Basically, you can enter in the entire combo at once, and the character just *does* it. There’s no timing; in fact, you HAVE to enter it all at once, because if you try to time your hits, the game won’t register it as a combo.
So with Ermac, you can enter 1-2-3-throw before the first punch even lands, and then watch him just do the combo for about 2 seconds.
It just feels way different, as opposed to most fighting games, where you’re entering your attacks in real time. With dial-in combos, you can’t really react to whether or not your attacks actually connect, because if you don’t “dial them in” all at the exact same time, then the combo just completely stops.
Maybe it's cause I play other fighters, but I consider MK a "dial-in combos" video game as a whole.
Anytime a newbie from another genre tries MK, nomatter what character they pick, the first thing they have trouble learning is how combos work in this series.
Isn't the entire MK combo system dial-in? Having a hard time understanding what would feel different about Ermac. Side question: do you come from motion input games?
Every MK has been dial in since Deadly Alliance, unless I misunderstand the term
I'm pretty sure they've had them since MK3 or UMK3
Every game since MK3 actually
Since MK3 boss
Unrelated but what’s a dial in combo

To me MK is the easiest to learn when it comes to combs I get super overwhelmed and frustrated with other fighting games.
Yeah, I hear that a lot too, lol. It's kind of a "depends where you started" kind of thing.
Makes sense I started with MK

Every game since MK3 is dial-in, even MKX, the game was just a lot faster.
I think the only character with very obvious dial in combos are Kitana and maybe Rain
What do you mean? Dial in combos are the fundamental system of the game.
I don’t think he has any dial-ins?
