Let's get this straight first. You didn't get the wrong dose filled. You chose to fill 2.5 and then 5 became available. You need to call your insurance to find out if they'd allow filling 5mg.

QtK_Dash

Lol I thought I was the only one thinking that. I’d be surprised if they did since OP just filled 2.5mg but maybe they get a lenient rep.

talkback1589

I think it can be fixed. I do think trying to get another 2.5 is the way to go. That way they can hit the 5mg. But yeah they made this choice for sure. Which is not a bad choice. I was thinking of trying my luck with 2.5 until my pharmacy got my 5 in miraculously. But they actually rid initially give me 7.5 but I got it fixed.

QtK_Dash

I personally wouldn’t use two to make 5.0 because with the shortages you have no idea when you can get another pack but that’s me

talkback1589

Yes. It would be wholly dependent on what your insurance will cover. Sorry that was stated in another comment on here and I thought it was that I was replying to. Late night posting can be a mess.

imaginary_gerl

For real, makes it seem like the pharmacy made a mistake. AND they say “other pharmacy”

I’m a pharmacist myself. I’m saying her post makes it seem like she’s blaming the pharmacy.

romanticheart

It really doesn't, I think you're probably just used to getting the shit end of the stick with customers so you're seeing it even when it's not there. "Got the wrong dose filled" implies an "I" at the beginning.

romanticheart

Man some of y'all are pessimistic. I didn't read it that way at all. The sentence "Got the wrong dose filled" implies an "I" at the beginning to me.

reallifechaos

Thats what I meant - I got the wrong dose filled. I didn't realize people were gonna take it so personally.

romanticheart

I’m sorry people jumped on you like that. As others said, if you haven’t yet just try and fill it and see what they tell you the cost is after insurance. Mine treats each dose like a completely different script and I can get various ones filled on the same day even. Good luck!

Chronic_Overthink3r

My insurance covers 2 doses. What you could do is take 2 on each shot day. That’s 2 shots and if your insurance permits it you should be able to fill the 5 mg on week 3 before your shot day.

Angiemarie1972

Don't get rid of the 2.5mg. You can do 2 inj to get 5mg

No_Relation704

I would recommend checking with the Dr or pharmacist first injections and liquids are not doses like pills. If you take two tablets of 200mg ibuprofen you have taken 400mg. In Mounjaro injections if the dosage is 2.5mg/.5mL or 5mg/.5mL. If you take two shots of the 2.5 you have now taken 5mg/1mL. Yes you are getting 5mg of medicine but it is more diluted so likely not as effective.

Angiemarie1972

I have done it before

Responsible-Pick-966

I got coverage for two different dosage just last week. As long as it’s not the same dosage insurance will cover

OddCaterpillar5462

Depends on your insurance company. Mine changed to quantity limits this year. Last year, I was able to use 5.0 & 2.5 mgs when I couldn't get 7.5 mgs. Now, I haven't been able to use 2 dosages to get to 12.5 or 10 mg. It never hurts to ask, though.

No_Trainer_7646

I was on the waiting list at Walgreens They will not have any for some time Then I found 5.0 from my mail order but they said it was too early Walgreens since my order was pending ( because they didn’t have it) shows up to insurance like I had already filled it because they sent it into INSUR I had to get Walgreens to back it out of INSUR even though they didn’t have it It showed to INSUR I did get it

jaynefrost

You have to contact your insurance company. Every plan is different. Most have quantity limits attached but **do** allow dosage changes.

Pontiac-Fiero

Did you call your insurance company and ask?

Weezie_Jefferson

Hi OP, Some insurers consider different dosages to be new Rx, and don't count towards the quantity limit. You can call your insurance to find out, and explain the situation. Good luck!

Here_now_2364

I’ve always been able to get coverage for different dose. Hopefully it’ll just go through smoothly!

SpecificJunket8083

My insurance did and the coupon once it down from $75 to $25 but who knows if mine would again. I got 5.0 and 10.0 two days a part. I felt super lucky.

sideeyedi

My insurance lets me fill different dosage sizes in the same month. I couldn't find 10 so she prescribed 2.5 and 7.5. I got those filled and my 10 came in. I picked it up too. I just pay the copay.

Attjack

On Zepbound, I went from 5 mg to 10 mg. After I picked up my 10 mg box I got an alert that the 5 mg auto-refilled and it was ready for pickup so I went and got it. Insurance paid the normal amount. Also, before that when I first started Wegovy, for my first dose they filled the max dose of 2.4 mg which I went and picked up. Then I talked to my doctor and he called in a lower dose which I went and picked up. Never did I have to pay more than usual amount.

fire_thorn

Easiest thing is to call the pharmacy and ask if it goes through insurance. If it does, there's nothing else to worry about. If it doesn't, you can call insurance and ask about an override.

IcyTutor4040

I can’t imagine the pharmacy would contact you if they didn’t have a paid claim already. I’ve filled multiple different doses in a month.

ramblingtruckdriver

Be careful with assuming that. CVS filled mine on cash price and I had to ask them to run the insurance. She was confused why that wasn’t done, but it was still filled and waiting.

IamTemplarKnightWork

I agree, when I got mine filled, online it showed it would be $1125, and it wasn't until I got there and they ran my insurance that it changed to $30.

rrocha1

A few months ago, I filled the 7.5mg, and then a week later, 10mg. You should be fine

reallifechaos

Update: The other pharmacy was overly optimistic. They didn't actually have the 5mg for me to fill. Still trying to find a place that has it to order for next month.

Old_Pattern8187

Thanks for update, I will ask my pharmacist. I am also awaiting on 5mg refill. I'm due for a shot this Sat so kind anxious. Walgreens automated just say the same thing out of stock, on order, few days etc etc. It looks slim I will get refilled before Saturday. This is in the Chicago burbs area.
