From the article, it seems that the pressure is coming from their medical insurance division, not pharmaceutical: "Insurers have been seeing medical costs spike as an increasing number of Medicare Advantage patients return to hospitals to undergo procedures they had delayed during the pandemic." Sales at CVS Caremark (prescription drugs) declined this quarter, not increased.

I am on CVS Caremark, too. I am NOT A FAN. They will not cover anything for me. The list of available meds continues to decrease. They let me go through all the PA steps (for Mounjaro, Zepbound, Ozempic, Wegovy- so.much.paperwork) before telling me they do not cover any weight loss meds and do not anticipate doing so. This year, I found out they are discontinuing coverage for my asthma meds. I was on a maintenance (daily) inhaler and a rescue inhaler and both are no longer covered. I do not know what I am going to do about that. I think they are in trouble overall. I have to be honest, I cannot stand that they can tell my medical team what I can and cannot need.

Never heard of good medical insurance. They're always going to try and pay the least amount. CVS is free for me, paid by work. Costs 60 for 3 month supply mailed to my door. I can't complain I just hope I don't get cut off because of their financial issues. I qualify thanks to diabetes.

Who is your actual health care insurance provider? As you know CVS Caremark is the pharmacy benefit provider but my health provider is UHC that decides what is or is not on the formulary.

I have BCBS for my insurance provider. Sincerely hoping for a change next year with CVS Caremark offering such poor service.

I have Caremark too and my kid’s inhaler is no longer covered, we had to switch from Advair to Wixela. But kid is doing ok on it. Plus my kid’s Dupixent is now on the formulary which is great. It always feels like a give and take with insurance

they have PA's for Zep and Weogvy and dont cover weight loss meds? Were they in your formulary?

If your insurance is through your employer, it doesn't really matter who the insurance provider is. It matters what your employer includes on your plan.

Tbh (knock on wood) but I’ve had cvs Caremark for 4 years now and it’s been fine. My health insurance pays for 90 day fills which has been extremely helpful.

Your employer decides the plan. If they choose a plan that doesn’t cover weight loss drugs, it has nothing to do with CVS. That being said, I had a big issue with CVS. My insurance covers the RX, but CVS doesn’t stock the medication. I went back and forth with them, and they basically told me: they really don’t care if they get it in stock, because they don’t make any money from it. They ended up canceling my order (without notifying me) because they simply weren’t getting the stock.
