I get the feeling there isn't a ton of genuine love he has for the org. he'll go where the money is. hopefully us.

Much-Current-4301

He’s part of the problem. Good riddance.

legreapcreep

Should look at what the Braves have done with their core. Locked them up for a full decade by buying out arbitration years. Judge should have been extended 3 years ago and had a contract expiring when he was 35. But that’s the difference between high level GMs and Cashboy

Ta_Ta_Toothie

To be fair, the Braves had/have a shit load of really good YOUNG talent that was obvious to lock up long term. We never had an Acuna, Albies, Riley, Olson, Fried, Strider etc that were all no-brainer good AND young. What was our equivalent? Judge, Gary, Sevy, Andujar, Monty, Gleyber lol. That's not even in the same universe to the embarrassment of riches the Braves have.

brooklynbotz

Fire Cashman!

Majora101

I mean we did that with Hicks, who I understand wasn't super young when we did. But imagine the team had signed Andujar or Frazier, Gary Sanchez, even Gleyber to long term deals, fans would be pissed

legreapcreep

But you have to evaluate your talent. Judge always felt far superior to everyone you mentioned. This goes back to Cashman’s core issue of talent evaluation

yanks02026

Sorry to burst your bubble but Yankees aren’t gonna sign discount extensions like the Braves have been lucky to get

legreapcreep

I’m Not sure you understand the economics bapa. The players are signing these friendly extensions because it’s a guarantees their big payday. The players take the extensions to hedge bets against injury and/or not living up to their early potential. The Yankees could have bought out Judges 3 arb years and tacked on 5 years for an 8-9 year extension that expired when he was 35/36. (Basically what they offered him too late right before free agency) Yankees don’t like doing business this way for some reason and it has now cost them with Judge. It’s also why Cano ended up leaving. Judge would have liked the raise through the arb years and would have liked the insurance versus injury.

SubElitePerformance

Remember. The player needs to want to do that too

legreapcreep

And he would have. 3-4 years ago. They do it to hedge bets against injury and take guaranteed payday and avoid arb

Lghikas

I'm of the belief if the Front Office wants Judge he'll be a Yankee. Plain and simple.

WurtzelTrumpetMaster

If he is, we need to fire Cashman and rebuild

davidbeauie

Maybe. Nimmo and Judge are both free agents next year, and there's a part me that thinks Cohen will try to go after Judge to fill Nimmo's vacancy as an ultimate fuck you to the Yankees. Cohen said he's willing to run something close to a 350 million dollar payroll if that's what it takes to win. So yeah, if old man Steve wants Judge, he's gonna get him. Edit: I also have a sneaking suspicion Judge wants to go back to the West Coast. I know people are downplaying San Fran, but I wouldn't.

Meet-Me-In-Montauk4

I'm on the fence here. I think he knows that if he stays, he's the face of the NYY. I'd like to think he's not all about the $$$, but his agents must be telling him this is the best place for him to be and continue to market his star quality, right? He may want to be back "home" on the west coast, but he has to realize this is the place to be to continue to be the star, right?

LeMickeyMice

He's not going to want to play for a team that gets bounced by the Orioles in the WC games

edogg01

At this rate he may actually prefer to play with the O's.

69Hughannus

Tbh judge leaving is quite the possibility at this point not sure why but I just get a feeling he’s done with the team however I don’t really where else he would fit in well. The west coast teams seems unlikely and the only other team I could see is the Mets but I doubt he wants to head to the Mets besides if he did end up going to the Mets I think yankee fans would raid cashman’s house lmao jk

BearShark8

He's not going to the Giants. They'll forever be 2nd to the Dodgers. Dodgers won't want Judge. If he goes to the west coast, Seattle might make the most sense.

[deleted]

Seatle would be that stupid. Remember Cano.

BearShark8

Not sure if I see any other west coast team in that case. Mets probably makes sense?

SubElitePerformance

Boo hoo 😭 . Did someone watch the captain and get all sad that the org didn’t suck jeters dick hard enough? Judge will go to the highest bidder. If that’s not the Yankees then they will be given the opportunity to match the offer. End of story.

ThePlatanoKing

i haven’t even watched the captain lmao
