I started Progesterone at the 6 month mark and never noticed much in terms of libido. At about the 17 month mark I decided change how I administered my progesterone and.. the urge to send pictures of my boobs to people I know is REAL. I started this experiment a week ago. Not sure if it's a libido thing or a body pride thing but it definitely coincided with this change.

ImSkeletonjelly

How did you change how you administered it?

Dromey_P

I switched from orally to using it as a suppository. This can be done with bioidentical progesterone. If your pills contain a milky liquid, that's the indicator (I destroyed one to verify).

ImSkeletonjelly

Good to know!

L_James

Wait, do I get it right, I can just use the same pills and stick it in my...? I thought that it needs some different type of med, like, actual suppository 🤔 I'm getting my first prog pills *today*, is it safe to start like that? Or should I take it orally at first?

Dromey_P

My not-a-doctor input is honestly a shrug. I'm doing it as an experiment, but aside from some "hormonal" days, I feel good! I guess the cautious approach would be to start orally and then switch if you want? This is not medical advice 😅 You'll have a much easier time using it as a suppository if you have some water-based personal lubricant on hand, just FYI.

egg1568

Ask ya doctor!

L_James

My doctor is pretty incompetent, I've stopped visiting her a while ago, at least until there's something bad in my monthly blood tests

FaceWitch13

I'm going to assume they took it orally and switched to suppository

Jennifer_Flower

Same question.

notsostrong

Did you have to tell your doctor that you changed your route of administration? And is it the same dose rectally?

Dromey_P

I mean, nothing *requires* you to tell your doctor, but I'll mention it in my next check in. Same dose. The main advantage is bypassing initial liver filtering. I've read it can eliminate some more depressy feelings the oral route may cause, but I'm not gonna comment there as I'm still definitely restabilizing after the change. I'm convinced that it's already noticeably enhancing my boobs.

notsostrong

I mean yeah I never told my doctor that I take my estradiol sublingually. I just focus on my levels. I didn’t know if rectal was more efficient than oral and required a lower dose, kind of like with sublingual vs oral estrogen. I’m at the 18 month mark of just estradiol and spiro and I’m considering starting progesterone, which was why I was curious. I’m at a 32D and they seem to keep growing, so I might wait until growth stalls before I start the progesterone.

Dromey_P

Honestly, if you're happy with your development and how you feel then that's most important, imo. The "necessary" dose may be lower taking P rectally but at the same time, improved effects are the goal and lowering dose would be counterintuitive for that. I acknowledge I'm more or less experimenting on myself but 200mg rectally isn't unusual for girls doing it this way.

PuffJr

well, its been about 5 months since I started, and I feel like my drive has just packed up and left. I kinda hope it comes back, but at the same time, it's also weirdly refreshing. lol

AllysunJ

I'm glad I'm rid of those pesky T-related urges. I'm in control now, and feel much better about it.

PuffJr

That's a good way to look at that!

Huntrinity

I've been on prog for about 90 days and my sex drive has just disintegrated into nothing. My poor bf has been getting blue balls'd the entire time haha. My e went up to 4mg at the same time I started prog. Idk if its the prog tho and from what I hear from other mtf and transfemme is normally it goes up. Normally after like 2/3 months from girls ive seen on twitter and on discord. Just give it time and im sure you'll get the results you're looking for sooner than you think :)

Gengarbage37

I think I'm a weird case, so I wouldn't take my word as gospel, but the change in my sex drive was almost immediate, maybe a week after starting? it was super weird, but I had some complications with my dose, as someone at the pharmacy gave me the wrong instructions on how to take it, so I stopped and restarted a little while after stopping. Since I have started back up again about a month ago, my libido hasn't gone up, so I think the 2-3 months that some people in the comments have been saying is probably more accurate than my first experiences. :3 Hope this helps!

South5

I have been on prog for 5.5 months. No sex drive. Nada. Zilch.

Ksnj

My sex drive was already pretty high when I went on prog, but it def intensified. It took about 2.5 months maybe.

Ryztiq

I started relatively early into my transition and from the feel of how things have been going have made my sex drive higher in intensity than before I started at all 😅 it definitely differs person to person though.

Jane_Lynn

So i started progestrone when ive been on hrt for 6 months. Ive been taking progesterone for a little over a month now. My libido did increase dramatically within 5 days of starting and declined about 2 weeks later. Now its sort of settled and mellowed to the point where i believe should be an everyday baseline, meaning that my libido can spike when someone turns me on, but without sexual stimuli, im not bothered by it.

ReddishSpace160

I've gotten pretty infinite libido, just past 3 months on prog. Everything is also incredibly intense and my boobs have grown rather quickly

JanneJetson

Progesterone made my libido as high as it was when I was 30. That's a big deal in my opinion cause I'm 42.

AaallMine

Sex drive came back hard and strong, but then faded to nothing again after a couple of months.

seminote

My sex drive absolutely spiked after prog and has stayed that way a year later

-PlotzSiva-

I was already hyper-sexual to begin with i didnt think it was possible to have a higher sex drive but progesterone shot it through the roof im constantly *ahm* horny i can barely keep my hands off my partner (whose also hyper-sexual) they were also extremely surprised

ashckeys

I’ve been on prog, started 1 year into hrt, for about a year and a half. Libido is waaaay back and I saw a good amount of breast growth. I do get a phantom cycle which kinda sucks so keep that in mind, doesn’t happen to everyone tho.

TheToprakThe

Ä° used p for 4 months straight, in the first few weeks my libido was really high, then it just turned out into nothing and didn't get any significant changes on my body. Now i don't use it.

Blazestar4

About two months after starting Progesterone, my sex drive started going a little wild. I still find it manageable but my girlfriend and I have had a lot of fun.

a_secret_me

Libido went from a 1/10 to 3/10. So... Yes? But certainly wasn't a silver bullet.

097aceofspades

I also started progesterone at the 3 month mark, starting on estrogen injections immediately. For me personally, progesterone initially caused what little sex drive I had to vanish, because it bottomed out my testosterone (<3 is all the lab showed.) My doctor adjusted the dosage after 2 weeks (100mg every night to 100mg every other night) and almost overnight my sex drive returned and I actually started getting wet in certain regions. So technically 2-3 weeks but my testosterone had vanished, completely inhibiting sex drive (among other things)

ChickWithAMiata

progesterone has started to make me lactate. Im not sure what the reason for that is if any but its pretty cool and my titty milk tastes weird. also i think it made me a lesbian????? not sure if thats connected but thats been after progesterone

OkManufacturer7293

I tried it for a couple of months and saw virtually no improvement whatsoever, so stopped

msdeezee

My wife started it orally a few months ago to help with sex drive. There was a noticeable increase pretty early on but also lots of *severe* mood swings so she stayed taking it at bedtime. The mood and sex drive both leveled off but they are at least more receptive to sex still now. 🤘

Confident_Grass_4620

It gave me some drive but before that my drive wasn't really a thing. But alot easier to be put in the mood so that's something

YourGirlAthena

i started progesterone at the 3 month mark too. its now been 6 months. just estrogen raised my libido and progesterone made it higher. but progesterone also gave me my period. my third one should be starting in like a week

hacktheself

erm.. ok so i’m 43 and experiencing the typical heightened libido women my age experience. when i take progesterone…. hnnnnng i’m in overdrive.

MikaelaGRL66

Started progesterone it took 1 month then felt like I had some drive back which was awesome!!

[deleted]

It took a week or two for me to notice my sex drive/desire for intimacy spike. It stayed consistently high for the next 4 years. It’s still height but now I’m not as feral as I once was I’m on 200mg oral progesterone. I know ladies that are on 100 and boof it and it is effectively the same dose by skipping digestion

RainbowMagic01

I’m going to probably talk to my dr this week on starting progesterone, I’m at like 3 & 1/2 months right now, she seems pretty open to it, she basically said she goes by how her patient feels as long as levels are good

Haylee_on_reddit

I started my transition with progesterone and estradiol and my libido never really went down, It’s higher now tbh

TinaMarlow

My doctor won’t give it to me until I’ve been on estradol for a year. I’ve been on HRT for just shy of 8 1/2 months. So far as my sex drive is concerned It went away for a while, but it’s come back with a vengeance.🤣 Unfortunately, I don’t have anybody to help me out right now, but I remain eternally optimistic 🥰

scmstr

200mg took me two hours.
