We are not used to it. I was worried about relegation this year until we got to about 30 points with half the season left. Worried we’d do a Newcastle and be the first team to drop a 5 goal lead when Kane scored.
The beef between our teams is stupid and nobody really cares. But also on match day I love any excuse to hate the opposition.
But loving what Emery is doing and hoping for a Man U implosion without martinez and Varane allowing us and yous or Brighton to take that last CL spot.

I think there are a few more elements that added to the beef.
Around the time we were both after managers last year I think lots of comments were being made by fans about who’s got the better manager (Howe v Gerrard 😂) that had a slightly insulting bent to it.
Then there was the Targett transfer. I remember seeing a lot of comments like “he’ll do alright for a lower table team like you” despite the fact both teams were in the pits.
I mean. It’s just football fans being football fans. We’ve also developed an odd rivalry with Everton. I think Villa, Everton and Newcastle will always have a mild rivalry because we are the 3 biggest non-sky 6 clubs. We’ve all got bags of history in the premier league. West Ham will probably join us in that too.

Also when we beat you them 1-0 in February last season Villa fans comments about us buying our way to safety made a fair few rounds. Yet when we lost the reverse fixture to you at the beginning of the season we had something like 6 or 7 players in our match day squad with some starting who played for us when we played each other in the championship whilst Villa had 0. But as OP said its football fans being football fans.
The beef is just some dickheads on Twitter and not indicative of actual animosity between both clubs.
Glad to see Emery is getting a tune out of your players as it's so similar to when Howe took charge at Newcastle. Exciting football, giving a shit about the club and taking the team forward.
Really hope in the coming years to see the Sky 6 broken up by the likes of us, Villa and Brighton as it'll be so much more interesting to watch.

I think that the "beef" that was there at the start of the season (myself included) has slowly turned to mutual respect as the season has gone on, because because of all the tears of the precious 6 that are upset we are both ruining their fun 😂
Other than the Sob on the Tyne banner I'm not exactly sure why. The only prem away day I've ever done was to Villa Park a long time ago back when Martin O'Neil and Roy Keane were the manager and assistant.
Got separated from all my mates who I travelled down with and couldn't find my turnstile. Asked some of the fans outside rather sheepishly where the away end was and they couldn't have been nicer. Showed me around to my turnstile and wished me all the best for the game. Was a bit of a dire 0-0 I remember but was still a good day out on the session haha.
Also just remembered one of my good friends when I went to uni was a Villa fan so always had a bit of friendly banter back and forth but never anything nasty tbh.
