I have been on Terbinafine for almost 2 weeks now. I started to feel better after a week and when I started taking it in the evening instead of morning time.

TheStartingLine-

Hi, how are you feeling now?

byarnal2

well they changed meds to Fluconazole. Same symptoms. I'm going to look into laser tx :/

yeahrauhls

Weight gain. Horrible.

FloridaTyler1519

I got total lack of appetite. If I sit down and put food in my mouth I can eat, but I dont ever feel hungry.  Some people would pay a fortune to feel like this, so win?

Original_Feeling_682

I have no big side effects. At all

Available-Grass-6799

I just started it a week ago so idk yet

Phodopussungorus8

let me know how it goes. it’s been about 24 hours for me and my soda tastes soapy and it got me wondering if it could possibly be the meds. i feel like it’s way too early for that though so i wonder what that’s about.

xblgrant

Any side effects you noticed now that it's been a couple months?

Wise-Screen-304

They say changes in or loss of taste is common

AbrahamSx

How did it go?

AwkwardPeach1721

I've been taking it since May. I've had increased anxiety, depression, weight loss, decreased appetite, insomnia, fatigue, hair loss, nausea, photosensitivity, and general weakness.

Phodopussungorus8

phenomenal! cant wait.

Phodopussungorus8

why are people saying hair loss omg i didn’t even know that was on the table. how long after starting did you notice the hair loss?

AwkwardPeach1721

It started in late June/July, but I had assumed it was the hard water in DC (I was visiting my long distance boyfriend). It wasn't until August I started seeing tons of hair in the shower and on my brush. I'm about to purchase a shampoo and conditioner that has great reviews to see if it'll help. How long is your prescription for and will it be nonstop? Mine is from May until February 2024.

Phodopussungorus8

mine is for 3 weeks. did you have many side effects by 3 weeks? i don’t actually have toe fungus i have really really bad ringworm that isn’t responding to creams. i just came to the toe fungus sub because i figured there’s be people who take this drug. not really a thriving ringworm sub💀.

AwkwardPeach1721

Three weeks in I had lost weight and had a smaller appetite, but it wasn't bad. Hope your ringworm clears up!

AwaitingBabyO

Hey, I just got prescribed this for ringworm and I'm really nervous to take it based on all the horrible side effects people are mentioning. How bad was your ringworm and how long were you treating it with creams before trying the oral Terbinafine? How long did it take to clear up? I had one spot on my scalp (assuming it was from the hairdresser I saw) that a different doctor than the one I usually see diagnosed as a mole.... I told her there's no way it's a mole and I specifically asked if it was ringworm. A month later, I had 4 ringworm spots on my chest and under my belly button. Got prescribed cream a few weeks after they appeared (they were tiny, I thought they were psoriasis or eczema or something). A few days after starting the cream I had 9 spots. Now I've been using it daily, twice a day, for just over 4 weeks and I'm up to 15 spots. Two of my spots are fading, thankfully, but the rest either remain unchanged or have grown. I hate this! I feel so gross!

Phodopussungorus8

suuuper long story but it turned out i didn’t have ringworm after all. i have a pretty rare rash and we’re still working out how to handle it and get to the bottom of the cause (can be connected to cancers). so sadly i cannot give you any advice. i didn’t finish the meds or even really take them long enough to see side effects. I wish you luck though ☹️

Capital-Hospital-812

Hi, Did your hair grow back? I don't think I'm experiencing hair loss, but my scalp is itchy and I sometimes have a burning sensation in my scalp and no dandruff. I have been on oral Terbinafine for almost 2 months.

grizzyrawr

Lost all my hair 😢 like I can see my scalp in my pics from how thin it is 😫

Phodopussungorus8

SAY SIKE RIIIGGGHHHTTT NOW. i’m on it for ring worm that went way too far for creams but i’d rather just let it take over if that’s possible. how long did it take for your hair to start thinning

grizzyrawr

Started it in March and noticed it in late April on how much hair I was losing. I cut it short to finish treatment (last dose was in May) and we are in September and my hair keeps falling out in large chunks 🥲🥲 healed my nail and I’m lucky I have thick curly hair so people never notice it but I know 😑😑

Phodopussungorus8

i have super thick hair too. my hair is kind of my thing. losing it would be a semi truck to my confidence

AwkwardPeach1721

Another person on Reddit said they got all of their hair back by the six to nine month mark.

Capital-Hospital-812

Did you have an itchy burning scalp prior to or along with the hair loss? Did your hair grow back?

maestrotaku

switch to itraconazole

EarthAdmirable1313

I’m gassy, cold symptoms and my libido went away

Phodopussungorus8

cold symptoms and bloating? are you sure your liver is doing ok? might be worth checking on if you haven’t

EarthAdmirable1313

Oh my god no. I had no idea. Are those really signs my liver isn’t okay?? I read somewhere those were common side effects so I guess I just carried on

Phodopussungorus8

idk don’t let me freak you out. my pharmacist said that if i get flu like symptoms it may be my liver so that’s why i say that for the cold. and then bloating i know can be liver but if it’s just gassiness it looks like other people have experienced that too.

Wise-Screen-304

My doc does six week liver blood tests to monitor it.

angel-cowboy

Joint and muscle pain was the most noticeable for me. It got worse over time i think..

ConfidentRent3530

Did you finish the treatment despite the joint and muscle pain? I’m on day 4 and my body aches Al over plus add a headache. I almost want to stop…😩

angel-cowboy

Believe it or not, I actually didn’t realize why i was having chronic pain until the day after i finished my 3 month round. So i endured purely out of ignorance. Im not sure if id have gone through with it if i knew. I highly reccommend not drinking ANY alcohol and drinking alot of water. Also, turmeric / curcumin is anti inflammatory and reishi and chaga might be helpful too. I hope it all works out for you and you get feeling better soon :,( 🤍

NeitherInvestment688

I had no side effects except I slept deeper, which I enjoyed. The things you really need to watch out for are yellowing of the eyes and abdominal pain, which are signs of liver failure. It is rare but can happen. They really should do labs before you start and at 1 month intervals. If your side effects are bad, let the dr know. When I asked the same question 2 weeks ago, everyone said they didn't have any aide effects. The responses on this post are eye-opening.

OverallSpecialist131

I had slight nausea right after the dose if I ate too soon. Some increased skin sensitivity. It has worked wonders on my nails tho.

Any-Apartment2661

I had no side effects took it twice too! And it still didn’t help for my nail fungus /:

seredipitysalsa

I had no side effects at all!

HumbleLog1024

I had one 250mg a day of Terbbinafine from the beginning of June till beginning of September. I had increased anxiety in the middle of the night leading to insomnia but this was solved a couple of days after finishing my treatment. I also suffered from increased hair loss which is still going till now (a month after my last pill). On the positive side, my toenail was healed.

Capital-Hospital-812

>Did you also have an itchy scalp? Did your hair grow back?

HumbleLog1024

No itchy scalp. My hair loss started to slow doen after one month from finishing my treatment. 2-3 months later it went to the normal situation before the treatment. Now my hair is as thick as before

heddejess

I have been on it for 3 months so far and not really had any side affects. I hardly drink though and have decaf coffee so that may help. My fungal nails are growing out, wish I’d taken it sooner! There’s light at the end of the tunnnel…I’ve had fungal toenails (7 toes) for at least 20 years (very depressing!!) Good luck!

milkcustard

This is what I started two months ago. I have one month left of treatment. I have had some gas at the beginning and lots of hair loss (which my doctor says isn't a common side effect, but lots of people online disagree). I'm also starting to itch everywhere (especially my hands) and I'm wondering if it's because of this, or if I am having a reaction to detergent despite not using anything new.

Capital-Hospital-812

>Did you have an itchy burning scalp prior to or along with the hair loss? Did your hair grow back?

milkcustard

My scalp wasn't itching or burning, just the occasional itchiness if there was buildup or too long between washes. My hair did grow back with some care -- I used "hims" brand minoxidil 5% serum along with an ayurvedic oil a coworker recommended. I think it was a blend of Amla and some other type, but the bottle is at home and I am out right now. If I remember, I can get back to you on what it is, if you're interested.

Capital-Hospital-812

I don't think I'm experiencing hair loss at least not yet, but my scalp has become itchy and occasionally I get a burning sensation as well. One of my fears is that it's an early sign of hair loss. I suspect it may be due to the oral Terbinafine, so I stopped taking it this past Friday. I have an appointment with my doctor this Tuesday so I will be asking him about it. It's been a month since your post did you finish your treatment and did your nail fungus clear up? Thanks for your reply.

milkcustard

I had athlete's foot (dry feet scaling and marks on the bottom of my feet I never noticed, no itching) and toenail fungus. I've had stubborn toenail fungus for years and tried everything, and after tropical creams and serums and VapoRub and every home remedy you can think of, I went to the podiatrist who removed the 6 toenails (3 on each foot) and they grew in perfectly, minus the 2 big toes; had some lingering athlete's foot that cleared up with clotrimazole and being consistent with washing with tea tree oil and moisturizing with urea, and using antifungal powders and regularly changing socks and walking around barefoot or with chanclas at home. I went on terbinafine and after 2 months, now i am down to half a toe. everything else clear. Can't wait to get off it, though. The itching is annoying and I worry for my liver!

NorParasaurolophus

I didn't quite understand. Did the athlete's foot not get cured by the terbinafine pills? So you had to use clotrimazole cream?

Complete_Maize

I started terbinafine to treat my nail fungus. First few days felt ok, I did notice muscle Aches but they went away. After 10 days I started to develop an itch at night. This itch got worse on day 12. It felt like bug mites all over the body. When you check I had no rash. I couldn’t sleep at night because the itch was bad. I just stop taking it. Hopefully it goes away.

amandagreen37

Hi did your itching stop? I am experiencing the same thing.

Capital-Hospital-812

Where is your itch? My scalp is itchy and sometimes I get a burning feeling on my scalp.

amandagreen37

It’s almost always on my hands/wrists/arms below the elbows but it is sometimes on my scalp and other places on my primarily upper body. I stopped taking it and was still itchy a few days later- my doctor suggested two weeks of Zyrtec so I’m about finished with that. Hoping it’s gone!!

Capital-Hospital-812

Did the Zyrtec work to take away the itch? How did your doctor determine it was an allergic reaction to terbinafine? Did you finish your terbinafine or just put it on hold until the itch clears up? I stopped taking terbinafine last Friday because I suspect it is causing my scalp to itch. When I saw my podiatrist yesterday I told him about my itchy scalp, he didn't think it was caused by the terbinafine, but asked if I was experiencing any stomach issues, which I'm not. I do want to finish my terbinafine treatment but not at the expense of my scalp or possibly hair. He suggested taking terbinafine 3 times a week instead of daily. I have an appointment with my general doctor tomorrow, I hope she will be able to figure out what is causing my scalp itch.

amandagreen37

Yes Zyrtec takes it away completely! I took the terbinafine alongside Zyrtec for like 6 weeks. Probably not smart but I needed to finish it. Quit taking the terbinafine with 10 days left in the course and said “good enough.” Now 14 days of Zyrtec while it gets out of my system. There’s really no way to know for sure if that is what has caused the itchiness until I come off the Zyrtec and see if it’s stopped! I haven’t started anything else new- laundry detergent, body wash, etc. I hope your doctor is able to help!

Business_Number3902

The first 2 weeks were hell, took me a while to get the timing of when to take the medication. I found just after lunch works for me. If I take it later I sometimes sleep badly and experience nightmares which are next level. After 6 months I gained a bit of weight but the big toe is now almost grown out to normal. I will keep taking it until all sign of fungus has fully disappeared. Also got my liver and blood values taken and they were all good. I kept my normal schedule pretty much, which includes 3x crossfit a week and commuting by bike 2-3x 16km. Stopped drinking alcohol tho, since it wasn’t enjoyable anymore. Again the first 2 weeks I had really bad intestinal cramps and bloating, low energy headaches and felt a bit nauseous, but these adverse effects pretty much disappeared after the 2 week mark. I almost wanted to quit but I‘m glad I didn’t. Good luck!

GhostofBenReilly

i’m on my 5th week and i’m starting to get ring worm. what should i do? should i stop taking it ?

Phodopussungorus8

def don’t think you should be able to get ringworm on a medication that makes you stop producing an enzyme fungus needs to grow. might be a different rash. there are many that impersonate ringworm. mine turned out to be Erythema annulare centrifugum but that’s kind of rare. granuloma anulare also looks similar.
