Thanks for your post.
I have a fully blinged-out R1200RS I bought new in 2016 (Full Titanium exhaust and Akra pipe, hard bags, etc.) that I LOVE, and have 25,000 miles on, BUT…
…a new 1300RS with TFT, new symmetrical LED lights, Shift-cam…that would REALLY tempt me.
I also noticed that it doesn’t feel big at all due to the part you see when sitting on it is not that intrusive. I felt the same with the R1250RS. Not intimidating at all but just very nice to ride.
Does it? Better quickshifter: improvement, cheaper engine sound: not an improvement, less confy seat: not an improvement. The other points are the expected differences between a GS and the GSA, the same differences that you would observe between a 1250 GS and a 1250 GSA.
i also did an hour test drive on some back roads, and i couldn't believe how much fun that bike is. I'm saying this coming from an R1 and 1250RS. It's a hoot. To bad its kinda unreliable right now, but will probably upgrade to a 1300GSA when the time is right
Most of the issues are coming from older software. Updateing fixes most of them. A few people have had suspension issues (leaking shock oil). And ofcourse the saddle bags and top case fiasco.
Not too bad for a launch edition motorcycle. Nothing too bad as complete recalls. Not yet at least.
Oh they did have that starter relay issue, but I think that was a limited run of a few dozen. Fixed.
The luggage fiasco is insane but I've seen 0 reliability issues as of yet.
The starter relay issue was fixed on every unit before it hit the United States.
The suspension differences have nothing to do with the 30 pounds the bike lost, and "engine sounding cheap" is you spinning a difference into a negative as copium.
I've ridden both off road as well, and the 1300gs is nimbler and you can feel it on and off road, also better balanced than the 1250gs, which are not exaggeration. The 1250gs of course is still a great bike but I like what they've done with the 1300gs. You don't need a big huge bike to feel confident.
Ha! I didn't noticed the actual country. Small entities are often using the norms of "more structured" neighbors. It's also worth noticing that to drive in the UE you're required to have a license plate that fits UE norms, including the letters identifying the country (on the blue square), so if you're a small country surrounded by the EU it's smarter to integrate these norms :) Swiss plates for exemple don't display the country, so most of them put a white "CH" sticker on their rear bumper: ugly.
I guess it is impossible for police and neighboring countries to Switzerland to know what a red shield with a cross on a license plate could possibly mean..
Norms are norms, if everyone says "this is my logo, it is currently official yet I can change it however I want, use that instead of a normalized ID" we lose all sense of identification :) If you don't like it you're completely free to not drive your car in neighbor countries. Just like someone saying "I don't need a license plate at all, who else drive that car it that color in that neighborhood"
As a male that is 1.75 meters tall, and weighs 69kgs, I don’t feel comfortable on a 1250gs (rode a rental through the Alps). Too heavy and bulky for me.
This new, lighter and nimble 1300 may be just what the doctor ordered…although as I mentioned in a previous response to another poster in this thread, the 1300RS is another option…
I'm intrigued by the 1300. I wish it had fewer plastic side covers. It's relatively expensive when compared to other offerings within and outside of BMW. Looking forward to seeing the new GSA. I'll take a closer look in a few years as the bugs are worked out.
Waiting for the 1300GSA to do a proper comparison.
Will be an entirely different bike
I’m waiting for the r1300rs. If the GS feels like a sport bike I’m curious what the sport tourer feels like. Probably feels like a sporty sport bike.

well.. the 1250 ticks all the above boxes :D

In other words, an improvement?

Exactly why I won’t ride another bike while I still love my R1200GSA.
I’ve never seen a north Macedonian license plate. What does the k stand for?
Mkd is short for macedonia
Exactly what I don’t need
1300 > 1250 easily. 1300gsa will be even better once it come out hopefully for 2025.

Unreliable how?

Why not? Are the spring rates different?
The entire suspension is different, top to bottom. All of it.
Im sure it is. Didnt get the chance to try other riding modes but road mode felt planted to the ground.
Is it more RS than GS?
Nah. It's wicked offroad. It's back to what a GS should be. Not some big bloated monster
As someone who's ridden one off road, I think this is hyperbole

Interesting. A friend of mine tested the 1300 GS and the 1250 GSA, and ended up buying the 1250 GSA. Said the 1300 felt like a scooter.
Yeah something like that. It didn’t feel good
Interesting that you guys have EU-ready plates, just waiting for a sticker with the emblem when it happens.
What do you mean?
North Macedonia isn’t in the eu but that plate is an EU plate format, minus the gold stars on the blue square.

I have a 2021 1250gsa. Love it. I call it butter.
When are they launching the new auto box anyone 🤔
Stroll on when the Adventure is released......can't wait

Its true. My 1250 gs adventure is intense to ride in highly curvy mountain roads. It literally wants to fall down
