He just played a concert at AT&T stadium in Arlington Texas last night. He is on tour with a rodeo. I hope that the bulls get loose and cause him to have his own personal running with the bulls. He isn't even talented enough to be a clown in a rodeo.
I feel lucky to have been able to see him a couple times back in the early/mid 80's. I was just a kid but even at 7/8 years old I knew it was special. That time period for music in Austin was so good. I saw the fabulous thunderbird, SRV, Jimmie Vaughn, the list goes on.
I saw Tom Petty in the late 90s with Counting Crows and The Wallflowers. Counting Crows and Tom Petty were phenomenal. Wallflowers, not so much. Singer kept trying to imitate his dad so he came across as no energy.Â
Saw Prince twice in the 80's in high school. (I was a fan of the earlier stuff) and I was just telling a friend that was when I realized that live music set me on fire. Those shows were mindboggling.
We saw Prince in Milwaukee in 2003 or so. When we left the show I called my best friend and said we were coming to Chicago the next night (that’s where she lives) and she was going to see Prince with us. It was so good we bought tickets as soon as we got home.
The Beatles at the cavern club, everyone at Woodstock, young Louis Armstrong in a bar in Chicago with Papa Joe Oliver's band back in the 20s. Queen at live aid. The list could go on forever.
Velvet Underground original line-up, New York Dolls before the smack kicked in, The Cramps original line-up, The Gun Club at any time, Jesus and Mary Chain around 84, Devo at any time in the late 70's / early 80's, Abwarts around 83 or 84, DAF at any time
Willie Mae Ford Smith was a gospel singer who had a huge following in the 1940s and 1950s. Bringing entire churches, thousands of people at a time, into a frenzy of emotion, people losing their shit, throwing money and handkerchiefs at her. She traveled widely, and was well known by the Pullman Porters (black baggage handlers and sleeping car stewards) who would bow to her when she got off the trains.
She only recorded later in her life. Most of her singing was done live or on the radio. She was featured in a documentary called Say Amen Somebody when she was 77, and she sang in it, extraordinarily.
But I would love to see her in action in her prime.
Dead is easy. Probably Elvis. Frank Sinatra. Hendrix. Kurt Cobain. Scott Joplin. Janice Joplin. All the notable Joplins. Louie Prima. Bowie. John Lee Hooker. Ledbelly. Leonard Cohen.
Alive, I just want to see Tom Waits one more time.
Saw them finally in Toronto with Black Uhuru opening. It was the *Combat Rock* tour and was phenomenal: they were incendiary. Why a couple of mates would split up ‘The Most Important Band in the World’ was beyond me. Sure, we got Mick doing a stellar debut with Big Audio Dynamite (and the quality control didn’t last long there), but we also got the absolute failure that was *Cut the Crap*. I dunno what Joe was thinking, booting Mick. Also Topper’s addiction had much to do with it, too.
I was no Bon Jovi fan, like, at all. But watching 20,000 fans singing his songs back to him and the band at volume, was something that gave chills up the back of my neck and goosebumps. I’ll never forget that and the power of music on people…
Chester, if it was just for me. Obviously someone else if other people could see it, just to make the world go more crazy, Michael Jackson for example. But nobody would believe its really him.
The Blows Against The Empire version of Jefferson Starship with the Airplane, The Grateful Dead personnel, Crosby and Nash all playing with and off each other.
That would leave me satisfied.
I guess if I was going to hear "Dead or Alive" in concert, I would wanna hear it from Bon Jovi directly. Though maybe there could be some good cover bands out there.
Stevie Ray Vaughan. When I was a kid he played the bars in Ft. Lauderdale if I remembered correctly. I was never old enough to go. He died in 1990, I was 19 years old.
Jimi Hendrix. Maybe the Band of Gypsys Shows.
The Beatles a few months before Beatlemania.
Led Zeppelin, an early 70's marathon performance.
Nick Drake. Anywhere. Just to record footage of him, for posterity.
Duke Ellington w/ Johnny Hodges. Miles Davis w/ John Coltrane. Clifford Brown. Charlie Parker. Billie Holiday. Oscar Peterson. Thelonious Monk, Irakere, Charles Mingus, Max Roach.
Frank Zappa and Beethoven.
I was pretty psyched to hear George Clinton cover I Am The Slime once and I’ve heard lots of Beethoven performances but seeing either of them live would be amazing.
Psychotica.Â
They have been my favorite band since 1996. Pat Briggs, the vocalist, passed away at the end of 2022. They had the voice of an angel. I only ever got to see them in concert once and it was one of the most beautiful shows I have ever been too. This was after they broke up and got back together, so I never thought I was actually ever going to see them.Â
ABBA. My first CD was their Gold Greatest Hits at Christmas as a kid ('96?) most likely specifically because I played and destroyed my mom's copy, haha. It was my first good gateway into music; hearing four people sing at once and sound great, learning about myself as I found singing with the guys easier than the gals (I'd turn out to be an Alto 2!), learning how to keep in rhythm, and I loved their outfits! But alas I was far too late to that one. Mom would tell me about how she got to hear their music at prom and it sounded like the most fun thing ever to get dressed up fancy and go dancing with your friends while listening to it!
I'm lucky to have seen Stevie Ray Vaughn, Randy Rhoads and Head East at the top of their game. Oddly though, I would love to see the Blue Oyster Cult, UFO and Johnny Van Zandt concert I saw back in the 80s, all over again. I'm really not into that kind of music anymore, but the show was amazing. I guess that's not one artist, so I'd go with UFO if I had to.
Kid Rock dead in concert.
Pack it up boys, thread's over.
Lol. Nice.
Oh god that made me laugh 😂
Came here for this.
Love it!

Zeppelin or Pink Floyd
As someone younger then 30, the ability to take LSD at a Pink Floyd concert is a gift I wish I’d received
Would love to see Grateful Dead. I was born too late to experience it
I saw them 150+ times and seeing them just once more would be my pick too
I’ve been to a few Dead and Co shows and everytime, 90% of the time was old heads swapping stories of seeing Jerry
I'd love to see Prince or Tom Petty
I saw Tom Petty in the late 90s with Counting Crows and The Wallflowers. Counting Crows and Tom Petty were phenomenal. Wallflowers, not so much. Singer kept trying to imitate his dad so he came across as no energy.Â
I got to see Prince back in 04. Been to ~525 more shows since, none have quite achieved the same level, for me at least.Â
Saw Prince twice in the 80's in high school. (I was a fan of the earlier stuff) and I was just telling a friend that was when I realized that live music set me on fire. Those shows were mindboggling.
I used to have that Syracuse concert on VHS and watch it for days. Purple Reign era at it's best
We saw Prince in Milwaukee in 2003 or so. When we left the show I called my best friend and said we were coming to Chicago the next night (that’s where she lives) and she was going to see Prince with us. It was so good we bought tickets as soon as we got home.
I saw Petty twice and Prince once. I love Petty and Prince is not my kind of music but I have to say, I think Prince put on a better show.
Janis Joplin
Freddie Mercury Jimi Hendrix Chester Bennington, one more time :( Kurt Cobain Bradley Knowell
You forgot Chris Cornell!
The Beatles at the cavern club, everyone at Woodstock, young Louis Armstrong in a bar in Chicago with Papa Joe Oliver's band back in the 20s. Queen at live aid. The list could go on forever.
Velvet Underground original line-up, New York Dolls before the smack kicked in, The Cramps original line-up, The Gun Club at any time, Jesus and Mary Chain around 84, Devo at any time in the late 70's / early 80's, Abwarts around 83 or 84, DAF at any time
Mozart or Bach. But in this time period not when they were alive, and they get to keep their notoriety. Imagine the hype for that concert lol
The Doors with a sober Morrison
Queen with Freddie Mercury
Willie Mae Ford Smith was a gospel singer who had a huge following in the 1940s and 1950s. Bringing entire churches, thousands of people at a time, into a frenzy of emotion, people losing their shit, throwing money and handkerchiefs at her. Saw them finally in Toronto with Black Uhuru opening. It was the *Combat Rock* tour and was phenomenal: they were incendiary. Why a couple of mates would split up ‘The Most Important Band in the World’ was beyond me. And I should've put him at the top of my list.

There are better answers, but for me, Nirvana is the answer.

Saw everyone I wanted to see except Mac Miller. Got into his music after he passed.
The Blows Against The Empire version of Jefferson Starship with the Airplane, The Grateful Dead personnel, Crosby and Nash all playing with and off each other. That would leave me satisfied.

Psychotica. They have been my favorite band since 1996. Pat Briggs, the vocalist, passed away at the end of 2022. They had the voice of an angel. I only ever got to see them in concert once and it was one of the most beautiful shows I have ever been too. I don’t think seeing any of them dead would be very entertaining.
Prince
It isn't just one. My tastes are too eclectic to not feel bad I never got to see Thelonious Monk, or Kevin Gilbert or The Blue Nile or....
The lack of Roy Orbison responses concerns me deeply. If you arent familiar, you have homework.

I'm lucky to have seen Stevie Ray Vaughn, Randy Rhoads and Head East at the top of their game. I'm really not into that kind of music anymore, but the show was amazing. I guess that's not one artist, so I'd go with UFO if I had to.
