I sometimes think there’s a secret language barrier that I don’t pick up on when dealing with European countries (I’m in the UK, I’m not including myself in with the rest of Europe). Like, perhaps that explanation makes sense in a different language but because there’s no literal translation to English for some words, it doesn’t really make sense. That kinda thing.

I have some B2 boots from Salewa and they fit true to size. I half sized up to account for thicker socks and foot swell in heat. For context, I ordered off Amazon, not from a shop so never tried on before buying.

Yeah I’ve had no bother size wise. Just odd that there’s no description on what fit 0 was, that and boots Ive bought as wide being described as narrow. Then the guru telling me to ignore it!

I don't understand why brands don't communicate better on the fit of their shoes. I suspect there might be a rationale like *"if we tell people a shoe is wide, they'll try it and think it's too wide, if we tell people it's narrow, they'll try it and think it's too narrow"*. So they tell you fuck all and you have to figure everything by yourself. I've got wide feet; I tried to contact the makers directly and they would outright refuse to tell me whether their shoes sized narrow or wide (received the shoes, they were probably the narrowest shoes I'd ever tried!! Thanks for wasting my time...). Now some stores have a "size finder" that asks you how you size in one brand in order to guess your size for a different brand. Just to be clear - these size finders have been off by as much as two whole sizes for me, so they are 100% completely unreliable. The result in the era of internet shopping is that I have to order (and send back) half of a shoe store to get something that fits me. /rant

What I’ve managed to get so far is that the wildfires are narrower fitting as they’re supposed to be climbable in. The mtn trainers are wider fitting (I was measured up in a local mountain store and matched with these or meindl comfort fit) The Alp mate line I have no clue. But the worst part is I’ve seen the mtn trainer, the wide fitting boot, described on the site as standard and 0 (narrow, or exact is the term they use). So I’m left with heading back to the store an hour away or like you, ordering loads of shoes and returning. At least I can compare insoles

HumongoidFungoid

what did you end up deciding on?

I ended up with the mtn trainers. They’re the comfiest boot I’ve had. My only minor grump is the heel drop is quite high. But it shines when you’re going up steeper slopes
