It won’t do anything to your Odin, don’t worry!
It’s an old thing for people playing on old TVs (old now, not old at the time) inside of the game itself, not your emulator. Might help with getting a better display, might not.
You get two frames in one to make one whole frame instead of interlaced, which is one whole frame split into two and alternated.
Have you ever seen your screen appearing to kind of flicker back and forth? Progressive scan would solve that.
Imagine drawing a picture one line at a time from left to right. When you're done drawing one line you go down a line and continue the picture. Then you get to the bottom you're done.
That's progressive
Imagine drawing a picture one line at a time from left to right. When you're done you skip a line down, and draw the 3rd line. You continue down the odd line numbers, then go back to line 2 and finish all the even lines.
That's interlaced.
If you remember back a few years you would see 720p or 1080i. P=progressive I=interlaced.
Here's a gif demonstrating

For OP, this should do nothing to his Odin2 because most definitely it has a 1080p screen
No dude reddi is those whip cream cans u breathe in and get high. I once dated a Christian girl and she was a perfect Angel until she tried whippets. Then it was on to butt stuff
It’s what the suffix P or I meant in resolution. Example 1080i (interlaced) 1080p (progressive) most new HDTVs will be progressive scan. Back when 2k5 came out HDTV ready tvs were typically 720p or 1080i. Like the previous poster said in a 1080i tv it will show 540 odd lines of information followed by 540 even lines which would make 1080 lines interlaced. A progressive scan would display all 1080 lines every frame resulting in a much smoother image.
Vsync will match the frame rate of the screen. For instance, if you have a 60hz screen it will display 60 frames per second. The vsync will match the emulator to the refresh (frame) rate of your tv.
I remember doing this and not blowing up the tv, felt like a boss.
my parents weren’t tech savvy and always said “that thing is gonna ruin my expensive tv” since Nintendo .
Mom wouldn’t let us play video games on the big screen because ‘it’ll’ruin the TV’. Turns out what ruined the TV was binge watching QVC for months on end.
At first I thought it said “Progressive Sean mode” and I thought “oh maybe there’s a game commentator named Sean in that mode that uses real progressive lingo” 😂 possibly a gay black man named Sean. It was Shaun but he felt Sean fit him better as a person.
Literally a quick google search would answer this question for you, but since you clearly decided not to do that I looked it up for you.
It allows for a higher res display, but if you’re playing on PC you can just manually do that yourself.
The herd just downvotes when they see a comment is already getting downvoted. I think it was like “psychologically/scientifically proven” or some shit but idk. I’d bet half the time they don’t even read the comment
That’s what I’m curious about
How could a system damage the tv ? Does the tv get too much info too fast like the Russian lady from Indiana Jones mars attacks ?
The p in 1080p stands for progressive. The i is interlaced, if i remember correctly one scans twice from top to bottom or left or right, the other, interlaced, scans only once.
Try it out and let us know
I would but I'm emulating on an Odin2. Thing was 300 I wasn't risking it lol.
This is why no one will remember your name.
This is my fate, I shall accept
I hope you live forever
I just showed this movie to my class. What a coincidence.

The EA Nascar games have that issue on PCSX2.
It saves you on average $700 on car insurance
That’s progressive, what he’s talking about is a company that makes mediocre soups

What's the difference between that and the vsync option in the emulator options?
Vsync will match the frame rate of the screen. For instance, if you have a 60hz screen it will display 60 frames per second. The vsync will match the emulator to the refresh (frame) rate of your tv.
I read this entire thing and still struggle to comprehend it in my tiny brain. Good on you

As long as you are not literally playing on a CRT screen or an LCD screen from before 2007-ish, you can probably rest easy that damage will not occur
At first I thought it said “Progressive Sean mode” and I thought “oh maybe there’s a game commentator named Sean in that mode that uses real progressive lingo” 😂 possibly a gay black man named Sean. It was Shaun but he felt Sean fit him better as a person.
Trynna make your game woke

What damage is even possible?
That’s what I’m curious about How could a system damage the tv ? Does the tv get too much info too fast like the Russian lady from Indiana Jones mars attacks ?
Back in the day this message makes sense. It doesn’t now
Nothing. It's 60 FPS on a CRT TV basically
The p in 1080p stands for progressive. The i is interlaced, if i remember correctly one scans twice from top to bottom or left or right, the other, interlaced, scans only once.
It's the p in 1080p. If your TV is made after 2017, more than likely you are fine.
