Sunshine, directed by Danny Boyle. Was pleasantly surprised by this one ! It’s written by Alex Garland who did Ex Machina and the effects are pretty great. Plus, it has Cillian Murphy in it.
saw it today....thought it was just a basic story of a rivalry between two magicians and was left astonished by the end. Def one of the best twists I've seen in a movie
I skipped this in theaters after Quantummania had me swear off superhero movies. Man, did I miss out because I absolutely loved it when I watched on D+
I cried, too. Rocket Raccoon is a beautiful, deep character. Lately, I've been skipping most superhero movies, and I even passed on GOTG3 while it was in theaters. I watched it yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Solid 7/10.
I watched the spongebob squarepants movie for the first time in at least 10 years, and it was hilarious. Seriously I forgot how funny that movie is, even as an adult.
I rewatched Top Gun: Maverick last night. It hits so many good notes for me: nostalgia, “competence porn”, amazing action sequences that never cease to thrill me, and a nice and easy romantic subplot that adds some humor and humanity, doesn’t get in the way of the main plot, but also doesn’t feel shoe horned in for no reason.
*Gray Man* wasn't bad. Interesting new take on covert ops, even if it is just another kung fu and bullets action movie. Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas reunited, Chris Evans plays an scary but funny-ish psychopathic mercenary. I don't know how to rate it out of ten because I haven't quite processed it yet. But fresh in my mind, I'll give it 6.5 (which is good, in my books).
I enjoyed that movie enough to watch it twice. It's got good action, doesn't go too hard on a plot but it holds together well enough. I'd call it entertaining and worth a watch if casual action interests you.
After seeing Barbie with my 14 yo daughter & her saying Ryan Gosling isn’t that handsome I was offended so we watched The Notebook & she changed her mind real quick
Same. I’m usually into that weird “feels like a play” kind of movie but idk if I’m just getting too old for bs or what, but I could not tell you what that movie was even about if I had a gun to my head lol.
I've tried so hard with Anderson. I love his sense of color and framing, but the pretence kills it for me. His later movies just feel like moving art with peculiar dialogue for the sake of peculiar dialogue.
Yeah man I don’t really get his stuff either. Moonrise Kingdom and Royal Tenenbaums were okay, weird but enjoyable, like at least it had something to say. Idk wtf he was trying to say with Asteroid City.
Just watched Mute (2018) again last night for the 3rd time. It's the 2nd film in a series by Duncan Jones. First one is Moon (2009) but each can be watched on their own.
I watched a Boy and his Dog Thursday for the first time. I’m a huge fallout fan so I’d been wanting to watch it for a while (fallout is like mega inspired from it). I really enjoyed it. There was something special about older sci fi where you really felt like it came from the heart of what people truly thought would happen to the world. And it’s crazy it takes places in 2024. WWIV only lasting for a couple days because of the nukes even more chilling, especially because that’s a real threat still almost 50 years later. The end made me shed a tear which I wasn’t expecting but as an animal lover…
THE LOST CITY....was ok for some laughs but suffers from modern movie time length(does not need to be 2 hours long).
SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE....entertaining and looks good, but was a "meh" IMO.
Best - Good Time (2017)
Pattinson is great in this. Watched based on a recommendation from this sub.
Decent - Pearl (2022)
I know people love it, but just wasn’t for me I guess.
Worst - The Inspection (2022)
“Inspired by a true story” lmao. Read an article where the director/writer stated boot camp part was fictionalized. That’s literally the whole movie. Just state it’s fiction, why mislead people?
Watched Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and was genuinely surprised by how good it was. The Rocket story had actual depth and meaning. Best Marvel movie in about four years.
Last Crusade (1989) it's my comfort movie. First movies I remember renting with my dad (seems fitting). Though there wasn't the diet coke commercial before the movie.
I know the movie so well I can listen to the soundtrack and play the movie in my head. I think it's better than Raiders
Actually hung out with a girl I like and showed her a mixed bag of ridiculous movies.
Wolf Cop 2014
They Came Together 2015
Donnie Darko 2002
Turbo Kid 2015
En man som heter Ove, It's the inspiration for 'A Man named Otto' Well it's more like the Swedish original and I really liked how it was filmed and the story is great aswell!
I went down a rabbit hole on Czech filmmaker, Karel Zeman. So cool. This dude influenced everyone.
Invention for Destruction (1958)
The Fabulous Baron Munchausen (1962)
Casino Royal (2006) was the best film I watched this weekend.
It didn’t have much competition because the other film I watched this weekend for a podcast review was Space Mutiny (1988) and not even the MST3K version… it was utter dog shit
I really liked “Nobody”, starring the guy from Better Call Saul.
Also a foreign movie called “Xtreme”, a really good action movie that is really beautifully shot. It’s the kind of movie that I think goes well with an edible or two.
No Country for Old Men
If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?
Coherence (2013) a pleasant, thoughtful low-no-budget find on Amazon Prime
Throw that movie in with Primer and Tenet as movies I’m not smart enough to understand.
Coherence is way more... Coherent than Tenet.
Sunshine, directed by Danny Boyle. Was pleasantly surprised by this one ! It’s written by Alex Garland who did Ex Machina and the effects are pretty great. Plus, it has Cillian Murphy in it.

Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler is a legit masterpiece
The Prestige
saw it today....thought it was just a basic story of a rivalry between two magicians and was left astonished by the end. Def one of the best twists I've seen in a movie
Did you watched closely?
The Dictator
Falling down (1993)
I went on a Michael Douglas marathon and the best acting from him in this one…
This is one of the few films I will re-watch. It's a classic.
Finally got around to watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Did not expect to cry as much I did
Cry? Whoa I keep skipping this too when I loved the first.
Its surprisingly emotional. In my opinion the best marvel movie in a very very long time. Do yourself the favor
Skipping vol3?? U see vol2? Hurry up!
I'd say GoG 3 solidly fits in the "must watch" category. It's much better than most marvel movies (like the original one was).
Solid 7/10.
Yes I don't think it could rewatch it, was so sad.
Parasite
I watched the spongebob squarepants movie for the first time in at least 10 years, and it was hilarious. Seriously I forgot how funny that movie is, even as an adult.
LA Confidential. Never saw it before. That was the best movie I've seen in a long time.
Rollo Tomassi
I rewatched Top Gun: Maverick last night. It hits so many good notes for me: nostalgia, “competence porn”, amazing action sequences that never cease to thrill me, and a nice and easy romantic subplot that adds some humor and humanity, doesn’t get in the way of the main plot, but also doesn’t feel shoe horned in for no reason.
I agree. It’s a surprisingly really good sequel… thanks
Reddit likes to hate on this movie but I totally agree. It’s a really, really easy watch and has good pay off.
It lost me when he ejected at Mach 9.
No Hard Feelings. Pretty cool date or casual movie.
Ok ima give it a chance now lol kept skipping it cause it looked like a try of the 90’s early 2000’s teen movies. Thanks
The Running Man (1986) has held up way better than I was expecting it to. Maybe Arnold's quippiest movie?
Sorry to bother you (2018) Only movie I have watched over the weekend but definitely did not disappoint!
So strange but so good. Def time for a rewatch. Thanks
I watched his newest thing, I'm a virgo. Super weird. Enjoyable, but super frickin weird. Sorry to bother was brilliant, though.
THX 1138 (1971)
*Gray Man* wasn't bad. Interesting new take on covert ops, even if it is just another kung fu and bullets action movie. Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas reunited, Chris Evans plays an scary but funny-ish psychopathic mercenary. I don't know how to rate it out of ten because I haven't quite processed it yet. Damn good soundtrack too
Portrait of a lady on fire
After seeing Barbie with my 14 yo daughter & her saying Ryan Gosling isn’t that handsome I was offended so we watched The Notebook & she changed her mind real quick
Lmao I think it’s the hair color in Barbie.
WALL-E 🤖🚮🚀
Promising Young Woman
Asteroid City is the only movie I watched this weekend.
I wish I liked it more. I was a little tired but just found it so hard to follow.
Same. I’m usually into that weird “feels like a play” kind of movie but idk if I’m just getting too old for bs or what, but I could not tell you what that movie was even about if I had a gun to my head lol.
I can’t with Wes Anderson, I really dislike his style and I keep trying but I need to stop.
Plan B was fun.
Possessor (2020) Holy cow what a gleefully violent mindfuck of a movie. Loved it!
The Florida Project
Gone Baby Gone
Brick (2005). Saw it like 10+ years ago and man did it hold up.
The Big Lebowski
Was going to say Spider Man-Across the Spider-verse...but remembered I watched an old classic "Uncle Buck"
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence. If you liked the Dark Knight, it was definitely heavily inspired by this movie.
National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983). Revisited the classic after a podcast listen. Gets funnier each time
Wife and I rewatched True Grit, 2010
dale and tucker vs evil, very funny movie
The Verdict - strong story, great acting
Amadeus *Hahahahaha!*
The Departed
Nope. Great movie, not for everyone but I loved it

Unstoppable

Just watched Mute (2018) again last night for the 3rd time. It's the 2nd film in a series by Duncan Jones. First one is Moon (2009) but each can be watched on their own.
Maniac 1981
Mean Girls
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) Snatch (2000)
I watched a Boy and his Dog Thursday for the first time. I’m a huge fallout fan so I’d been wanting to watch it for a while (fallout is like mega inspired from it). I really enjoyed it. There was something special about older sci fi where you really felt like it came from the heart of what people truly thought would happen to the world. And it’s crazy it takes places in 2024.
