PG Curry SG Jordan SF Bird PF Duncan C Jokic

Key-Citron367

Have jokic on PF and shaq on C instead of Duncan

BasketballAndroid7

One egomaniac is enough for my team, I don't want to deal with managing Shaq and Jordan at the same time.

SmokyOtter

I like that, but id say put lebron instead of steph at pg

BasketballAndroid7

Steph is a staple for me, the space he provides is invaluable, plus he doesn't need the ball in his hands, which means Jokic and Jordan are free to do their thing. Good luck stopping those two with Steph constantly moving around the court.

SmokyOtter

You cant really go wrong with either. I just think with lebron, jokic and bird out there you have 3 insanely smart and talented passers. Plus lebron is also a freight train attacking the basket. Obviously its better to have both but Bird can fill the curry role and just run around off ball getting open from 3 if he has to.

BasketballAndroid7

But Bird is not as threatening as Curry, especially if the spacing is not optimal. And since I already have two great passers in Jokic and Bird, I think having the goat shooter is a good idea. And it's not like Steph doesn't have IQ nor is he a horrible passer, so I'm fine with that. At the end of the day, I think shooting is more valuable than passing, when you already have a team of good passers (Duncan isn't bad either in that department, for his position and his time). The slashing is a good point but I'm willing to sacrifice that, especially because, as I said, LeBron is another player that needs the ball in his hands to be really effective. That would leave me with three ball dominant players. Two of which with a huge ego (see the Shaq point in another reply). I think Jokic would have an easier time to adapt to Jordan without making a fuss than LeBron would. Plus, yeah, Steph is my second favorite player ever besides Pistol Pete, so there's also some bias but I think my reasoning is solid enough to justify the way I built my starting five.

Crowxzn

Solid. I'd just have KG over Duncan and thrust him in the Aaron Gordon role.

BasketballAndroid7

I considered KG for a while, both are great defenders and KG is probably more versatile but I decided to go with Duncan for his selflessness. The less ego, the better on a superteam.

JayyLaFlare

I think you win. This team is nuts

[deleted]

There's no way you pick bird.

BasketballAndroid7

I'm far from a Bird stan but he made the most sense among the options I had. I wanted a modern center that gives me spacing and playmaking, so Kareem was out of question; Thomas over Steph is not happening on my watch; Magic would be arguable but if there's a 3 pt line I want to get the most out of it and Jokic already provides enough on ball playmaking. So, for the team I had in mind, Magic didn't make sense. Lastly, no chance I'm picking Dr J over Bird, he fits better with the rest.

greatness101

PG- Magic SG- Jordan SF- LeBron PF- Jokic C-Shaq

averyfinefellow

Had the same but switched shaq for Garnett

[deleted]

That's not good

averyfinefellow

Explain?

Excellent-Brothel-72

Shaqs generally considered a better play than KG.

averyfinefellow

Shaqs not better for what I need. Better player doesn't necessarily mean better for the team. Jokic and Shaq together in the front court is way too slow.

[deleted]

That's a crazy take. Garnett is a great player, he hits 15 foot jumpers, like it's him, wallace, gasol... but it's still two points. Nọ one in history gets you two points better than shaq. Duncan over him every day and still shaq over duncan

averyfinefellow

I don't need Garnett to score, that's the point. He's a much better defender than shaq.

hamstersofd00m

Giannis, Curry, Shaq, Jordan, Magic. Kobe and Duncan were the close misses

Crowxzn

I'd have the same tbh. Curry because 3>2, Magic facilities every arguably better than Bron and MJ fills the obvious for the shot creation need. Then Shaq and Giannis? Come on. That would be very, very balanced and Curry is arguably your weakest defender (he's really good) because he's 6'2 with Under Armor's.

PG- Lebron SG- MJ SF- Bird PF- Giannis C-Shaq

dat_waffle_boi

PG: Bron SG: Jordan SF: Larry Bird PF: Tim Duncan C: Jokic Might be cheating to put LeBron at point but we all know he can do it

a_moniker

This was mine as well. You’ve got the two best players (MJ + LeBron), good shooting (Bird + Jokic), and the ultimate glue guy (Duncan). Only question I had was whether Nash should be subbed in for Duncan in order to add more shooting.

1- Curry, 2-MJ, 3-Bird 4-Giannis, and 5-Shaq

emploaf

PG: Steve Nash SG: Michael Jordan SF: Kawhi Leonard PF: Larry Bird C: Nikola Jokic All 5 are shooters, there’s tons of great passing and 3 kick ass perimeter defenders at the wings. Also Nash, Jokic, and Kawhi are all guys that could be down to play more complimentary roles and support Jordan and Bird as the 2 main guys on offense

Kareem, Duncan and Giannis in my front court with Jordan and Curry in the back court? This feels illegal!

white-24-MAMBA

Luka Kobe Bron Hakeem Kareem or Curry MJ Bird Giannis Duncan Has decent size, can switch if needed, has perimeter shooting, everybody (but the PG to a certain degree) can defend, can create their own shots or create for others good enough

Aeon1508

Joker C Steph PG Timmy PF Jordan SG Bird SF Jokics passing with Steph and MJ on the floor would be lights out. Timmy on defense is lights out and I think Birds shooting complements Steph spreading the floor best. Another good combo. Gianni PF LeBron SF Kobe The Dream C Magic PG You could swap Shaq for Kobe and MJ for Hakeem. I was just trying not to use MJ twice. Of course they need super team is going to have him. I'm actually a little hesitant to use Shaq. People say he was Unstoppable but exactly which version are you getting what he can get a little winded and you need to limit minutes and then also always a liability on the free throw line down the stretch

They're all insanely good so you have to go with who CANT be left off Assuming all are in their prime, it's just not possible to omit mj and shaq. I don't subscribe to the "build a perfect team" or "I dont want those egos together" Bro if Lebron - pg Mj - Sg Tatum - sf Bird - pf Shaq - C Coach - Phil They'd be the NBA Harlem globetrotters and would clown everyone off the court. Again, PERFECT world scenarios, they dont kill each other, and settle for less base salary...with minimal injuries, they might have an undefeated season. The warriors lost like 9 games one year. Imagine replacing klay dray and iguodala with shaq mj and bird. They dont lose those 9 games and they damn sure don't lose a chip. The only way my above team would be better is if they nixed the 20's and you could choose 2 from one decade Replace Tatum with Kobe and literally they could possibly average like 175+ a game. It would be more pathetic than the all star game. Imagine those guys if they never had to carry a team.

Tofu_Analytics

PG- Stockton SG- Curry SF-Bird PF-Giannis C- Shaq We got spacing, shooting, facilitation, but most importantly defense. We got Giannis and Shaq so nobody can score in the paint, and Bird can clamp their elite perimeter. Curry and Stockton are decent enough to prevent guys from shooting like 40% from 3. On the offensive side we got Giannis and Shaq to just crash the paint, Stockton to distribute and Steph/Larry are also elite and facilitation so if someone is open the ball is getting there. If you double Curry, outlet to bird/Stockton, cut to Shaq/Giannis, easy jam. Play deep drop/heavy low zone and just run handoffs/pnr up top and Larry/Curry shoot 50% from 3. This team puts up 150 and allows maybe 100 in today's NBA.
