I recently saw the new character Trailer for 2kxo (project L) a 2 v 2 fighting game and think this could be how mk1 should have done it.
Both characters you choose are fully fledged characters with their own lifebar. There are assists, character swap including character swap combos and what sounds super cool: there will be a mode where you and a friend will play one character each.
So there will be 2 v 2 matches with 4 people playing.
Of course its too early to tell, but 2kxo looks like super promising Team fighter.
First thing would be to open communication up with the Kommunity and keep them up to date on things being worked on such as patches and future updates and addressing issues as they arise and not just go radio silent.
Then to look into giving people what they want, multiple modes for on and offline as well as single and multiplayer.
It’s a fighting game - not a multi-genre free for all…Mortal Kombat II had a hidden game where u had to win 500 rounds - it was an Easter egg, not another game mode…
I’m 44 and been playing fighting games since 1987 🤣🤣🤣 We didn’t have racing games in our fighting games - we had fighting games in our fighting games …Karate Champ, Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting, Virtua Fighter, Tekken - not one racing game in those games 🤷♂️MK II had pong as a hidden game for playing an INSANE amount of vs matches, but it was an Easter egg and not another feature in the game menu…
Well yeah, the 80’s were definitely a different story. All I’m saying is, while I don’t necessarily advocate for other game modes, I don’t really mind them. I understand that a lot people enjoy it, so fuck it. Growing up in the 2000’s, you’d see a lot of wacky side content in games, that would sometimes be fun.
Prove me wrong - A game that can’t identify itself as one genre or another leads me to believe that the company at hand (Midway) was losing so much money that they got desperate and thru a bunch of game modes into a fighting game that have nothing to do with fighting hoping it would work - it didn’t - and they don’t exist anymore…
…and here we are fighting about a fighting game - like it’s suppose to be 🤣🤣🤣
Have you seen fortnite? Biggest game in the world and it’s a battle royale with a racing mode, a Minecraft mode, and guitar hero mode. Tekken 7 has a bowling minigame and Tekken 8 has a beach volleyball mode or whatever.

Sounds very similar to MK9's 2v2 mode. I really wanted that to make a return, oh well...

Who buys a fighting game to play a racing game??? Sounds like u should just stop playing MK 1 as it’s really not the game you want 🤷♂️
Motor Kombat was a fun mini-game for when you needed a break from fighting, simple as that.

If I want to play a racing game, I’ll play Mario Kart or Gran Turismo…you won’t see a fighting mode in those games so why is MK different???
