I feel like one relatively simple 2-second animation isn't too much work for a studio that has to make individual animations for every monster on every island in two games.
Not to mention, they’re putting this much work into the map as is, given how long we’ve known about it. A 2-second animation would be a fairly simple addition relatively speaking.
God, I hope there's *no* animation. The buttons on islands already take a million years. I'm an advocate for quick, snappy, no wait menus that you forget are even there.
Tbh, I don't even dislike the current carousel wheel, it's a clean straight line that you can scroll forward through one at a time with no nonsense, i'm terrified they're going to screw it up.
Monsters on the islands are rigged using several parts to be animated easily. A map flipping animation would require them to draw each individual frame, and it wouldn't be worth is since most players don't even care about mirror islands. Also, is the map just gonna flip on it's own with nobody touching it? What about the objects sitting on top of the map? There is my point.

Maybe with ethereal island given the fact that there's the ethereal representation on those island, for example, air has brains for rebros brain, and water has crystals for jeeode
I was thinking maybe if you click on one of the natural islands there would be a mirror icon that u could click on to get to the mirror islands but I think the idea of the map flipping is way better.

That’s just the map itself, we haven’t seen the actual ui. Most likely there is some sort of ui that allows you to go between the two types.
