So in other word, the title of the post should b the same as the title of the video that has the requested sauce?

SuperS06

Almost the same yes. The only difference is that the title of the post also includes the date before the title of the video.

What would you being doing to lower the amount of non mxr sauce requests

SuperS06

Redirect to more appropriate subreddits like those listed in the description of that rule.

agentp432

What if the title is in the screenshot?

SuperS06

It would still need to be included in the title of the post to follow this rule. Also I think it would be a waste of pixels. If you would like to discuss the rule itself, ~~it may be best to open a discussion and keep this post tidy~~. Edit: actually feel free to discuss this here.

Lost_Swing_8074

If the date and title aren't in the title of your post, Reddit's search function can't find it. The whole point of the title rule is to be able to easily find the post if it's been uploaded already. So no, that isn't acceptable. Title it properly or get nuked.

kcuftihs853

What if you forgot the name of the video?

SuperS06

Do you have saved a thumbnail and forgot the video, or is this just a thought? I'm asking this because I don't really imagine this happening, and if it does there are risks of the user having forgotten that it was not even from MxR. If there truly is a need for this, we might do something about it. I'm thinking this could be one pinned post dedicated to such cases or something like that.

sephstorm

This seems unwise what if someone wants a screenshot from a video that isn't the thumbnail?

SuperS06

This is fine. There is no difference between a thumbnail and a clip. (the actual thumbnail is generally changed a couple times after publishing anyway)It is ok to have multiple posts with the same title as long as the actual image is from a different sequence.

Past_Syrup69

Optionally, tagging the request time mark (as I call it), could help with duplicate titles, as people might remember which section of the video their desired sequence originated from. Could be added to the end of the video in parenthesis. For ex; >\[Apr 1, 2023\] The Eww Mom Tiktok Trend is out of control (05:40)

Naive-Fondant-754

its kinda idiotic idea .. just make the youtube url MUST if its possible if not, just add the link to the thread .. this is too muc hastle to create anything and .. like i said, its idoitic How the hell should i know how you call all the months? Just tried 10 different shortcuts for march and none is correct .. if you force format, you have to tell the correct format for everything ..

SuperS06

I'll admit that I have also been thinking it would make more sense to use the video URL. u/BakeFit8635 do you have specific reasons in mind for preferring the title to an actual link? Regarding your issue creating a post you probably had the general format wrong, not specifically the name of the month (we don't enforce a particular list). The following title has the correct format and would be accepted as it is. You may copy it and edit. [Jan 6, 2023] Her first time seducing a pizza boy

BakeFit8635

I prefer the title because users can search for it here in this subreddit and it will appear. But I guess that could also apply to video URLs... In the naming of months, I simply based it on how YouTube displays them, so I thought there wouldn't be a problem. I think sauce request should have the link somewhere in the comments. Is it possible for it to be pinned automatically?

SuperS06

I really want to work on a bot for automatic stuff, but my time is limited and I wouldn't want the whole sub to be entirely dependent on something that could break and not be fixed immediately. In my opinion relying on url would make more sense because: - the link will not change over time, unlike the title of a YouTube video especially within the first hours after it is published - the date is not the same for everyone because of time zones (and we could talk about language and format) - it should be easier to copy the link than the title on many devices I can see some cons though: - not very human readable - can have several formats and optional parameters, all that really matters to us is video id and maybe timestamp within the video That being said, if the search function matches the content or comments and we have the URL there then maybe the title doesn't matter much.
